I am home again today, but feeling better. Found going down the three steps OK, but returning to the front door a huge problem. Decided to wait one more day. I did receive a package from HSN and the jacket arrived. It’s exactly what I need and will keep me warm through the cool, oops, I mean the cold down for the rest of the week. Layering will not be a problem.
T’he rain and wind have started. Heavy rain. I contacted the receptionist and mentioned that the rain was coming down hard and an umbrella may be useless due to the wind. I am glad to be home and not worrying about running to the car. My hubs would be a nervous wreck wondering if I made it home OK. It’s times like this that I wish he had a phone in his room.
I have enjoyed the Scarpetta novels and will watch the video when I am able. I purchased the newer model of Amazon’s HD Fire 11″ Max which was supposed to be brand new, but in my case, NOT. It shows a black, horizontal line when first opened. It has a tendency to jump around and then freezes. The one good thing is the Alexa app. She actually talks to you as if in the same room. Any subject, any time. I will be returning it this week. The one thing I need to say is that Amazon stands behind their products 100%.
Stay safe.

In September of last year every homeowner received a new bin for garbage. It is huge in comparison to the Recycle bin. This one also has a cover. Somewhere around October 15th, 2025, the garbage and recycle bins were both picked up on Mondays. We were told to use our old containers for yard work (weeds, clippings, etc..). All three are picked up on Mondays. No more twice per week. If the winds are bad tomorrow, then we may not have a pickup until Tuesday. Still one day per week. Still, I will not take a chance. I will save my energy to try going out the front door and down the steep, 3 steps to the carport. Miss hubs in the worse way. Besides, I need to leave here before we get hit with the massive storms in the afternoon. If I am up to it, will drive to the Farmer’s Market and pick up a few items. They have a good ad this week and I do want to make some soup for hubs rather than purchase. The hip pain at the moment is OK.. I am finally seeing the end of the long tunnel. I just need to remember to cut the A/C before using the you know what . (LOL). And speaking of bathrooms. I am thinking that if we remove a wall and the desk I’m using, the master bathroom would be twice the size and may be a better opportunity for hubs and the wheelchair. It could be too costly, but I will not know until I meet with the new people.
By the way, I have added two new vitamins for myself and hubs. I have done some research on Lion’s Mane and the Turkey Tail which are both mushroom plants. Lion’s Mane is great for the brain and memory. Turkey Tail is used to combat cancer and to keep it away from the lymph nodes. It is highly used in Japan. Both are great for the immune system. I hope someday that Andrew will include these in one capsule. It would save me some $$.

Happy Sunday. I am. In bed with a heating pad as I type. The source of the pain is from the A/C due to the vent being next to the throne. This will be moved to another location when the floor is redone. Meanwhile, all systems will be off. Heating pad is helping. Rehab has been notified.
Weather will be changing beginning tomorrow. Possibility of severe storms and damaging wind.
Not sure if I will be doing garbage and recycling tomorrow. Concerned that both containers will blow away. My theory has always been to be safe. To think that tomorrow night we will be facing 40 degrees instead of mid 60s to 70s. We will see between the mid 50s to low 60s the rest of the week. I’m all set. Warm clothes are cleaned and ready for wear. I may take the blanket with me to rehab.Enjoy the Oscars. Looking forward to your night of fashions and who won what. Have a wonderful evening.

I am again home with the pain in the hip. Cannot sit or stand for long periods. Now wondering if it is a cold from the A/C.. Will work on taxes either tomorrow or Monday. Definitely will try to see hubs tomorrow. I did a grocery order from Costco and it worked out better than expected.

To continue about Fl.. HOA fees need to be read entirely. Quite a few locations will not permit pets including birds, fish, etc. even if you own your home or condo. Some have age requirements and the length of time a guest or family member can stay. Read what is covered and what you must pay out of pocket. If possible, ask questions of people within the community.
Is there a service for handicapped persons? Is there a bus or van that can take a person from home to doctor/dental appointments, shopping, theater, etc.. What is the cost? There are many events on a beach, therefore check for amenities for the handicapped. In our area there is a special wheelchair for going on to the beach. This I did not know until recently.
If you have a dog, there are beaches just for them. There is one on the West Coast in Venice. There is a shower station to get the sand off, an area for a walk, etc.. Pets can go with you to a restaurant as long as they have outdoor seating. If you have a service dog, you may need to take some paperwork with you. Having a vest is not always accepted. Read the rules in your town or city before making a final decision.
If purchasing a home in a high rise, know the rules inside and out. Is money from your HOA fees go towards a new roof, repairs, maintenance, etc.?
Get to know the physicians, dentists, hospitals, etc.. What is their reputation. Where did they go to school and college.
Also, another up and coming area on the West Coast is Lakewood Ranch. Tons of amenities in homes, schools, restaurants, walking paths, etc.. Even the town has weekly things of interest for all age groups. Their medical center is up and coming as well.
Make sure that the roof on your home can withstand the worst hurricanes. Leaving the area due to evacuation means long lines on the highways, motels/hotels are full to capacity in the early stages, etc..Hurricane weather is from June 1st to November 30th.. It can go longer depending on heat and humidity.

I do like Florida. Renting for a few weeks at a time helped with our decision making. We have friends from our home in Ct. who helped us make a decision. We stared with the Orlando area and then moved on to Clearwater and Tampa. We spent a month total and then returned home. Our initial take was that the areas were too cold for us. We were not prepared for winter, though we did manage to have sweaters and sweatshirts. The following year we went further South on the West coast to where we are today. We rented a condo near our friends for six weeks. The condo was OK until they rented the upstairs to basketball players who decided to have game day each and every evening. The game day resulted in cracked ceilings and walls which we mentioned to the agents. The basketball players were evicted but it was too late. Loads of damage for both condos. Weather was superb. The following winter we found a condo across from the beach. This area was fantastic. A walk on the beach at sunrise and a swim in the Olympic sized pool twice per day wonderful. We were debating about purchasing when the roofs were being redone to the tune of $10k per resident. Thus we started looking and we did find a place not far from our friends. Seems the East coast is where most people like to go. Palm Beach and DelRay Beach are supposed to be the up and coming areas. A good real estate agent is a must. Our home is actually a condo in a community of over 200 families.
Our condo fees each month pay for cable, water, cable, sewage, etc.. There are two cable companies in Florida. Xfinity and Spectrum. Our condo association uses Spectrum. And, yes, there are differences. I do like Spectrum and here’s why. During the pandemic, Spectrum offered all kinds of help to the snowbirds. We already could contact the company prior to leaving and to stop the cable and phone service. This was not a set month, but rather on your time. They gave you to January 1st to return. If you needed a longer stay at your other home, then it could go for a full year. Xfinity was from November to April. Nothing longer. During the pandemic I had to pay for cable while not being in the area. They only gave you a two week reprieve. II will continue this tomorrow. I do like the West Coast, however, people should try both before any decision is made. -
Hi and a good evening. I did not see hubby today. I had a delivery this morning and when I tried to go outside the pain in my knee and side made going down the three deep steps almost impossible. I emptied the carton outside and grabbed the items to return to the house. Going up the steps was worse but I persevered. The weather is changing. It was extremely windy. The clouds overhead looked like snow, though the temps were in the low 70s. Severe weather was in the forecast, but the expected storms never materialized. I contacted the rehab and did not venture out. The colder weather will make its debut Monday evening and will be with us the rest of the week with temps trying to get into the 60s. Thank goodness I kept the sweaters and sweatshirts out. Looks like I will be doing a wash on the lap quilts tomorrow. Never a dull moment as far as weather goes in Florida. No work on taxes today. Tomorrow looks OK, I hope.

Well, your gif of Marla Wynne’s Melton Jacket made me purchase it. I had seen it online and again in today’s listings and passed. But that gif did more for me in that it would be perfect to take along when I visit hubs. The Rehab is so cold that I start shivering. Hubs is so cute in that he wants to share the Sherpa with me. But, unfortunately, the Rehab does not permit it. Oh well. So, this will come in handy. I have a lap quilt in the car as well. Yesterday, I caught the RN making a mad dash to her car. Could not figure out why until she returned wearing a winter jacket with fur around the hood and neck. Yes, it was that cold when I was signing out. Instead of the A/C I turned the heat up. The temp outside was over 70.
I did not visit hubs today. Needed to play catchup on paying bills and to go through mail to find some tax info. Did not find the tax info, tomorrow is another day and start making some phone calls. This is a yearly problem.
We had a bit of rain today. Nothing to write home about. We will have some rain chances through Tuesday when the temps will drop for a few days. I saw some videos online with the hail being baseball sized and over. I hope your neighbors are OK. I surmise that the auto boy shops will be busy for awhile Hope everyone remained safe and that includes their pets.
Your niece who just tied the knot, is this the same one that lives outside of CA.? I pray that he will be OK. This is a very scary situation for both of them.

Is that the Swan necklace that Heidi is wearing? I probably will miss watching in person since I will be with hubs at the Rehab. The satellite the Rehab uses does not include any of the shopping channels. Using Amazon’s tablet HD may work. And speaking of Amazon, today begins the Scarpetta series. I have been a fan of Patricia Cornwall for a few years and her stories are always breathtaking and a journey that once you are into the characters, the book mesmerizes you into the next phase. I look forward to seeing how Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis inter-relate as sisters. Hope the video does not disappoint. The story line is huge.
I had a strong feeling that yesterday was going to be something else. I read the weather reports online and they were not good. Tornadoes were not ruled out. I cannot fathom the size of those hail stones. I am used to the ones that are a small ice cube size. I only hope that your neighbors are OK. Those things can do tons of damage. I surmise that the kitties and others will be knocking at your door in the morning and again at the usual time. Getting scared during mealtime is not to be taken lightly.
Now getting ready to visit hubs. He has a new roommate. This one also has a home on the Cape in Chatham. It’s just about ten miles from our door to theirs. Be nice visiting when we return. The Chatham beach on the ocean side is extremely beautiful. Loads of sand area and at low tide you can walk a bit into the ocean. However, you need to go at your own risk because of the seals and the “Great Whites.” Never a dull moment in that area. The shopping along the main street is one of the busiest areas. Good luck finding parking. One shop after another offers one of a kind shirts, dresses, pants, original art, etc..The buildings are quite picturesque almost antique looking. Browsing is acceptable. Excellent restaurants on the main road and off the beaten track. Not one bad. Each offers a different cuisine with a nice fish touch. Meat eaters will find many choices as well. Enough said. I must raid our frig. Made myself hungry. LOL

I just this minute sat down. Arrived home a few minutes ago. Yesterday I never made it to the
Rehab or anywhere. I was at the computer and fell asleep. When I awoke it was after 9 pm and too late to inform the receptionist that I wouldn’t be there. She leaves at 7:30 pm after putting in 12 hours. There is another lady that works as well. However, her hours are from 9am to 6:30pm. . I just wish they had someone coering 24 hours. It is difficult for me to ask an RN or an Aide to unlock the front door. Most times I just take a seat in the lobby and hope someone sees me. Most times they do. After waking up at 9 pm. decoded to put my feet up on the bed for just a few minutes. Those few minutes meant getting up at 5am and thinking it was still Monday. The last laugh was on me.Today I was able to do some laundry and pull the bed apart for a super cleaning. That project is now done. Made a stop at the Farmer’s Market and picked up chicken soup and Chicken Tortilla Soup. The chicken Tortilla was hot and very spicy. Loved every spoonful. Purchased egg salad sandwichess and salads along with mud pudding. Hubs liked the chicken soup but said he would prefer potato soup if they have it. Just before leaving he wanted to try the egg salad. Looks like I will bring more tomorrow. That was my day. Now to do a few chores and get some real sleep. LOL.

I arrived home last night too late to post and too tired. It was after midnight when I finished with the garbage and recyclables and put both containers at the curb. On the way to the Rehab I made a detour for Asian food with a second stop across the street to Culvers for frozen custard with hot fudge. He was in the TV room waving his hands as I approached the hallway to go to his room. We had a nice picnic. I left after 9:30pm.
Today, I will make another stop at the Farmer’s Market and then pick up a couple of prescriptions on the way to the Rehab. I will now be trying to leave during daylight hours. The Rehab is in a very bad neighborhood and I have been frightened hearing gunshots as I make my way to the car. Not a good thing. I feel for the people on 2nd shift and those arriving for the 3rd. I remember having a helicopter follow me home from the rehab. That was one time I left not feeling well and the one time I appreciated someone watching out for me.
Well, it’s time to get out of work clothes and to get a move on. Enjoy your heat wave and then some. Just read that our daylight hours will be longer starting now. Take care and stay safe.

Try Wal-Mart and Wayfair

Left the house early yesterday and went a different route to the Farmer’s Market. They had the candy strawberries on sale and I purchased quite a few to give to the nurses and aides and also set one aside for hubs. Also found Southern fried chicken which I could not wait to try. It was the best yet and you need to remember that heading North we make stops along the way just for that. Their homemade soups I also bought. Hubs got the potato and I had the clam chowder. I just wish womeone would make the Rhode Island clear. That one I cannot wait to enjoy. I also found a small vase of flowers. Hubs gasped when he saw them. He was happy. He fell asleep after dinner and I did the same in the chair. Not used to 80 degree weather. So that was yesterday. Today is laundry and opening some boxes that are by the front door. Will not visit hubs today. Tomorrow I may spring for some Asian food.

Today was beauty day and I am now home and getting ready to venture out. Before I forget, I need to thank you for the raindrops yesterday. It was more than a sprinkle and the plants never looked happier. It was a total surprise. About an hour prior to leaving to see hubs, the sky started to darken. Being near to Alexa I asked if there was a chance for rain. Her reply, “no rain expected today.” On route, we had a downpour that lasted over an hour. I was never so happy. More of the same in about an hour. So I will get a move on.
There is another warning about plummeting temps sometime next week. So far the temps look like they will be in the 80s all next week with the 60s being the evening lows. I wonder if this will be another ha ha moment.
Also tried to make a stop at the Farmer’s Market. No way. The driveway was blocked by a construction crew trying to redo the roadway. Too lazy to try a U turn to venture into the parking lot another way. Tomorrow is another day.

Thanks for the suggestion on the bracelet. Not sure it would work since cultures are found in ingredients including preservatives. It is listed with my physician. I am also smiling on the entire cabinet. Same problem. Same dilemma. Often purchase more than one when there is a good sale. However, I am redoing the cabinet for our everyday dishes and the one next to it for bowls. The items are on the countertop and on the floor. I just do not like the way it looks. Its no longer cluttered. Just needs to be revamped.
