Qurate Layoffs affect QVC and HSN Hosts
As on today, March 1st, Qurate, who is the mothership to QVC and HSN, released Dan Hughes (33 years with QVC), Carolyn Gracie, and HSN’s Shannon Smith. Yes, you read that correctly.

What a decision Qurate has made! You have laid off some of the best hosts on the networks! Do yourself a favor Quarte and beg them to come back, you might lose fewer customers if you do. Better yet, trim your losses by laying off some executives, NOT the ones who bring in the sales!!!

I don’t feel that you all are losing money bc of your show hosts. You’re losing money because you’re charging way too much money for the quality of clothing that you sell. It’s horrible quality. furthermore, almost $6. Added to your order in shipping makes me just close out my cart. I refuse to pay that much in shipping.
That’s why you’re losing money. You used to sell nicer things at a much less expensive price and therefore sold a lot more merchandise and your numbers were high now you’ve out priced yourselves and the customers are just dropping off one by one.. some of the items that you have been selling for years have more than doubled in price and I personally think you’re pricing yourself out of business. -
If only both networks would listen to their customers, notice the trends and follow the markets. Most of the vendors have their own websites, offer deals and free s/h. Having just a few REAL designers on both networks doesn’t help. The clothing lines are out of date and the constant parade of UGLY SHOES is awful. How much goat milk, Argon oil and jeans can you sell? Don’t blame the hosts for poor offerings, high prices, low quality merchandise. The days of watching home shopping channels are over.

i dont know what were going to do if hsn and qvc close there doors with all stores going out businesses. all we have left.is over tv home shopping that’s all we have left.

I don’t understand HSN for letting go Shannon and Leslie the best 2 host on HSN. I can’t stand Marlo Smith either can Wolfgang Puck. And Callie Northagen. Bobbie Ray Carter has been there since day 1 she’s 70 in April I done with HSN. I can spend my money elsewhere. What about Colleen Lopez is she gone too as a host I know she makes clothes and jewelry for HSN.
-
Lesley was my favorite host. Can’t believe they let her go and kept several who have voices that I can’t listen to. I wish her the very best! Thanks, HSN. With Lesley gone and your $5.95 shipping, I won’t be buying much in the future. Stopped watching and buying from QVC years ago due to their goofy hosts and high prices. Now, HSN!

Not upset about Carolyn, I honestly could not watch her. I’d DVR the shows and fast forward, the baby talk and squirrel routine was worn out long ago.
I loved Dan, and imagine he will do just fine. Shannon Fox, gorgeous woman but getting information out of her was not an east feat either.
The costs are high, the calamity is constant, and the quality is subpar for the price.
The business model may need an overhaul….and not just replacing the former hosts with same thing in different packaging. Ie: younger hipper less more ethnically diverse.-
I loved Carolyn, sweet calm informative and down to earth. She was one of the finest hosts imo. Dan was equally calm and not frantic in his sales approach.
-
I really liked Lesley she was calm and informative. Shannon Fox talked to us like we were in kindergarten and hardly gave any important information on what she was presenting.
-
-
Leslie was let go many years ago and then rehired, like Jane Treacy on the Q. I will miss her.

EEO Suit? Age discrimination.
What a shame.
-
Shannon Fox and Leslie are much younger, this has nothing to do with age.

I agree with all the comments made about the hosts who are being let go. I am so sick of all the silliness, dancing, goofy comments between the hosts, stating that the price of an item is actually the flex pay, not the actual price, etc. I’m just not sure the idea of attracting a “younger” audience is going to work. Even the younger customers don’t need the clown show HSN has become. I truly believe that Home Shopping has been trendy for a while, but in store shopping is making a return. Being able to actually try on an article of clothing is so much better than wondering if the ordered item will fit! Of course this is just my own opinion….so long HSN.
-
Leslie was shown the door too.
-
Shame on you.,QVC / HSN.
-
I think they are trying to attract a younger audience that doesn’t want to be attracted. And they are doing it at the cost of an older audience that has kept the lights on.
I never watch QVC in the evenings. I don’t subject myself to their nonsensical, non-informative presentations. I really question what the powers to be have been thinking.
Both stations have made bad decisions with releasing the host they have.
-
I’m just sick about this! QVC has gone down the toilet for sure. The new clothes lines they’ve brought in are horrible and too expensive! Carolyn Gracie & Gary Goben made QVC worth watching. Now HSN, what’s up with letting Shannon go???? It’s time to hit up the malls again and eBay!! Glad I just paid off my balance on both cards! Caio QVC & HSN
