Black and other Ethnic Business Owners on HSN

HSN HAS promoted White Asians, Native Americans, Middle Easterners, Europeans, South Americans, Sub Saharan Africans, Australians, and so on. Many of us know this and have purchased from them. Why get upset because HSN chooses to focus on African Americans now, it doesn’t take anything away from anyone else. I used to love HSN , QVC and now ShopHQ for presenting products from around the world. Turkey, Egypt, Germany, China, Japan, India, Mexico, England, Ireland, etc. Try to keep up dear.

Why should they when you know the majority of there vendors are of one race. They showed maybe 10 for both hsn and qvc nobody should have to tell you you matter you should think so yourself

Thanks for your input. “Nobody should have to tell you you matter” is kind of the point. But I’m not here to argue any point with anyone. I was just making an observation which KayKay clearly corrected. Not sure I’m totally convinced of the efforts made, but it’s all good. No worries. Let’s not make this a thing.

The QVC group sells a lot of good products from a lot of good people at good prices, but make no mistake, QVC Group/Liberty Interactive media are in it for the money. So everything they do must be done in relation to the bottom line. Right now BLM is politically correct, so they’ve jumped on the bandwagon. That doesn’t mean they’re bad or evil in any way, but there’s always a self-serving motive behind corporate action. And it almost never has anything to do with altruism-the selfless concern for the well-being of others.

Colleen Lopez earns a salary of $900,000.00 a year. Yes, they’re making money and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Why wouldn’t they? Isn’t that what business is all about? Almost a million a year for a show host is a fabulous salary. I like her and she’s probably worth the money since there’s more to her job than show hosting (travelling, paperwork, research, and so on).

My point is don’t be fooled by anything. It’s all a show. A good one, but still a show. I love HSN and the people in it.

No, no one should have to tell anyone they matter, but they do. There’s a whole new world out there and times are changing. Various groups through the lifetime of this country and others have been ignored. “Faces” have been put on products to appeal to the population but do not represent the product. What is wrong with showcasing a particular group? Nothing. We’ve done it with Irish wares, Chinese wares and other groups. Owning is one matter while representing is another, doing both is fabulous. I loved when HSN and QVC began selling Native American jewelry from the Artisans themselves!

I feel HSN should hire more black vendors after shopping hear for over 25 years . The few we have air time can’t compare to 95 % white , other race vendors . I purchase what i like regardless . You have a right to make a topic about whatever floats you boat.

My op has nothing to do with race . I am black and would love to see more black vendors .

I don’t buy any ethnic products from HSN. I buy Native American jewelry from the Native American tribe in our state. I buy Asian products from Asian vendors, I buy Middle Eastern and South Asian food and spices from an online store, being from another country I also buy British and Australian foods online. If I want clothing I buy online as well. My daughter buys her ethnic hair care products from a vendor on line as well. I know HSN has celebrity chefs who just happen to be Chinese/American, Australian, and Austrian. They have a lady originally from Somalia selling clothes, etc. Maybe every couple of months they can focus and promote products from other countries.

To nomad2010 I know that they make money all corporation do that’ that’s what they do. I am 63 and have seen a lot in this USA and some people do need to know they matter not the ones that already know that. Every one should just learn to tolerate others and not be so divided that’s all I am trying to say

I have bought Antthony’s Design Originals line and Renee’s Women with Control line for years. I’m not buying them because they’re black Designers. I buy them because I love their amazing designs and how they fit me. If they start making an inferior product I’ll stop purchasing from them. I’m a consumer and a good customer. I’m not going to purchase or not purchase products based on someone’s skin color. I think that would be a condescending and kind of an insulting thing to do.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the enormous salaries Colleen and Bobby Ray make! I’m really curious what exactly determines the hosts’ salaries. Does anyone know? Is it the amount of sales they make? How long they have been with HSN? Their fan base and popularity? Wonder what the newer hosts make? Thanks for the link to the article…..very interesting, indeed!
