    @taci

    So sorry to hear about your relative. To leave the pain behind as well as the illness that took him/her a good thing. You are right they are in a better place and just think of all the catching up she is doing with your mom and all the others that have crossed that bridge. I know how difficult the next few days and maybe weeks will be. I still go through the trauma at every holiday, birthday and anniversary. I then think of the good times and the smiles which helps me th rough the difficult period. Hope the same for you and yours.

    @sheba2011

    I am home and will be leaving following making a small something for a nibble or two in case dinner is so so. I was very disappointed in Costco yesterday. Last year they had en ough inventory to last up and until the New Year. This year not enough product and I do blame it on the manager. This is a new warehouse. No more that two or three years old. I am surprised that everything sold right after Thanksgiving. That was what I was told.

    I put our washer on self clean and left for Sam’s Club. They had multiple tins of cookies that will certainly come in handy for t he reception area, the nurse’s station and one to the Head Nurse and another to the LPN who loves my husband. He will be off this weekend but will work Christmas Day. Christmas Day I will be with hubby. The Rehab has asked all friends and family to join them for lunch. Guests will need to pay $4 per person beginning at noon. Hubby may end up playing the piano. It should be a fun event. I try to get all the patients to smile. Some have no friends or relatives and thus I try to liven the group. There was one lady I always reached out to. She was more or less paralyzed and couldn’ t speak. She was confined to a wheelchair. I asked about her several weeks ago and found out she returned home. She is speaking now and no longer uses a wheelchair. Wish I could have wished her well as she left the building.

    Now that I rested my back out a bit, next move to the kitchen to make a few things for hubby. He will be pleased with the cookie tins. Yes, I even bought a couple for ourselves. The tins are prettier than the ones from Costco. That’s all I will say on this issue.

    Have a wonderful afternoon and don’t work too hard. I know you have company for tomorrow.
    Enjoy the moonlight if the clouds wend their way in another direction.

    @sheba2011

    I cannot believe that it takes me at least a half hour to drive 8 miles to and from the Rehab. One of these days I will time those traffic lights. I am home and unladed the vehicle with the goodies from Costco. So disappointed that the tin cookies sold out. On line they are $40 for two which includes shipping. So, I picked up some candy and they are almost out of that as well. I could try another Costso, but decided to purchase Christmas cookies from the Farmer’s Market tomorrow. They are all made on the premises along with cakes, pies, muffins, bread, etc..

    Hubby was Ok tonight. When I left, he was digging into the cookie tin. Guess he didn’t like his dinner. He was eating cookies like they were going out of style. Tomorrow is another day. Think I will get some shut eye and do a couple of loads of laundry before venturing out and about.

    By the way, I saw pitman on line a few weeks ago. Was nice to see his post. Have a great evening. It’s almost Christmas.

    Evidently hubby did not like his supper. He is raiding the cookie tin.

    Hi DEFG. Don’t worry. I thought you may be too busy. Just happy to see your post. Even though you are busy. Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for your support during hubby’s time in rehab. It’s still a progress and hope he will be home soon.I’m

    Hi @sheba2011

    Taking some time out for me and will be heading to a shower and then on to Costco. I have a trunk full of donations and that will be my first stop. Also have Thermos in hand with hot soup for hubby. That dinner last night was awesome. I have ordered food from this restaurant often and “knock on wood.” we have enjoyed every meal. Last night was exceptional.

    I’m not sure about Christmas Eve’s meals at rehab. Christmas Day will be wait and see. I think hubby was in this rehab last year during the holidays. The dinner meal was a takeout bought by the Administration. It was awful. I will wait and may order out.

    Today I will be purchasing the holiday cookie tin for the nurses and the reception area. I will also be including the Head Nurse and the LPN who has helped hubby from the beginning. They share a bunch of laughs together. Laughter is good for the soul and for getting better. I may pick up the sea bass today since I will have the freezer bag with me. Then again, may wait until next week. By the way, speaking of sea bass, don’t overcook it. If you are baking it in the oven check it every few minutes. I like using Panko with my spices. I usually make mine on top of the stove with olive oil. That way I can check to see if the middle part is done. Of course you can do the same when baking. Just do not bake 35 minutes plus. You could lose the sweetness. I fell in love with this fish when we had a home on the bay side of a tiny island and our neighbor was a fisherman. This particular fish can be seen and caught in New England waters during a two week period in July. Today, fish is one of my favorites. My mom used to bake it to death and it was always hard to swallow. So be careful on this one.

    Have a great day. I’m recharging the battery on Kindle and keeping fingers crossed that it will let me type this time. See you in Trivia. The thread is up and running.

    @sheba2011

    I fell asleep and just decided to pay a visit. No, I fell asleep in bed while working on a jigsaw puzzle in Kindle. Anyway, here is an update. Because I was busy doing other things, did not notice the time. It was after 5 pm and I was a bit hungry. Decided to order out and have it delivered to the Rehab. So glad I did this. Arrived at the Rehab and hubby’s room and found out he didn’t eat dinner. Big smile on his face when I told him what I did. There is a Pizzeria about 3 miles from the Rehab and I ordered two dinners. Hubby loves eggplant, and so I decided on that and for me I went overboard with mussels, clams and shrimp and what a surprise, they threw in calamari. Both came with a salad and rolls with the salad dressing on the side. My meal came with angel hair and hubby’s with spaghetti. Hubby had to be starved. When done he was taking his finger along the sides and bottom of the container to get up every morsel of the sauce. I also gave him some of my dinner to try. It was as if the guy had not eaten in months. Loved everything. “Oh no, I’m not hungry,” he said. Famous last words😀😀

    Hubby is having a dither of a problem using his left foot due to swelling of the knee. I have a feeling that the orthopedist will recommend a cortisone shot. This works just for a few days. However, I’m thinking that a muscle relaxer may also help and will ask about that as well. Meanwhile he is asking to go out and since I’m driving a smaller vehicle, it may be something we can do. Though he is unable to walk and stand I think someone can help him into the car and on the return help him return to the wheelchair. He is dying for a visit to Costco. Not sure if going inside would be feasible, but could be doable if I had help. Going to work on that one.

    The van will take up to two weeks to repair because of other cars ahead of us. I am actually not in a hurry, although there are lap blankets and quilts inside for the cold A/C days. I did purchase the sherpa blanket in Queen for him and his roommate and neither have complained about being cold since. Though the beds are just a tad over a twin, the blanket is easy to fold giving both the warmth they need. Since hubby is complaining about being itchy, I will be bringing the Shark vac with me again to do the mattress. I will also use Clean Boss following. The LPN should be there to help or to give hubby a shower while I’m cleaning his side of the room. Actually, he will help to remove the mattress and to unplug the bed so it can be moved. I want to do the underneath portion of the bed and the floor as well. I think the housekeeping staff leaves a lot to be desired. But it’s not only here but other rehab and convalescent homes as well. This could be the reason why so many become ill. I’m not a clean freak, but do like to take precautions.

    Hope your evening went well. I just found some hot chocolate mix and it will be good at breakfast. The new mattress and box spring are a godsend. My back hasn’t felt this good in months. And, I took a measurement of our metal bed from the floor to the first rail and I can purchase up to a 6″ mattress. Well, I need to get some shut eye. Trivia tomorrow which I will set up very early. Not sure about DEFG since it’s Christmas weekend, but will give her the high sign.

    Just read that our Farmer’s Market will be heading North. They are looking at St.Pete, Brandon, Tampa and Northport as possibilities. They also will be offering delivery. I will post when I hear where and when.

    Hope you are feeling better. Post when you feel up to it.

    @sheba2011

    I started a post while visiting hubby, but had problems with Kindle. Oh I hope I can do Trivia on Friday. Worse case scenario I will start everything from the computer at home.

    Hubby is doing good. Getting him the necessary PT is a huge headache. They are saying he has plateaued since using the left leg is impossible. The pain makes it a difficult situation. I will be checking into this further.

    The van is in the body shop. I will be stopping by tomorrow to see if I can get a few items out of there. These include the lap quilts that hubby needs for his legs when the A/C is extremely cold. I also left a hat in there that I use when working in the yard. And I also left a warm jacket to wear on cool evenings. Right now I could really use it during the day. I think I just heard that there will be another cold front headed our way.

    I took my vehicle into Firestone today. They not only did an oil change, but checked everything. This included the A/C and heat, spark plugs, electric panel, both exterior and interior lights, and tires. Oh, one more thing, the gas tank. For some unknown reason it showed empty when it was 3/4 ths full. This last one was due to settings. The car is fine considering the car has been standing still for 2 1/2 years.

    Now going to have some chicken soup. It’s chilly here. Guess I will put the heat on.

    Hope you are having a great evening. Bet you four were sitting by the fire.

    @Sheba

    In all the years I have been driving, no car accidents. This is my first time ever contacting our auto insurance company. I have no idea who hit me and didn’t notice anything different on Friday. I am hoping I won’t need a loner. There is a second vehicle here that has not been driven in two years. I have space for two cars, but they are back to back. I contacted Triple on that vehicle yesterday and I know that the battery is in good working order. I will definitely need an oil change and the tires looked at. However, one slight other problem. NO GAS. It must have disintegrated due to the hot humid weather in Fl.. Triple will be coming out to recharge the batter y and hopefully give me enough gas to get to either Sam’s Club or Costco. I will also need to sign some papers at the dealership. Other than that every thing is OK..

    I will be contacting hubby’s rehab physician today. I need her/him to give the authorization for the PT.. He has an appointment with the orthopedist the first week in January and they have already notified the Rehab. Unfortunately, they want to wait on this appointment before beginning PT and that is why I need to contact the physician. I hope I can convince him/her that this is vital. Even though I am having problems with Rehab, I will still pickup something for the nurses unit and also for the Reception area. There are some real nice people in this group.

    It looks like a fight to get hubby the PT and my boxing gloves are on as well as my voice. He fell trying to get to his wheelchair so he could use the bathroom. Though he fell, it is showing me that he wants to come home and I will take all steps necessary to do just that. He actually will be better off in home with some help with visiting nurses and home health aides. I do have a person to help me clean and she will start after my hubby’s appointment.

    Weather wise, it is very cold here with temps in the mid 50s and going into the 40s tonight. Minus 10 degrees and that is what it would feel like if I was driving North. This will last only until tomorrow and then we will be within range of normalcy.

    Lots of rain made it look like a flood in my carport. The lanai got hit with mud and sand and that includes the furniture. When the temps warm up a bit I will need to bring everything outside to be soaped down and rinsed. That includes the new rugs. But since the rugs are for outdoor use they can take a good washing and dry in no time. At some point I will need to find some pillows for the settee and one chair. Both are wicker. And, yes, I will power wash the lanai after a good sudsing. Alot on the table (so to speak), but as you know my first concern is hubby.
    Will write more later. Meanwhile, I hope you four have a great day and a beautiful walk. Glad your son is staying through the New Year. Wouldn’t it be nice if he could stay longer. I am sure Poppy will miss him.
