Sheba, sounds like the house got painted before the it gets really hot. Glad all turned out well. I am sure you house looks amazing. Today, I saw a hummingbird at a flower on the patio, and another landed in our Ficus tree and took a break. Thinking someone around here has a feeder for them.
Managed to watch some of the lovely Heidi Daus shows. Oh my, the Shell Shocked necklace is my favorite! I added it to my favorites but will hold off for now. It looks like it will sell out with only 17 left. The Islander Elegance was also catching my eye. Was there anything for you today?
The caller was funny, she is a collector and didn’t want to spill on how many pieces she had.

Sheba, that is the instrument. I have two new in the box. Both are wooden and have beautiful tones. I will give my neighbor one. Her husband passed last year (rip) due to prostrate cancer. His PSA was up there for a few years, but he passed it over as nothing because his dad had that problem and was checked. It turned out to be ok. The prostrate cancer ended up in his spine. Unfortunately, he did not have a good oncologist and I mentioned it. It wasn’t until he really wasn’t feeling well that she drove him to Boston. She put six thousand miles on her vehicle just traveling back and forth. It got to the point that she could not afford the care and he went on hospice. She is now working part time to offset the debt. The Cape hospital does not have a good reputation, as far as cancer goes. She has health insurance and could have gone anywhere. Oh well, it’s over now. This is the neighbor that helped us move into our Cape home. My hubby used to mow her lawn and now she does ours. This gift is something she can enjoy and put somewhere out of the reach of her grandkids. She is the cantor at her church and sings with the choir as well. We are both on the HOA board.

Yes, we are definitely keeping the Cape house. However, may change our mind when we are backed up in traffic getting onto one of the two Cape bridges. At least now we can check on the backup before leaving the other house. Goes for leaving the Cape as well. The main road which is the Cape Highway runs from Sandwich, Ma. all the way to Provincetown. and is known as the Mid Cape Highway. It’s a beautiful, scenic road which starts off as 4 lanes (two on each side) and then becomes one lane following Dennis, Ma. going East. There is one airport that services the area in Barnstable County. When we left prior to the pandemic, they were in the midst of enlarging, so not sure if they are getting the larger planes. During the summer through Labor Day, Jet Blue flies in from New York. We have often mentioned that it would be nice to fly from the Cape to NYC and from there to Florida. Under our now conditions, not sure I am willing to even think it.

During the summer months through the first or second week in September traffic is backed up at least 20 miles or more, especially on the weekends. However, lately, I am seeing more backups during the week as well. Hubby and I will have to judge when to travel, especially when we reach the first destination. The 20 mile backup can take over 8 hours and then there is another backup just to get to the main highway. The one thing I really enjoy about the Cape is that you cannot get lost no matter how hard you try. All roads lead either to Rte. 28, Rte. 6, Mid Cape Highway, or Rte. 6A. These are main roads (not highways) that lead you to all the towns and the best shopping and scenery though prices tend to be quite high. I enjoy the 6A corridor with it’s many boutiques and one of a kind item. I call it the artist road. So much to see and so much to do. Then on Rte.28 you have the quaint villages with tons of shops along the main road. Parking can be quite difficult, but people who travel know to go off the main road where there are many parking lots. Well, enough of this. I have work that needs to get done. Bye for now.

Different Ways Of Knowing

Common sense, while not always officially rewarded, has its own special genius.

We human beings have many ways of knowing what we need to know in order to get through our lives. One way of knowing things is to engage in a course of study in an academic environment. Another way of knowing things is simply to go through the experiences that come our way, making a conscious effort to learn from them. A third way in which people gain knowledge is through the vehicle of intuition, a gift some have more than others, but which can be developed in anyone. No one way of knowing things is better than another way, and they can all be useful at different points in our lives.

Most of us naturally gravitate toward one way of knowing over others, and this tends to be clear early in our lives. For the most part, we live in a culture that values a logical, mental approach to knowing things, so those with intuitive gifts may have been shamed, undervalued, or misunderstood in our ways. Many of us are working our way out of this incorrect value judgment, recognizing that our intuition, far from being wrong or untrustworthy, is a great gift. For those of us who conduct our learning in the thick of our life experiences, we may also have to make an extra effort to remind ourselves that our particular intelligence — often called common sense — while not always officially rewarded, has its own special genius.

Even though, in a given time or place, certain types of intelligence tend to be valued more than others, no way of knowing is inherently better than another. Once we understand this, we can value our own intelligence, as well as the different intelligences of the people we encounter. Sometimes, just understanding that we are coming at the same issue in different ways helps us to avoid an unnecessary conflict. When we value all ways of knowing equally, we benefit not only from what we have learned, and how we have learned it, but from all the other forms of intelligence we are open to honoring. 😎😘
