JEWEL-RY not JEW-LER-RY

I can’t stand when host or vendor mispronounces JEWELRY. It is 2 syllables not 3. Makes them sound so ignorant. One that comes to mind today is the gal with Christian Sirlano on the Debbie D show.

Oh my pronunciation! Yes yes yes, I too am driven nuts by the JewLerry pronunciation.
I literally say to my husband, it’s like LIBERRY, ice shoots through me with mispronouncing simple words.
But I am a very critical picky chick! It’s on me, not them.

Actually, if the speaker is from Great Britain, the 3 syllable pronunciation is correct.

  Nope, you’re incorrect. It IS three syllables as you suggest, but it is Jew-el-ry. But the 1st syllable is practically run into the 2nd, so it still (but not quite) sounds like 2 syllables. But NEVER Jew-Ler-Ry. Never!
