Please Stop with the Flailing Hands
Saw Brynne a few days ago when I turned on HSN and I had to laugh. She can’t talk without her hands and she look like she was imitating windshield wiper blades – Back and worth. Just saw her Again today and she is moving her hands again. Tina Jennings does the same thing. Who is training these hosts?? It is so distracting to see someone talking and their hands are all over the place. Please have someone put a stop to this. I haven’t watched much and now I just turned it off, and I love Doll 10. I know I’ll have a few criticizing me, but this is my opinion and I’m entitled to have it. Unnecessary hand movements are a BIG no-no on TV.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion.
I use my hands to talk so I don’t notice it. I agree that the hosts need to be taped and management needs to go over it with them.
If someone taped me, I’m pretty sure I would try to improve.
I’m bothered more by a host’s voice. One of the new hosts talks like a little girl. Others probably aren’t bothered by it. I can’t watch one of the older host whose voice sounds like baby talk to me.
Lesley has a nice voice. She would be a great host trainer, IMO.-
I agree with you. The host’s voice is important to me. Sometimes I have the TV on for background, and I am not watching, but listening. I agree with you about one of the newer host, and one of the older host’s voices. Not my cup of tea.
Lesley does have a nice voice, and I also like her calm demeanor. And Callie too, for the same reason. I always learn a lot when I listen to their presentations.

I have mentioned this severL times. Brynne has to pull herself in. Speaking with the hands is one thing. You are right, she flails.i thought she was going to smack Doris a couple of times, and once, I think Doris thought so too. She gingerly sidestepped.
-
Sarah Timm also does this a lot too. She also seems to be constantly searching for what to say next and uses the same description and language for everything she sells. It’s all “cute”. She was so comfortable to me as the DG2 fill-in that both her and Brynne feel like they’ve bit off more than they can chew. Hopefully more time will bring them more confidence.

Back in the day when hosts were professional, Helen Keaney did the arm waving. It was distracting but not horrible. Brynne cannot figure out what to do with her hands and when she gets nervous, her hands turn into claws and she flails wildly.
Sarah Timm doesn’t bring her arms past her shoulders USUALLY, whereas Brynne most always does. That’s where it becomes flailing, because it’s super distracting and nearly hits the vendor/guest (poor Doris Dalton almost got smacked by Brynne on Wednesday).
Descriptors are SUPER important. That’s why I went hard on Emily for the “my friends” and her word or phrase of the day that she STILL uses ad nauseum. Sarah overuses “cute”. Sorry, a vacuum cleaner that is full sized is NOT cute.
Jasmine used “whatchacallit” when she can’t find her descriptor – super annoying, particularly knowing she was an award-winning news person. Rebekah and Lesley should give classes on how it’s done. Still haven’t seen Clarke enough. She is adorable though, and I would probably give her the most grace, because she’s the one who hasn’t ever done this before.

Brynne has NOTHING on Tina Jennings. Tina cannot say two words without flailing her arms around. Has no one else noticed this. I do not watch when she is on because it is soooo bad.

Elocution lessons would be nice. Some of the hosts talk so fast…they sound like auctioneers.
Lesley is very pleasant and professional. -
Agree , the flailing is distracting. So is the fast talk that makes some of the hosts sound like auctioneers.
Elocution lessons should be part of their training.
Lesley is calm, classy and professional. -
These comments are annoying..

I was waiting for your 2 cents. You always have to have an Opinion and you Always take the other side. Here’s a thought. Just Stroll on when you don’t agree. I see your name constantly, on so many threads. Why?
My comment is NOT annoying and everyone on here feels the same way, so
Hopefully Mgmt sees this post and makes changes. We can only Hope!! -
No it’s not annoying at all.I value other opinions. I think I use my hands ,too. Might be an Italian way with me.

I am team HSN for the HOST you can scroll down if it bothers you. I am entitled to my comments whether you or anyone else like it or not. Its MY opinion just like it is YOURS!
-
Wow, Now Your Repeating what I said to You when I had a Different Opinion a Few Weeks ago. Why do you feel you have to Voice your Opinion on so many Posts and make Snarky Remarks to me? I guess You Like to Stir the Pot. I’ve been with HSN for over 25 years and We’ve been Spoiled by Good Hosts, but the Ones they have Now Definitely Need some Training. Just stating a Fact!

All of the Host do a amazing job. Maybe you can apply for a position and show them how to be better.

Delilah, I got you. Just ignore her. She seems to think we are trying to change HER opinion. LOL. It isn’t that they are bad hosts. Not at all. But there are things that, if noted now, can be adjusted so that a decent host can be a great host. It’s constructive criticism. Nothing more. We are NOT attacking anyone. So, all you people who think you need to jump up and champion these new hosts…chill ladies. We are on the same team here.

Thanks Sharon. Appreciate it. I’m done with her. She’s not worth my time. I’ve posted on here in the past and never had someone have to make it all about them. Sad.

Someone is reading the boards! I watched Tina last night. She seemed to be conscious of using her hands. She also seemed more professional. Keep up the good work, ladies! There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism.
Every job has evaluations. HSN please have the hosts watch their presentations periodically. People shouldn’t be changing the channel because of hands and voices, IMO. -
Often I watch HSN with the volume muted. Perhaps if the hosts watched themselves muted, they might become aware of things they’re unaware of now.
-
bobzi, I agree 100%.

Since the move the hosts have gotten worse! All these hosts even the veterans need to be retrained! I’m glad Lesley is back. She is a star presenter – good, soothing voice tone, nice pace and provides key product information. And, most importantly, she is articulate! Some of these past news presenters are awful bc they are reading off teleprompters and don’t know how to communicate if they aren’t spoon fed content. I often change the channel and buy less from HSN because these hosts are TERRIBLE!!! Not sure why HSN doesn’t address it or make better hires!!!
-
THE HOST ARE AMAZING. THEY STILL HAVE ME WATCHING THEM AND YES SPENDING MY MONEY. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS YET . I HAVE SEEN THEM GO AND COME AND I AM STILL SHOPPING WITH HSN AND THE HOST.

@lovelymejean151 awww good for you, bless your heart. You may have lost any credibility you had left when you posted in all caps, honey. That’s yelling and the internet considers that incredibly rude. But we already know you don’t care about being rude. You just do you. Have the day you deserve!
