New Hosts' "report cards"
Thoughts on the new hosts (including Siaoming Wong):
Lesley Ann Machado – A
She hit the ground running which is to be expected since it’s not her first rodeo!
Siaoming Wong – A
She gets the “most improved” award! Hosting the morning variety show has really upped her game!
Rebekah Wood – A-
It’s hard to be the host instead of the vendor. She has the confidence and the ease, and she will keep getting better with time.
Jasmine – A
For a newbie, she is a natural! The Emmy award winning newsperson has blno problem with the voices in her ear and connecting to with the guest and the audience.
Sarah Timm – A-
Again, hard to switch from vendor to host. She’s killing it though. Her first beauty show was awesome.
Brynne Edwards – B+
She is getting better every show. She swings her arms around a little too widely at times, which can be distracting, but it’s so much better than when she first started. Also, she has learned not to do the “claw hand” and the Vanna White presentation move anymore.
Clarke – C
I have seen her twice – she seems to be the last one they will release to work on her own. I can understand why. She is extremely nervous, but she is also extremely likeable and self-deprecating (which is unnecessary). I want to see more of her. Lots of potential. She reminds me of QVC’s Julia Cearley.

Siaoming has improved but her voice is too high pitched. I can only listen to her for a short time.
Clarke definitely needs to improve. Maybe she is nervous. She doesn’t seem as comfortable as the others, but she seems very sweet.
I think all the rest are doing a great job.
Sarah is my favorite. I love her positive energy. She is fun to watch. -
I haven’t seen Clarke?! But yes, the rest are doing great and will keep improving it seems😃 Love Lesley and I can’t wait to see more from Jasmine! I’ve only seen her instagram videos! I always miss her presentations!
-
Lesley is my other favorite. She came back with so much confidence as if to say HSN, you made a huge mistake, I’m here to stay!
Lesley is so professional and down to earth.
Love her!

I think Jasmine is too brassy. Reminds me of a bossy type person. I would give her a C-.
-
I agree with most of your grades, except Jasmine, saw her today and I feel she was kind of phony and a bit dramatic.Needs to come down to earth and be more realistic. I’m sure she will over time.

In selling a DG2 skirt, Siamang asked the other host how tall she was. The host answered and said “and my size is _______.” Siamang cut her off. We are trying to buy the right “size” for ourselves and some things are off sized. It makes me mad. Siamang should remind herself that the size worn is critical information. Ughhhhhh!

She is annoying imo. I change the channel when S.W is on…

Clarke has the least relevant experience from my understanding. I can understand her being the furthest behind in terms of comfortability on screen.
Interesting there is such positive praise for Sarah Timms. She was awesome with DG2 but she seems very lost most of the time to me as a host. She is trying really hard very obviously but she doesn’t have the same spark that she had when she was with DG2.
I agree with assessment of Lesley that she is putting her best foot forward to show “the powers that be” they made a big mistake by cutting her several years back.
Rebekah Woods stands out to me as the strongest of the new group overall though.

At this point, I don’t watch much HSN.
I never saw Sarah on with DG2. I really like her energy and I always liked Lesley.
I mainly watch in the morning. I do hope they have a co-host with Siaoming after the new hosts are trained. -
I am similar to you. I watch very little anymore without much intent to buy, but the familiarity and friendly voices are nice to hear while I do chores around the house or in the kitchen. Glad to see Lesley get the second chance.

The few times I have seen Sarah ad Clarke as hosts, they really over exaggerated the facial expressions, raising of eyebrows and head nodding. I sure hope they record and watch themselves. Hopefully, that will help them with all the expressions and realize they just need to be themselves.
-
It all boils down to how well we like a host’s personality. Lesley, Sarah T, and Brynne are my favorites. Years from now, I bet they will still be my favorites.

A large part of how long hosts stay also has to do with how well and mostly how much they sell during their presentations. This information is tracked by the parent company. If they do not perform up to par or sell as the Co wants, their contract is either not renewed or negotiated down ($$$) for an additional time period to give them the opportunity to improve such. If they don’t, their contract is not renewed. You also have some that think they’re worth more than the CO wants to pay them. If they don’t compromise, they’re gone too. Look at Shawn K on QVC. Since she’s been a front line host, she’s brought in expensive companies that she personally buys or is friends with. Ex. Barefoot Dreams, R Minkoff. She doesn’t mind telling you she loves London and brands from London. If you watch her shows, you’ll see most of the items she presents are high dollar or Shawn K X (by) ???. I’m happy for her that she can afford expensive taste, but QVC is supposed to mean Quality, Value and Convenience.
