This birthday is even worse than last year when we were deep in COVID
HSN, you have made billions or trillions in the 40+ years. Can we not get decent prices, new items from old vendors, new vendors, and lots of fun outtakes from years gone by, hosts long gone, and some who have passed (Ed and Steve are two who immediately come to mind). Give us an HSN history lesson each and every year. And pull your prices or shipping or flex pays to match the celebration. You make major buck 11 months. Please make this a celebration of the customer making HSN a force.

For me, this was not a Birthday Bash. I would call this “The Birthday Blahs”. I can forgive extra shipping days as many companies are still short-staffed. What I find ridiculous is raising clearance prices during a sale. Normally, the idea of clearance pricing is to get rid of older items to make room for newer inventory. I buy many DG2 items and there are tees and tops that were brought out 12 to 14 months ago and have never been on sale or reduced in price. I am purchasing much less than I did before QVC and HSN became linked.

When the cost of fuel goes up so does the price of just about everything else. Yes they do have some stuff that sat in the warehouse so the cost of manufacturing it did not go up. But shipping has. Do you think the items are beamed to your house? They are shipped by freight, truck, or plane or a combination of transportation If they ran out of inventory and it has to be produced the cost of everything involved in making it goes up. Other things that the cost has gone up since last year. Gas, and soon to come heating oil. Meat, eggs and most grocery items. Beauty products. Even the ingredients to make them (for those of us that make our own). Lumber I can go on and on. Long story short. Its inflation. Its at 5.0% expected to hit 5.70% by end of July, 2021. July, 2020 it was 1.0%. And as always the cost is passed on to the customer. Because the company cannot afford the loss of the profit margin. Lets put it this way? Would you spend $20.00 to produce a item and sell the item for $19.00? Think its bad now? (If) inflation keeps going up its going to get a lot worse.

There are a few things I might have bought on free shipping day except that hsn had already raised the prices to much higher than the shipping cost added on to them would have been originally, by $5 or $6 in most cases, so they were a lot more expensive. Do they really think that people don’t notice these things? Their hypocrisy is ever present – say one thing and do the opposite. They don’t act like they give a toss about their customers, much less love or appreciate them. Actions speak louder than words, hsn. Put your actions where your mouth is.
