I am now getting ready to visit hubby. Though the mileage is short, it does go through some rough areas. I will not be staying late and that is the tough part. Our area has fireworks that start around 8 or 9 pm and continue until 1 am or so. The beauty goes East and West, North and South. and also in the front of our homes as well. My wish as you know is to bring hubby home. I am more than positive that he will do better here than in the Rehab. Last night I picked up a fish sandwich from Culvers. After a taste I did a no and no and took off a nice size piece for hubby. He gave an eye roll upon tasting it. It was delicious. Also it melted in your mouth. I cannot wait to bring him an entire pizza, fish sandwich and the homemade soup from our market. I also hope your girls are enjoying the New Year and I pray that your SIL will go into a good remission that will bring good health to her not only this New Year but all the years that come following. I pray she will beat the odds.

NATIONAL PEPPER POT DAY

National Pepper Pot Day celebrates a soup with deep roots and a mythology to go with it. On December 29th, explore the flavors and history of the filling dish.

Pepper pot soup is a highly seasoned soup prepared with peppercorns, small bits of meat, tripe, vegetables, and broth. The dish may be more familiar by the name of Philadelphia Pepper Pot because it was brought to the area by people from Africa, the West Indies, and the Caribbean. Colonial Black women served the dish in their homes, the homes where they worked, and in markets. It’s considered an early street food by many historians.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie I hope all is well with you and hubby.
OZ is alright today for now we are in the low 50’s but it will not last long big drop is coming
tomorrow. Poppy got groom and really look good. 💕😘

The kids are spoiling him I had a neighbor next door former cat come and visit me. 💕
I am going down the street to visit both cats as I took care of them when the neighbor
first brought them home to his daughter. 🎈

Oodie drive safely out there. 😎I hope you are liking your new microwave I really like mine
because I did miss it.

On the way home from Rehab, my car stated that it was 71 degrees. That was just about a half hour ago. However, it had rained and on the way home it was drizzling. Or at least I thought. The drizzle soon gave way to a heavy downpour. This is the beginning of our week of lower temps. You are not alone with this cold snap. This rain will give way to less humidity. Another cold front tomorrow, but it will still be temps in the 70s and 60s at night. Then comes Wednesday and another front will hit us. Temps during the day will or may have problems getting into the 60s. Night time highs will be in the 40s. This will last through the weekend. And this is only the beginning of winter.

Hubby is hungry even after dinner. I cannot bring any food. So for now, I either eat a little something before I head to the rehab or wait until I get home and have a small feast. I have yet to get to Sam’s Club or to Costco. I used the weekend to catch up on sleep and to do nothing. Tomorrow is garbage pickup. That is all set. I surmise our usual pickup for garbage and the Recycle will be on Friday. I will just do the Recycle since Monday is just a few days later.

I can just imagine Poppy is strutting to show off his new hairdo. I hope the kitties will use their new place to keep warm. Have a nice evening and enjoy the company.

Good evening so nice to see you post as I know you are tired. So sorry your husband is
still hungry I don’t agree with this and I hope you talk with someone about that.

I see nothing wrong with you bringing him some food as long as it is safe for him
to swallow. Good grief are they even checking his glucose? My prayers is one that
he is home soon it does not have to be perfect just safe for him to move a bit.

Oodie my niece who lives in GA took her little dog on the Plane to New York City. Niece have
sent me pics of Central Park West and Grand Central Station she said she is visiting the New York Library. 💕😎
Niece has friends who lived there and I had no idea she was taking her little dog. I love it. 💕
Poppy is the center of attention and he is loving it he loves everyone. I think the groomer did a great job.
I did tip her very well. Poppy could not wait to get out of there. LOL!

We were overcast and cloudy today. I hiked and it was awesome!
I went to purchase a gift card for my hair dresser and asked about if they had issues with the card numbers being stolen and they said yes. So sad 🙁 .
I will give her the cash. Sad huh. it is so risky here to even buy a gift card. I did that last year and she seemed to like it.
Where is your lovely neighbor visiting for the new year? You know where’s waldo but much better. 🙂

Good evening my neighbor is still in California this time with his family they live on both
Northern and Southern California. 😎🎈I heard from my friend/neighbor who moved to
Palm Springs and he is having a great time. I miss him so much we would talk every
morning while I was finished walking Poppy he has two PH.D’s. I will venture to the
neighbor right next door to his house for my annual drop in and Happy New Year Cheers.🎈😎

I will be wearing a red Heidi Daus Swarovski Suite from head to toe and I have shown it on
the Heidi Daus Thread many times. 😎🎈I don’t stay all night because in this area they like
to shoot guns to celebrate. I worry about the cats and Poppy. One year a kid was killed by
a fly away bullet so sad. I just get home in time to lock up and be safe. 😎🎈

Taci Happy New Year and thank you for thinking of my family. I have to say she will be in
Chemo on New Year’s Eve I mean this will be a powerful punch for her. We are all saying
prayers. My brother tells me she is enjoying the tea I sent her. 💕😎

I had a great walk with Poppy and kids today was sunny and warm the rest of week not
so much. I think Ole man winter will be back to stay. I think I will attend Mass again tomorrow.
I want to light a candle for all who are ill in my family. 🎈💕

Greetings on this Sunday, doesn’t feel like Sunday with our football team not playing. They will get a nice rest to end the year.🎉 I did see pics of T&T out and about in NYC.

We hit 64 yesterday, rainy and around 60 today and by Friday the high will be 28.🥶 That cold front you’re getting will make its way east.

Funny how you get so used to things. I open my fridge and can’t find where I put anything and I know I put it in there yesterday!🙄 It’s like a puzzle to test my brain.🧠

Good evening the days seem so weird but I am enjoying them. 💕😎I think by the end
of the week you and the new fridge will be doing fine. I do know the feeling.

Our temps here in OZ are going down so we had a couple days of wonderful weather
now back to winter. 💕

The kids leave tomorrow evening I am glad because a lot of glitches are happing all over
with the airlines. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is one of the world’s busiest
Airport ask your SIL. I will miss them so much but at least they will be there for my SIL Chemo.
I am so happy about that. We lost President Carter who is from GA. I always thought he and
his wife had so much grace and may he RIP and be with his wife who is waiting. 💕

My mom (may she RIP) always invited widows and widowers to her home for New Year’s and other events as well. She often said that when a spouse leaves to always include the other person in what you do. All too often I have seen the spouse alone and have always remembered my mom’s sentiment. Losing your parents is tough, but the loss of the spouse is worse even when you know they will not be around too much longer. I am happy that you are having a lunch date. For a little while it will be like old times. But the first holidays are always the hardest or so it seems.

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CANDY DAY

National Chocolate Candy Day offers an opportunity for us to polish off the last of the specialty candies we received as gifts. Celebrated on December 28th, the day points us to the truffles and chocolate oranges tucked into stockings. NATIONAL SHORT FILM DAY

On December 28th, National Short Film Day commemorates the day the motion picture industry was born, when the Lumière brothers projected a program of short films to a public audience for the first time.

In 1895 at the Grand Café in Paris, two brothers sparked the world’s love of cinema. Auguste and Louis Lumière brought that fascination to life first in a paying audience of 33 customers. That day, the film pioneers presented 10 short films, each about 50 seconds in length. To the amazement of all those in attendance, the brothers captured everyday events on film and played them back as moving pictures. The experience of “watching movies” came alive that day. And it all began with those first 10 short films.

Today, short films come in many genres, lengths, and styles. They entertain us with animation, fantasy, comedy, and drama. They also inform and educate us through documentary subjects that provide revealing insights into real-life stories we may have never known before.

In short, short films continue to move us, just as they did that first time over 120 years ago!

HOLY INNOCENTS DAY

Holy Innocents Day, observed annually on December 28th. The day commemorates the execution of the innocent, male children in Bethlehem as told in Matthew 2:16.

Also known as the Feast of the Holy Innocents (and referred to as Childermas), the day refers to King Herod’s order found in Matthew’s account of the king’s reaction to the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy. This day is observed in the Western churches on December 28th and Eastern churches on December 29th. These children are considered martyrs, Saints of God, by the Church.

Hello Sheba 🌹 Chocolate for me is like potato chips, I can’t have just one 😄.
Are you ready for the new year? 2025, wow how time goes by fast. I can remember the 1970’s and the 1980’s so vivid. Doesn’t seem that long ago when we were scared at work of the computers turning from 1999 to 2000.

The temperatures here remains in the high 70’s. And 60’s during the night.
It will be lower this coming Wednesday. Which the temperature in the evenings will be in the 40’s for a few days.

Is today Saturday?? Yeah, I think so.🙄 Got my new refrigerator delivered this morning. Living out of coolers on the deck was getting tiresome. Outside is the same, inside is a little different and will take time getting used to. Not the Christmas gift I requested.

I think we hit 60 today, great temp for the end of December.🔥 National Chocolate Candy day is everyday in my house.🍫 My husband loves it and there’s always a bag or box around somewhere. And I usually eat more than one piece.😮

Taking my friend to lunch/dinner either Monday or Tuesday. I hope I can help with a little comfort in her life right now.

Dating back to ancient Rome, one of the earliest known recipes lists pomegranate seeds, pine nuts, and raisins mixed into barley mash. Records indicate that in the Middle Ages, makers added honey, spices, and preserved fruits. Recipes for fruitcakes vary from country to country, depending on available ingredients and tradition.

In the 16th century, two achievements crystallized to make fruitcakes more affordable and accessible. First, sugar from the American Colonies became abundant. Second, it was discovered that high concentrations of sugar could preserve fruits. These two actions resulted in excess candied fruit. Consequently, fruitcake making grew.

Good morning. Had problems with the Ethernet and it took me two hours to figure out why. So here I sit, wide awake, which means nothing will get done today. I will be going to Sam’s Club later today to gas up and to go inside the warehouse. I need bottled water and will pick up the Smart Water since they are the only ones that carry it.

I was with hubby tonight and he was amazing. He was able to move around a lot more and I’m getting the feeling that he may be able to stand pretty soon. Our favorite aide was in and will be on all weekend. I started a book and was able to finish it. Lovely story by Baldacci called “Christmas Train.” It was made into a movie for Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Not having a working TV makes life a bit more challenging. I also started reading Iris Arpel’s book. Amazing lady. And her humor is just what I needed. I never laughed so hard or so much. There were times that I thought I would fall off the chair. Hmm….wonder if your SIL would enjoy the book.
Comedy is one of the best things for an illness besides chicken soup, veggies, fruit, etc..

NATIONAL WHINERS DAY

As the year starts to wind down, National Whiners Day on December 26th allows an opportunity to complain about just roughly anything. If you want, you are allowed to whine about being too tired, or overeating. Maybe you want to whine about having to go back to work or all the cleaning up you have to do. Are the lines long in the return aisle at the store? You can whine about that, too. The possibilities are endless.

However, two essential parts of the day to remember are:

No whining about what you did not get for Christmas or do not have
And remember what you do have
Many people are less fortunate than others. Some are struggling to put food on the table or a roof over their heads. Others have no family or friends. Families without a single gift under the tree may simply be thankful to have each other. Others may be fighting disease and illnesses, and some may have coped with all of these. You may want to whine about something (and today you are allowed) but remember to be thankful for each gift you did receive and all that you do have. (And help others when you can).

National Candy Cane Day on December 26th gives candy lovers a day to celebrate the red and white striped candies found abundantly during the holidays.

Good afternoon from the city of the losing team!😂 I was glad to see the second half was not close and I didn’t have to worry. PM looked good and our newspaper said the same.

I had a crazy Christmas eve and Christmas. Woke up Christmas eve to a dead refrigerator. Sooo, I had to run out with the last minute shoppers to find a new one. It was ordered and will be delivered on Saturday. I have various coolers on my deck with refrigerated items and bags of ice in my freezer. I know I will have to throw some meat/fish out but my freezer was loaded so trying to save what I can. That was an unexpected Christmas present, for sure!😫

CHRISTMAS DAY

Every year on December 25th, over 2 billion people around the world celebrate Christmas Day. Traditionally, Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Nonreligious people and those of different faiths celebrate the day as a cultural event.

Also known as Christmas Day, this holiday is derived from the Old English Crīstesmæsse which means Christ’s Mass. Today, Christmas is a public holiday in most countries. Only about a dozen countries do not recognize Christmas as a public holiday. Christmas traditions vary around the world and have evolved over time. They borrow from other traditions and cultures, too. Over time, beliefs and customs blended as peoples migrated and attitudes changed.

One of the most popular Christmas customs is gift-giving. This custom has its roots in the Magi who brought gifts to Jesus shortly after his birth. Unfortunately, the gift-giving aspect of Christmas has led to its commercialization. On average, Americans spend $700 on Christmas gifts and goodies. Altogether, this equals $465 billion. In recent years, there has been a call to simplify the holiday and to get back to the “reason for the season.”

CHANUKAH

Chanukah also spelled Hanukkah and known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the re-dedication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. Hanukkah (Hebrew: חֲנֻכָּה, usually spelled חנוכה pronounced [χanuˈka] in Modern Hebrew, also romanized as Chanukah or Chanuka), is observed for eight nights and days. According to the Hebrew calendar, it starts on the 25th day of Kislev, which may occur from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar.

Hanukkah is less religiously significant than other Jewish holidays.
The menorah holds nine candles. In the center stands the shamus or servant. The shamus lights the eight other Hanukkah candles.
The Hanukkah candles are strictly for pleasure. They are not to be used for any useful or productive purpose. The shamus is available, so the Hanukkah candles are not accidentally used to light a fire in the fireplace or for another useful purpose.
Gift-giving is not traditionally a part of the Hanukkah holiday.
Playing dreidel is a gambling game popular during the Hanukkah holiday.

On December 25th, National Pumpkin Pie Day dishes up the slice many Americans are looking for around the dinner table. As they enjoy time with family or friends, they also take the opportunity to honor the ever-humble and often favored pumpkin pie.

A’PHABET DAY OR NO “L” DAY

A’Phabet Day or No “L” Day on December 25th brings a pun to Christmas Day. The play on words is a pun on the word Noël, which is especially notable during Christmas because it means “to be born.”

Merry Christmas. If I didn’t know we were in Florida, I could have sworn we were in Ct.. I had to return to the car for my tote with Kindle Fire. It felt like it was going to snow any minute.

I also needed to purchase a new microwave. Mine died the same time as yours. Funny, everything was in working order except the cooking part. I contacted Lowes and actually purchased the LG. This was the exact model to the one that died after 7 years. Delivery was

Late morning on Monday. Just prior to the installation I wanted to make a poached egg. That’s when I noticed a huge crack that went from one end to the other. I do not know what caused it. This is also a GE.. I asked the installer if he knew anyone that did repairs. He said I should purchase a new one. After he left, I went online and googled glass top stove repair and found several that do this type of work. I will contact them following Christmas and then make a decision if a new one is needed. It’s unreal that both of us needed new appliances almost at the same time.

Hubby is doing ok. The meal today left alot to be desired. Best part, we were together for dinner.
Not often do I eat the food in rehab.

I arrived home about an hour ago so I could eat. The rehab invited visitors and family members to dine with their loved ones at lunch today. The cost was $4 per person. The meal was edible. Hubby left quite a bit of food and i had to ask if there was dessert for him. Everyone had chocolate cake with frosting for dessert. Hubby felt left out. I stayed for his dinner which was served around 5 pm.. It smelled delicious and according to hubby it was. He had the chocolate cake for dessert at dinner and fell asleep on a full stomach.

I am not sure what caused the crack on my electric stove. It was doing fine up until I started using the hex clad and WP’s cookware. Neither one is that heavy. I only use high heat on pasta until it boils. However, I haven’t had pasta in months. I wonder if the new roaster for the turkey or the new pan for making the stuffing did it. Then again I used the stove top last week without a problem for meals. Nothing fell so that’s not the problem. I also need to contact Lowes since I purchased the stove from them. I did some research and did find that one should not use ceramic on a glass top. I do not have ceramic unless WP’s cookware has it. No mention of this in the write up on HSN. I will check on this later.

Congratulations on the Chiefs win. I also read where the girls arrived and you all had a great time making those pies. By the way, many years ago I attended Christmas Eve mass with my roommate from college. I found it very interesting. I was impressed with the congregation opening their hearts and arms to welcome me. I cannot put into words the emotions that came over me during and after the service. I was mesmerized then and it continues to this day .
It is cold again in Florida. Suffice to say the temp is in the low 60s, but it feels like the 40s. We had showers on and off today and more is expected tomorrow. I assume this is just another weather change. It’s that time of year. Actually, beginning in July and through the first couple of weeks in September, I long for the cooler temps and low humidity. I enjoy wearing layers that one can discard as the temps begin to climb. Not a beach day, that’s for sure.

climates. LOL! My next door neighbor is in your area and will travel to N. California to
visit his family. My neighbor friend across the street she is kicking it in Key West, Florida

I am enjoying my family and all the animals. The food is smells so good. We will eat

Sheba, my area seems the opposite of yours. Most are here, houses are all lit up and I hear the cars and delivery trucks coming and going. I tend to lay low on the holidays and avoid crowds. We had a nice day at home. My son’s schedule is difficult since he’s been busy at work, so we will go out when the timing is better. It was hard for me too during my working years as this was a peak season but in reality, the peak season lasted all year. Well do tell… has Taylor’s jacket visited?
