DO NOT LEAVE BUTTER ON THE COUNTER IT WILL TURN RANCID
Horrible info!!! Shame on HSN. BUTTER LEFT ON THE COUNTER WILL TURN RANCID!!!! THE WRAPPER TELLS YOU TO R E F R I G E R A T E. I HAVE WORKED WITH THE FDA.

I’m glad it’s not just me who thought that was bad information! I know they are trying to sell an item, but they really need to provide proper and appropriate information. Just take the butter out a little while beforehand and it’ll spread! Geez!
-
Are you serious??? I’m 64 years old and we’ve ALWAYS left butter in a container on the counter – it will go rancid if you don’t use it for a week or so, but it’s fine if you use it in a few days. We’ve never had an issue.
-
I was surprised by them saying that as well. You cannot leave butter out on the counter indefinitely. They say anything for a sale.

I don’t know how often you have watched the hosts, but most have complained how cold the studio is. The temperature has always been in the low 40s which is close to the temp in a refrigerator.

I am in my 70’s……..we have never refrigerated our”stick” butter. It is always in a cover butter dish, in our cabinet. My parents, grandparents never refrigerated theirs either. My in-laws were the same way and my mother-in-law was one amazing cook! Non of us ever got sick if it either.
-
My in-laws always used to put their butter in a regular butter dish, cover it, and put it in a drawer! No problems with any of this.
-
Actually it’s both, and it does depend where one lives and the temperature of one kitchen. And for how long one leaves the butter out as how long it takes one to use it. A week, a month?
I leave butter out all the time but, if it just sit there for several days and does not get used up it does go bad.-
@xango, I think I agree. I always refrigerate my butter because I don’t use it often enough to leave it out. @nkr1, it definitely says to refrigerate on the package. Maybe some peeps use butter more often, not allowing it to go bad?.? Well, the good news is you never have worry about bad butter. The bad news is…💔💔💔🙄

I really do think that most who watch cooking shows have cooked for years and know how to store and how to keep their foods. My grandmother, great-grandmother kept a big can of used grease on her stove and cooked with it on a daily basis. We’re all still walking…….😱 I don’t understand why there are so many negative posts and personal attacks on so many threads. The HSN Forum has gotten really ugly. It’s really really sad. 😢

I leave my butter out in a covered butter dish and no problem

Purchase the Butter Crock..it will keep butter good up to a month…usually use it before. They are great and come in so many beautiful colors. Gave many as gifts…Amazon around $24. You will not be sorry!

I’m still alive….and I have been leaving my butter out for years….

We store the main box of sticks in the fridge – but we always have a butter stick in a dish on the counter – so does everyone I know. If we don’t like the look of it over time we just toss it and get another stick from the fridge. To each his own.
