I love Diana Gilman jeans most time no problem . I pick up black pair with red flower they super cute . its been 3 years now wear them yes wash how many time still smell nasty chemical . wash made in time gray more then black. hang dry her jean . only pair jean ever had bad time with .should sent back . but they cute . I have lung trouble I often wonder if jean part problem from wearing them . . yes still buy Gilman jean only one I can wear that don’t hurt my stomach wearing them . fit just right .

I am just so disgusted that the fit on some of her jeans are not the same. I hate to keep sending back – but what ever happened?

The chemical you’re smelling is FORMALDEHYDE. The same chemical is used to preserve and embalm. It reminds me of an anatomy lab. The U.S. does not regulate the amount used in clothing. So wash everything before wearing, The skin is our largest organ, it does absorb it. It is used to prevent mildew in transport. I’d reckon since everything is imported to us from Asia, it’s gotten more noticeable. I’d pay more for clothes made here.
Once ordered a pretty nightgown from HSN, I stupidly ignored other reviewers’ complaints. I washed it 5 times, soaked it in vinegar/water for days, eventually threw it out in anger- I know I should have returned it.

I wish I would have seen your post before I just posted on DG2 jeggings…. I received mine with a HUGE bleach stain on the leg from the processing. I was so bummed AND I had to PAY to return them. I’m kinda over DG2.

Can’t imagine paying DG prices and then spending the time having to wash them! Sorry you have had to do this.

Think of how these clothing manufacturing or shipping chemicals go into our water supply when we wash them. Or how they go into our bodies when we wear them. Sigh.

Yes, Tillyboy, you either keep the clothes and wash them enough or people send them back saying the odor was too strong. I suspect many people don’t notice these odors, I am very sensitive to smells. But it isn’t just HSN – I was looking for an inexpensive cardigan sweater to wear cleaning house and doing yard work. I just got one from Walmart. What they do is pay someone to drive their own car to bring it to your own home. I thought I was ordering from an online warehouse but half my order was supposed to be delivered last night from the store that is only 1 mile away. One sweater that stunk to high heaven of chemicals, this is not body odor but maybe other people think it is. I just washed it with a towel in the short cycle on warm, with laundry powder and vinegar in the bleach container. The smell came out. And now I am washing it with a load of laundry on warm with an oxygen stain remover and laundry powder. So two washes to wear it.

You should complain to Customer Service and request a partial credit or an exchange as these arrived in As-Is condition and not new. I have found that the dye used for black jeans seems to have the strongest odor. I usually wash to eliminate dye run-off and then rinse/soak for a few days with fabric softener to get rid of insecticide smell. That usually works for me.

Thank you for this very important information. So, if you decide to keep the smelly clothes from HSN, you need to soak and wash them in order to get rid of the odor? Then, if I’m correct, you couldn’t return the items for a refund in case they have shrunk? Is this problem only found in DG2 clothes? What a terrible problem that should be addressed by CS immediately.

You have this 100% dead on in my opinion. Some of the smell is the smell of chemicals from China made clothing. It is not unusual for anything I order from HSN and QVC to come with a heavy chemical odor. I use vinegar and either borax or oxygen powder like oxyclean with laundry detergent. I sometimes soak them in the tub with one of these tricks first and then wash twice. I wash them twice to rinse out the chemicals. I have read that some of the containers coming from China are actually dosed in gasoline to kill the rats and insects. A container is that large metal thing loaded on the ships. This heavy chemical smell is not typically on clothing from other sellers that I might order. I have gotten to where I smell the clothing in the store now before I even try it on. Sigh.

What an awful experience you had. Sending anything back for a refund is really a long drawn out process, it’s good that you did like the color, but I hope you reported this outrageous purchase to CS. I, also, don’t buy clothing from HSN anymore.
