Returns not being processed..
I’d like to suggest that when returning items through the post office, you get a receipt. I used the drop down bin at my post office and a few of my returns have not been processed. Since I had no receipt, I am out of luck. Someone suggested to take a photo of the return label but if an item goes missing, that’s still no proof that I mailed it. A receipt is very important so that the item can be tracked.

About 7 years ago I returned a pair of $1200 earrings via USPS. Three weeks later they still had not arrived at HSN for credit. Luckily I had a receipt from the post office that allowed me to prove to HSN that I tried to return them within the 30 day window. It also confirmed what I already expected…the earrings never left the neighborhood post office where I dropped them off. Without a receipt I could not have proved that I dropped them off at this particular post office for return or that I even returned them at all. It was still a huge pain to deal with this but it could have been much worse. So I always get a receipt no matter how grumpy the USPS agent might be.

Thanks to everyone for replying to my post. The ideas presented totally reinforce to me the importance of a receipt.

HSN gives you the tracking# on the invoice. I never wait to have it scanned. I do check it by the tracking# given and it shows it leaving the post office. I have never had any issues with HSN it’s QVC that takes forever.

I learned the hard way I always get a receipt I’m sure someone who works for the post office was wearing my nice leather blazer I returned to QVC for a different size. I have to say I really miss UPS never a problem with delivery or return..

A return label has a tracking number on it. You can track it on the post office website. That’s what I do. You can always insure it for $1 through u-pic if you’re worried. They are great and pay back everything including the cost of postage in the event of a claim, even if the item says delivered and hasn’t been. If buying from a company that abdicates responsibility for parcels once they send them, you can even pay the $1 and insure it yourself.. If you don’t want to use an hsn return label, you can get a shipping label for most items through paypal.com/shipnow for less than through the post office.

Thanks, I have sent back two items recently and I never get a notification or can’t track it. I live in a rural area so I just put the item in my large mail box. I noticed that things have been different lately. I will take your advice and take it to a post office.
