CHOCOLATE MACAROON DAY

June 3 is National Chocolate Macaroon Day on the National Day Calendar. Today, we are celebrating the tasty mix of chocolate in our macaroons!

But, since today is Chocolate Macaroon Day, chocolate is added to the batter to make a sweet sensation even sweeter.

Mark your calendars because June 2 is National Leave the Office Early Day. This quirky National Day is intended to be an incentive to those who often work more than 40 hours each week. We are reminding you to take a little time for yourself every once in a while.

About a third of Americans work more than 40 hours per week. Some work even more than that. Those who are self-employed or who work two jobs, likely work 60-80 hours per week. Those types of hours don’t leave much for family, self-care, or home maintenance. Stress piles up and so do the phone calls from mom, the grandkids, and maybe the gym wondering where you’ve been. It’s time to get yourself away from your desk and make the most of your time.

NATIONAL EGG DAY

National Egg Day falls on June 3 on the National Day Calendar and it’s a perfect time to get a crack on celebrating this food holiday.

Eggs are a nutrient-rich food that has gone back and forth with science and nutritionists over the decades with people asking how many eggs are too many for a healthy diet. Whatever the decision is this year, we know one egg provides an excellent source of protein and vitamin D. At 75 calories and 5 grams of fat, it’s an easy choice to satisfy hunger, too.

Planetary alignment is an astronomical term used to describe the event when several planets gather closely on one side of the Sun at the same time.

Planetary parade is a colloquial term that means, in the broadest sense, that several planets are present in the sky in one night.

The next planetary alignment will take place on June 3, 2024. In the early morning, six planets — Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, , and Neptune — will align in the sky. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn may be spotted with the naked eye, but you’ll need a telescope or high-powered binoculars to see Neptune and . Let’s take a closer look at the conditions for observing the planets.

Yellowish Saturn (mag 1.1) will be in the sky from late night on. It will be visible with the naked eye in the constellation Aquarius. Neptune (mag 7.9) will be located in the nearby constellation Pisces, but you’ll need high-powered binoculars to spot it.

A little later, Mars (mag 1.0) will rise. You can distinguish the planet by its reddish tint. The planet will also be located in the constellation Pisces and will be visible to the naked eye.

Then, at dawn, (mag 5.8), Jupiter (mag -2.0), and Mercury (mag -1.4) will appear on the eastern horizon. Jupiter will be bright enough to see with the naked eye, and with a little luck, you’ll be able to see Mercury without optics, too. However, it will be harder, as Mercury is located close to the Sun. will only be visible through binoculars. The three planets will be located in the constellation Taurus.
