NATIONAL CURRIED CHICKEN DAY

Each year on January 12th, curried chicken lovers enthusiastically celebrate National Curried Chicken Day. They fill their dishes with a variety of flavorful spices and serve them to their friends and family.

NATIONAL PHARMACIST DAY

National Pharmacist Day on January 12th annually recognizes and honors all pharmacists across the nation.

The role of pharmacists has shifted over the years. Where once they served as the classical “lick, stick and pour” dispensary, they now serve as an integrated member of the health care team. Pharmacists are often directly involved in patient care and play a vital role in a patient’s recovery.

Historically, pharmacists primarily checked and distributed drugs to doctors for patient prescribed medication. In modern times, pharmacists advise patients and health care providers on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of prescriptions. Additionally, their role includes being a learned intermediary between a prescriber and a patient. By monitoring the health and progress of patients, pharmacists can then ensure the safe and effective use of medication.

Pharmacists work long hours, usually standing the entire time. Along with dispensing pills and providing advice on medications, pharmacists also administer immunizations. Pharmacists who conduct research discover and test new

I was able to see hubby today. Guess we are both complaining on things that hurt. Hubby had problems with his hands and arms. I am hoping it is weather related, though they shook. It’s the same for me with the legs. Go to do a knee bend and the entire leg shakes. Tomorrow we will be in the 70s for a short while. Another cold front will be approaching. Funny, today was the first time I was comfortable during the visit with hubby. Had on double layers and I was fine until, guess what, they turned the heat on…..He is now missing two blankets. The Sherpa and the one I leant him from the house. Never a dull moment.

I have no idea what happened to our favorite aide. He was a no show for the weekend. We are all hoping he is OK. Well, this week he works three days and has the weekend off. Not sure what is going on. I hope it was a mini vacation.

Hubby was hungry tonight. Normally I have something, but today I was there empty handed. No snacks from any of the aides. I thought of stopping at Culver’s tomorrow. Their fish sandwich is good and so is there chili. However, I did ask, and both are emphatic no can do. So sad because the fish is easy to chew and swallow and the chili is something he loves. I think it is time for a bit of a shake up. Need to make phone calls anyway, so will dial an extra number or two. The reason his hands are shaking is probably due to a lack of vitamins and good food. That includes fresh fruit. I no longer can bring dragon fruit or cut up honeydew. Bananas is also on the no list. Even baked potatoes. Looks like tomorrow my fun will begin.

I do miss our homes up North. Would love to be back there just to check on things. If I leave, have no idea how hubby will be, thus the reason for not traveling. I really miss the change of seasons. Hearing about your snowfall is when I wish I could be in my little office watching the snow fall from the windows. It seems like it’s only a dream nowadays. But then again, there is the flip side of the coin when we wish for warmer days. Just be careful what you wish for.

were let off the Plane in GA. it seems to be an engine problem and during a snow storm.

My niece has to take that same airline to get back to your area. 😎💕

Sheba, I know it’s inconvenient to deplane and possibly miss any connections, but I’m glad they did if safety was a concern. My son was delayed in Chicago but somehow it all worked out with other planes being delayed, so he made his connecting flights. Is your niece freezing in GA after having lived in the So. CA warm weather?
I’ve been watching the news about the fires and learning about how the water tanks and pumps work etc.. and doing laundry.
Hope it isn’t too cold and icy in Oz.
I’m going to try and find a Matlock to watch later.

Glad to get this weekend over, two days of funeral homes.

Weather was a little better, tomorrow will be 33 and that is the warmest until next weekend. Tuesday the high will be 16.🥶 Not sure about any more snow but we had enough last week for me.❄ We’ve already have more snow than the entire winter last year. Mom and sis leave tomorrow and I’m sure they’re glad to get out of the ‘burgh.

I am OK for now. Just having the new problem with the legs, or should I say the new, usual problem. It was nice this morning with clouds and some showers, but of course, that did not help the situation. The leg pain I have been experiencing is definitely the weather change. I was fine yesterday with the temps in the low 70s. But, things changed when I was getting ready to leave the rehab. Poor hubby, how he wanted me to stay the night. But, of course, that was impossible. Rules are rules.

I just made myself a bowl of soup with a cheese sandwich. I used the microwave and it came out OK. Another cold front is approaching. I think I just read where there will be another front on Monday. But, next weekend the temps may be back to the 70s. It is cooler where xango is.

Stay warm. The heat is on here also. Stay safe.

We are about to get more snow in about an hour. I am watching each cat eat in the security
camara. All of them made it through the worse of the weather. I think they each wanted to
know if I was still here. I leave a light on porch so they can see there is food. 💕

I think I will watch a bit of the History Channel I can’t take anymore of the Fires just too
sad. All people were affected. Prayers to all those families.

I hope your legs feel better soon I would just eat my meal and rest. I have the sniffles
from going out feeding the cats. I don’t care I will be just fine.

Good morning in S. California. 😎💕🎈My niece is still in GA but will be heading back your
way next week. The airport is Atlanta had to let 200 people off in the middle of a snow storm.
This while still on the runway what a sight.

I hope she can make it home safe.

Our Oven went out. Shoelady mentioned her refrigerator went out on Christmas, yikes.
Ours was about a week ago and you know I don’t use it a lot. haha. We are waiting for a part and hubs will try that before we decide if we need a new one. It’s not that old, so hopefully it can be repaired.
You mentioned the cats seeing your light go on so they know to come for food. Two days ago we were by the Airport and a car pulled off on a road that was sealed off and it was dark. Anyways, I saw about 4-6 cats run up to the car. I am hoping the person feeds them. Glad it’s not as cold here for them.

Sounds like you are snowed in.🌨 We are getting more tonight. Even the south is getting hit, saw news on Dallas and Nashville. Talked to my SIL in Atlanta yesterday and they were supposed to get snow today along with closing schools and businesses. Summer we had extreme heat, now extreme cold. Pretty soon we will only have two seasons.

Picked up some fried chicken at the grocery store this morning🍗 and made a little potato salad so that’s dinner. Sounds like a summer picnic, lol! Here’s to above freezing temps, I think we have one day in the next week.🥶 Love and hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

NATIONAL BALLOON ASCENSION DAY

National Balloon Ascension Day on January 9th commemorates the first balloon flight in the United States in 1793.

The French aeronaut, Jean Pierre Blanchard, took flight over the Walnut Street Prison in Philadelphia above a large crowd. He ascended in a hydrogen gas balloon, a popular balloon at the time. George Washington witnessed the launch of the balloon, too. That day he lit the fires of fascination with ballooning in Americans.

However, more than hot air balloons also flew in the skies over time. Several varieties of balloons took shape over the next 100 years. Airships inflated by hydrogen and shaped like cigars took to the skies. They were also called blimps. Their engines gave these balloons directional flight and speed.

By the 20th century, large airships with cabins carried passengers. The gas-filled giants eventually disappeared from the skies. Tragedies like the Hindenburg on May 6, 1937, where over a third of the 97 passengers perished when the airship caught fire helped to usher in a new era.

Today, hot air ballooning is enjoyed from the ground and the air. It’s also a scientific tool for weather and other research.

Good day in a colder Florida. I can’t believe I wrote that. Stay nice and warm. 😎😘
I think your food is amazing I am sure your hubby thinks so too.

We are around 4 degrees right now. We will have fresh snow on top of all the snow here
in OZ. The cats are coming and I am so happy and one went into the house the family built. 💕
All my hard work is paying off they are surviving. 💕🎈

So sad about the California Fires my heart goes out who are affected. I think of the animals too.

The media is showing so much images I can’t take it. I am not complaining about snow there
are worse weather to have.

My heart goes out to those in California. So many lost everything, and some their life.
I hope that in the future builders will find a way to avoid such situations. Such as building in a way that prevents fire to attach to a house and go from house to house.

The ravioli turned out wonderfully delicious. I had it for a snack this afternoon with butter and sage.
My cousin’s sister who is much older than her was found in her apartment on the floor. She had fallen and needed assistance. That’s not the first time she was found like that. She can’t take care of herself any longer. She was taken to the hospital and now she is in a rehab. The family will be getting her into a assistant living.

Before that, my cousin’s son suprised her with a visit for the New year. In Brazil you get 30 days of vacation per year. Her son’s aunt also arrived for a visit. At her property you first go through a big gate. Then you climb these huge stairs, huge and high to the form of being for a gaint. Whomever made the stairs, made the steps three times the normal hight.
So by the time you get up there, you are exhausted. His aunt is elderly, and was so tired by the time she got into the house she missed stepped and took a hard fall.
She was black and blue, cut her face and mouth. Its been close to two weeks now and she is getting better.
I hope the weather becomes kinder to your area and gets warm.

from this is us house burned today. Milo was emotional because in a scene from the
show he passed from a fire in his home he lost everything. This is all over the web.

How sad and his wife is pregnant due any day.

Hello from cold Florida 😄 We have the heat on. It’s going to get to 36 degrees this morning. It’s 39 outside right now.
I enjoyed watching the Golden Globes. I was so glad when Demi Moore won. She has made so many good movies in her career and should have been given one before.

The bunnies have been coming around for lettuce and apples. I also put bird seeds out for the cardinals and other birds.
After hubby left for work, he leaves at 5:30 AM, the traffic to Orlando has gotten bad. I went back to bed and woke to some creature walking on the roof. I waited a bit, didn’t hear anymore noise and went back to sleep. I slept in late today, the morning was very cold, and the covers warm and cozy.

Yesterday after I made my bread I enjoy with my morning coffee, I made stuffing to make ravioli. Three different kinds, chicken, spinach and ricotta cheese, and artichokes and chicken. Today January 8th, I make homemade pasta. I used my KitchenAid, I have all the attachements to make pasta. I made the dough allowed it to rest a while. Then I made ravioli and cannelloni placed them on a sheet pan and into the freezer. I also made a tomato sauce and today I want to made a Béchamel sauce. I want to made a few dishes for the freezer. The days I don’t want to cook, I just place in the oven.

I like to try and make a few different pastas and freeze today too.
I was thinking of making pappardelle. Cook a pot roast until the meat just melts in the mouth with onions, garlic, sage, tomatoes and a little shredded carrot. And pair with the pappardelle pasta.
Ok, it’s just about 2:AM and I’m making myself hungry 😋 😄.
The moon is growing and it looks so good from the patio door. The stars are bright and the plants are quite visible.

My legs are fine today. As of right now I can walk, jump, leap and do whatever as if nothing happened. I think the doctor was in the ballpark as the saying goes. It had to be the weather and the barometer. I also just checked on line and there is no recycling or garbage pickup tomorrow. Banks are also closed.

I will not be seeing hubby today. I am waiting for a phone call for an appointment at our bank. Nothing serious. Just something that cannot be dealt with over the phone. And when you do call, though the phone number is for the location near you, the person who answers could be anywhere in the USA.. Nothing is easy these days. Even with a computer.

I am hoping your SIL will be OK. Thankfully, your daughters are there to help with the children and your brother. The trip to CA and pics will sure help to get her mind off things, even for a few minutes. Those fires are devastating.

It is still cold in our parts. We will see some 70 degree weather for a little while on Friday. Then there will be another cold snap, but not as bad as what we had this week. Temps will be in the 60s until the next episode. Maybe the cool down will help keep those hurricanes away in a few months.

Sheba, These devastating fires shine a light on CA’s continual mismanagement. The fire in Pacific Pallisades and Malibu are in Coastal LA. They say no containment. James Wood, the Actor, spoke about his experience. The Getty Museum was well prepared. The smoke causes a lot of damage as well. There are also 2 other fires, with one near Pasadena. I have been listening to the news today. It sounds like you have as well.
Fortunately, we do not have fires here. I think all of the region from Malibu to Coastal South are on alerts.

Hubs watched the old episode of Outer limits that the movie I Robot was based on yesterday. I watch too. It was fun to watch.

Good evening I am so glad you are safe my niece have called all her friends in the affected
areas. I posted before I talked to her she surprised everyone yesterday.

What we are seeing is insane and pure Hades! Mother Nature can be fierce. All that
beautiful area homes and schools just gone.

Taci my neighbor and his girlfriend from SD just got back but they spent time with family
in the affected areas and he is not speaking today very upset and I think his family may
have been affected I am not going to ask too many questions.

We are 10 degrees as I type this post and will be -7 in the morning. I will take the snow
any day.

I am a Twilight Zone Girl I never saw any of the shows until I was an adult my father was
strict we could only watch anything Disney, The Wizard of Oz and Wild Kingdom. Oh but
when I discovered what was out there I went for it. I like older movies because my
grandmother would always have them on and I could do what I want at her house.
Granny’s house was in Tenn. I was free as a bird. I had all my cousins and aunts and uncles
nearby I miss those days. I think working with many famous singers and actors did something
to me I just hope I got enough of their pixie dust on me. 😎💕

I named my dog Sheba because I saw a movie called Come Back Little Sheba. 💕💕😎
Funny thing they never showed Sheba so when I got the right dog I name her Sheba
and I lost her in 2011 hence my name.

Good afternoon, still cold here and still snow showers.🥶❄ The snow is not melting since it is still in the teens and twenties. Hubs did the driveway about four times this week so far.

Not a good week or how I wanted to start the new year. Two different friends of ours had brothers die, one last Saturday and the other this past Monday.😥 This weekend will be spent at two funeral homes.

Good morning in S. California. Taci I wanted to say I think I know why Kathy Bates had
on Gym Shoes at the GG. Kathy is a cancer survivor and she had some major treatments
sometimes I have read those treatments can affect your balance plus she is in her 70’s.
I do enjoy her new show Matlock which was up for a GG. I think she said forget about
the heels I am going to be comfortable. LOL! 😎🎈

You know I would have worn the same heels as the best dressed. 😎

Cuddling also boosts desire. Dopamine is released, stimulating the brain to seek pleasure. But dopamine also can improve memory and focus as well.

Yes, I phoned the doctor this morning. It took until this afternoon to reach the office. Their phone lines had never been son busy. I received a call back later and the Assistant informed me they had hundreds of calls for the same reason. Seems the storm hit many of us in different ways. Mine was pain that I never had before in both legs from the thigh down. Didn’t matter what age you are,. He called it “The Barometer Illness.” If I have problems walking by the end of the week, then I will need to see him next week to start tests. But, he is quite sure it has something to do with the storm and the cooler temps in Florida. Says it is a form of arthritis. Gosh, I never invited this thing here in the first place. Heating pad and Aspirin.

I hope everything is OK with your SIL. The oncologist must have a feeling of what is going on. I never thought in a million years that something was amiss. Please keep us posted.

I have the heat on and it is comfortable. When I left the rehab the temp was still in the upper 60s, but the wind has started and it rained during my visit. Just before I left I received a phone call from the social worker. Looks like the glasses are lost forever. But I did inquire about the outcome from last year’s visit with the ophthalmologist. From what I was told, the physician sent everything to Motor Vehicles. Unfortunately, the requested form for MV was never completed even though I gave it to the Head Nurse/Unit Mgr… Also, as I was leaving, I saw a bus go by and learned that the service is for those who are handicapped. They actually go to the person’s home and help transport to doctor appointments. I definitely will make a phone call for more info.

The weather is brutal here but we have the Sun. The two States are shut down due to Ice and

Sounds like everyone is digging out in your area. We did not get hit bad, most of the storm stayed south of us. Hubs shoveled the driveway, maybe two inches or so. But still cold all week.🥶

That was a very weird game, I don’t think any of them wanted to play or cared.🙄 Can’t even remember the last time they were shut out. Hope they don’t get too lazy with a couple weeks off.

NATIONAL KETO DAY

National Keto Day hits January 5th with an approach to transforming our health. Recent research suggests the high-fat, low-carb ketogenic or ‘keto’ diet offers a number of benefits.

Benefits
Two of the most significant perks seen with the keto diet are weight loss and healthy blood sugar support. In fact, studies have shown improved glycemic control for those with type 2 diabetes while adhering to a ketogenic diet.

How does the diet work? By eliminating carbohydrates, your body will use up its store of glycogen first. Then it will move into ketosis and begin burning fat.

Good afternoon in warm Florida. 😎🎈💕Any place is warmer then OZ. We are in the
teens with ice under the snow. Poppy got lost in the snow out back and I had to go find
him. This weather is not good for animal or humans. Xango both States are closed due
to the weather this is MO/KAN the highways are sheer ice.

We still have more snow to come and will be around -3 tomorrow right now they are
cancelling schools everywhere. I am thankful we still have power. We have many across
Stateline that don’t have power.

Enjoy this Sunday we are used to this in the Midwest it’s called winter. 😎 We don’t always
like it but we deal with it regardless.

Hi, I hope you are keeping yourselves warm. Winter is sure coming in strong over your neck of the woods.
Reading your post made me remember the time my mom got off work and Washington, DC had ice rain. All side walks and roads had a sheet of ice. Even though we live just on the other side of the street literally. It was a difficult task walking across the road and into our building. Two men, one on each side of my mom had to help her home.
Here in Florida, we are expecting cold nights this coming week. All the way down to 36 degrees. Florida does get very cold in the winter nights, freezing too.

Brazil is having a heat wave, my cousin said it’s very hot. Her son suprised her, he
sent her a kitten for Christmas. Her son lives in a different state. The kitten arrived just before Christmas. Delivered with all the necessary items such as food, litter for the litter box, a blanket, etc. All in a huge box, including the kitten, that from his picture looks like a Persian cat. She had to adjust to having a cat again. She lost the one she had for three years. He became very sick and didn’t recover.

I am watching the 82nd Golden Globes. Lots of commercials.

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎💕🎈How are you doing with your leg?
Were you able to visit your husband? I know one thing at a time.

Oodie as you know we are frozen in OZ the media is saying stay off the roads. This is
a big storm and my State is not the only one. We will not be above freezing for nine days.

I will take Poppy in the back yard to his spot. Poppy got lost in all the thick snow. I will carry
him once he is done. The kids did a great job when they were home no cats in the house
this morning. I have cameras they pan the house so we are looking out for them.

Oodie I hope everything is alright for you and I know you want to talk to some of the
medical staff about your husband’s diet and how to get your home ready for his return. 💕

Hi and a goog breed evening to you. It was both.legs that made walking very difficult. When I was able decided to check the computer. It could be from the cold at the rehab. When I mention cold I had on a turtleneck jersey with long sleeves, a long sleeved sweater and a sweater. I also brought a Shadow blanket from home and I still shivered. I did not see hubby for 3 days. To walk, I held on to chairs, walls, boxes etc.. Today, although still in pain visiting hubby. He needed meds for lower back pain and now I surmise it is weather related. I have a feeling that what I am going through are the low barometer pressure readings from the storm. It is a huge relief to be able to drive and to visit. Hubby is ok. Me, l am getting there.Our weather, though warmer than yours, still feels like New England. But, like xango, cannot complain since it normally lasts just few days. But this week will be a bit different. We will have three cold fronts without seeing temps in the 70s. We will be lucky to see temps in the low 60s. Night time in some areas will see 30s. Others 40s. Guess we are all in this together.

A suggestion for Poppy. Maybe make AA path with your feet going to the tree and also around the tree. Just a shuffle will do so that you don’t slip and slide. Hope your hubby takes tomorrow off and that the power stays on.

I. also enjoyed watching Heidi’s visit. Felt good to laugh a bit. By the way, how is your SIL doing. Things should be starting to look a tad better. I pray that she will be able to stand the chemo. Some days will be better than others. Prayers are being sent. Guess it’s time for me to head home. Stay safe and warm.

I think the entire State if off everything is shut down. There is a sheet of ice under the snow.

I keep getting alerts do not go out well duh. 😎I will have hubby make a path for Poppy
my poor baby was lost.

Oodie my SIL still has six more chemo to go and she had a emergency MRI for some reason
we will know more next week as of now she is hanging in there. The entire family are helping
them out.

So glad you saw your hubby and please call your doctor about your legs tomorrow.
Oodie if you were in these parts you could not even get to the doctor.

We had roast and veggies yesterday I was going to make stew.

I am saving leftovers as this storm is not over yet. Mr. Poppy got lost in all that snow.
I went and got my baby and I carried him in the house. 😎

Taci have a fun and safe day hiking I may be on my treadmill in the family room.
I like to keep things moving. 😎

Sheba, Oz sounds treacherous. Stay in and enjoy the stew and Golden Globes. Most people dress so well and it reflects the effort they put into getting dressed ( from your above pictures).
I will say sneakers, not so good. I think she could find some comfortable shoes that would work much better. Clark’s anyone? Maybe that’s off brand for her Look? Hubs has an old movie on so I am watching that with him for now.

Good day in the cold ‘burgh. I know OZ is frozen and will be for at least nine more days.
Game Day it is what it is. The team made to Colorado. My family is calling me to make
sure we are alright. Lady our streets are sheer ice and the side streets have ice on the bottom
and snow on the top we are below freezing.

All school are closed as is all churches. We are ready and it’s not our first day at the Rodeo.
Stay warm and inside that is all any of us can do. I am thankful for the people who do have
to go out like first responders and hospital staff and let’s not forget grocery workers if there
is anything left on the shelf. The store shelves were bare yesterday.

All that you have is heading for us overnight and through tomorrow.🥶 They keep changing the snow predictions – right now it is 4-6 inches.❄ Also, same temps, highs in the 20s and lows in the teens and single digits, brrrr! Like you, I am making a meatloaf today which is always at least a two-day meal. If the power goes out we can at least have sandwiches tomorrow.

I will be watching the game while I cook.🏈 I’m glad it will be a no worries game. Golden Globes later this evening.
