Diane Gilman…really??
I’m watching Diane Gilman be terribly rude to Suzanne Runyan. It is incredible to me! She owes Suzanne a MAJOR apology.
Suzanne is HELPING Diane to sell her $32 mixed media tank by showing all the times she wore it in her online photos, and Diane is saying, “How do we stop her from talking? Could somebody stop her…or do we just have to let her wind down like a wind-up toy?”
Then Diane said, “I’ll just leave…” and they cut to a break.
I’ve never seen a vendor stop a host from speaking positively about their product!
After the break, Diane was STILL chastising Suzanne about “ranting” over the tank.
Suzanne then introduced a few leftover stock pieces on a clearance-priced blue jean and she said, We just have some to get rid of…”
And Diane AGAIN jumped on Suzanne by mocking her and said, “We just have some to get rid of??”
I am utterly and completely turned off by such rudeness. Suzanne is enthusiastic about these products, and Diane is making fun of her and criticizing her?
That is absolutely an unacceptable attitude from any vendor. I will never buy anything Diane Gilman makes.

Diane has always been a problem. In the past she wouldnt let hosts get a word in. I saw a post that her Nov. will be her last? Then the young guy is gonna take over? I used to order so many of her jeans, dealt with each one being a different size, lol, until a very expensive pair were being shown & diane went on & on about them being hand painted. I bit. OMG They had one of the rubber flower thingys ironed on!!!! Well, I went bonkers. Even to her site to complain, but they didnt post it, of course. They did change the online video of her saying that tho. I have found another place to purchase my jeans now. Same fabric, but consistent fit. Diane used to provide quality embellished jeans years ago. The decor was quality, actually set with prongs so didnt lose them in washer making jeans trashed. So, I dragged out my old stud/rhinestone setter from 30 yrs ago, & am customizing my plain jeans. Saves a lot of $ & I am not snacking as much-win win!!

First of all Diane loves Suzanne they tease each other a lot I guess if people Don’t watch them together a lot they may not know. I think Diane requests Suzanne a lot because she has a good rapport with her. Yes Diane can talk a lot but that’s their job they’re selling. If you notice Suzanne is usually laughing when Diane and her go back and forth. I do remember when Diane did say something about the model being lazy she wanted her to show the stretch or move a little bit and she didn’t do it so I guess Diane didn’t know what to say she says well I guess not maybe she’s lazy when the model didn’t comply. As for the jeans having an odor the black ones smell like chemicals sometimes I don’t really buy the black I bought one pair and I wash them a couple of times with vinegar and again with detergent and they were okay after that. Diane’s black jeans aren’t the only ones that have an odor from hsn. Anyway I like when Diane is on but I do like Sam doing it now too. I also like that the vendors or spokesperson are starting to come back and it’s not all done on Skype..

I know this is off topic, but what has happened to Dianes clothing line her stuff has been so ugly. I have been a good customer for 30 years, but I stopped buying her stuff because most of it is so plain and the jeans use to be great, I don’t know who is picking out these styles but most are horrible looking, I just stopping buying, to expensive. years ago she had some really beautiful pieces, but those days are gone.

I always mute dg. She is hard to tolerate.

Just a thought…. if the jeans smell as bad as some people say, why does HSN keep selling them year after year? I would think the warehouse workers would be getting sick. If DG isn’t addressing the smell & fixing it, HSN should & can. HSN shares some of the anger being directed towards DG. 1,000’s of pairs of the jeans are sitting in HSN warehouses. HSN bags the orders & ships the jeans off to you knowing there is an issue. If you want to return the jeans because of the smell, does HSN give you free shipping to return along with full credit including the S&H charged to get the jeans? I don’t know. Like I said, just a thought…

There are certain hosts that I turn sound to mute. They talk so much that the vendor can’t get a word in edgewise. Why bother with the vendor?
-
Did any of you watch her a few visits ago when she was calling a model lazy and then yelled at the camera to come back to her? Let Shivon (sp) rep her smelly junk .
-
She called a model “lazy?” Someone must speak to her about her on-camera attitude…it is turning customers off!

Sorry – having cancer does NOT give you a free pass for being rude. It should honestly have taught her humility and kindness…she had a rep BEFORE she went out for treatment, and it is pretty obvious that it didn’t truly TEACH her about tact, kindness, compassion, humility, etc. She’s the same old Diane. Rude, loud, obnoxious, and downright mean, cruel and narcissistic.
-
Diane Gilman is so full of herself she talks so much she should be put with Shannon they would try to out smart eah other

Suzanne is one of my favorites hosts at HSN, I like her up-front personality as she does not try to be someone she is not. Maybe she worded something the wrong way, but it’s live TV! Can’t berate her for that! I watched a lot of the presentation but didnt notice or didnt see the parts described here with Diane being rude. Two strong personalities together, that’s all. I think some of the callers being over the top loud and gushing about the product can get on my nerves, but I turn the channel if it goes on too long. I own many of Diane’s jeans in various styles and colors but have not purchased recently so Ive never noticed this chemical odor.
-
Diane Gilman has always been this way. For years. Talks nonstop, orders everyone around, goes on and on, embellishes, etc., and must be the only one talking every second. Why have a host? Just let her handle the show by herself, which is essentially what she does anyway, but with lots of “talking over” and competing raised voices. Maybe get her one of those automated clothing racks like drycleaners have so she can push a button to move the jeans or tops around while she’s talking. As for the DG2 stinky black jeans, I would avoid unless you like the smell of a big blast of eau de gasoline and bug spray.
-
Eud de gasoline and bugs spray is a perfect description!

I am so glad that the hideous chemical smell was once again addressed. I saw the show and yes she is so over the top it is unreal! I did hear a call in about a month ago that addressed the smell in her clothing. She had to know it was coming at some time and she was short and direct with the caller and said to wash them and it would come out! Really? It was a very important question and she zipped by with a nothing response and went right into talking about her “genius” jean collection. I am concerned about those chemicals as it relates to your health! It almost made me sick thinking about the health relationship of wearing something that NO washing doesn’t remove. The last thing I ordered I didn’t even bring the box in the house and my garage had that awful smell until I got it mailed back. Scary! I don’t see how Suzanne can literally smell those clothes for those long presentations. I suppose living over Central Park as she refers to every 5 minutes is worth it no matter what. And yes I am very happy she is healthy and well. This is a different matter all together.

Jackiebouvier, I agree. I refuse to buy anymore of her black jeans. Honest to God, I bought a pair last summer and made the mistake of washing them with my other darks and my entire load reaked of this chemical smell. The jeans still smell after several washes…I don’t wear them. After all I went through I purchased a pair of her Black crop’s and had the same exact experience. They literally made my legs burn. Too late for me to return . The smell is a consistent complaint so I wonder why she keeps on cranking out these toxic smelling jeans? Diane makes a boat load of money. I wish she would do better in regard to these chemicals. But as long as folks keep buying I guess there is no incentive to change.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. People complain if the hosts talk too much, they complain if the vendor talks too much. Diane Gillman is a professional and wants to sell her items, she’s entitled to talk over the hosts. A lot has happened along the way with her health battles. Maybe her inventory hasn’t moved that much with her stand in presenter, who knows?

I cannot believe all the negative comments about Diane, she HAD CANCER for goodness sake and is HAPPY to be alive. She is a passionate person about her clothes and she like things her way. I don’t think she was rude, I just think she wants things to be showcased a certain way. Let the woman speak all hour if she wants too because if her cancer returns then everyone will be SOOOOOO SAD later. She is a brash New Yorker for sure, but I don’t think she actually means to come across that way.
I hope nobody on this thread ever gets cancer, then you will see how it changes you. She is living in the now because GOD only knows what the future holds.

Many, many individuals have suffered through cancer, and if anything it gave them even more reason and gratitude to be kind and humble. However, in Diane’s case it just escalated her ability to be rude and arrogant. Cancer or any other horrible illness, should never be used as an excuse for bad behavior toward any individual. Susan’s enthusiasm can be over the top sometimes, but she is doing what she is paid to do – in this case, promote the goods of a very unappreciative ingrate.
-
Many women have cancer, she isn’t special. She is rude, overbearing and crass, cannot watch that woman.
-
Babbs1966, people are not being insensitive to her battle with Cancer so why are you making it about that? Are you saying anyone who has had to fight any major illness should be exempt from having to be courteous and considerate to others? How ridiculous.
-
youre so right. My dad fought cancer twice before it finally won the battle. Not a single moment, he let the bitterness and pain take over him. And when he came across as rude to someone (because he was in pain or suffering from chemo side effects) he would inmediately apologize. Definitely, having cancer isnt an excuse to become a rude and insensitive human being.

I too wanted to post last night regarding this. I found it awful how she was talking over top of Suzanne constantly. I could see if she did this one time, but she does it show after show, year after year. I’m all about the vendor explaining their product and of course we already know that they know their own product best, that’s a given. But common courtesy, she does not have. She does it to every host, and its painful to watch, and hurts your ears when they keep talking over each other. Many hosts have been quiet and try to give her the floor to explain as much as she’d like. Whether her product is good or not has nothing to do with her being rude. We are too old to not exercise common sense and common courtesy. I often wonder what is her assessment when she goes back and watches herself on the videos. And I love how the millions and millions of jeans are spoken for and no one has apologized to us yet about all the millions of stinky ones. We pay our hard earned money and receive brand new jeans in the mail that smell like gasoline. Nice!
