@Sheba 2011
Yesterday was a bad day. Arms and lower back got hit from the heavy lifting. The soil is in the trunk and thank goodness I have neighbors that can help. Today I ordered planters from Costco and potting soil from Sam’s.
I am with hubby and will be in touch with Social W worker on Monday. I think hubby would love to help me plant some of the goodies. I did purchase quite a few plants from HSN. Thank goodness, knock on wood, they arrived healthy. I also received the elephant bracelet, a Heidi item. I am definitely enchannted.
It is a breezy day on the Gulf Coast. We were expecting spring like weather beginning Tuesday. Hopefully, this will bring some necessary rain our way.
Enjoy your evening. Watch where you walk with Poppy.

We have been experiencing early summer with temps in the high 80s to the low 90s with high humidity. You would think we would have rain with the humidity being between 95 and 100%. Not a chance. We are expecting some spring like weather beginning Tuesday. Hmm…..wonder if that means some rain????
The “decorator” was a no show yesterday. Not really his fault. When he hadn’t called within a half hour of being here, I left a message on his phone. Seems there was an emergency the night prior and he left word with the office. Only the office never notified me of what was going on. So I tried calling the office and never received an answer. So today I did the same. This time I received an e-mail with an apology. Seems in his haste to let the office know there was something going on he left a message. Only the message was to an incorrect number. The decorator phoned me this afternoon and explained the situation. This has happened to me numerous times. The keypad being a bit smaller than my finger I have made some incorrect calls. This is why, before pressing the button to talk, I make sure the number is correct. We have scheduled another appointment for Tuesday. This company is 5 star across the board and is also liked by BBB which is an A+. They have a pretty good idea of our colors and hopefully they will have something hubby and I can agree on.
I made it to Sam’s yesterday. They had both potting and regular soil on sale. There was no one around to ask for help in loading it into the carriage. I went to CS and said to try to do it myself. Seems they were very short handed. It took some doing, but got them into the carriage. There was no problem in checking out. However, unloading from carriage to car was. I cannot begin to tell you how many men past by and not one offered to help. Thankfully, they are in the trunk. It took a while. Funny, I do not have this problem at Costco.
Hubby was in the TV room when I arrived. He was still eating his dinner so I brought mine to eat with him. So much fun. We haven’t done this in months. That is, having dinner together at a regular table and enjoying the TV at the same time. I did not go today. My arms were really bothering me from lifting those two soil things from yesterday. I will be there tomorrow. Did find out that our aide worked the first shift today. I’m thinking he was filling in for someone else. Not sure.

iI had a phone call just minutes ago. The person doing the renovation will be here Thursday morning to take measurements and to go over a color chart. Looks like they will take part of a closet to widen the shower which is OK by me. There is another closet on the other side where I keep the linens and that can be used as well. I asked for teal and he said how about coral. Coral , Teal, Blue and Purple are my favorite colors. But, this is not my bathroom. It will be hubby’s. So. after deciding on my part, will join hubby at the rehab. And speaking of the Rehab. I have been trying to reach the receptionist on and off all day. No answer. So I will remain home today. It will take a long time for someone to answer the doorbell. Another reason to bring hubby home. Now to do the inside of the cabinets with you know what. I do remove all shelving. This means I will be on a roll to get out of the kitchen.

Hi.Just had brunch and now off to do some things in the kitchen. Spring cleaning is a must. Two cabinets are totally emptied and will put what was within into the dishwasher on sanitize. I was very happy with the first load. The kitchen looks like a hurricane came through. I will again be going through everything and donations will be forthcoming. Luckily, we have people who do pickup within our community. Twice per year, we do a one day yard sale which helps to defray costs. I have boxes lined up in the MB and some for the kitchen from the first go through. I m treating it as a fun project, otherwise I will go bananas.
From what I understand, the aide arrived yesterday in time for work. However, he was no where around when I made a visit to hubby. The receptionist thought he looked awful. I have no idea what he was hit with and right now I am not sure if he will be back. His wife not helping with the situation is throwing me a huge curve ball. Wasn’t one of the oaths we took on our marriage day was “in sickness and in health?” Guess she forgot those terms. I will update this when possible.
I have clothes in the dryer that need folding. Suffice to say it is over 82 degrees and the humidity is around 96%, Today I will be going to Sam’s Club and from there to hubby. Tomorrow I will be working all day until it’s time to change and see hubby. He actually wants me to relax when I am with him.
I will try to send some warmer temps your way. Until it gets to you dress warm and keep an eye on Poppy. Wishing and praying that your SIL continues doing well on this recovery process and may she be cancer free. I am positive that her doctors didn’t leave an area untouched. This type of surgery not only extends the life span, but may also rid the “C” word and becomes the “C” for CURE. It’s a miraculous surgery and why it wasn’t done years ago is a good question.

So today was clam day. When hubby and I were first married, we bought a small house on an island that was 9 miles by 5 miles. The only way you could get to our place was by ferry. One of my favorite hobbies was clamming on the bay side of the Atlantic. Our house was on the water and I would walk to the other side where the sand met some surf. As the low tide was coming in is when I did my thing. Using my feet I would feel for those clams and with those feet dig around them and with both feet did a back stroke/float to bring them up. Who needed a rake back then when my feet did the job. Ok, a little slower, but it got it done. And of course, you know that my favorite “chowdah” is the Rhode Island clear.

It is 81 degrees as I type. Tonight will be in the 70s. No rain in sight. Will be out shopping tomorrow for planters and soil.
There was an obituary for Elissa yesterday. It was a nice tribute to a lovely person.
I am just about ready to go visit hubby. Not sure if the aide has returned. This workweek he is supposed to be on Monday and Tuesday. Off Wednesday and Thursday and back on Friday fo the four day weekend. I just hope he is good to go. He is the hardest worker. His wife not watching what he eats is mind blowing. I hope to get more info when he returns. I think, with the right food and diet plan, he will have less problems.
Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine.

I did end up at Costco yesterday. I purchased a Baldacci book and will probably start it this week. I also picked up a few shorts for hubby. Looks like we will be in the 80s this week along with humidity. These will come in handy. One thing I also purchased were the shrimp Ceviche. It is really good and I am happy that I was able to buy 2 packages. I added red hot peppers to mine which added to the flavor. I cannot wait until they start selling the pastrami and corned beef from the Carnegie Deli in NYC.. So many years ago hubby and I would walk from Grand Central to the Stagedoor Deli. We both decided that the walk would do us good since their meals were piled a mile high. From there it was on to Time’s Square where we picked up the subway for Canal Street and some shopping. By the time we returned to Grand Central we were pooped. But the shopping didn’t end there. We needed something for lunch the next day, as if our purchases at the various Asian markets were not enough. No, we needed to stop at Zabar’s for their chicken salad and their homemade seeded rye bread, Russian Pumpernickel and water bagels. In those days we didn’t have the Trolley. We used.a luggage carrier. That was a thing on two wheels that folded to nothing. It came in handy for all our purchases along with a couple of bungee cords. Then came the two hour train ride to New Haven and to our vehicle. On the way home we took a smidgen of the chicken salad and paired it with the seeded rye. Those were the days. And of course there is a song that goes along with that.
The aide once told me that when he gets sick he has to care for himself. It is not like me who stands beside her best friend and brings food and cheery notes to bring a smile or two. However, he said he was still in love with her. When I found out that he had taken ill last Sunday, I had his wife’s phone number. She never responded. She did pick up some insurance forms and mentioned to the receptionist that he was very ill. Yesterday, I mentioned to this receptionist that it seemed to me that she could care less. She just wants the income. The receptionist agreed with me and felt rotten. This week he is on Monday and Tuesday. I do not know if he will return this week. Tomorrow will tell. It’s not only his back, but also something with his digestion. There isn’t one day that he doesn’t have stomach issues. He had all kinds of tests. No cancer was found, though there are times that I think he should be rechecked. He always has a smile and a joke or two for hubby. And, of course, hubby always has a comeback. They would do good as a comedy team. On that note, I need to get ready to see hubby. Shower beckons. The A/C is on and it feels good. I will turn it off before I leave.
Enjoy the rain. For now we have cloudy skies. We did have a few sprinkles during the night. Alexa says no rain for today. But my legs say otherwise.
So sorry about your friend. Treasure the pin that will give you many pleasant memories. I am sure that Heidi is also devastated. Thanks for the Heidi pieces and the head’s up. I think she will be returning to HSN either this week or next. Have a great day.

He was also known for doing many Shakespearian plays. I and many others had a mad crush. So handsome and among other things carried on a conversation with his fans. May he RIP.

I cleared the cupboards last night to redo all dishes and bowls. I will be using clean boss again. The counter is cluttered yet again. But as the saying goes, “this too, shall pass.”
I haven’t heard a thing on the aide. The receptionist finally got a few days off and I’m sure if she hears anything, she might relay it to me. We both like this aide immensely. Even when in pain he was there. My hubby will miss him if he doesn’t ret urn. They both had huge laughs during the second shift. If I was unable to make it to the rehab, he would tell hubby. I always knew he was in good hands when I wasn’t there.
Well, I am finally going to Costco. There are things on my list for this month and I hope the sale items are still on the shelf. I hate shopping on weekends, but taxes called. Still missing one 1099 and hope I didn’t need it. This was a refund check that never made it to Florida. I now have huge piles of papers. These I need to plow through and shred or keep. I now have a system and hopefully, the clutter will be no more.
There is a possibility that we will have some droplets tonight between 10 pm and 11 pm. I will not be holding my breath on this one. Temp right now is 83 degrees and partly sunny. It was quite windy last night. From Costco, I will go directly to see hubby. It’s about 4 or 5 miles, but loads of traffic lights. This is a very busy road with loads of stores, fast food, pizza, Asian food, Supermarkets, car dealerships, dollar stores, and off and on ramps for the Interstate. Oh, I forgot motels, boats for sale, etc. .Where our Costco is situated used to be open land. Now we are getting Target, Whole Foods, Aldi, and many restaurants. Whole foods is going next to Costco. Now this should be interesting. Also Target. One retail store is open. The Academy. I think it’s sportswear. Haven’t been in the store as yet.
Have a great afternoon. Send some drops to us if you can.

That was a swift reversal for your SIL. Happy to know that she will have help during the recovery period. That may mean a visiting nurse and a home health aide which incidentally will free her husband of some of the pressing things. I am absolutely thrilled she is home. Recovery is quicker with family around and not being chased away from visiting after a certain time frame.
Hubby’s roommate was driving me nuts this evening. He was using the bed buttons to go up and down. It was driving me nuts and the aides and RNs as well. My hubby hates complaining and this roommate does enough for three or four people. Tonight was one of those days that I wished he could be moved to another location. Oh well..
I will keep you updated on the aide. I do know the location where his wife works and may stop by just to ask how he is doing. I just have a funny feeling that he was asked to leave. He is the best aide there, but has been absent a lot due to a back injury and a digestion issue. He seemed to be OK last Sunday, but I could tell his back was giving him some problems. I was in pain also and definitely could relate. Must admit that today was the first time in weeks that I was able to move around.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Hi and a good evening. At the moment I am at the rehab. All is ok. I have not heard anything about the aide. Not sure if he is in the hospital or home. Today was a workday for him. Next workday is Monday. I am sure that the staff knows what is going on. But no one is saying a word.still have not heard from his wife. Funny, she is a hairdresser and doesn’t answer a call. No voice mail either. Strange!!
I stopped at Culvers and picked up a couple vanilla custard with hot fudge. He loved it. Love bringing food surprises.
Taxes are done and mailed.
Is your SIL still in ICU? Have there been any results from the surgery? I hope they were able to get it all. Or what is left can be taken care of through meds.

Have no idea what is happening with the aide. I tried texting to his wife and she never responded. Suffice to say that the receptionist at the rehab said he was very sick. Meanwhile, there was all new help except for one RN. I have no idea what is happening at the rehab. People are still either quitting or fired. Everything is mum.
I didn’t go shopping as planned. There is one thing missing for taxes and that is a 1099 form. I have spent two days going through boxes of papers and then some to no avail. Guess I will send everything off without it. Then again, the taxes may have been taken a few years ago and that paperwork is North.
Hope to get to Costco today. It is actually a beautiful day with temps in the mid 80s already. No rain is expected and we certainly could use a few drops. The plants will need to wait until tomorrow for watering and planting. After tomorrow I will be using the old fashioned way, the watering can.😀😎👓🕶

So nice to be able to use the dishwasher. I will be redoing all the cabinets. It should take almost no time to put everything in ship shape order. The hardest part for me is using the step ladder to reach the upper shelves. I am so afraid of heights especially when there is nothing to hang on to. At least now I know where everything is going. The only thing I won’t be touching are the ceiling lights and fans. I do have a thing-a-mig-jig for doing the fans. But changing light bulbs???? The
electrician said to make a phone call, it’s part of our contract. I wonder???Our favorite aide is not well. He may be hospitalized. I will find out more tomorrow since I know how to reach them. I know he had a terrible fall in the rehab several months ago and his back has been giving him problems. He has to lift patients from wheelchair to bed with no help near by. I do know the feeling. Today was the first better day. Only the knees were bothersome.
I ordered AAnthony’s sweater with the pictures on the back. It’s about a size or two too large. However, it is definitely for layering. The rehab gets real cold at night and my sweaters do not compensate. However, this is like a sweatshirt and will go over anything I”m wearing. I actually ordered two. The one that is like a lime green was delivered today. The back has a print of an elephant with handler. It so reminds me of our trip to Pakistan. The other is blue with cloud like artistry. That one will be delivered either tomorrow or the next day.
Today was cloudy. No rain. Temps in the mid 70s with humidity. Tomorrow a trip to Sam’s Club and Costco. Since I was looking for one missing item for the taxes, it was not mailed today. Tomorrow, maybe. Going to get ready for some shut eye. Have a pleasant evening.
