Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Sounds like you will be a leisure lady for a few days going north, good for you! Does the mind good once in a while. You worked in Florida and you will work back north so may as well relish and relax.
Our work is done outside. We had no damage for any insurance claims, just downed limbs/branches that needed cut, stacked and some bagged for garbage pickup. My neighbor will have the insurance claim. Our borough will get rid of trees if they are on the road but not your private property. Believe me, I am an expert in tree problems – I could build another house for what I’ve paid getting rid of trees over many years.
BTW, I did say to my SIL’s when I walked in – If I knew you were coming, I would have dressed up, duh?
-
Honestly, I would have said, “thank you for dropping in so unexpectedly.” I’m in the midst of redoing some things in the house. I wouldn’t mind an extra pair of hands. I know how you felt. Been there.
We have our reservations and will leave Florida on the 27th. We are making a longer stop in Lancaster, Pa. We were surprised that there was a sale if we stayed through the 4th. We definitely could use the rest before digging into our other homes. I also have many novels to catch up on. Oh to put your feet up and not worry about housework…..😂😃Happy camper I will be if only for a few days.
Sometimes the town or city does a pickup of branches, twigs and downed trees. You may want to check with the Public Works Department. I know they do both our homes in New England. Of course you can always contact a tree service, but you are already paying for this in your taxes. It’s just a thought. Of course, with the Insurance Company, they could send someone out to do the work and they pay for that service—-not the customer. Just remember to take several pictures.

Happy Birthday to your daughter and niece!!🎈🎂🎁 I hope they are doing something fun this year compared to last year. You won’t believe this but my stepfather’s birthday is tomorrow, the same as your MIL, may they both RIP.💕 And your dad and my mom the same day, crazy amazing!
Things are slowly getting back to normal outside. Beautiful day today and the rest of the week, sunny and in the 70’s. There are many limbs/branches that are weakened from the storm so I sure hope we have nothing more fall. My neighbor just had one come down a few minutes ago.😲
Going back to the winery tomorrow with my husband’s family, SIL’s and BIL. We should be able to sit outside since the weather will be nice. I may thank them again for coming over without any notice. Call me a baddie, don’t much care.😡
You and Poppy keep cool, Jake is loving the 70’s.🤗
-
Oodie, thank you for your kind post last night. Things will be back to normal at some point, just don’t know when that will be. My husband finished the outside yesterday but my neighbor will definitely have an insurance claim. And with so much damage county-wide, the tree removal companies will be booked solid so I’m not sure when his trees will be removed. Of course, we will help any way we can. And there are many limbs/branches that are weakened because as I am typing this, another neighbor just had a limb fall inches from our fence, yikes!😲 Our outside, I hope, is done – inside is ongoing.
I hope you will post the day you are heading north so I can kind of keep track of your travels. For sure I will say prayers and keep my fingers crossed you and hubby arrive safely.🙏🤞

The kitchen is basically done. Just some minor tweaks which I will take care of while making dinner. I am now in the MB. I just took a broom under the TV stand. It’s amazing what has been there for months. Most got tossed. Others will be shredded. I have divided the room up into parts. Today will be the back and my side of the room. Tomorrow hubby’s side and then the Tv will be lifted so I can check the stand to make sure everything is out. I will broom everything first, then go over with the electric broom followed by the dry mop. I will be spot cleaning only. When we return will do the same thing and add the wash to the floor. I cannot wait to try the new quilt, linens, pillows. The other comforters will wash as well as the mattress cover. I may order a new one if It will be delivered before we leave.
It rained this morning. A very soft rain that we really needed. The shrubs look happy and the grass is now turning green. More rain expected this afternoon and tonight. Speaking of weather, I left a note for Shoelady. I did not expect that storm to hit the East coast and inland. Funny, my neighbor on Cape did not mention a thing. She’s been mowing our lawn and weeding. She loves music, and I would have purchased a mini keyboard, but since we have a few, may give her one of ours. One is brand new. Another thing I have is a finger keyboard. It’s like a harp, but is small enough to be held and strummed with the thumbs. Comes with directions and a hammer for tuning the metal keys.
Next week is the 21st. Wonder if the Arcade will be up and running as it should by then. That’s what I was told.
Hope your appointment went well. I was in bed by 3:00 AM. Got up about 9:30 AM. Well, it’s back to work I go. Love these mini breaks where I can say Hi. By the way, before I forget. The model wearing the kitty heels reminded me of you. Tall and slim. Loved the outfit and the shoes.

Judging Others
To acknowledge that we have judged and why, is the first step to a path of compassion.
Though it is human to evaluate people we encounter based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are seldom unaffected by our own fears and our own preconceptions. Additionally, our judgments are frequently incomplete. For example, wealth can seem like proof that an individual is spoiled, and poverty can be seen as a signifier of laziness — neither of which may be true. At the heart of the tendency to categorize and criticize, we often find insecurity. Overcoming our need to set ourselves apart from what we fear is a matter of understanding the root of judgment and then reaffirming our commitment to tolerance.
When we catch ourselves thinking or behaving judgmentally, we should ask ourselves where these judgments come from. Traits we hope we do not possess can instigate our criticism when we see them in others because passing judgment distances us from those traits. Once we regain our center, we can reinforce our open-mindedness by putting our feelings into words. To acknowledge to ourselves that we have judged, and that we have identified the root of our judgments, is the first step to a path of compassion. Recognizing that we limit our awareness by assessing others critically can make moving past our initial impressions much easier. Judgments seldom leave room for alternate possibilities.
Mother Teresa said, “If you judge people, you don’t have time to love them.” If we are quick to pass judgment on others, we forget that they, like us, are human beings. As we seldom know what roads people have traveled before a shared encounter or why they have come into our lives, we should always give those we meet the gift of an open heart. Doing so allows us to replace fear-based criticism with appreciation because we can then focus wholeheartedly on the spark of good that burns in all human souls. 😘🌹
