NATIONAL LINEMAN APPRECIATION DAY

National Lineman Appreciation Day on April 18th honors the men and women who work around the clock to keep the power going. If the power is on where you are reading this article, you likely have a lineman to thank.

NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR MEDICINE CABINET DAY

National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day occurs annually on the third Friday in April. The day aims to raise awareness and effectively rid homes of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications sitting in medicine cabinets, nightstands, or kitchen cabinets that have the potential for misuse or abuse by family members, friends, or visitors.

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Glad you and hubby had a nice meal.
I know I would enjoy solid food. I do hope the Rehab will refund some of the charges
for your husband new glasses.

I had a surprise last night our son came home for the holidays. Our son
will be here for a few days I was surprised. Hubby and son are out getting lawn food.
The girls will met us in Colorado soon.

All have been helping with my SIL she is doing so much better.

Oz is raining as I type this and will continue until Sunday.

I am still having some issues with the system. Sigh such is life.

Enjoy this special Easter weekend with your son. What a nice surprise. And to hear that your SIL is doing well makes my day brighter. I will pray that this will continue and her upcoming appointments will be cancer free. What a great celebration for Easter.

I am still doing kitchen duties, and I see more counter space. I have also been loading more boxes with items I haven’t used or are duplicates. I am forging ahead and redoing the cabinets so I can find and use items more readily. I hate duplications and have found many.

Hubby enjoyed everything I brought. An Italian grinder is at the top of the list when I’m told he can enjoy one. Pizza last week was a no brainer. He asked for Hawaiian and that is what I ordered. Funny, the driver came early and surprised us in the room. He mentioned that his supervisor put the order in and asked the driver to deliver ASAP. He was a good half hour early.
This is one place we will visit before heading North. And speaking of heading North, the main problem will be getting hubby in and out of a car as well the bed. He is now having problems with his hands which I suspect is caused by the overhead A/C. And that could be the reason behind my shoulder and leg pains.

Enjoy the raindrops. I forgot what it looks like and the sounds it makes. We haven’t had rain in weeks and as far as I can tell, nothing is expected during the weekend or anytime next week. For now, because of the drought, I am watering using a hose. Cannot use the sprinkler.

Very warm today, 83 and sunny, maybe a few scattered rain showers tomorrow and nice on Easter, around 70 and partly sunny. Just glad we don’t need to wear boots and winter coats!

I was with hubby today. Brought him some food surprises that wasn’t pureed. Meatballs, wontons, and watermelon. He enjoyed every morsel. I didn’t dare tell him that I will be at Costco tomorrow. Hotdog and a soda are on the list of must haves. He is also asking for an Italian grinder from the Farmer’s Market. Their takeout is all homemade. No preservatives. All natural ingredients. Can skip reading the labels.

Our days have been on the warm side. Evening temps from the high 50s to the low 60s. Sunny days. No rain in sight. Tomorrow I will be doing some planting and taking care of our garden in the front. The planters arrived from Costco and they are beautiful. Two will go in front and one in the back. I may order another planter for the backyard which is lakeside. We have many egrets that visit along with storks. One stork decided to drop by and say hello. Met me at the carport. Seemed to be disappointed when I mentioned that I needed to shop for hotdogs. I’m
sort of laughing at this last sentence. They do not like the less costly ones. They want the ones from Costco. They seem to know the difference.

I still have two bags from my visit with hubby in the car. One bag in particular has the ice pak and some watermelon. Hope you have a great evening. Miss xango. Hope she and her husband are OK. I am also concerned with the layoffs that also includes the Veteran Hospitals.

Each year on April 16th, National Orchid Day recognizes one of the world’s diverse and widespread flowering plant families. Like you, I am finding the news very depressing. I’m not even reading it online. I will leave it at that.

Yesterday I spent the entire day with hubby. I arrived around 11 am because he had an eye doctor appointment scheduled for the afternoon. Our aide was there doing light duty which included wheeling patients to the dining room and help serve lunch. It was good to see him. After lunch we went to the TV room and I had the papers set for his signature. The only problem is that he really could not see the highlighted area or the line where his signature was needed. Hubby has a lazy eye which is somewhat blinded from cataract surgery that should not have happened. This was years ago before we went to Boston. The ophthalmologist prescribed different lenses to try to counter the problem. Unfortunately, as you know, those glasses were stolen or thrown into the garbage. Anyway he never saw the physician and of course I was absolutely livid. It turns out that he had the prescription for glasses from last year’s exam. On my way out the door to mail the signed papers is when the Social Worker gave me the info. I will now make an appointment for new frames and lenses. I will also try to see if the rehab will help cover the cost. Hubs had the habit of taking his glasses off and leaving them on the dinner tray. Why the aides never looked is beyond my comprehension.

Today I am home playing catch up on the laundry that was supposed to be done yesterday and some other things. The planters I ordered arrived yesterday and I will empty the boxes this evening. Hoping to do some planting either tomorrow or Friday. I have soil. Got smart and had it delivered. My only question is where the planters will go. I have a couple of places in mind. One will definitely go in front of the kitchen window where I can watch for the butterflies and hummingbirds. It also gets full sun in that area. Difficulty will be in getting the hose through the doors of the lanai to reach it.

Our temps were in the mid to upper 70s today and overnight in the 60s. The longer the weather can stay this way, the harder it will be for the hurricanes to form. I just hope and pray that we will keep our roof this year.

Good Evening sounds like you are moving forward. I hope the Rehab will reimburse you
for the loss of your husband’s glasses. So glad you got your very important paper work done.

I always say one and done. There is always something that needs to be done I know
it’s a part of life.

Glad you don’t have to lift delivery is the way to go.

Oodie I walk in the rain with Poppy all the time I love doing it. I have my rain gear, winter
gear and spring walking sneakers all ready and waiting in the closet downstairs. I keep my
hand umbrella handy. I will not walk when it is thunder and lightning that is a no no.

We will plant after Easter which will be a all day rain.

Everyone is talking about the Masters, it sure was a nail-biter. Happy for Mr. McIlroy.

Just came back from dinner with mom and sis. This was for sis’s birthday back in February. Hubs and I were sick then and sis went home in March so it was quite delayed.

One more hockey game this week and our team will either be at the beach or on the golf course. This was a season to forget.

I am OK. For now. Had a rough week with the sulfites. It’s Passover and the one thing I loved was matzo. I no longer can eat it. Believe it or not, it is a sulfite and I found out the hard way. I slapped a wrist to remind me to read the labels on all food.

As I type it is 65 degrees and a bit on the windy side. Temps tonight will be in the 50s. I am loving it. No humidity. I think we reached 75 this afternoon.

Hubby is OK. I am trying to get his signature on our tax forms. Our accountant did a fantastic job. However, I am not liking the taxes we will need to pay (LOL). I will be at the rehab either just before lunch or during. Hubby in bed is not conducive to signing papers. Also, having no glasses is also a detriment.

I had to cancel the decorator last week. However, on Thursday, I left a message that all was well. Hope to hear on another day sometime this week. Once a ramp is installed and the bathroom is updated, then I will order the hospital bed through the Social Service Dept. at the Rehab. Since hubby still cannot get out of bed on his own, will need to order a sling so I can move him from bed to wheelchair. I do have a commode that will be by his bedside. I still have some questions about returning North. For now, it will be a day by day process. But I must admit that my knowledge has come from asking questions and doing some homework on line. It has been a learning process. Too bad I cannot get some college credit for this.

I haven’t worked on the kitchen the last few days. So, will work tonight for an hour or so. The cabinets are beginning to look like new inside and out. I have many boxes now for donations. To have no more clutter will be awesome.

Enjoy your evening and the moon. I did look for the moon tonight and all I saw were airplanes going on their way. Yet, it is a clear night. They must be at your house. You can tell the moon that he is missed. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. Good night.

Sheba, your house sounds nice and large! We need some of that space. Our bedroom is downstairs and nicely sized but nothing over the top. It was a lovely day here. I did get into some trouble as I walked right through the screen door (again). I really don’t like a screen slider in front of the front door. I wanted a 2nd door so we could leave the front door open. Hubs usually puts some colored paper on it. Not this time. I barreled out of the house and hubs wasn’t too happy. I layed low while he fixed it and then left asap.

Step outside on Saturday, April 12, and you’ll catch the fourth full moon of 2025 rising above the horizon. Known as the Pink Moon, it’s the first full moon of spring — and this year, it’s showing up with a few surprises.

Despite the name, the moon won’t actually glow pink (like you see in this image). That title comes from Phlox subulata, or moss pink — one of the first wildflowers to bloom in early spring. But don’t be disappointed: when the moon rises just after sunset, it can take on a soft golden or rose-colored hue, thanks to the way Earth’s atmosphere bends and scatters the light. It’s fleeting, but beautiful.

This Pink Moon reaches peak illumination at 8:22 p.m. EDT on April 12 (that’s 00:22 GMT on April 13). For the best view, find a wide-open area and look east just after sunset — when the moon is low, it appears larger than usual due to the Moon illusion.

Look closely, and you’ll spot a brilliant companion nearby: Spica, the brightest star in the Virgo constellation. The two will rise together, side by side — the moon glowing steadily, Spica flickering like a cosmic jewel.

This is also a micromoon, meaning the moon is at its farthest point from Earth. It will look a little smaller and dimmer than usual — the quiet opposite of a supermoon. And as the Paschal Moon, it holds another role: it’s the moon that sets the date of Easter.
So if the skies are clear, don’t miss it.
