I do not think for a minute that one is able to get Akoya Pearls(La creme de la creme) for $40.

I agree. The pearls are probably freshwater.
All of the brands mentioned by GemFX are jewelry. QVC and HSN pretty much got out of the jewelry business when gold started to go up up up and up some more.
People are whining about Beauty Report on Wednesdays, well, I mourn the loss of the Wednesday four hour Gold Rush shows with Mary Beth Roe. 🙂
Pearls have risen as well, due to various factors.
