I DID miss your post abt NYC/Chinatown. Here’s another suggestion. IF your generic Asian store has an Indian section, get canned mango slices/pulp from there. Or you could get it from ANY Indian grocery store. BUT, there’s a caveat. The can should have Alphonso or Kesar on it. (mangoes are indigenous to India, and we have as many varieties of mangoes as there are apples here. ) These mangoes are great for shakes/desserts . Don’t have great texture, like almost any canned fruit. Highly sweetened tho’ so watch it.

Oodie, if you have Asian grocery stores where you are, you’ll find an amazing variety of fruits that are unavailable, or prohibitively expensive in regular supermarkets. Jackfruit, durian, and dragonfruit are almost always found. And you’ll also find mangoes that are waaay better than the standard Tommy Atkins that most stores carry. In the Maryland suburbs we have Lotte plaza which is a good chain, but there are also a slew of stores called G-Mart, H-Mart etc that are pretty good. I haven’t seen cacao fruit tho”.

So’s mine. I’m from India (41 years here, now!) and my family’ s scattered all over the globe.
Unfortunately, Australia hasn’t featured in my meanderings. More’s the pity! -
Dummy that I am! Of course!

Galad you’re back. We missed you. BTW, where is Oz in the US? I have family in Australia, and that’s how they refer to their country.

I’m fine. The better question is – How are YOU doing? I’m glad to hear your husband is doing better. You have been in our prayers.
