Sheba, so sad to read that Iris Apfel has passed.

Iris had courage to LIVE OUT LOUD (which I don’t have). She was blessed with a long and happy marriage and a great career and COURAGE to be colorful and not accept what people think a 100 year old should be like.

AmandaOhio, well said. We need more people like her.

Thank you for the memories of Iris. She was a colorful lady in so many ways. Sorry to say, I didn’t know until today. It just proves to me that I need to take time to smell the roses. I actually adore her rugs and they are the colors I am using. Just need to decide on which one.

The Rehab has been ice cold this week. I surmise it’s due to the Measles and Covid. The Governor here does not believe in injections. Some time ago, I decided to try Homeopathy and found a doctor trained in this health care. The one thing that struck me was that he did not like injections and wanted people to rely on their own immune system. At the time, I was using Andrew’s vitamins (I still am) and he asked that I bring them at one of the appointments. I did so and he was amazed at the ingredients and mentioned that I could not do any better. Hubby was on them as well. However, while in Rehab he cannot take any unless they are prescribed by a physician.

Speaking on how cold it’s been at the rehab. I brought a heavy duty winter jacket with me today. I also had a sweater in the car just in case. Hubby was in his wheelchair and had just finished dinner. He was shivering. I took the summer blanket off his bed and added my winter jacket for warmth. As luck would have it, one of the aides popped in to say hello and I mentioned that my hubby was freezing and that maybe being in bed would warm him. Within two minutes there were three people in the room re-doing the bedding and then helped him into the bed. He was so grateful. And he kept asking if I felt cold, and I lied and said No. I didn’t want him to worry. He fell asleep an hour later and I left about an hour later. So good to be outside and to feel the warmth of the mid 60s. Luckily, I had another Sherpa blanket in the car and the nurse followed me outside. They will be redoing the bedding while he is asleep and will add the blanket. The aides normally change the sheets just prior to hubby going to bed at night. This time they will be undoing everything while he is in bed. They roll everything to the middle to the bed and make hubby change positions to remove all the sheets at once. They redo the bed the same way. The entire thing takes less than 5 minutes. Tomorrow I will bring the hand vac along with “Clean Boss” to do the mattress. Other than that, life is good.

As for your winter cold, drink plenty of liquids and make some chicken soup with a touch of garlic. The change in weather and temps will do this every time. Glad your son made it home safe and sound. Wonder how Poppy is taking his absence and that goes for the kitty visitors.

I think you posted about the sub wanting a tip. It’s crazy how we are asked to tip for ordering online, driving to get the food, and taking it home. Some things I just can’t do. I know someone who loves to over tip and at lunch I said no won’t do it, and thankfully the other person with us said something too. I mean hey, you can give all you want but don’t try to tell me to overpay because they show up. No.
I only made it up a few hills and then it started to drizzle, i headed back to my car, but all for not as then a whole lot of rain fell. I ran to my car but it didn’t help. It’s ok though I don’t mind. We had some more rain tonight.
I think Heidi is back towards the end of the month. Should be fun.

Poppy and I went for a nice cool walk this morning I really needed the fresh air
and sun.

I think our weekend here in OZ will be a tiny bit warmer. Hubby and I will start a small
project due to the weather. I believe it’s called yard work.

Son did make it safely home by plane and now he is getting back into his groove. 😘💕
The girls are next to come home for a nice visit all have visit off and on the kids always

Good afternoon to you. Did some running around yesterday and this morning – drug store, post office, grocery stores and liquor store.🏃‍♀️ I think I will take it easy this evening. Hubs stopped for some fish dinners from the church so no cooking, yay!🦐

Haven’t heard from mom and sis since last Sunday so I’m assuming all is well. Getting back this Sunday night, staying at a hotel near the airport where they parked the car and back to the house on Monday. 🏡

Our weekend sounds like yours. Hubs was already out the last two days spreading some moss out on the lawn. Yard work never ends, especially with trees all around.🌳🌲

Walking Through Your Fear

When we walk through our fear, we often discover that the strength of our fright was out of sync with reality.

The situations, activities, and individuals that frighten us remain static. Their relative intensity does not change. Fear, on the other hand, self magnifies. When you are afraid and envisioning all that might go wrong, the energy underlying your fear grows. A tiny flicker of anxiety can easily develop into a terror that manifests itself physically and eventually paralyzes you into inaction. When we walk through that fear, we often discover that the strength of our fright was out of sync with reality. And we learn that doing what frightens us can lead to great blessings. Confronting your trepidation head-on will help you accept that few frightening scenarios will ever live up to the negative disasters that we sometimes play out in our minds.

Though fear is literally an evolutionary gift meant to sharpen your senses and energize you during times of great stress, it can become a barrier that prevents you from fulfilling your potential by causing you to miss out on rewarding, life-changing experiences. During the period before you face your fear, you may have to deal with a barrage of negative thoughts and emotions. Whether your fear is public speaking, taking part in an activity that makes you nervous, or asserting yourself when the odds are against you, walking through it may be equally as difficult. But once you emerge unscathed on the other side, which you will, you will likely wonder why you assumed the worst in the first place. While you spend time worrying about what might happen, it’s good to know that your fear probably won’t happen at all. It may feel like a great weight has been lifted from your shoulders, and you will likely feel a sense of passionate pride. Walking through your fear can mean taking risks and can require both practice and patience. Since it is challenging to act when you are gripped with fear, start small.

Each step you take into fear will strengthen you and help you confront future fears with poise, courage, and confidence. You also will find that when you are willing to stare your fear in the face, the universe will always offer you some form of aid or support. When you see the heights of accomplishment and personal evolution you can attain when you walk through your fears, your faith in yourself will grow, allowing your next step to be easier. 😎

NATIONAL LEAP DAY
For a day that is celebrated only once every 4 years (with some mathematical exceptions we’ll go over later) it sure seems to have a lot going on around it.

Leap year has devious explorers, beloved saints, partying boarder towns and proposal popping Irish ladies. And let’s not forget all the birthdays babies. They do have some making up to do on the celebrating, you know!

Since the beginning of time, man has been improving the way we keep it. That applies to calendars as well. Early Egyptians had a leap year in their calendar. The early Roman calendar had entire leap month from time to time to keep the days in line with the astronomical year.

It was Julius Casaer and astronomer Sosigenes who revamped the Roman calendar giving it 12 months with equally (almost) distributed days and adding a leap day every 4 years.

In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII adjusted the calendar once again. Because the Earth revolves around the sun once every 365.2421 days, one leap day every 4 years is just slightly too much. Instead of shortening the leap day, the Gregorian calendar is designed such that leap days only happen every 4 years except years evenly divisible by 100 but not 400.

There was not a leap day in 1900 and there will not be one in 2100. So a baby born on February 29, 2096 will be in the 3rd grade on his 1st birthday!

And even this adjustment doesn’t keep the days perfectly aligned with the seasons. Those humans who are still around in 10,000 years will have to address those issues. It’s truly not a leap day concern.

Been home just under an hour. The Rehab was icy cold and though I had a sweater, felt I needed something warmer. I had an in between jacket in the car, but felt it was easier to return home. Hubby was curled up like a cocoon under the sherpa blanket. The vent is right over his head and is the same for his roommate. I will dress in layers tomorrow.

Summer is just about to make an entrance in Florida. Temps today were in the 80s and nighttime will be in the low to mid 60s. Same for tomorrow. There was water in our driveway so I assume we had a touch of rain this afternoon,

I read Taci’s note about going through her jewelry. I did that several months ago and will be doing it again when I tackle the master bedroom. I have paired down quite a bit in the last few months and I still need to do it again. I will be redoing both bedroom closets following the kitchen. Meanwhile, laundry is getting done and until I do the closets and wash the hangers , all clothing will be going into bins until the closets are thoroughly cleaned. Sometimes I wish I had another pair of hands since I can only spend a few hours doing the chores. I try to get to hubby before dinner. Haven’t made it in over a week. Traffic is abominable. Takes over an hour to go five miles. And this is a side road. Not the Interstate.

I surmise your son is now back in Georgia. I am glad he was around when you needed the extra help. Hope he returns soon.

I didn’t see the full moon today. However, it did follow me home the last two nights. What struck me a bit funny was when I arrived home last night, the moon seemed to have vanished into a cloud. Guess it knew I was home safe and sound.

I am concerned about xango, though I am wondering if she and hubby went on awaycation to celebrate their anniversary. I am hoping all is well. Hope you have a nice quiet evening by the fire. Some rain is expected here Saturday and Sunday. I will probably start using the A/C again.

Sheba, always something going on in the world. Good for your mental health not to absorb it all, but do what we can when we can.
I have been really good, maybe too good about honing and streamlining my jewelry. If it’s not used or not worn in a certain period of time then off it goes, anything meaningful to me I keep. I have learned along the way that many bracelets just don’t fit my small wrists, or might be too heavy. It’s fun to update things from time to time too.

Objects of Power

Having a talisman imbued with your intention is a tool you can use to assist you in your journey.
For millennia, mankind has found peace and solace in objects of significance. When cleansed and consecrated through ritual, such objects — be they gems, amulets, herbs, or written words — become talismans. A talisman is any item imbued with a specific power by its bearer to serve a specific intention. Ancient Egyptians used massive stone tablets as healing talismans, while the Greeks and Romans used lead talismans to communicate with the spirit realm. Traditionally, a talisman anchors energy in the physical plane. That energy may be protective in nature or may be intended to draw abundance, wealth, or a wide variety of blessings to its user. Today, a talisman may be made of wood, metal, paper, stone, or natural elements, such as plants. Often, talismans are small enough to be easily worn or carried, and they may be marked with words or symbols that the talisman’s owner deems meaningful.

Creating and owning a talisman can reassure you and also serve to aid you in attracting what you want in life. You may use your talisman to help you attain health, security, or good luck. Or you may simply want to carry an object with you that will remind you of your search for soulful tranquility. In order to create a talisman, you must first determine its physical properties. This can be as innocuous as a strip of paper bearing the word “love” and carried in a wooden box or cloth sack. You may prefer a more visible talisman, such as a metal amulet or a gemstone worn as jewelry. Before your object becomes a talisman, however, it must be charged. This can be done by cleansing the object — with water or with incense — and holding a ritual of your own making. Or you can leave the object in moonlight or sunlight, or bury it in the earth for a time. To preserve its effectiveness, talismans should be reconsecrated regularly.

Almost any object can be transformed into a talisman of protection, good fortune, health, love, or serenity. It may be strung on a cord and hung around the neck, worn on a belt, or carried in a purse or pocket. But the physical properties of the talisman are not as important as the intention of its bearer. If you are grounded in your desires, your talisman will give you something that you can concentrate on to help you affirm your intention and achieve your goals. 😎

Had computer problems last night. I surmise that our cable will soon be down a few days. Men are working nightly on the telephone poles and cable hook up. All clocks needed to be updated.

Hubby was in bed when I arrived last night. I had stopped at the Farmers Market and picked up a few things. One of those things was strawberries. I think they call the almost white strawberries candy in our area. They were $3 for 5. The other strawberries were $3.99 for a pint. Since they are just starting to ripen, I will wait a week to see if the price goes down. I have to admit that they were so red and looked so tasty. So delicious in fact, that I just wanted to taste one. But, calling the EMTs put a NO NO mark on them. Plant City has their annual strawberry festival beginning tomorrow. It’s about an hour and a half from me, but with traffic due to construction, it’s over two hours. So, I will stay home and stop to savor other things. I think xango is no more than a half hour away.

I left hubby around 9 pm and worked on our desk. Things are piled high on both sides and it really needed a thorough cleaning. What a task!!!! Accomplished one side of the desk and put everything where it belonged. Today I will tackle the other side.

By the way, if your son is driving, he should check on road construction. The one thing I detest is to stay in the same place for more than 10 minutes. I found Sunday to be the better choice. At this point I am not sure if I will be heading North anytime soon. I am concerned with the trip , which under normal circumstances, would take three or four days. However, with me behind the wheel, I am looking between 4 and 7 days. That’s number one. Number 2 would be getting hubby to the handicapped area for the restrooms. He is still unable to stand on one leg, so not sure how that would work out. The 3rd question would be the hotel rooms. I mentioned to hubby that he would need to be a little more self sufficient since I will not be able to lift. I know in our own home he will be OK. Just not sure on the how too on the way North.

I knew you were super busy. Oz is frozen tonight and our son is home in GA.
Son flew in and out it’s only a two hour plane ride from OZ to GA. 😘😎

It takes us longer to get to the Airport and home and by that time the plane has landed.
We have a good laugh about it.

Oodie I think some of these food places have had a change of heart about going up on
prices during certain times I don’t think that is fair. I took all of us last week to subway
and to my surprise the sandwiches were 16.00 a piece and no sides. Plus you had the option
to leave a tip. What what? We drove there and waited there while one person made the
sandwiches which were to go and the cash register showed where you could leave a tip.

I don’t eat a lot of fast foods a lot but I feel if I want to I should be able to do so at a fair
price. I feel different about a nice eatery where I know to tip and don’t mind. I think
Wait Staff earn their money.

I have a head cold coming and going out of the house with the animals. I am so thankful
our son was here during some much needed time. I left his room in top shape he said if
we ever need him again he will come back sooner. The girls are the same way. 😘

Sheba, since you’re forcing me ok….. so I ended up with Connie Craig Carol floral drop earrings 850-278 and the Amber Extraordinaire Tree of Life Pendant, it’s an AS IS and Silver is the colorway they have left. I really am not buying too much these days but sometimes it’s fun to try something new that I don’t have and is different for me.
I did sell off some older items that I don’t wear much of so that’s how I do it. I don’t want to accumulate too much.
Well off to hike soon and then a short walk with a friend.

Hope you didn’t lose power last night and all trees are standing. We had thunderstorms during the night and this morning.⛈ It is now windy and the temps are falling.🥶 One day cold and it will be near 70 over the weekend. Crazy, no wonder people are sick.🤒

Now I have my eye on a few items. The Amber piece is in the running still. Today I wore a small dangling pair of crystal earrings that I bought in LA over 30 years ago, maybe my 1st year in CA.
The cakes and flowers are beyond lovely and creative.

Surrender Box

A surrender box is a tool to let go of our burdens so the universe can take care of them for us.
There are times when our minds become too full. Our to-do lists, worries, plans, and dreams may be so crowded together in our heads that we don’t have room to think. We may believe that we are somehow taking care of our desires and concerns by keeping them at the forefront of our minds. In maintaining our mental hold on every detail, however, we may actually delay the realization of our dreams and the resolution of our worries because we won’t let them go. At times such as these, we may want to use a surrender box.

A surrender box allows us to let go of our worries and desires so the universe can take care of them for us. We write down what we want or need to happen and then place the note into a box. By writing and placing our thoughts in the box, we are taking action and letting the universe know we need help and are willing to surrender our feelings. We give ourselves permission to not concern ourselves with that problem any longer and trust that the universe is taking care of it. You may even want to decorate your box and place it in a special place. Your surrender box is a sacred container for your worries. Not only do you free up space in your mind by letting go of our worries and desires and dropping them into your surrender box, but you are giving your burden over to a higher power. Once we drop our worries and desires into the surrender box, we free our minds so we can be fully present in each moment.

Surrendering our worries and concerns and placing them in the hands of the universe doesn’t mean that we’ve given up or have been defeated. Instead, we are releasing the realization of our desires and the resolution of our worries and no longer concerning ourselves with their outcomes. It’s always fun to go back and pull the slips of paper out of the box once your requests have been granted. And it’s amazing how quickly problems go away and dreams come true when we finally let go and allow a higher power to help us. AMEN! 😎😘
