I didn’t break a bone, but did crack the ankle bone when I was about 8 or 9 years old. At that time I was riding a horse who got spooked and galloped around the ring. I could not keep up with him and as I fell, my ankle got stuck in the stirrup. That pain was unbelievable. Years later I discovered that though the bone wasn’t broken, part of it cracked and never healed the way it should. The only way to repair it is to break it and redo. No thank you. All I can say is that the pain is awful. I remember when my mom broke her wrist. The first week and a half were awful. Moving the fingers, torment. Then three weeks later, the itches. So intense she took the edge of a hanger to rub the inside of the cast. She, also, tried to remove the cast. Dad, being a pharmacist, contacted the orthopedist , and she took something for the pain. At least in those days there was something to take the edge off. You should do the same. When her fingers start changing to pink from purple, that you will tell you she is beginning to heal. The cast is on for a purrpose and it may be tight, but in a week or so, it will look larger as the swelling subsides. The pain also will gradually diminish. Because of her age, I hope the physician ordered a home health aide to help her as well as a nurse to check on her at least once per week. This should give you some time for yourself to market and give you some relief. You should check with her health insurance company as well to see what is available. You shouldn’t be doing this on your own.

I forgot to mention that it may be a good idea for you and your hubby to have the shingle shot. Shingles are actually the same virus that we get as children called chickenpox. The itch goes right through your body. Try to remind your neighbor and his daughter that extra warm showers are not a good idea. The itch also leads to horrible pain. My mom went through this and I had a nurse come in everyday to check on her and to put a salve on the area. This gave her some relief. The nurse also returned later in the day to watch her shower and then gave her meds to help her sleep and also used a cream on the area. My mom was lucky in that it was localized in one area on her back. She also had homemakers that were there to prepare meals and to clean. The episode lasts at least 6 weeks. The shot doesn’t prevent it. It just makes it easier to get through and in most cases it is mild.

I hope and pray that your mom is feeling better and the pain is easier to bear. Just remind her to move her fingers so the area gets the circulation it needs. Hopefully, things will be easier when your sister returns. Hope the events of today were OK. Please try to get some rest. Take care of yourself. By the way, that little animal from Sheba saying get well soon is too cute. It put a smile on my face. I hope it will do the same for your mom.

Our cable was completely wiped out last year due to the back to back hurricanes. I decided to keep it off until hubby is back home. Thankfully, both of us were safe during those episodes. Hubby was in Orlando at the sister rehabs while I was in a motel/hotel during the first storm in October. The second alarm two weeks later got me to try staying in a shelter which was a high school. The alarm in my phone went off at around 8:45pm in November from Spectrum. Little did I realize that we were in the path of a tornado. The alarm mentioned that if we were in a classroom to go out to the hallway. If we were in a motel/hotel to get to the ground floor and to stay away from windows and doors. I did not hear the wind. About a half hour later we got the all clear. I did not realize the extent of the damage until I left the shelter and headed home. Debris was everywhere. Power lines were down. I could not wait to get home. And when I finally made it to our road there was more debris. All the homes on our street received some kind of damage. Some were in really bad shape. There was no rain with this storm.
Since we lost our entire den area (cannot believe that the windows and the frames were still intact), I made the decision not to reinstall the cable. Due to the mice infestation we need to replace flooring and at the same time we will check the subfloor to make sure that no one goes through what we endured. I will be calling the people who helped in our situation to check areas in our home and all crawl spaces. This needs to be done on a yearly basis.
Last night I fell asleep and awoke too late to see hubby. I then decided to continue the KP and found some areas that needed to be redone. I not only use Clean Boss but also use a bug spray. I have also found that my new dishwasher does not clean the utensils the way I like, so, I have been doing that by hand. I happened to see a portable sink on HSN and decided to give it a try. There were 2 in the package and I must admit they are extremely handy for soaking. They even have a drain. On that note, I will now return to KP.

Tayea, glad I was able to help. The chat service is the one I use most. The wait time is less and the customer service is really good.

I could not watch the game since our TVs are not hooked up to cable. However, the computer was very helpful in giving me the info. So sorry for the loss. I thought for sure they would win this one. My heart goes out to the Chiefs and to all in Kansas.

I stayed in today. Was able to do a load of laundry and then fell asleep. I awoke in time to contact the receptionist to tell her to have a good evening. It was too late to visit hubs. I was hoping to do some yard work. Guess it was in my dreams.
I know tonight is game night and I also will be rooting for the Chiefs.
I hope xango and her husband are OK. They had more rain yesterday with flooding. Another storm is expected within 24-48 hours. We may get a few raindrops but I am not holding my breath. Temps are still cool in the high 60s as I type. It will be too cloudy to see the moon or stars in our area tonight. Enjoy the evening.

Coupons are also for the HSN app which I do not use. Just too many posts that take up time and space. I

My clocks are all set. Back one hour. I do like this phase better. I dread waking up when it is still quite dark outside and the animals and reptiles are up and about. I get more accomplished with the extra hour. However, when I leave hubby it will be quite dark. By the second week in January I do notice the change.
Sulfites are no fun. I had no idea what I was allergic to when my face would swell. It took me years to discover what it was. I spent many a night searching for answers using the computer. Then one day I came across an allergist who had the same problem and listed the foods that contain sulfites. I cannot tell you how relieved I was upon reading that article. It is not a killer, though, strawberries are for me. However, the other ingredients I listed make me feel awful and it can last three or four days. Pepto comes in handy and I do carry a small bottle of chewables in my bag. The meds I use for strawberries I use for this as well. I can tolerate some of the foods, but in limited quantities. Asians use quite a bit of corn syrup and corn starch in their food including soups. I have a pretty good idea what I can or cannot touch. I love salads. It’s the salad dressings that become a question since most are made with vinegar. This is why I always ask for the dressing on the side. Balsamic vinegar is definitely a no. However, white vinegar I use for cleaning and I definitely use gloves and always did prior to this reaction. It is such a delight to shop at the Farmer’s Market which is owned by the Amish. For the most part I do not need to read the labels on the food they prepare and that includes their bakery department. I will not have this luxury when we return to New England. To say I am spoiled by this Farmer’s Market is an understatement. And to have the dragon fruit all year long——

Wow!!!!! What a day you had. Please be careful. Your mom is in good hands with you and your sister. Just make sure she moves her arm up and down so the wrist gets the circulation that it needs. My mom did the same when she was walking our pooch in an ice storm. Try to get some sleep and hopefully, after Monday, the pain will be less and she will be feeling better. Make sure she eats to keep her strength up. I will be praying for a quick recovery.

I am highly allergic to strawberries. Many years ago I needed ground cover and instead of flowers, hubby asked for strawberries. The plants were perfect. The strawberries were red and in the beginning hubby had a great time picking them when he returned from work. I actually could not touch them and wore heavy duty gloves when planting and harvesting. Sometimes, even the scent would give me an allergy attack. The container from the Farmer’s Market had a plastic top that hubby could not open. I should have taken a paper towel from their bathroom and used that to undo the top. I forgot. The strawberries on top were pureed and I wasn’t thinking when I finally was able to pull the top off the plastic container. A drop fell on my thumb and within seconds that area swelled. Thankfully, I carry the meds just in case. As I mentioned, the Benadryl was within reach but had to forego it due to making me sleepy. What I did was I put the container in the pocket for water in the car, and I was able to stop the car as I approached our road and took the pill. I was fine an hour later, though the swelling persisted for another hour or so. I usually have an EpiPen, but rather rely on the meds. Having the pen means if I use it, I need to go to ER asap. So far, “knock on wood,” I’ve been OK with the meds. Strawberries along with cinnamon are a sulfite. Raisins, corn syrup, corn starch, vinegar are also.
There is a huge list of sulfites. However, in most cases, a teaspoon is OK. I just need to watch the intake. Thank you for caring and watching out for me. I am now going to heat up some soup for hubs and will see him soon. Hope you have a great Saturday. Stay warm.I cannot wait for you and hubby to try the new restaurant. The menu prices are questionable. I surmise that is to pay the chef and the entourage. Still, not a good idea when food prices are out of sight along with everything else.

I saw hubs last night. He loved the strawberry cheesecake. However, in getting the plastic top off some of the strawberries ended up near my thumb. Within seconds that area swelled and more so as I made a dash to their bathroom. Returning to hubby I took the sinus meds but had to forgo the Benadryl because it makes me sleepy. Could not wait to return home. Prior to the dessert I gave him some of the Acorn Squash soup with Apples. He devoured it. I will bring more the next time since I also purchased a large container. I actually left for home within seconds of my thumb area swelling. As I drove onto our street, I was able to take the Benadryl. I am fine. No after effects.
I have notified the rehab receptionist that I will he home this evening. I actually do not wish to be out and about on Halloween.
It is 69 degrees as I type and partly sunny. The humidity is 68%. No rain for the next seven days. I will need to water periodically. Have a great afternoon and evening.
