I was watching Bellezza recently and the host kept saying everything is coated in 18K gold mostly over bronze. I looked at several descriptions online and I cannot find one piece that states that in the description. They say “gold toned” and many don’t say where they were made, but the impression is given that the pieces are all made in Italy. Does anyone know for sure if they are coated in gold and made in Italy. I just find it hard to believe that this important info would be left out of the description, esp. because they are things that would increase sales and peoples interest in the items. However, I also cant believe the host would say it if it wasnt true because they can get in a lot of trouble for lying and false advertising.

I have several pieces of Bellezza jewelry. It is all gold plated and features “italian gold” type styling. I think “bathed” is just a fancy word they are using. Technibond was gold over sterling silver but I think they discontinued it because the sterling was too expensive. I think Bellezza is a good brand if you want that Italian gold look without the terribly expensive price of real gold. I am not sure the difference between the words bonded, plated or bathed. At the end of the day its a layer of gold over another metal. I just care that it looks good and it does not flake off. I am careful with my jewelry and I’ve had pieces of Technibond last for twenty years. If it gets orange, I just use a polishing cloth.

I think the word “includes” gets them off the hook, but it’s sneaky because “includes pieces that are sterling and bathed in gold” implies that some pieces are sterling and some are not sterling but gold plated. It does not lead buyers to believe some of the pieces are neither. We have to be careful.

This is what is posted at the bottom of the Bellezza product pages.

You can always contact customer service for more details.

  I also read that description of the Bellezza jewelry and noticed how the statement reads that it “includes” pieces that are sterling and bathed in gold. That lead me to believe even more that many aren’t . There are a few pieces I am interested in buying but only if the have the gold overlay and since it is not in the description i guess I have to conclude it’s not.

  So, I went and found a Bellezza romance card from one of the last items I purchased. Not that long ago. A bee lira coin pendant with bee hive patterned overlay. This is what it says: “Thank you for choosing Bellezza Jewelry! This collection of Italian-inspired high-end fine jewelry desiggns is meticulously recreated in bronze bathed with 18k gold. Each piece is a timeless classic perfect for any jewelry wardrobe”. “Bathed” IMO means plated. I remember the Techinibond brand and that was layered gold (like vermeil) bonded to sterling silver.

Wow! This is a major error. One of the reasons I shop at shopping channels is because the FTC limits what Broadcast media can say about products, while other online stores have more freedom to twist the truth. This could cause a lot of trouble.
