Is this legal???
Watching the Beauty Report Show this morning and I must tell you, it’s downright dishonest when they say the price of an item is the flex pay amount, not the FULL cost of the item. Valerie did this quite often today, and how many viewers were fooled by this deceit?
Most of the “old timers” don’t do this, they say “to get it home” is the flex pay, not the full cost. HSN is losing all credibility if they don’t get the hosts to present products honestly.

The FCC is overloaded with COVID cure and related fraud cases. In good conscience I couldn’t bring this up there. What you can say about pricing varies from State to State so this may be a complicated issue.
-
I believe it is illegal, but I don’t think the hosts are responsible. They may be told to do this. If the real price is shown on TV as they are speaking, they may be off the hook. Broadcast communications are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). I’m going to check with that agency.

Agreed and you don’t have to be mentally challenged to find it annoying.
Dishonest is dishonest! -
Unless your challenged it’s not an issue

I finally saw the beginning of the presentation last night and the host says the full price quickly at the very beginning and the entire rest is the easy pay price.
-
She did that several times today.

it’s a scam. if you live in Florida you can report the attorney general alison moody and report it to the BBB. it’s fraud and deceitful and i agree with who posted the blind, thats a very strong and powerful one and all yhe more reason to report it to florida attorney general. plus the vision impaired

I’m glad to see how others are put off by this dishonest practice. I never watch Amy mainly because she does this all the time. What to do? It doesn’t seem like HSN cares, maybe even encourages the hosts to lie like this. Older viewers are probably the customers who get fooled by these false claims. HSN, stop this now.

It is misleading and absolutely disgusting especially when a blind person is listening and can’t see the real price.. These hosts should be ashamed of themselves.
-
Legal or not, it’s misleading to newbies and annoying to long timers. There are so many better ways to get across the benefits (to some) of flex pay. The worst is when some hosts rarely if ever mention the actual price but rather stress the flex pay.

Tillyboy, have no idea about legalities, but it seems an obvious misleading statement and lessens their credibility , at least to me.
