Hi and a good afternoon. Hope you finally made it out of the kitchen. I am currently sitting in the linai at the Rehab. Hubs is outside enjoying the sun and is sound asleep. I was totally surprised on the.meal. last year a total disaster. Hardly anything on one’s plate. Today, for a few dollars more a full plate for both patients and family.. What struck me so hard was not seeing many family members. The parking Lott was not even full. Total of four cars when there was room for 30+.
Weather will be turning cooler as the day progresses. The rehab area had rain. Our home just five miles away had dark clouds and no rain. Tomorrow cool then a warmer day starting Saturday.
Hope your dinner was fantastic. No game via satellite. Will check the score when I am home. Meantime, I will be praying for a win from the Chiefs.

I would love nothing better than a nice long sweatshirt robe. I had one and left it North thinking Florida never gets cold. These are so soft and they do zip up the front and come in many colors. I like the ones without the hoodie. Orvis comes to mind and so does LL Bean. Oh well.

Just don’t give Poppy the bone. Believe it or not, he may enjoy the stuffing or at least part of it.
Last night will be one to remember. Around 11pm or so our electricity went poof. No warning. Luckily, I thought, I had battery operated lanterns. Thought no problem until I tried to turn it on. Had to use the cell phone light to see that the batteries were not in and the other one I had, it died. So, I decided to hit the sack and do a jigsaw. The lights came on in the wee hours of the AM. Like between 4am and 5am. I found some batteries and the lantern and others are now in working order. However, the one thing I should not have done was go back to bed. I am up now and need to make a move on. Car needs gas and I also need some things from the Farmer’s Market. I will probably miss seeing hubs, but tomorrow I will be there in the AM and hope I find parking.
One thing I need to mention. I bought ToFu last week from Costco and opened a package just a few minutes ago. I cut into a whole one. Added oil and some seasoning to the wok and made it along with eggs. It was delicious. I also added two teaspoons of “Something Special Chill Red Peppers to the mix.
Have a wonderful day. Don’t work too hard. Take some time for yourself. Hope it’s a good game tomorrow. I’m hoping hubby’s TV will carry the game which is Satellite.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day with your family and hope your cold takes a cruise and then a hike far away from S.Cal.

Hi. I saw you posting while I was visiting hubby. He did a double take when he saw me. I brought him up to date on the renovation. What I went through yesterday was comical. He loved it when I
mentioned the last phone call from the contractor. He burst out laughing when I told him of the ultimatum about starting everything today. Guess cleaning out two closets gave him second thoughts. It was good to see him laugh again. He does have the beginnings of dementia. That is OK. I know he will have good days and then not so good. It seems to run in his family. Then again, serving puree foods didn’t help this. As I said previously, there are many new things on the market that may prolong the inevitable. Then again, a change in diet is something I am also considering.Thanksgiving here will be on the cold side. However, it will only last until Saturday and then it will be in the 80s. I sort of had a taste of the cold tonight at the rehab. The A/C was on and it was really cold. Could not wait to leave and feel the warmth of the radiator. Luckily, I had a sweatshirt with me that helped somewhat. And to think I put the A/C on when I arrived home.
Have a great evening. Definitely make a special plate just for Poppy. I'[m sure that tail will be wagging from the minute he sees his bowl or plate until everything is gone. I surmise the plate will be thoroughly cleaned when done.

Today was the first time that I actually felt decent. Just the usual pain in the two knees and the back. Finally, the fever went bye bye and tomorrow will be the first time in four days to see hubs.
I left a voice mail with the bathroom contractor Saturday morning. Evidently he doesn’t check his cell and I phoned him early this morning after brining the garbage to the curb. We decided on next Monday. Several hours later, he phoned again. This time he said Monday was not good and Friday of that week would be better. I said OK. Then, just before 5pm another phone call. “How about tomorrow, ” he asked. I said the 5th was fine and tomorrow would not be advantageous unless he wanted to unload two closets. I had also mentioned that I had been unwell and that was the main reason for the cancellation.
I am looking forward to being with hubs on Thanksgiving. The food isn’t too exciting, but being with him is worth all the tea in China. Lunch will not be too bad, though skimpy. Dinner, if it’s anything like last year, it will be a takeout from somewhere in a styrofoam box. Christmas eve and day will be similar. By that time, I hope he is home. Still not sure how I will be able to drive him around once he is home. Our vehicles are not handicapped accessible. I will be working with our health insurance company and the social workers on this problem.
I hope you three have a great evening. Happy Thanksgiving. The game yesterday must have been a nail biter. Did a hip hip hurray from bed. Here’s to another win on Thursday.

My neighbor phoned early this morning, before 8am. I had gone to bed around 5am. So kind of her to take care of the flowering plants in the front. Unfortunately she took the plants from the roots not realizing to cut them back for the regrowth in a few months. Oh welll. What I may do is put the ones in the containers out front and hope for the best. I will make sure that my back and legs are OK on this one. Not to worry.
I did have another episode of not feeling well. Geez. Didn’t want to take a chance on seeing hubs and called in. I did sign up for their Thanksgiving feast. I would love nothing better than to take hubs out to a restaurant. Maybe when he is home that will be something to look forward to. And, speaking of home. I left a message with the contractor that I would like to cancel for Wednesday. I let it be known that I am opened to another day and will keep it opened. It is just too much with not feeling that great to pack everything from two closets. I will be using the floor space from the guest bedroom for the boxes.
I hope your niece has a safe and wonderful trip. I had a cousin who lost his entire family during the Holocaust. He was found wondering the streets at 6 years old and ended up in Amsterdam where he became part of a family and later made his way to Israel. He traveled every year to the Netherlands to visit the people who helped him through the most difficult periods of his life. This cousin and I were close and I happened to phone him just prior to Thanksgiving a few years ago. It was then he told me he had a kidney disease. He past away three days later. I forgot to mention that he went to Purdue University to study Agriculture Engineering. From that time on he stayed in the USA.

Thank you for the rainbows and the cute pup from yesterday with the purple (my favorite color) wig. He was enjoying every moment.
I did not go shopping. Just didn’t feel up to it. But, yes, I visited hubby and told him about the renovation. He was happy. I also checked Amazon on a bed and they did have a couple that looked promising. My only fear is assembling it myself. Hubby had put our queen bed together. However, what we didn’t know was that the nails and screws were incorrect. There are special ones for beds. Before making a purchase, I will be looking at what is available in Florida. At least now I have the manufacturer’s name and can compare prices. Not sure if we will also need bedside tables. I will be doing a measurement just to be sure that everything fits. I also will be contacting our electrician to install another plug in the wall for the hospital bed. And, I need to be sure that the electrical panel will be able to handle this.
Tomorrow I will be working outside. I need to sweep the carport and then wash it. I also will be going through things for our annual community bazaar which is the second Saturday in December. I have many boxes all set. Each one is market with a “D” for donation. I also will be making more clutter since I need to box everything in two closets. I will probably make a mess in the guest bedroom since it’s opposite the closets.
Before I forget. Hubby’s meal tonight was solid food. No puree. Yippee!!!!!

I would add chicken soup with veggies and maybe some wontons or noodles. Nothing like standing over the stove while it’s cooking and breathing the hefty flavors soon to be enjoyed.

Had an early phone call this am. The work on the bathroom will begin Wednesday. The contractor will phone sometime on Tuesday with the time and to make sure we are all set to go. He was concerned because it was the day prior to the turkey feast. Sometime over the weekend I will be boxing two closets. I will go through the clutter when I can return things. Thankfully, I purchased plastic bins. They will come in handy when sorting.
I did not see hubs today. After the phone call I got hit with a ton of bricks. Suffice to say that Pepto came in handy. I’m Ok now, thankfully. Hope I can venture to Costco tomorrow to pick up the cookie tins for the three shifts at the Rehab and also for the Receptionists.
Hope you three have a nice quiet evening and then some. Good night.

Well, famous last words from yesterday. I did not go marketing. Decided to do other things and to see hubby. When I arrived he looked pretty good and seemed to be OK. At least he is getting extra food. I signed up for the Thanksgiving dinner at the Rehab. I would have liked to either have him home or to go out to eat. He definitely needs a day away from that place and I will be making the phone call again to see if something can be done. His roommate has returned home. His remark to me a few days ago was that he was losing weight while being in the rehab. This one I certainly will miss. He was very talkative and kept hubs spirits up.
Tomorrow or Friday I will make a trip to Costco to see what I can leave with the nurses. I’m not sure if the second shift shares what I bring with the others. So sad if they don’t. I also want to try to get to the rehab earlier. I also need to discover a way to get hubs out and about when he returns home. We will need to go furniture shopping for the great room and the den. Not sure on the master bedroom. Time will tell on that one.
I hope you are feeling better. Those sinus attacks are something else. You would think with the cooler temps it would be non existent. Seems to make it worse. Oh well. Live and learn and try to do whatever.

Hi and a good evening. I decided not to attend the meeting this afternoon. Instead, worked in the kitchen and emptied part of a cabinet. Part of the reason is my hearing isn’t what it used to be and not sure if a hearing aid would help with the Eustachian tubes. Medical advice suggests that surgery is the answer, but due to sulfites not sure. Then recently I heard of another procedure which is non invasive. So far the tests on this one seems to be more positive and lasts longer.
So far the staff at the Rehab love my hubs and hate to see him return home. Some of the staff have been more than helpful and I have mentioned that they would be welcome in our home anytime. What I am mainly concerned with right now is the lack of RNs. Seems that they are working two areas or more. The last time I was with hubby there was no nurse on the floor nor a LPN. Wonder what would happen in case of an emergency. The first shift seems to be OK and I surmise that the nurse on duty will be on the second. There are quite a few empty rooms and beds in hubs area. Some rooms have been entirely cleaned out (no beds, no night stands, no wardrobe or dresser). I assume they are renovating, and if so, that is a good thing. They have redone the reception area and the nurse’s stations as well as the restrooms. I surmise the patients rooms are the next thing on the list.
Tomorrow I will be making a brief stop at the Farmer’s Market. I hope to be with hubs for most of the day following. Have a great evening. Try to walk between the raindrops. This is our dry season.

I wish your friends well on their new adventure to sunny Florida. There are many perks to living here. However, Home Insurance can be nasty and Flood Insurance is recommended by many companies even if you live in an area that is not designated a flood zone. I was a snowbird until Hubs had some problems and thus have been here for a few years. I hope we can return North in the spring. I will need to see what hubby is able to do before I make the final decision. One step at a time.
