Hi again! I, too, agree that it was great to see a Word game as the GOTW for a change ~ Angela (or whomever is in charge of selecting the games) seems to pick the same several games over and over (especially the Mahjonggs, Sudoku, Trizzle –
, Bubble Boo – ugh, Landing Party – ugh, Kritter Krawler – ugh again, etc.). There are really SO many games available ~ it would be nice to see a more varied rotation (or maybe the most-played games). I see this week is Mahjongg Candy ~ with a score to beat of 120K! That seems kind of high ~ but I rarely play that game. Looking at the Leaderboard, many players have already exceeded that score. I wonder if Angela really gets some of the scores she posts! Most weeks her scores are average (or very low), so now all of a sudden she’s had two very high scores back-to-back! Hopefully HSN will add the alternative entry option back in the Rewards Store. I sent a message to Angela about that. Anyway, back to Word Wipe, how long have you been playing it? Even though I am tempted to try to spell long words, I, too, usually just spell 3-4 letter words first to clear the required rows and columns. I use Hie, a lot, too (along with Hue, Vie, etc.) ~ many of the same over and over. Which is another frustrating thing about the game. I know the main objective is to clear the boards as fast as possible, but it would be much better if a player was rewarded more for longer words and not using the same words over and over ~ that’s not a very good challenge. Thanks for the info about the bombs carrying over ~ I’d still like to know how many you can get each round. It’s difficult to pay attention to the info on the left side when you’re trying to focus on spelling words quickly and clearing the board! However, it’s still one of my faves, and now I have a new goal to obtain with it!! Maybe I’ll be better next time it’s the GOTW!!

Hi Angela! So nice to see a moderator on board!
I’ve been wondering, what time does the picture for Today’s Special Jigsaw puzzle change each day? I assume it’s around the end of the day (ET) and is an automated process, so it should be the same time every day (?). I’m in AZ, so since we are 2 (or 3) hours behind, it changes earlier for us. Also, what happened to the alternative game entry for the GOTW in the Rewards Store? Thank you!!

I have always been an excellent speller and love this game. I’m fairly new to it and am still learning how to play it for the best score. However, when I saw it was the GOTW and the score that had to be beat was over 25K for a chance to win, I was very frustrated! I have been trying all the tips I can find on the internet, and still haven’t been able to reach the 25K, yet. You have to move VERY fast and use the bombs to double your score each round (or later rounds) for a chance at anything close to 25K. I’m usually wanting to spell the longest words, but that just eats up time (and I have found that you don’t seem to get THAT many extra points for bigger words). I get very close to using the bombs (have only been successful a couple times so far), but my time runs out right when I’m ready to use them (I also don’t always hear the timer ticking down). I finally just cleared 11 lines, but my score still didn’t make it. Anyway, I’m sure it will just take practice and experience, and learning the strategies that work for me. For example, Boodlemum mentioned that she didn’t think the levels (or rounds) get harder, but I read elsewhere that they do. I seem to think that’s true, because in the lower rounds, potential words are easier to spot (either in a 4-letter block or obviously spelled out on the board). She also mentioned that your time per level decreases the higher you get, and I wasn’t aware of that! I’m also still trying to figure out exactly how the bombs work ~ how many per round, etc. I know once you clear the required number of columns/rows per round with time left, you get extra bombs. I’ve read that you should try to save them for later rounds, but I haven’t noticed that they carry over. I also play on an iPad, and even though I am used to the touch screen now over a mouse, I am wondering if it is somewhat slower (especially when sometimes the letters get “hung up” trying to spell a word). Again, I have found that you mainly have to be focused and fast.
Anyway, thanks to those who have shared tips, because not many people seem willing to help out! Another bummer is that there isn’t an option to use points towards entries this week in the “Rewards Store” ~ wonder why that is? I haven’t checked the rest of the topics, yet, to see if this has been addressed. We don’t have many options of what to spend our points on, so it stinks if HSN is taking that away, as well…

Hi ~ I am on an iPad Air 2, have been for years, and have been able to play most of the games I like without a problem until just a few days ago. Now almost ALL the games state that FlashPlayer is required, which was never required before (and is not even an option on iOS mobile devices). Also, even after you click on Arcade, all the games come up, whether they are accessible or not. There was obviously a system change several days ago, and either the webmaster forgot to include the iOS mobile option (for iPads and iPhones), or they’re eliminating most of the games for us altogether ~ which I’m sure can’t be the case, since the majority of people now use iOS mobile devices. I found that I am able to play Word Wipe, so that must not require FlashPlayer (but I haven’t checked all the others). However, Today’s Jigsaw Puzzle and The GOTW, Trizzle, are not playable. What games do you play (or are able to play) on your iPad Pro? Do you not get the “FlashPlayer required” message now? I have sent a message about this issue to the Help Center ~ hopefully it will be addressed soon.
I know that the Arcade is not a priority to HSN, but it would be nice if they would keep us informed of these updates and changes ~ especially something major like this!
