NATIONAL STRAWBERRY PARFAIT DAY

National Strawberry Parfait Day on June 25 comes around each year during the perfect time – peak strawberry season. This food holiday offers a terrific opportunity to explore your farmer’s markets for fresh-picked strawberries.

Parfait is French for perfect. The traditional parfait is a dessert of ice cream or frozen custard layered with fruit and whipped cream in a tall stemmed glass. An additional topping of whipped cream garnishes the dessert. Today, we often replace the ice cream with yogurt or pudding and layers of granola. That’s a perfect parfait if anyone is asking.

Strawberries are not only in season during June, but they are also an excellent source of Vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, and fiber. At 55 calories and zero fat per 1 cup, these sweet things hit the spot when snack time is calling! When making parfaits, don’t just reserve them for dessert. If serving them with yogurt and granola, they make a delicious breakfast and snack, too.

June 25 is a day someone may want to hold your hand and ask you to please, please be true because they love you yeah, yeah, yeah. Global Beatles Day or GBD commemorates The Beatles music and their shake-up of the music world.

It’s unlikely you don’t know who the Beatles are, but just in case, they were an English rock band from the 1960s. The rock quartet consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star.

The Beatles are considered one of the most influential bands of all time. They made their debut in the U.S. and took the country by storm with their unique sound of combining folk, rock, and sometimes trippy musical genre. They have sold over 600 million albums worldwide and is considered to be the highest selling musical group ever.

NATIONAL CATFISH DAY

In the United States, National Catfish Day on June 25 each year to celebrate the value of farm-raised catfish. Dive in with us as we explore some interesting facts you may not have known about catfish.

A diverse group of ray-finned fish, catfish are named for their prominent barbels, which resemble cat whiskers. These nocturnal swimmers don’t have any scales. Their smooth flesh makes it difficult for anglers to clean. In the United States, the most commonly eaten species of catfish are the channel catfish and blue catfish. They are also a good source of Vitamin D.

A favorite dish of many Americans, this fine finned fish can be prepared in many different ways. Traditionally, many catfish lovers coat the fish in cornmeal and fry it. While many people prepare only the filets when cooking fish, when it comes to catfish, others prefer the fish cooked whole. No matter the method, this tender whitefish comes delicately off the bone. Spices complement this freshwater fish, too. However, it is also delicious served with a milder touch. A little lemon and butter go a long way. Those who love it fried will eat the crispy tail right away to savor the crunch!

I am so sorry to read about your nephew. I pray that he starts to recover soon. And that the authorities find the person that hit him. Also I am sorry for your loss. You certainly have gone through a lot.
I though you were having power outages, and couldn’t post.
I do hope you feel better, and your headache goes away.

I had labs this morning and hubby his Cardiologist appointment this afternoon.
