Conversation 25
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 25 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

NATIONAL ROOT BEER DAY
June 17 is National Root Beer Day and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the refreshingly frosty soda known as root beer. Celebrating this beverage holiday is as easy as gathering some friends and some of root beer to enjoy together. What are you waiting for?
Commercial root beer production in the United States has been around since 1875. Producers traditionally use molasses and elements of sassafras as the main ingredients. Today, over 100 brands of root beer are produced with a range of flavors. Some add extra punches of vanilla while others lean on the caramel flavors. Some have a bitter bite while others are smooth from start to finish.

NATIONAL APPLE STRUDEL DAY
On June 17 get whirled up in pastry dough, apples, and spices and celebrate National Apple Strudel Day. In German, the word strudel means whirlpool or eddy. This tasty dessert is perfectly described in its German language as the sweet mixture of fruit, sugar, spices, and layers of thin dough rolled together and baked. The result is a bubbling, flaky treat.
As a breakfast item or dessert, apple strudel goes well with coffee and tea. Consider adding it to a brunch or bake ahead for guests. Often served at bakeries and coffee shops, strudel can also be a savory dish.

NATIONAL EAT YOUR VEGETABLES DAY
National Eat Your Vegetables Day on June 17 falls in the middle of National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month. Today’s celebration is one more opportunity to remind everyone to continue with this part of a healthy diet.
As part of the main meal or as a snack, vegetables can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Of course, each vegetable has its own nutritional content. Generally, they contain a little protein or fat and varying proportions of vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin K and Vitamin B6, provitamins, dietary minerals, and carbohydrates. Interestingly, they also contain a variety of other phytochemicals, some of which have antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anticarcinogenic properties. In addition, many vegetables also contain fiber, which is important for gastrointestinal function. Another benefit is the essential nutrients that vegetables contain that are necessary for healthy hair and skin.
Vegetables are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
When eating a diet consisting of the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables, it may help lower the risk of heart diseases and type 2 diabetes. These diets may also help to decrease bone loss and protect against some cancers. In addition, the potassium provided may help prevent the formation of kidney stones.
It is recommended by the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans to consume 3 to 5 servings of vegetables per day. However, this recommendation may vary depending on age and gender. For example, one serving of vegetables is equivalent of 1/2 to 1 cup and can be eaten either raw or cooked.

What lovely gifs to look at and wonder if I could step in and be part of that scene.
I do know your feeling on visiting the gravesite. It tends to pull you a part and for a few minutes punches a hole in your heart. I wish I could visit my parents as well. Maybe someday. Where my parents are buried used to be a beautiful place with flowers and trees. Today it is in the middle of gunfire, killings, etc.. The world has changed and some things are not easy to come by.
I left early to see my hubby today. Packed my dinner and quite a few tidbits for him as well. The air was hot, humid, with temps in the 90s and I have no idea on the humidity. Suffice to say, the air quality wasn’t good.
The traffic on Sundays is light, but took me longer because I missed all 8 traffic lights and had to wait at the “round about” to make my right hand turn. Hubby was in bed when I arrived. He looked like he had been through the mill. He was not coherent. He had no idea where he was. The aid came in and had me follow him into the hallway. There I was told that when he came on at 3:30 pm he found hubby’s area emptied. He searched high and low and finally found him outside with no water and quite dehydrated. He didn’t speak. He was almost past out. He said as he wheeled hubby towards his room he called for help from the other aids and the on duty nurse. They got him into bed. Stripped him and immediately started hydrating him along with washing him down (there are no showers on Sundays). They actually washed the mattress and changed the linens while he was in bed. About an hour before I left, he started coming around and began joking with everyone. Tomorrow I will be reporting this incident to the health department and our health insurance and to the Elderly Council here in Florida. I will also make it known to the Administrator of the Rehab and to the Head Nurse. I’m not sure if one of the Aids took him outside or if he did this on his own. He was in the wheelchair when this occurred. Hubby loves the summer and the warm or rather hot days. It doesn’t really bother him. But, in this exceptional high heat and humidity he should not have stayed out more than 5 or 10 minutes. No one bothered to check until the aid came in for the second shift. Tomorrow, the aid will bring hubby to the TV room. Both of us will strip the bed and I will be cleaning the entire bed and frame with “Clean Boss” as well as both sides of the mattress. I am absolutely livid…..
