Conversation 24
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 24 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

“Lost Between The Moon And New York City”Once in your life you’ll find him
Someone who turns your heart around
And next thing you know you’re closing down the town
Wake up and he’s still with you

NATIONAL PICNIC DAY
On April 23rd, National Picnic Day encourages everyone to pack up their lunch and take it outdoors. Picnics are a terrific way to enjoy a meal outdoors in the company of friends and family.
There are a variety of ways to take part in a picnic. This meal hearkens back to mid-18th-century al fresco French dining when all you needed was a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, some cheese, and fruit and you could have a party under the sky.
From the French for piquenique, picnicmeans a meal eaten outdoors.
From barbecues to simple cold plates, picnics are light informal affairs intended to be relaxing and fun for everyone to enjoy the day. Some favorite picnic foods include sandwiches, chips, fresh fruit and vegetables, light salads, and homemade bars. However, picnics can be expanded to include grilled items, too. Burgers and corn on the cob cook up nicely on a portable grill. During large picnics, guests often bring a dish to share creating a potluck atmosphere.
The fresh air tends to rev up our appetite, so getting in some physical activity while enjoying a picnic is nice, too. Games of horseshoe, Frisbee, catch, or flying a kite add to the fun of the day.

NATIONAL LOST DOG AWARENESS DAY
Each year on April 23rd, National Lost Dog Awareness Day increases awareness concerning missing dogs and celebrates reunions.
Through networks of shelters, veterinaries, social media, and other media sources, many lost canines and families reunite. The day is an opportunity to learn more about prevention and networking. There are also steps to take to prevent your family pet from going missing. Some of these preventative steps also help return Fido to you if he does go missing.
Preventative steps to take:
Keep your dog secure. Whether on a leash or in a fenced yard, your dog is less likely to wander if it is secured.
Training is valuable. Dogs who have been trained by a professional are less likely to go missing. Most importantly, they learn recall commands. Formal obedience training also offers owners valuable information that can lead to a better relationship between pet and owner.
Always supervise your animal. Dogs, especially expensive purebreds, can be stolen even from a fenced yard.Tags and microchipping help with the recovery of a missing animal. These steps must be completed when you first receive your new family member. While tags are inexpensive to protect your pet, dogs can slip a collar. Many pet adoption sites will hold microchipping events for a fraction of the cost. The price is coming down all the time too. It is essential to keep the information on the microchip or tag up to date also. It is only as useful as the information listed on the chip in helping recover your pet.
Spaying and neutering reduce your pet’s likelihood of wandering off in search of a mate. Additionally, it eliminates the chances of unwanted offspring should your dog wander off unexpectedly.Keep records up to date on your animals. That includes photos, vaccinations, and those valuable tags and microchips, too.
Taking action if your pet goes missing:
Contact your local shelters and vets. Please provide them with current information regarding your dog, including a color photograph.
Walk your neighborhood. Let your neighbors know as you search. Enlist their help, too.
Post notices in neighborhood grocery stores, gas stations, and coffee shops. Go to social media and post your pet’s info in local community forums.
Check advertising websites. If your dog was stolen, you might recognize the description from the ad. Contact the police if you think your dog was stolen. -
NATIONAL CHERRY CHEESECAKE DAY
April 23rd recognizes the food holiday National Cherry Cheesecake Day. Cookbooks and bakers offer a large variety of recipes for cherry cheesecake. Some cherry cheesecake recipes call for the cherries to be mixed into the batter and others place the cherries on top.
This smooth dessert hits the spot when the end of the meal rolls around. While most cakes have a crumb, cheesecake’s texture is nothing like cake. Indeed, its creamy, thick pudding-like character comes from the soft cheese used as the main ingredient. Depending on the recipe, either cream cheese or cottage cheese is used. When the cheese is mixed with sugar, eggs, and other ingredients, the batter is added to a crust.
When making cheesecake, one of the most common crusts used is a graham cracker crust. Other options include a cookie crust, pastry or sponge cake. However, some cheesecakes are crustless. Depending on the recipe, cheesecakes may be prepared baked or unbaked.
Cherries on their own offer a bounty of nutrients. For example, the antioxidants in this red fruit protect cells from damage. Because cherries pack an anti-inflammatory punch, they may help reduce the risk of heart disease, too.
HOW TO OBSERVE CHERRY CHEESECAKE DAY
Eat a slice of cherry cheesecake.
Bake your favorite cherry cheesecake recipe.
Get the family involved and share your results, too!

Good morning in sunny Florida. We all miss you posting so whatever is going on we will

Please be well my friend. 😘🎈This too shall pass.

Good morning on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie how are you today? I hope you have
your Van back one and done. 😎How is your husband doing? I hope you can bring him the things he can eat and enjoy
them with you. 🎈Take your time today and when able post if you are not too tired. 😘💕

Our van is going in for some much needed maintenance. The computer light was on when it needed repaired work. Hopefully there will not be any additional challenges when it’s ready which will be sometime this afternoon. Depending on what time I receive a phone call will either go today or tomorrow.
Hubby wants home in the worse way. However, he forgets that he needs to be able to do some things on his own. these include: getting in and out of bed on his own, using the bathroom, etc.. He forgets he is dead weight and that there are some things that I won’t be able to do. We will definitely have help, And I will do everything possible to keep him home. I am finding that the head nurse sometimes talks on both sides of his mouth. Not sure if he really is helping me to get hubby home. I definitely will need a hospital bed or something similar that will raise his head and legs. Also to be able to raise the bed to change linens, etc.. I am thinking of two twins where one will fill his needs. Thankfully, our master is large enough to accommodate the new furniture.
At the moment I am also concerned with hubby’s roommate. Last week he mentioned an excruciating pain in his lower back. I immediately had the thought that it was the big “C.” During the past few months he started coughing. He is a smoker and would join the group several times per day outside. I also noticed that he was losing weight. Yesterday was my first day back following not being well over the weekend. This time a decided change. All skin and bones and now on intravenous. He is a nice person. Always with a smile. Loved to chastise me when I was reading or doing puzzles or using Kindle Fire for my thirst of jigsaws. I will certainly miss this roommate. I just wish there was something I could do or say that will make him smile and alleviate the pain even for a little while. He has had no visitors, yet I do know there are family members and friends around. He has enjoyed my visits with hubby and the word search puzzles in large print that I bring whenever possible. He also was a reader and grabbed loads of books from the Rehab library. Hopefully, he will feel a bit better when I see hubby today and maybe get him to smile. It may be the last time.
-
I pray his room mate will be alright. I feel for lonely people especially at the end.
My father’s birthday is this weekend so my mood is iffy. I do miss him every single
day. A lot is going on in my family I just don’t want to talk about it now when the time
is right I explain. 💕Oodie I hope tonight is a good night with your husband.
-
By the time I was ready to leave, there was no phone call from the dealership which means I will phone them tomorrow morning. I did say hello to hubby’s roommate and I have to say he looked much better. He was moving around more.. I also noticed that he ate some of his dinner. Not sure what to expect, but will do whatever to make him more comfortable. He did ask for additional puzzles. I will keep you posted.
Tomorrow, HD will be on HSN. I am hoping to catch some of the live programming and if not, will watch the videos. She is a delight to watch and her smiles are very contagious. I am trying very hard not to purchase, but, those are always the famous last words. There are a few things that have caught my eyes (all four of them).
It is cool here tonight. A slight breeze will help to keep the temps down to the mid 50s/60s. It’s a pleasant evening with the moon. It is a clear night which I do not see that often. Take care and stay safe. I know how you are feeling.. I feel the same on my parents anniversary. You are not alone.

Hi Oodiebom, help this helps.
https://medmartonline.com/hospital-beds
This is the type of site you should be searching on, a Medical Supply Store. Take care, the best to you and Mr. Bom.
-
Hi Pookie. Thank you again for your help. I did use the website and found a few that may be the ones that I’m looking for. Right now he is afraid of being a burden to me. There will be some things I cannot do, but for the most part it will be a learning experience for both of us. I was doing some research from other websites and you are so right that the medical ones do offer more expertise with their products. However, my intention now is to meet with the head nurse just to be more positive that I am on the right path.

Finding Time for You
We can excel easier in our lives when our own spiritual, physical, and intellectual needs are fulfilled.
Within each of us, there is a well of energy that must be regularly replenished. When we act as if this well is bottomless, scheduling a long list of activities that fit like puzzle pieces into every minute of every day, it becomes depleted and we feel exhausted, disconnected, and weak. Refilling this well is a matter of finding time to focus on, nurture, and care for ourselves, or “you time.” Most of us are, at different times throughout the day, a spouse, a friend, a relative, an employee, a parent, or a volunteer, which means that down time, however relaxing in nature, is not necessarily “you time.” Though some people will inevitably look upon “you time” as being selfish, it is actually the polar opposite of selfishness. We can only excel where our outer world affairs are concerned when our own spiritual, physical, and intellectual needs are fulfilled.
Recognizing the importance of “you time” is far easier than finding a place for it in an active, multifaceted lifestyle, however. Even if you find a spot for it in your agenda, you may be dismayed to discover that your thoughts continuously stray into worldly territory. To make the most of “you time,” give yourself enough time on either side of the block of time you plan to spend on yourself to ensure that you do not feel rushed. Consider how you would like to pass the time, forgetting for the moment your obligations and embracing the notion of renewal. You may discover that you are energized by creative pursuits, guided meditation, relaxing activities during which your mind can wander, or modes of expression such as writing.
Even if you have achieved a functioning work-life balance, you may still be neglecting the most important part of that equation: you. “You time” prepares you for the next round of daily life, whether you are poised to immerse yourself in a professional project or chores around the home. It also affords you a unique opportunity to learn about yourself, your needs, and your tolerances in a concrete way. As unimportant as “you time” can sometimes seem, it truly is crucial to your well-being because it ensures that you are never left without the energy to give of yourself. AMEN! 😎

NATIONAL JELLY BEAN DAY
Who can resist a handful of sweet jelly beans on National Jelly Bean Day? Well on April 22nd each year, you really don’t have to resist at all. As a celebration, enjoying them is a must!
While candies made in a similar manner existed before the jelly bean, Boston confectioner William Schrafft made them popular during the Civil War. With their firm exterior, jelly beans were the first candies sold by the pound. Schrafft encouraged his customers to send them to Union soldiers.
In the 1930s, jelly beans became closely associated with the Easter holiday thanks to their egg-like shape. However, confectioners make jelly beans available all year long now. So, there’s no excuse not to enjoy them if you have a craving at any time of the year.
The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, enjoyed jelly beans so much that they were present at his inauguration. He started eating them when he quit smoking years before. The Herman Goelitz Candy Company supplied red, white and blue jelly beans for the 1980 event. At the time, the company didn’t produce blue jelly beans. They created a blueberry jelly bean for the first time, especially for the inauguration.

PASSOVER BEGINS
Every year, the spring festival called Passover is celebrated for 8 days. Traditionally known as a major Jewish holiday, many Christians have also begun to take part in celebrating Passover. The date of the festival is in accordance with the first full moon in the Hebrew calendar month, Nissan. For this reason, the date changes every year.
The Hebrew word for Passover is Pesach. The holiday is also called the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The roots of this Jewish holiday can be found in the Old Testament of the Bible. The main purpose of the holiday is to commemorate the Biblical story of Exodus. This is when God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
The book of Exodus recounts the historical event. A leader named Pharaoh wanted to control the number of Jews living in Egypt. To do this, he ordered the killing of all male Jewish babies. The mother of Moses put him in a basket on the Nile River. Pharaoh’s daughter found and adopted Moses. When he grew up, Moses fled to the desert where God told him to go back to Egypt and lead the Israelites out of slavery.
When Moses asked Pharaoh to let his people go, Pharaoh told him no. Each time, God sent a plague on Egypt. Finally, the Lord commanded the death of all the firstborn in Egypt, including Pharaoh’s household, but excluding the Jewish people who had the blood of the lamb on their doors.
The Lord told Moses, however, that he would pass over any home that had the blood of a lamb on their doorposts. It was after this final plague that Pharaoh finally let the Israelites go. Because they had to leave in a hurry, there wasn’t enough time for their bread dough to rise. This is why Passover is also referred to as the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Earth Song
Song by Michael JacksonWhat about sunrise?
What about rain?
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain?
What about killing fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine?
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we’ve shed before?
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, these weeping shores?
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
What have we done to the world?
Look what we’ve done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son?
What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine?
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war?
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, these weeping shores?
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don’t know where we are
Although I know we’ve drifted far
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Hey, what about yesterday?
(What about us?)
What about the seas?
(What about us?)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us?)
I can’t even breathe
(What about us?)
What about apathy?
(What about us?)
I need you
(What about us?)
What about nature’s worth?
(Ooh)
It’s our planet’s womb
(What about us?)
What about animals?
(What about it?)
We’ve turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us?)
What about elephants?
(What about us?)
Have we lost their trust
(What about us?)
What about crying whales?
(What about us?)
We’re ravaging the seas
(What about us?)
What about forest trails?
(Ooh)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us?)
What about the holy land?
(What about it?)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us?)
What about the common man?
(What about us?)
Can’t we set him free
(What about us?)
What about children dying?
(What about us?)
Can’t you hear them cry?
(What about us?)
Where did we go wrong?
(Ooh)
Someone tell me why
(What about us?)
What about baby boy?
(What about it?)
What about the days?
(What about us?)
What about all their joy?
(What about us?)
What about the man?
(What about us?)
What about the crying man?
(What about us?)
What about Abraham?
(What about us?)
What about death again?
(Ooh)
Do we give a ?

A Secret Garden: Your Gut Microbiome
Like a flourishing garden teeming with diverse plant life, the gut microbiome is a complex landscape that plays a major role in your health and vitality.
To have a thriving garden, the gardener must tend to it with loving care and attention. Similarly, we must nurture and cultivate the ecosystem within our own bodies — the gut microbiome. Like a flourishing garden teeming with diverse plant life, the gut microbiome is a complex landscape of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms that play a major role in our health and vitality — from digesting food, absorbing nutrients, and supporting immune function to maintaining mental clarity and emotional balance.
As a seasoned gardener must nourish the garden’s soil and keep a watchful eye on the garden’s habitat to support healthy plant growth, we too must provide our gut microbiome with the essential nutrients, attention, and care it needs to maintain harmony, resilience, and balance. Otherwise, just like a garden can be compromised with disease from insects or weeds, our gut health can become vulnerable to chronic inflammation, leaky gut symptoms, poor immune system, hormonal imbalances, allergies, mood disorders, and other problems.
To create a rich and robust ecosystem in your gut, eat a varied diet rich in fiber, prebiotics, and probiotics. Foods, such as nutrient-dense vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, and fermented foods, and ample hydration give us the fortifying energy for the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, creating a microbiome that blooms with vibrancy. Mindful eating habits and diversifying your diet through natural foods can bring transformative change to your entire being. A happy gut means a happier life! 😎

NATIONAL KINDERGARTEN DAY
Each year on April 21st, National Kindergarten Day honors the birthday of the man who started the first Kindergarten. Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (April 21, 1782 – June 21, 1852) is credited with starting the very first Kindergarten in Germany in 1837. Frobel was a German teacher and a student of Johann Pestalozzi. Frobel laid a foundation for modern education, recognizing that children learn through play and experience.
The first kindergarten (which means garden for the children) was developed in Blankenburg, Germany, in 1837. The kindergarten fostered Frobel’s social experience for children. It also allowed them to smoothly transition from home to school.
Eventually, the Prussian government banned Frobel’s unorthodox methods. However, the rest of the world was eager to accept Frobel’s idea of kindergarten, including the United States.
In 1856, Watertown, Wisconsin, opened the first kindergarten in the United States. Founded by Margarethe Schurz, this kindergarten was a German-language class, as were many in this region. Kindergarten found its way into private English-speaking institutions across the country. However, it wasn’t until 1873 that it became part of any public school system.
National Kindergarten Day offers an opportunity to thank a kindergarten teacher you know. There are several ways to celebrate the day, too!

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE-COVERED CASHEWS DAY
National Chocolate-Covered Cashews Day is observed each year on April 21st. Not unlike other nuts, cashews and chocolate get along well together. Of course, chocolate lovers savor the combination of nutty crunch and creamy, rich chocolate.
The cashew is a tree from the family Anacardiaceae. Its English name comes from Portuguese for the fruit of the cashew tree “caju.” Originally native to Northeastern Brazil, cashew trees are now widely grown in tropical climates for their cashew fruit and nuts.
With leaves arranged spirally and a leathery texture, the evergreen cashew tree grows up to 32 feet tall. It also often grows with an irregularly shaped trunk. The buds produce small flowers that start pale green and turn reddish, each having five slender, acute petals.
Surprisingly, the cashew nutshell is toxic, so producers shell the cashew before selling it to consumers. While many people enjoy the cashew nut for its delicious buttery flavor on its own, adding chocolate makes it even more enjoyable. It makes a great gift during the winter holidays. However, people enjoy chocolate-covered cashews all year long.

NATIONAL YELLOW BAT DAY
April 21st honors National Yellow Bat Day. On this day in 1967, the Army activated the 265th Army Security Agency Company (Airborne) with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
The official insignia of the 265th is a bat with outstretched wings on a full moon rising with the motto Through the Night below. Symbolically, the bat represents mystery and secrecy due to its nocturnal nature. The bat fittingly describes the intelligence support provided by the Army Security Agency Battalion.
Before deploying, the personnel painted all the military vehicles and equipment with a yellow bat. The symbol made the equipment clearly visible from a distance and aided in identifying all unit equipment.
On November 19th of the same year, they deployed to Vietnam with the designation 265th Radio Research Company (Airborne) to provide intelligence support to the 101st Airborne Division. Arriving a few weeks ahead of the Viet Cong Tet Offensive, they soon learned of the North Vietnamese campaign. However, few commanders would believe the intelligence.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I hope you enjoy your day just doing what
you wanted to do. 😎🎈How are things going today? I’ve been a busy little bee out in the yards helping husband
and doing laundry in the house and then some. Never a dull day here in OZ.The sun is out and we are a perfect 56 degrees today and I am loving every minute of it. 😎🎈
I could live like this maybe six months out of a year. Poppy loves it too. 😘
Enjoy your visit with your husband.

I was home yesterday and today and did not see hubby. After shopping yesterday, I ventured into the den to look at the lake. In so doing I noticed one of our roof areas was hanging by a nail. Rather than contact the roofers who initially repaired our roof, decided on someone new to us. This business comes well recommended and has over 30 years experience. I tried to reach this group when we lost our lanai and an area in our den became a skylight. This group had a waiting period and I chose to find someone else. Long story short, they had an email and I sent a note stating our problem. I hope to hear something by tomorrow. Guess the story when it rains it pours. The new homes being built in Florida today will be able to withstand hurricane strength winds up to 200 mph. Of course, nothing really can withstand the winds of a tornado., unless, maybe, concrete.
Hopefully, I will be able to be with hubby most of the afternoon tomorrow. I have some real good food items for him and they are all low in calories. I have a parfait of fruit mixed in with yogurt, fresh fruit bowl which is soft. I also picked up cheesecake which I will cut into a sliver and then add ice cream on top. He has also asked for my winter melon soup. I thought I would make some tomorrow, but, alas, I forgot to purchase the winter melon. That I will do on Tuesday before getting the van. There is something actually called winter melon. It is in the squash family and has no real taste.. You can purchase this in any Asian market. I found that honeydew works better and actually adds a sweet taste to the soup. Also, our Asian markets are able to cut the pork ribs into bite size pieces. Unfortunately, I will need to do that part myself. I remembered the carrots, bok choy, and dragon fruit. By the way, I use the whole stalks of t he bok choy. That includes the leafy part. Nothing goes to waste. I usually cut two or three stalks of the bok choy into bite size pieces and I do the same for the lettuce part of the stalk. When I was a youngster (that was yesterday) I asked the owner of an Asian restaurant what the green part was in the wonton soups. I thought it was a spinach leaf, but when he mentioned what it was, I’ve been using it ever since. The one thing Asians do is use the whole veggie and that includes the tops and the roots. And for people who do not use pork, chicken, fish, or beef can be substituted. I use a chicken broth as a base. Hubby also asked for homemade spaghetti with meatballs. I will be trying to get him out and about this week. If it succeeds, I will be doing this a few times during the week. Someday he will get a surprise when i bring him home permanently. First, though, he needs to take off a few pounds so that the therapy can resume again. I am also thinking that the YMCA may be able to help as well and I will be contacting them about therapy in their pool. I think they may be equipped to take a person from wheelchair to pool using a sling. I just have a feeling that this may help with his mobility.
The weather here has been in the low to mid 80s during the day and in the 60s at night. We are expecting some thunderstorms tomorrow and as yet have no idea if any will be serious. I know there will be wind which means sinuses will be at the forefront. My headache was awful today and that is the result of a low forming. Also the main reason for not venturing out. Hope you had a beautiful Sunday. I would take a look at the weather for the next ten days before planting. Have a great walk with the moon and Poppy. Stay safe.
-

Ella Eyre Lyrics
“We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off”
(originally by Jermaine Stewart)Not a word from your lips
You just took for granted that I want to skinny dip
A quick hit, that’s your game
But I’m not a piece of meat, simulate my brain, noThe night is young, so are we
Let’s just get to know each other slow and easily, oh, oh
Take my hand, let’s hit the floor
Shake our bodies to the music
Maybe then you’ll score, oh, ohSo come on baby, won’t you show some class
Why’d you have to move so fast?We don’t have to take our clothes off
To have a good time, oh, no
We could dance and party all night
And drink some cherry wine, oh, ohJust slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool and romantically, oh, oh
I’ve got needs just like you
And if the conversation’s good
Vibrations through and through, oh, ohSo come on baby, won’t you show some class
Why’d you have to move so fast?We don’t have to take our clothes off
To have a good time, no, oh
We could dance and party all night
And drink some cherry wine, oh, ohWe don’t have to take our clothes off
To have a good time, oh, oh
We could dance and party all night
And drink some cherry wine, oh, oh -
The Tide Is High
Song by BlondieThe tide is high but I’m holdin’ on
I’m gonna be your number one
I’m not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
It’s not the things you do that tease and hurt me bad
But it’s the way you do the things you do to me
I’m not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
The tide is high but I’m holdin’ on
I’m gonna be your number one, number one
Ev’ry girl wants you to be her man
But I’ll wait my dear till it’s my turn
I’m not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
The tide is high but I’m holdin’ on
I’m gonna be your number one, number one, number one
Ev’ry girl wants you to be her man
But I’ll wait my dear till it’s my turn
I’m not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
The tide is high but I’m holding on
I’m gonna be your number one, number one, number one
The tide is high but I’m holding on
I’m gonna be your number one
The tide is high but I’m holding on
I’m gonna be your number one
The tide is high but I’m holding on
I’m gonna be your number one
The tide is high but I’m holding on
I’m gonna be your number one -
Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)
Song by Billy OceanShe’s simply awesome
Ooh
She dashed by me in painted on jeans
And all heads turned ’cause she was the cream
In the blink of an eye I knew her number and her name, yeah
She said I was the tiger she wanted to tame
Caribbean queen
Now we’re sharing the same dream
And our hearts they beat as one
No more love on the run
I lose my cool when she steps in the room, mmm
And I get so excited just from her perfume, mmm
Electric eyes that you can’t ignore
And passion burns you like never before, mmm, mmm, mmm
I was in search of a good time
Just running my game, yeah
Love was the furthest
Furthest from my mind, yeah
Caribbean queen (can you give me love?)
Now we’re sharing the same dream (don’t wanna stop)
And our hearts they beat as one (ooh)
No more love on the run
I love ya, I need ya
Caribbean queen (can you give me love?)
Now we’re sharing the same dream (don’t wanna stop)
And our hearts they beat as one (ooh, yeah)
No more love on the run
Ah, mmm, mmm, mmm, yeah
Caribbean queen (can you give me love?)
Now we’re sharing the same dream (ooh, don’t stop)
And our hearts they beat as one (oh, lady, my baby)
No more love on the run
(Mmm, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Caribbean queen (can you give me love?)
Now we’re sharing the same dream (ooh, don’t stop)
And our hearts they beat as one (oh, lady, my baby)
No more love on the run
(Mmm, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, hey
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, yeah, ohh
She’s the cream
My Caribbean queen, yeah, yeah
I said, she dashed by me in painted jeans

420 DAY
Every year on April 20th, cannabis producers, consumers, advocates, and those who are just curious have long celebrated 420 Day. Once an unconventional day, the day has become the rallying cry of those who seek to legalize marijuana for medicinal and recreational uses.
While federal law in the United States still classifies cannabis as illegal, many states have legalized the substance for medicinal, recreational use, or both. Since the 1970s, some state legislatures have been going through various stages of decriminalizing cannabis possession and use. Alternatively, other states have strengthened their stance on the topic. California led the way in 1996 by making medical cannabis legal. Washington and Colorado legalized cannabis for recreational use in 2012. Other states have followed suit in varying degrees.
A 2018 Gallup Poll showed that 66% of Americans support legalizing marijuana. According to Gallup, they first asked the question back in 1969, and only 12% supported making the plant (or weed) legal. Today, proponents point to several reasons for making cannabis legal.
Cannabis will become the largest cash crop in the United States.
Legalizing it allows regulation.
Allows law enforcement to focus on violent crimes and eases pressure on public resources.
Cannabis is safer than alcohol. -
NATIONAL RECORD STORE DAY
On National Record Store Day, owners, employees, and music lovers gather in the place that created a culture of its own.
From vinyl to digital and back to vinyl again, the brick and mortar store celebrates a love of not just the music, but the art of jacket covers, words, and style. Through a variety of events, record stores across the country and the world hold one day events and promotions.
Even though independent record stores have dwindled in the last decade, around 1,400 still remain in operation in the United States. Most of those are operating in major metropolitan areas like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Seattle. However, other smaller metro areas also cater to vinyl and disc, too. Think Duluth, Fargo, Des Moines, and Terre Haute. They all have record stores full of classic albums waiting for you to discover your favorite cover.

NATIONAL PINEAPPLE UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE DAY
National Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day on April 20th celebrates a sweet cake that contains pineapples and cherries. Americans have been enjoying this springtime cake since the early 1900s when many cakes were made in cast iron skillets.

Good afternoon I am pretty sure your hands are full. I do hope you have your Van.
How are you feeling today?Enjoy the Markets today if needed and I hope your husband is doing fine. 🎈😎
Oz is a bit chilly but sunny. 🎈😎
-
As I type, I am thinking of your husband as I munch on hot hot hot salsa which is sooooo delicious. My whatever I have has gone bye bye. It’s pineapple, mango, tomatoes, celery and all kins of hot peppers in a tasty, hot crunch. No, I didn’t see hubby today. Instead did laundry and then took me, myself and I to the Farmer’s Market. I will try to see hubby tomorrow late morning/early afternoon and then stay till sometime after the dinner hour. I still have a few more bags to unpack and then I’m done. Even bought a couple of things for hubby. But that salsa is really tasty. Opened up all my sinuses.
Saw hubby yesterday. He is very disappointed that the PT has stopped. They said he plateaued. That’s not exactly true. The main reason is that he gained a lot of weight and they do not want him to stand on either leg until some of that peels off. When he wasn’t eating and losing all that weight, I started supplementing on a daily visit. Hubby is 5’9: and his lowest on the scale was under 130lbs. The nurses, the kitchen staff and aids were concerned. He, at that point, hated the food. Loved the desserts along with iced tea, lemonade, etc.. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I noticed his face looked like “Santa.” No, I’m not kidding. I thought he was retaining water and contacted the head nurse and after a week of tests, found out that wasn’t the case. So now he is being watched very carefully and yesterday I noticed that his face looked a bit thinner. The food I’m bringing now is homemade Yogurt with fruit from the Farmer’s Market, watermelon, dragon fruit, bananas, blueberries, etc.. He longs for apples, but I cannot bring those to him because he takes too big of a bite and then starts coughing up a storm. Until he learns his new way of eating, fquite a few things are off limits. Apples is just one of them. I realized when I arrived home, that I forgot a few things, so will return either Monday or Tuesday.
No, I do not have the van as yet. The dealership finally remembered my bitching about the computer in the van going off saying it needed maintenance. So, that is now scheduled for Tuesday and they will contact me when the car is ready and will send Uber So, I will either have the van Tuesday afternoon or sometime Wednesday.
Oops, forgot to put the laundry into the dryer. Have a great evening you three. I hate to write this, but it is in the 70s here and the A/C is on. I will be shutting it off very soon. Sure could use some of those raindrops……..

Don’t You (Forget About Me)
Song by Simple MindsHey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Won’t you come see about me?
I’ll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving everything inside and out and
Love’s strange, so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Don’t you try and pretend
It’s my feeling we’ll win in the end
I won’t harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security, ah
Don’t you forget about me
I’ll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Going to take you apart
I’ll put us back together at heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say
La, la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
When you walk on by
And you call my name
When you walk on by -
The Tears Of A Clown
Song by Smokey Robinson and The MiraclesOh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Now if there’s a smile on my face
It’s only there trying to fool the public
But when it comes down to fooling you
Now honey that’s quite a different subject
But don’t let my glad expression
Give you the wrong impression
Really I’m sad, oh, I’m sadder than sad
You’re gone and I’m hurting so bad
Like a clown I appear to be glad (sad, sad, sad, sad)
Now, there’s some sad things known to man
But ain’t too much sadder than
The tears of a clown when there’s no one around, mm
Oh, yeah, baby
Now if I appear to be carefree
It’s only to camouflage my sadness
In order to shield my pride, I try
To cover this hurt with a show of gladness
But don’t let my show convince you
That I’ve been happy since you
Decided to go (why did you go?)
Oh, I need you so (I need you so)
I’m hurt and I want you to know (want you to know)
But for others, I put on a show, ooh, oh (it’s just a show)
There’s some sad things known to man
But ain’t too much sadder than
The tears of a clown, when there’s no one around, oh, yeah
Just like Pagliacci did
I try to keep my surface hid
Smiling in the public, I
But in my lonely room, I cry
The tears of a clown
When there’s no one around, oh, yeah, baby
Now if there’s a smile on my face
Don’t let my glad expression
Give you the wrong impression
Don’t let this smile I wear
Make you think that I don’t care
When really, I’m sad
Hurtin’ so bad -

“I Write The Songs”I’ve been alive forever
And I wrote the very first song
I put the words and the melodies together
I am music
And I write the songsI write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songsMy home lies deep within you
And I’ve got my own place in your soul
Now when I look out through your eyes
I’m young again, even tho’ I’m very oldI write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songsOh, my music makes you dance and gives you spirit to take a chance
And I wrote some rock ‘n roll so you can move
Music fills your heart, well that’s a real fine place to start
It’s from me, it’s for you
It’s from you, it’s for me
It’s a worldwide symphonyI write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songsI write the songs that make the whole world sing
I write the songs of love and special things
I write the songs that make the young girls cry
I write the songs, I write the songsI am music and I write the songs

Billy Joel
“Allentown”Well we’re living here in Allentown
And they’re closing all the factories down
Out in Bethlehem they’re killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line
Well our fathers fought the Second World War
Spent their weekends on the Jersey Shore
Met our mothers in the USO
Asked them to dance
Danced with them slow
And we’re living here in AllentownBut the restlessness was handed down
And it’s getting very hard to stayWell we’re waiting here in Allentown
For the Pennsylvania we never found
For the promises our teachers gave
If we worked hard
If we behaved
So the graduations hang on the wall
But they never really helped us at all
No they never taught us what was real
Iron and coke
And chromium steel
And we’re waiting here in AllentownBut they’ve taken all the coal from the ground
And the union people crawled awayEvery child had a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got
But something happened on the way to that place
They threw an American flag in our faceWell I’m living here in Allentown
And it’s hard to keep a good man down
But I won’t be getting up todayAnd it’s getting very hard to stay
And we’re living here in Allentown

On April 19th, National Amaretto Day recognizes a liqueur known around the world for its flavor and aroma!
In Italian, the word Amaretto means “a little bitter,” because it is made from bitter almonds or apricot kernels, or both. Makers infuse it in pure alcohol or brandy, resulting in a strong almond flavor. This traditionally Italian liqueur carries a reputation for being fragrant.
Shrouded in Secrecy and Lore
Taking us back to the 1525 Renaissance in Saronno, Italy, painter Bernardino Luini selected a young innkeeper as his model for a fresco of the Madonna of the Miracles. In gratitude for being selected, the innkeeper gave the artist a gift of her own secret blend of almond and brandy. For centuries, the family held the recipe as a closely guarded secret. However, the Di Saronno family began producing its amaretto for a broader market in the 20th century. The liqueur began appearing for sale in advertisements in the United States in the late 1940s, and the family still bottles their recipe today.
Another Amaretto tale comes from the same area of Italy. However, this story tells of a young Lazzaroni couple blessed by the Cardinal of Milan in 1718. The couple honored his visit with a unique recipe of their own, producing an amaretto cookie like no other. And this one came also came in a bottle. Of course, they also closely guarded their recipe generations. In 1851, the Lazzaroni family began selling their amaretto liqueur, and the family is still producing it today.

NATIONAL NORTH DAKOTA DAY
On April 19th, National North Dakota Day recognizes the Peace Garden State.Long before Lewis and Clark traveled up the Missouri River, the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara arrived in North Dakota. During the Corps of Discovery, the team camped at Fort Mandan along the Missouri River for the winter. Here, their translators, Sacagawea and Charbonneau, joined the expedition. Sacagawea would also give birth to her son, Jean Baptiste.
As the settlement expanded, disputes over land increased. Fort Abraham Lincoln preserves the home of Gen. George and Libby Custer, the military commissary, blockhouses, and the Mandan Indian Village along the Missouri River.
Theodore Roosevelt arrived in North Dakota in 1883 and fell in love with badlands and outdoor life. He would later be elected the 26th U.S. President and served from 1901 to 1909. His love of the badlands led to his conservation and preservation efforts. The North Dakota Badlands are named Theodore Roosevelt National Park in his name.
-
NATIONAL HANGING OUT DAY
Each year on April 19th, Project Laundry List works with hundreds of other organizations to sponsor National Hanging Out Day. This day encourages communities to learn about the benefits, both financially and environmentally, of using a clothesline for drying laundry. According to Project Laundry Lists’ website, clothes dryers account for an astonishing six to ten percent of residential energy consumption.
-
NATIONAL GARLIC DAY
Each year on April 19th, National Garlic Day celebrates a vegetable also known as the stinking rose. The fragrant and potent root has been seasoning dishes for thousands of years.
This stinking rose is a member of the lily family. This family also includes the flavorful onions, leeks, and shallots we use in some of our favorite dishes. Garlic originated in Asia over 7,000 years ago, so it’s no surprise that cuisines worldwide incorporate it into favored recipes.
Garlic is quite versatile as illustrated by its many medicinal purposes. The mighty bulb is considered an herbal remedy for colds and may reduce blood pressure and cholesterol. Modern science has also proven garlic’s antibiotic properties.
Myth and superstition reek of garlic. The most familiar one suggests that garlic wards off vampires. This same theory seemed to work on witches, werewolves, demons and other such evils one might cross. Folklore also tells us garlic grew from satan’s left footprint when he left the Garden of Eden. Greek midwives used garlic to keep evil spirits away, and courage filled Roman soldiers who consumed the bulb.
Consider our dreams and garlic too. Our dreams often have meaning and dreaming of garlic is no different. To dream about garlic in the house suggests good luck and if the dream includes eating garlic (perhaps in a pesto sauce), there might be hidden secrets. Over 300 varieties of garlic grow around the world to dream about as well!

Another dreary day in the ‘burgh but we will have your weather tomorrow and Sunday, sunny and in the 50’s.🌞
Spent part of the day at mom’s and the other part running around for house stuff. Just finished dinner and will relax this evening.🍷 Hockey playoffs start tomorrow, haven’t yet picked a team to root for since it’s early and 16 teams playing.🏒 But I will have favorites.
Glad you are feeling a little better each day.🥰 You are a real trooper!👍 Sending loving hugs back to you and Poppy.🤗💖

The Whole Is Greater
Women’s circles perfectly illustrate the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Women’s circles are formal or informal gatherings in the interest of bonding, sharing energy, and creating ritual. The origins of women’s circles are ancient, but their applications are as modern as the women who participate in them. There are no hard and fast rules as to how to form a women’s circle or how to run one. Some circles invent their own agendas, rituals, goals, and ceremonies, while others borrow ideas from sources as far-ranging as Buddhist or indigenous cultures. Some circles are open to new members at all times, while others prefer to practice with a set number of members, closing the circle once that number is reached.
In a typical gathering, the women who are present sit in a circle. Generally, for the sake of cohesiveness, one woman is chosen to lead the circle each time. Allowing a different woman to lead each meeting allows for a multi-perspective approach to the process. One circle leader may choose to create and teach a ritual that involves using the voice to release negative energy, while at the next meeting, another leader may feel inspired to lead a silent meditation. On the other hand, a circle may choose to be more focused and gather around a particular intention, such as working together to determine a course for healing Mother Earth. When the healing feels complete, the women may choose to stay together with a new focus or the circle may disband.
At their best, women’s circles perfectly illustrate the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The work that can be accomplished within the loving embrace of our sisters is far more powerful than what we could achieve on our own. If you are not already part of a circle, you may want to start one. Follow your intuition as to the women with whom you’d like to work, reach out to them, and set a date to begin. After that, you can simply allow the circle to create itself.
