NATIONAL PISTACHIO DAY

February 26th recognizes all things pistachio and National Pistachio Day is the day to celebrate! Pistachio lovers rejoice as they eat their favorite nut all day long. For those who do not eat pistachios, buy some and give them to someone who does. Crack them open and eat them up or enjoy them in ice cream or your favorite pistachio dessert!

Pistachios arrived in the United States sometime in the 1880s, but they have been cultivated in the Middle East since Biblical times.

The pistachio tree grows to about 20 feet tall needing little or no rain and must have high heat. Amazingly, in Iran, they claim to have 700-year-old pistachio trees! A new tree takes between 7 and 10 years to mature and bear fruit.

NATIONAL LETTER TO AN ELDER DAY

Every year on February 26th, National Letter to an Elder Day encourages putting pen to paper and writing to an elder you know. The day serves to remind that loved ones enjoy hearing from us and that a simple letter brightens their day.

I hope you are healing well from your fall. My little oopsie on my fall on Ice was not good.
I have never fallen outside I went on my merry way with Poppy and all of a sudden I was
looking at Poppy next thing I was on the ground. I am thankful no bones were broken
only a good egg bump I was lucky I had a thick winter hat on and my hair was in a ponytail. 😎

The weather is so strange lately. We are in the 60’s today but in a day or two we will be right
back in the 20’s. Sheesh!

Good Afternoon. My day is just starting even though I had garbage duty earlier and also picked up the mail which is at least a mile from our home. Now getting ready to fill the tank at Costco. Hubby is on a more or less pureed diet and thus no hot dog today. I was yelled at by a nurse on Sunday for ordering a grinder for hubby. Funny, they yell at the food I bring, but Physical Therapy, not going forward???? Anyway, hubby enjoyed the grinder and yesterday I brought him frozen custard from Culvers. I decided to try the mint special of the day and so glad I did. Hubby said it was the best he ever tasted. Speaking of ice cream, HSN has a duo of a freezer and frig for the car or van or a truck. We currently have a Coleman Frig which we have used for the last ten or more years. Comes in handy when visiting our favorite market. However, to keep something like ice cream from melting, we put it on the bottom with other frozen items. No need for ice either. But a duo is something I have been considering for a while. It is also good to have on our trips North and the return. I love that it has a handle. I’ve been putting our frig on our DBest Trolley.

Hope you all have a great day enjoying the “heat wave.” We are in the mid 70s today and next week we will see the 80s. Night temps will be in the 50s. Great spring like temps that are horrible for the sinuses. Oh well, win some, lose some.

Wish your son a Happy Birthday from the two of us. The years go by too fast. At the same time I hope he has a safe return.

Good evening I have read your post and I don’t like anyone yelling at you. The nurse
could have said hey this is not for your husband right now but yelling I am so glad I was
not there. I have zero tolerance for disrespect. There are ways to say something without
yelling.

I have a slight headache from going in and out feeding the critters. Thank you for the
birthday shout out for our son. We will miss him when he leaves the girlfriend can’t wait
for him to get back. We taught all our kids to grow wings and fly. My mother taught me
that at a young age. I must say it has served me well and I have lived a very interesting life. 😎😘

Anyway Oodie take it easy and rest if you can. I hope it is clear she will not yell at you.
if this nurse knew how much you do and you manage three different homes in different
cities that is a lot. Plus you want your husband to come home. I will be praying this happens
once his PT is taken care of. 😎

Our son had a wonderful Birthday Weekend. 😘🎈💕😎The girls have came home
for certain periods of time they all come home. I wanted to see my mother and family
during the winter in Colorado and our son was able to work it out to stay in our home
while away. Poppy is loving it and the cats were well taken care of. 💕🎈

Sometimes things just turn out alright.

My neighbor the female professor is planning her trip back to Greece. 💕😎 We are having
lunch this week and I will have all the deets. 💕Taci that is one woman who is not going to
let that awful fall she had in Greece get her down.

Read that certain touristy spots have a limit the number of people who can go there in a day. Greece isn’t currently on the list but you never know.
I haven’t bought the amber piece yet. It is a nice piece on HSN but I am trying to talk myself out of it.
Yes, the critters camouflage well. The little rabbits and squirrels run across the paths right as we walk by. I never understand it, but it’s cute to watch.

Transforming Anger to Light

When we have anger that is lingering, we can give it to the earth to transmute and give a new purpose.

As humans, we all have anger, sometimes more than others. A healthy way of purging our anger from our bodies is to give it to Mother Earth. We can imagine ourselves being grounded as the electrical energy passes from us into Mother Earth below. We can see that energy go straight to the earth’s core where it becomes part of the continuous growth process of our planet and is transformed from negative to positive, from dark to light. When we choose to give our anger to the earth, we trust our connection with the natural world we live in and the great universe that fuels it all. Mother Earth will lovingly transform your anger into light so no need to feel guilty about unloading to her.

We can make this offering of our energy from any location, whether many stories up or on a ship at sea. We know the earth is below us, supporting us and sustaining us. If we have the opportunity to physically connect to the earth by going outdoors and touching unpaved ground, we may find it easier to connect to nature’s energy flow. It may also be easier to receive the flow of positive, calming, healing energy that comes to fill our bodies when we have emptied ourselves of our anger. To begin, sit and breathe deeply, ask Mother Earth to accept your anger, and imagine it coming down your spine out of your tailbone, and into the earth’s deep core. To finish, be sure to honor and thank the earth for her loving service.

When we work with our anger this way, we acknowledge that like everything else it is merely energy that can be used positively or negatively. During our grounding meditation, we may be given direction to channel this energy for its best use. We may find that the earth can help us cleanse misplaced energy to use for its rightful purpose. When we do this with gratitude, we know that we are not misusing the earth for our own selfish purposes. Instead we are connecting ourselves with the energy of our homeland, and when we do this we nurture the earth as it nourishes us. AMEN! 😎🎈

I hope this answers your question on amber. Most often, amber is pressed with three or more pieces to make it more brilliant. This does not make it worthless because it is all amber. It does not make it less valuable. Most often it makes it more expensive. So, I if there is a piece that hits your heart go for it. Too many times i have !oved something and by the time I went to purchase it had sold out.

Left later than I wanted to yesterday to see hubby. When I arrived, found him sitting up in bed with feet dangling over the sides. He was happy and joking. I am now hoping that the Physical Therapy people are helping him to return home. I have asked that they teach him to use his hands to move from the wheelchair or a chair to bed or to a commode, etc. . Hubby is more concerned with my back and legs than he is with himself. But, the Tylenol or Excedrin really helps with the arthritis.

Yesterday, I also made another dent in the kitchen . Things are coning together. A bit slow, but at least there is progress. Today I am doing laundry and I just unloaded silverware from the dishwasher. Most were clean. A few will need to be redone because of spotting. I probably will need a new dishwasher, but will hold out for now. I just do not want the added expense if one is not needed at this time. The microwave came out looking like brand new from top to bottom, inside and out. So pleased with Clean Boss, though there was some fog on the window exterior and thus used a glass cleaner over this and it is spotless. At the same time I am making donations and thus getting rid of things I no longer use or haven’t used within 6 mos. to a year. Also finding that I have too many lids and thus will see what fits and doesn’t. I am also doing this for the pots and pans. I am hoping that Wolfgang will be returning to HSN with his stainless steel pans. I sort of have my doubts on this one, since there is no return date for him in the near or distant future. I am finding that his utensils and stainless are far superior to anything I own.

I am now waiting for the clothes in the dryer to be done and then I am off to the Farmer’s Market. Hubby asked for an Italian grinder and I will pick up a tuna salad for me. Their tuna salad is very similar to my recipe. I will be picking up ice custard from Culvers. Would get it from Costco, but they do not have the covers that prevent spilling. Costco has covers, but they have a hole in the middle. Will fill up at the gas pump on my way to rehab. Both Sam’s and Costco have the same price. This you do not see that often.

Hope you four have a beautiful Saturday. Temps are in the low 70s as I type with beautiful sunshine. However there are some pretty gusts out there. Not a good day for the beach. Been advised of rip currents, though I will not venture near the water until my buddy is home. Stay well. Stay safe. That’s for all.

Things are back to normal still a lot of heartache for what should have been a nice day

Sheba, Hello! Trails were happy. Stopped to say hi to some people and one of the little dogs got scared and apparently senses the Coyotes around. We moved along quickly. Have been watching a series called Damages. It’s very good, and won awards. Never even heard of it before. Well, I was rather busy working back in the day. Now I find all these shows.

Do you or any other posters here happen to know about Amber? The type sold here states pressed amber and I have no idea if this is a good or bad thing.

Had some frozen leftover ham slices from Christmas so having that for dinner before they get lost in the freezer. The Importance of Napping

The desire for a short nap during the day does not arise out of laziness, rather the need for the body to rejuvenate.

In the modern world, we’re often compelled to be as productive as possible during as many hours of the day as we can be. While this can lead to great feats of accomplishment, we may become exhausted and find ourselves craving rest and rejuvenation. We may feel like taking a nap but feel guilty about indulging in even ten minutes of rest. There was even a time when taking a nap was considered a natural part of everyone’s day.

Napping is a pleasurable yet brief period of sleep when our minds and bodies can take a break. Though judged by many to be a pastime for children or the elderly, napping can benefit people of all ages. The desire to nap is a trait shared by many mammals, and napping is still an important part of the day in some countries. Snoozing for a half-hour can be an enjoyable way to promote physical well-being, and naps have been known to improve your mood and memory. A 20-minute nap can sharpen your senses and revitalize you, while a ten minute nap can leave you feeling more cheerful. Falling into a light sleep during the daytime can feel meditative. The thoughts you have as you are taking a nap and the dreams you experience may offer you insights about your life that you may not have at night when you are in a deep sleep.

In order to fully enjoy the benefits of napping, you may need to give yourself permission to nap. Feeling guilty about snoozing or worrying about your to-do list won’t do you much good when you are trying to take a nap because your thoughts or feelings will keep you awake. Try to nap at the same time each day, and use an alarm clock to ensure that you don’t sleep for too long. Learning to nap and enjoy its restorative benefits can help you wake up restored, rejuvenated, and ready for the rest of your day. 🎈😎

I have been on the phone with my mom today we both drink our coffee at the same time. 💕
My mother is one of the best cake maker I have ever seen. I have seen a lot of cake makers.
Mom is very original how she does her cakes. My grandmother taught her how to bake, cook
and everything in between. 💕I can’t wait to go back to Colorado.

The days are going fast our son’s birthday is Sunday and he is hanging out with his
friends out here in Kansas they are at a Bonfire something they do at the house.

Nurture Your Seat of Power

Power is not about exerting our will over others, it is about being in complete truth with yourself.

Many of us don’t really understand what personal power means. We’ve been given the false notion that power is bad — that it’s something we use to exert our will upon others. In fact, when our personal power is intact, we are neither overbearing nor meek. We have a clear sense of our strength and the impact we can have on others. This actually enables us to be more sensitive. Personal power is what permits us to work on behalf of our dreams and desires. It allows us to realize that we are worthy and deserve to be heard. In addition, our personal power lets us extend the respect we know that we deserve to the people around us. There is no reason to be afraid or ashamed of fully owning your power.

In the chakra system, the solar plexus is the seat of personal power. One way to evaluate your sense of power is to breathe into this part of the body. If it feels tight or nervous, it is an indication that you may not be fully expressing your power. You can heal this imbalance by expanding the area of the solar plexus with your breath. You can also visualize a bright yellow sun in this part of your body. Allow its heat to melt any tension, and let its light dissolve any darkness or heaviness. Repeating this exercise on a regular basis can restore and rejuvenate your sense of power.

Another way to nurture your personal power is to honor your dreams and desires by making concrete plans to manifest them in the world. Start by making a list of things you want, and let yourself think big. Choose one goal from the list and commit to bringing it to fruition. In addition, break the goal into tasks that you can work on each day. Know that you deserve to have your dreams come true and that you have the power to bring them into being. 😎🎈

National Margarita Day on February 22nd rims a glass with salt and serves up a beverage that tastes like the summer sun. Whether you enjoy them on the rocks or blended, this day is for you!

Known to be the most common tequila-based cocktail served in the United States, the margarita is a cocktail that consists of tequila, triple sec, and lime or lemon juice. A key ingredient is the freshly squeezed lime juice. In the United States, the most common lime is the thick-skinned Persian lime. When margaritas are made with lemons, they have a much softer taste.

When it comes to sorting out the legends associated with the origin of the margarita, there are many. Two things are certain; the cocktail included tequila, and the bartender edged the rim of the glass with salt. In Mexico, when drinking straight tequila (especially if the quality was bad), the best course of action was to down it in one swallow, on a wedge of lime, and lick a dash of salt off the back of your hand.

It makes sense that the salt followed the lime and the tequila to the margarita glass. Today, lime is not the only flavor of margarita, and the specialists behind the bar have gotten creative mixing dried herbs, infused sugars, and exotic salts to enhance both the presentation of the glass and the flavor of the cocktail.

Margaritas can be served on the rocks (shaken with ice), frozen (blended with ice), or straight up (without ice).

No sun in the ‘burgh, on and off rain all day.🌧 The snow is finally gone from last weekend. Cold on Saturday but may get into the mid 60’s next week.

I haven’t heard from mom and sis, maybe this weekend. Sis’s birthday is tomorrow and I know they planned to go to one of the specialty restaurants to celebrate.🎂 BTW, the cake pics are fabulous. The decorators are one-of-a-kind artists. Would love to see those in person.

😀😀 I’m laughing at your high temps for today. It’s the same here in Florida. Tomorrow we will see the 70s. Well, maybe. Our temps this evening will be in the low to mid 40s. House is warm, so I’m OK.

I decided to continue working in the kitchen instead of the lanai. Still too cool to spend anytime there. Besides, I need to use the hose and with the temps in the low 60s, not a good idea.

I didn’t see hubby today. Instead I made another dent in the kitchen and rested when needed. It was a relaxing day. Somewhat……

Soul Seeing

The soul is the purest expression of an individual and is not bound by physical forms or fleeting emotions.

When we want to see deeply into the heart and mind of another person, soul seeing, also called soul gazing, allows us to see their soul. The soul is the purest expression of an individual and is not bound by physical forms or fleeting emotions. Through a simple art that involves looking deeply into a partner’s eyes, soul seeing can show you a person’s inner beauty that you might otherwise miss. It is possible for someone who appears cold to have a warm, giving, nurturing soul or someone of average appearance to have a beautiful soul. Soul seeing is a way of looking past shapes, sizes, attitudes, and behavior to see the real individual that lies beneath the surface. It allows you to see the true essence of another person, the radiance of their being, and their spirit within.

Soul seeing is accomplished by sitting face to face with another person. It is helpful to first state your intention before you begin. As you stare softly into each other’s eyes without stopping to look away, each of your souls is revealed to the other. Try not to look for anything in particular or seek traits you’re hoping to find. Simply let the other person’s soul reveal itself to you. After 20 minutes have passed, stay where you are and share a period of silent reflection with your partner for two minutes. You may have suddenly seen your partner’s inner nature as clearly as a bright day, or you may need to meditate on your experience before you feel comfortable with your impressions. Either way, soul seeing can be a wonderfully intimate and shared experience.

So little of who each of us is can be captured by our appearance or personality. The thoughts, fears, desires, and longings that are part of what makes us whole are not always written across our faces. Often, the most surprising thing you may learn while soul seeing is that while you and the other person may appear on the surface to be quite different, you actually share many of the same inner qualities. And then there is the unique beauty that resides within that is longing to be revealed to another who is willing to see.
