Conversation 24
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 24 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

On April 14, Look Up at the Sky Day encourages us to admire the beauty above us. On this day we all hope for good weather and an opportunity to fill our eyes with the sky from horizon to horizon.
-
National Reach as High as You Can Day on April 14th encourages us to evaluate our goals and do our best to reach them.

NATIONAL GARDENING DAY
National Gardening Day on April 14th encourages gardeners and would-be gardeners to pick up a shovel, plant some seeds, and kick off a beautiful year of homegrown bounty.
Whether you want to grow vegetables, fruit, flowers, houseplants, or anything in between, National Gardening Day celebrates a satisfying pastime that you will enjoy for decades.
Growing your own food also provides fresh and natural nourishment for your family and saves you time and money at the grocery store.
As many gardeners know, the benefits of gardening come from more than the produce. Spending time in the garden also provides physical activity and an opportunity to join with nature.
The day is a call to action to get out and grow flower or vegetable gardens. No matter how you garden, plant in the ground, in containers, in straw bales or in a square foot gardening box. Just garden!

NATIONAL DOLPHIN DAY
Each year on April 14th, National Dolphin Day recognizes the social and intelligent mammals of the water.
Dolphins are cetacean mammals that are related to whales and porpoises. They range in size from 4 feet to up to 30 feet; dolphins are among almost forty species in 17 genera. Found worldwide, they prefer the shallower seas of the continental shelves.
As carnivores, their diet consists of mostly fish and squid.
Male dolphin – bull
Female dolphin – cow
Young dolphin – calf
Group of dolphins – school or pod
Social, Swift, and Intelligent
Dolphins are known to have acute eyesight both in and out of the water. They also have a well-developed sense of touch, with free nerve endings densely packed in the skin. Since they additionally have such acute hearing, they can hear frequencies ten times or more above the upper limit of what adult humans can. Dolphins are also capable of making a broad range of sounds using nasal air sacs located just below the blowhole.Living in pods of up to a dozen dolphins, they are highly social animals. Pods do merge in areas where there is an abundance of food, forming superpods. These pods may exceed 1,000 dolphins. Dolphins can, and do, establish strong bonds within their pods. Even when one is injured or ill, they will stay, helping them to breathe by bringing them to the surface if needed.
You will see the dolphins frequently leaping above the water’s surface. They do this for various reasons; when traveling, jumping saves them energy as there is less friction while in the air. Their leaps even have a name called porpoising. Some other explanations for leaping include orientation, social display, fighting, non-verbal communication, entertainment, and attempting to dislodge parasites.
The United States National Marine Mammal Foundation conducted a study revealing that dolphins, like humans, develop a natural form of type 2 diabetes. This discovery may lead to a better understanding of the disease and new treatments for both humans and dolphins.

Not to worry. Just a little dent in the road. The first thing I really need to do is to get hubby out of the Rehab for a few hours. Just the two of us. The Head Nurse mentioned that I should use my vehicle instead of the van since it is lower and will be easier to get him in and out. I would love nothing better than to take him to Costco or for that matter our new Farmer’s Market. Costco is only 4 or 5 miles West of the Rehab. The other is more like 10 East. Either one is doable. Right now I am not sure if I have a cold or sinus infection. Hubby was coughing his head off Wednesday and Thursday and the nurses and aids said it was my fault. However, yesterday I awoke with an awful headache and sore throat with a good case of laryngitis. That is when I realized it was not my fault. It took q few hours for my voice to return somewhat and I immediately made a call to the Unit Manager. I explained the situation and said I had the same symptoms as hubby. I haven’t heard a thing since, except he was supposed to check on him. The one thing I don’t want is for him to get pneumonia again. Yes, we both have the shot for that one. I will keep all of you posted. Not sure yet about visiting tomorrow. Will see how I feel and how the coughing is before leaving. But when I get there, the aids and nurses will get an ear full. That is for certain. I made the salmon salad a different way this time. The salmon was in a can and I was too lazy to mix in the spices. I used chopped onion, a couple of teaspoons of relish and instead of mayo, used Caesar salad dressing and added about 3 teaspoons of sugar free marmalade. I have to admit it was delicious and I made a sandwich and brought it with me so I could eat with hubby. Hubby had finished his dinner and wanted a taste. I had spooned in about a quarter of a cup into a plastic container. I knew he would want to try it. There was no celery or bok choy. It was easy to swallow. And he started coughing anyway. I also brought applesauce which he didn’t want. I had run out of lettuce, so it was just a plain salad. He loved the flavor and I said I would make it again. While I was there, I also started coughing that same evening and didn’t feel well. Normally, I would have left, but I didn’t think I could drive, so I stayed an extra hour. I arrived home after 10:30pm. Made all 8 traffic lights (guess it knew I wasn’t feeling that great) and was home within 15 minutes. The pollen in Florida is horrendous. I have had headaches and migraines for the past two or three weeks. The sinus meds have helped.
Again, thank you for thinking of me. I know you are all behind me 110% and that helps a lot. I will definitely take care of business. I just hope hubby is OK. Monday I will be picking the van up. Just do not like Uber. But at least the dealership will be paying for it.
Goodnight. Say hi to your sister and mom for us. Glad your sister is back. Hope everything is OK with both of them. Stay well you two. Health is so important these days.
