NATIONAL PEPPER POT DAY

National Pepper Pot Day celebrates a soup with deep roots and a mythology to go with it. On December 29th, explore the flavors and history of the filling dish.

Pepper pot soup is a highly seasoned soup prepared with peppercorns, small bits of meat, tripe, vegetables, and broth. The dish may be more familiar by the name of Philadelphia Pepper Pot because it was brought to the area by people from Africa, the West Indies, and the Caribbean. Colonial Black women served the dish in their homes, the homes where they worked, and in markets. It’s considered an early street food by many historians.

Sheba, Happy Saturday evening! Well, I shouldn’t admit this but in my mind 20’s ish years I used to buy one box a See’s candy 1 time a year if I kept my weight in check. Yah, can’t do that anymore but now we have Choco to the rescue. 🙂
I tried the peppermint sencha tea and am hooked. Awaiting my order of a variety box.

Are you ready for the new year? 2025, wow how time goes by fast. I can remember the 1970’s and the 1980’s so vivid. Doesn’t seem that long ago when we were scared at work of the computers turning from 1999 to 2000.

The temperatures here remains in the high 70’s. And 60’s during the night.
It will be lower this coming Wednesday. Which the temperature in the evenings will be in the 40’s for a few days.
