CURTIS STONE PANS DISCOLOR
When is Curtis and or HSN going to address the problem of the beautiful colored pots and pans discoloring when used on gas stoves!!!!
I invested a lot of money buying all RED pots and pans from Curtis Stone only to now have hombre pots and pans!!!!! They are a pale, ugly color on the bottom and the brilliant, beautiful color RED on the rest of the sides. It looks hideous and not what I invested all this money in!!!! Yet this problem is never addressed! Oh wait, Customer Service did tell me to lower the heat…well, if I want to cook like Curtis shows us to, one needs to raise the heat to get things sauted, braised, grilled, etc.
So Curtis, please, what is up with the fading of the colors on the pots and pans!!!!????

They’re NOT. It is called money

I have been using the Curtis Stone Dura Pan Cast Aluminum Pans since January 2021. Yes, they cook food very well. I can make pancakes, eggs, and all kinds of meats with success. However, these pans suffer from two problems.
Firstly, The handles overheat. You need to take care not to burn your hands. Other pans have handles that stay cool to the touch. Secondly, there is a problem with the exterior bottom of the pan. It produces a dusty gray tar. After washing, if you touch the bottom, black ash stains your hands and any other thing that comes in contact with it including paper towels. These two problems are not acceptable. Someone at the company should check for quality control.
These dura pans should not be sold. Soon I’m going to photograph the bottom of the pans and submit it to HSN.

Hi All,
Curtis Stone and Rochelle Palermo have the best innovative kitchenware ideas, I sincerely wish they could have them manufactured in the US, England, or Europe, not China. Of course the pricing would be higher, but so would the quality of their amazing designs.Stay Safe everyone, the second wave of coronavirus, (an engineered killing virus from China, where many engineered viruses have come from) has hit.

Hi all, Curtis Stone is such a great person and family man, sincerely dedicated to his business, as is dear Rochelle Palermo, and before the pandemic when restaurants were open, his were excellent and favorites of my husband and I. Curtis and Rochelle’s cookware is a wonderful design, but made in China.
The operative phrase is: Made in China.
I have their cookware and bakeware and I’m so sad to say they’ve both discolored, and some of the nonstick has cracked and the paint has chipped off.
China has a solid “grip” (strangle hold) on manufacturing around the world. It’s difficult to find a product that isn’t made there or doesn’t have components from China. Their labor force – that includes Children – exists under duress and threats with inadequate pay and benefits. Items are made cheaper there, so more profit can be had. Sadly all too often the quality is shameful. The way they treat less fortunate children and animals is absolutely abhorrent – the absolute inhumanity is intolerable!
Viruses coming from that prat of the world have been consistent and significantly worse – and now the world had to deal with Coronavirus, with no end of it in sight. Most recently authorities have confirmed an outbreak of bubonic plague in China. Bullets and bombs are replaced by viruses.
The US and other countries, other than China, are equipped with excellent manufacturing facilities. Let’s take back control and use them!
STAY SAFE ALL, TAKE CARE, ((((HUGE HUGS)))) ~ -
Linny,
I don’t know why HSN & Curtis continue to sell his defective products. There are SO many bad reviews–especially his sheets baking. We’ve all owned pots and pans for years where you do not have to cook so gingerly. I guess you get what you pay for! -
First of all, medium high heat will bring the flame up the side of a pot. Secondly, if one is wanting to boil a pot of water to boil pasta, you would have to wait forever to bring it to boil on medium high. Most chefs will use high heat! Most chefs will sear steak on high and then reduce the heat. But all of this is insignificant…the bottom line is that when the pots and pans are being demonstrated, it is NEVER stated that high heat will damage the color of the pots and pans! NEVER! Had there been full disclosure, I would not have made the purchases! After all the complaints, I would think that they may have chosen to do so now!!!!
Indeed, they also proclaim the pots and pans to be metal utensil safe. They even sell metal utensils to use with the pots and pans. But, truth be told, metal utensils have damaged the inside of my pots! I received replacements after sending in photos of the damaged items!!!
In addition, the large baking sheets did not release the roasted veggies. Actually STAINED the sheets. These too had to be replaced upon submission of photos.
So, you might be Curtis’s biggest fan…you actually sound like you might be a fan club member, but I am not alone in feeling that there is not full disclosure about this product when it is being demonstrated! Who wants pots and pans that cannot be used on high heat! That’s simply ridiculous…

Did you listen today. They kept repeating “All done on medium heat”

Sorry, dvard , I can see that you are passionate about these pans… but so far I’ve only done fried eggs on medium-low heat and I am having the same issue. I JUST got these pans and have never turned it above the medium-low setting.

You are so wrong. You do not cook on high to saute, braise, etc. Even grilling does not need high heat. I use his cookware since they were released and never cook above medium high. (375) I have had no discoloration. If he cooked on high, things would burn. Read the manual. There are at least four warnings that cooking on high will cause it to discolor.

I’m glad I caught this thread. I ordered the Durastone pans and am going to make sure to actually read the instructions thoroughly. I just glanced at the manual online and noticed they said to hand wash to preserve color, although they are dishwasher safe. Kind of a bummer, but at least I’m aware.

It’s junk! If you can, return it! Wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered his baking sheets. They discolored & warped. I threw them out!
