Conversation -23

  • Sheba2011
  • 02.14.24 4:52 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 23 out of the
series. I created and started this thread 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

      ASH WEDNESDAY

Ash Wednesday signals the beginning of Lenten season for Christians. It takes place 46 days before Easter and the day after Shrove Tuesday.

      Ash Wednesday

Those who celebrate Ash Wednesday reflect, fast, repent and celebrate. The ashes represent death and repentance and Ash Wednesday services focus on both. In many churches, the ashes are made from the palm branches that are burned from the previous Palm Sunday service.

Following a service or mass, the pastor or priest will invite their congregation to receive the ashes on their forehead. A cross pattern or other similar mark is made.

This solemn day begins a time of meditation, reflection, self-examination, study, and contemplation when Christians consider their own mortality and sinfulness in preparation for Easter.

      NATIONAL GUMDROP DAY

Observed on February 15th, National Gumdrop Day recognizes a favorite candy of many; the gumdrop! There’s no question as to what to do. Eat gumdrops and eat as many as you want!

      National Gumdrop Day

Gumdrops are a tasty, colorful, chewy candy that is made with gelatin and then coated with sugar. They come in a variety of flavors and can either be fruity or spicy. These little candy treats make terrific embellishments for decorating gingerbread houses and other baked goods.

The classic board game, Candy Land, features both a Gumdrop Pass and a Gumdrop Mountain.

Besides enjoying them by the handful, there are many other ways to use gumdrops:

      In cookies
      Decorate cakes or cupcakes
      In popcorn cake
      For crafts
      For gifts
You can also make gumdrops yourself. According to many recipes, you would need vegetable oil, sugar, corn syrup, fruit juice, powdered fruit pectin, baking soda, and food coloring.

Credit for the modern gumdrop goes to chemist and candy manufacturer Percy S. Truesdell. According to articles written after his death in 1948, Truesdell took the once hard, poorly flavored glob of sugar and turned it into the smooth, chewy delight we enjoy today. While at the University of Ohio, the chemist altered the consistency of the candy by experimenting with the amount of starch used. He later worked for the Snyder-Chafee Company until 1915. In 1916, Truesdell founded and incorporated the P.S. Truesdell Candy Manufacturing Company. At his death, he became known as the Gumdrop King.

      @xango,

Good morning in Florida. 🎈💕😘Thank you for your post last night. I was feeling really
down and I still feel for all the families truly impacted by the events of yesterday.

I did eat a little and I thank god my family is safe. Hubby went to work and son is working
now. Xango our local news is still covering this tragedy all day. I have said prayers and will
      continue.

Well this is 10 years of posting and creating this thread through all the noise. 😎
I feel like the most hated woman on HSN for no reason. LOL! People don’t know
that every song I post and every image is personal to me. I don’t go into other social medias
and copy or try to do any of what goes on in another twitter verse. LOL! I have my memories
and thoughts and a rich past. Xango when my fingers hit the keyboard I never stop until
I have accomplished what I feel. I have always said this is my diary and I love the people
that comes along for the journey. 😘🎈😎

I am not for everyone and that’s alright no one is perfect. 🎈 Moving forward I am affected
by yesterday’s event I go from a joyful day to a nightmare. This too shall pass.

Hey I hope the family is enjoying this special time. 💕😘😎 Xango thank you for being
here I do appreciate it so much. This is my little time to myself and this is how I like to spend
it. I have been posting lyrics and such since 1999. LOL! Really who cares?? I hope this feeling
goes away and soon I am no Debbie Downer. I may one today please pass and soon.

I plan on watching a nice movie today just to take my mind off of things for a bit.

I hope this day is a good one for you my friend. 💕🎈😎

      @oodiebom,

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie thank you for your post last night.

I love the gift you gave your husband. Oodie you do know Leonard Bernstein and others
with him were my boss during my Philharmonic Days. I am sure your husband did an
amazing job. Oodie working with Ethel Merman and Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Bolger from
the original Wizard of OZ and others taught me a lot about life. I have say they pulled
the blinders off I was so young. I know that was just a speck of time and it is time I will
always treasure. The things we talked about they left footprints not only on my heart
but my soul in a good way. 💕😘

I am still rattled by the events of yesterday they did finish the parade and the crazy happened
when it was over. My husband and son high tailed it back to Kansas. 💕

Prayers will be appreciated. I agree with your entire post from last night.

Oodie thank you for being such a sweet person and being with me I know I am not easy.
I do know I am good. 😘💕 Let me know if your A/C is fixed. We have the heat on today.

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. 💕😎🎈Taci thank you for your post last night.

I know it was a very sad day I cannot believe it. How can anyone do that to children?
I am feeling melancholy today and this is not my forte. I have been to hail and back
but I have never felt like this.

Taci after all the noise my family and I had a nice evening we did pray for the people
who were injured and this Region will not feel right for some time.

Welcome to the 10th year of this Thread. 💕🎈Taci as you know I have done many
threads in the HSN Community this is not my only thread. I am glad the community
is opened for all to post.

      Happy Trails To You. 😘🎶🎶

Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 😘🎈💕Thank you for your prayers and posts last night.
I feeling really bad about how things happened at the Parade. I am so thankful my family
      made it out.

I have to get over this feeling I am trying to protect my heart.

Moving forward I want to wish you and hubby a great day. Hey your Hockey Team
      will bounce back. 😎💕🎈

Oz is cold today with gray skies and I am sending true hugs to you and Jake’s Canvas. 💕

I am not feeling too well so I am going to take it easy today. 😎

      Reflections of Self

People you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them as well.

When we look at other people, we see many of their qualities in innumerable and seemingly random combinations. However, the qualities that we see in the people around us are directly related to the traits that exist in us. “Like attracts like” is one of the spiritual laws of the universe. We attract individuals into our lives that mirror who we are. Those you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them. Simply put, when you look at others, you will likely see what exists in you. When you see beauty, divinity, sweetness, or light in the soul of another, you are seeing the goodness that resides in your soul. When you see traits in others that evoke feelings of anger, annoyance, or hatred, you may be seeing reflected back at you those parts of yourself that you have disowned or do not like.

Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in your life can tell you a lot about yourself. Who you are can be laid bare to you through what you see in others. It is easy to see the traits you do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that you possess those same traits. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviors of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.

When you come into contact with someone you admire, search your soul for similarly admirable traits. Likewise, when you meet someone exhibiting traits that you dislike, accept that you are looking at your reflection. Looking at yourself through your perception of others can be a humbling and eye-opening experience. You can also cultivate in you the traits and behaviors that you do like. Be loving and respectful to all people, and you will attract individuals that will love and respect you back. Nurture compassion and empathy and let the goodness you see in others be your mirror. AMEN! 😎

I hope you are feeling better from this morning. Scary stuff yesterday. I’m sure this will be a very special Lent and Easter for you.🙏 The good Lord was watching over you and your family.

Getting chilly tomorrow, may have some snow Friday night into Saturday.🥶❄ Mom and sis leaving just in time. Have an electrician coming tomorrow to add a line and switch.

Spent the day with mom and sis since I haven’t seen them for almost a month with being sick.😣 Didn’t want them to catch anything before the trip.

Here’s to a brighter tomorrow, hugs and love to you, hubs, son and Poppy.🤗💖

Sheba, Congratulations on 10 years. You are awesome, and loved here and your thread is a reflection of you, your insight and artistry. ♥
What happened at the Parade is beyond awful. It’s hard to imagine and it hits so close to you as well. Glad your hubs and son are home,

This, too, shall pass. But it will take time. The memory, though, will always be there. But it will be easier to bear.

I had purchased two radios from HSN, but didn’t feel comfortable leaving them at night. This one I was able to write his name on and it was inexpensive for a Panasonic. Like your dad, he loves and craves music. Best gift ever. Best of all, it will keep his mind active.🎵🎶🎶🎺🎷🎹

The A/c is working. What you probably don’t know is that it also gives us heat when the weather turns cold. Thank goodness for winter clothes and pjs.😀😀🏝🏝 (LOL)

Enjoy your day and having your son around and also having a job he loves and that it enables him to work from home. Enjoy your day sand your walk with Poppy. The moon was gorgeous last night. Had to blink twice. It was bathed in yellow at 11 PM when I left the Rehab.

      Hello my friend 🌹🌹🌹
Having read your thread over some years now, I know you are no Debbie Downer. You are a really strong person and on top of that a Leo with passion and experience.
Your thread is so very important to many of us, and you inform us on lots of items we may want to purchase. As for myself, I have purchased many of the items you bring to our attention. I don’t necessary comment on everything I buy here.
I truly appreciate the work you do here. ♥️♥️♥️

What happened yesterday was dramatic, let alone having your husband and son attending the function is very upsetting. You need time to get back your thoughts, and nerves the way it was before give yourself time.

Family in Brazil are well, Carnaval has ended and Lent has stated. Don’t remember if I told you, I have a cousin that’s a priest. He’s in his fifties, he has studied and lived in Italy for several years, went back to Brazil several years ago. I met him in Brazil back in 2009.

Another cousin that is also evolved in the Catholic church. She works with children, gives lessons and teaches.
My niece, the mother of the one who still start college soon, she also is evolved in the Catholic church. However, she works full time and volunteer her time to the church some evenings and Saturdays.

Well looks like we here are going to get some cool days and chilly nights next week and then warming up again.

      Take care Sheba 🌹🌹♥️♥️🌹🌹

      Bless the Beasts and Children
      Song by Carpenters

Bless the beasts and the children,
For in this world they have no voice,
      They have no choice.
Bless the beasts and the children,
For the world can never be,
      The world they see.
      Light their way
      When the darkness surrounds them;
Give them love, let it shine all around them.
      Bless the beasts and the children;
      Give them shelter from a storm;
      Keep them safe;
      Keep them warm.
      Light their way
      When the darkness surrounds them;
Give them love, let it shine all around them.
      Bless the beasts and the children;
      Give them shelter from a storm;
      Keep them safe;
      Keep them warm.
      Bless the beasts and the children;
      Give them shelter from a storm;
      Keep them safe;
      Keep them warm.

      How to Save a Life
      Song by The Fray

Step one, you say we need to talk
He walks, you say sit down, it’s just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left, and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came
      Where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
Let him know that you know best
‘Cause after all, you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
      Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you’ve told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears you
And where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you’ve followed
He will do one of two things
      He will admit to everything
Or he’ll say he’s just not the same
And you’ll begin to wonder why you came
      Where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
      Where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
      How to save a life
      How to save a life
      Where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
      Where did I go wrong?
      I lost a friend
      Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
      How to save a life
      How to save a life

      @xango,

Good afternoon in Florida hey we are snowing in OZ. Xango what a beautiful post to me.
Honest it made me feel so much better. Xango this thread has been done during a lot
of crisis in my life. I am snapping back to almost normal but this tragedy will be with
all in my region for years to come. I want to say thank you for such a beautiful post. 💕

Xango the woman that was killed is well know here in Kansas and she lived maybe 15 minutes
from me. I did not know her but being a DJ I have heard of her. This lady was a good Catholic
Woman and did a lot of charity work she was also the mother of two only 43 years old.
So sad. I have said prayers for all affected by this especially her family.

I am just trying to process that whole day. Xango I have a cousin who is a Priest too. 💕
I think you have a beautiful family. I am going to Catholic Mass later today. I need my
faith to help me so I can help others. I may donate some blood if the community still
      needs it.

I appreciate you and all the strong women who post on this thread more than you will ever
know. Thank you for being a friend. 😘💕 I am having Salmon today.

Everyone is fighting some kind of battle. Enjoy your fresh coffee today. 😘

      @oodiebom,

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎🎈😘 Oodie thank you for such a lovely
post from last night. I am so thankful to have you and others as a friend. 💕

Oodie you are right it will take some time. I have not turned on the Telly because our
local news media is reporting and I cannot re-live that day over and over.

I am praying for all affected. Our son will have a birthday soon and then he leaves
to go back to GA with our daughters. All our kids are concerned because had they
been home my entire family would have been there. My mother keeps calling to make
sure we are all ok. I don’t think we will be totally ok for a while. We are healing.

The woman who was killed traveled from Kansas like my family did. Oodie she only lived
about 15 minutes away she is a local DJ everyone know of her. May she RIP.

I am glad your husband has music. 💕🎈Oodie the moon was beautiful and on that
fateful night I took Poppy out and just bathe in the moonlight and prayed. This is how
      I calm down a bit.

Oodie let me know how you and your husband are doing today. I am sorry you have to
drive so late at night. I can’t wait for your husband to be home. 🎈

Oodie thank you for your support through life for all these years. 💕😎

      @taci,

Good morning in S. California. Taci thank you for your post last night. I did not post
because I was not feeling well. All on the telly all the local reporters had the same sad
look. The laughter and joy that day was to represent was gone and in it’s place was true
sadness of the lives directly affected by the turn of events.

Taci I am so glad you are here on this thread. 💕 We have been on many threads through
      the years.

Oz is snowing now and we are cold so I have a fireplace on.

I am going to wish you a nice Friday and Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. 😘💕Lady thank you for all your support through the
years and especially last night. I am so thankful to have you as a friend.

Taylor Swift did a beautiful thing for the family of the woman killed at the Parade.
I am thankful the Parade was over when things got crazy minutes after. My husband
and son were already in motion and kept it moving. I am still somewhat rattled by
all of this. Both Kansas and MO will be rattled for some time to come.

I wish both your mother and sister a safe trip. 😎🎈

Well being Lent I am having Salomon and the fixings today with my family. 😘

I am sending very warm hugs from OZ to you and Jake’s Canvas. 💕😘

      Cultivating the Seed Within

We can learn to locate the seed of peace inside ourselves in order to have a reliable source of serenity.

In our noisy world, we often find ourselves longing for peace and searching to find it somewhere else. While it’s true that there are places we can visit where we can experience peace, such as sacred sites or buildings, we do not need to wait until we get to one of these places to feel at peace. Instead, we can learn to locate the seed of peace inside ourselves and cultivate it so that it grows into a reliable source of serenity that we can always access, no matter where we are.

We experience peace when we are in a state of mental calm and serenity. It might surprise you to notice how infrequently you allow yourself to be free from anxiety. Realizing this is the first step to inner peace. If you wait until all the details of your life are taken care of to allow yourself to experience peace, you will never feel peaceful because there is always something that your mind can grab onto to create anxiety. It is important to consciously set aside your worries and make time to cultivate inner peace.

Ideally, you could schedule time each day to meditate on peace and experience what it feels like to be calm and serene. It takes practice to learn how to let go of your worries, so give yourself some time. Inhale deeply, and feel your worries dissolve with every exhale. Remind yourself that soon enough you will be able to take care of everything you need to, but right now you are taking a break. As the clutter of your thoughts and concerns clear away, you will start to feel more serene. Allow yourself to move deeper into this state with each inhale. Realize that you have the power to free yourself from anxiety simply by deciding to do so. The more you practice feeling peaceful, the easier it will be for you to feel at peace. AMEN! 😎

Getting your snow right now, a couple inches by tomorrow morning.❄ Cold weekend but better next week.🥶

I saw the article about Taylor’s donation this morning. Have to give her credit for being aware of everyday happenings outside of her busy schedule. I know she donated to our food banks when she was here last year for her concerts. Granted, she has tons of money to do this but there are also others with loads of money who do nothing. I do admire how she treats people.👏

Went to a fish fry at the church, ’tis the season.🦐 I hope you are feeling a little better, warm hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Today the sun was out and it was nice and cool. Hiked a park with hills to climb. I get more steps there. The critters are all around but it feels safer at this location, and i didn’t see any so my trails were happy.

I do not think I could watch the news after such an event. I also honestly think that guns should not be given to youngsters or teenagers. Cal l me old fashion, but, teenagers do have problems processing the results of their actions whether it is because it is a group thong or what they have seen older people do or a televised program where guns are used. These young kids and possibly, their parents, will need to attest what they have committed. All their dreams and maybe some aspirations have been lost to a wrong decision that not only affected them but others who were just having a good time. A beautiful day is now lost in the shadows……So sad.

Well, I did see hubby tonight. The temperature outside was in the low 70s, but inside the rehab it A/C was on and it felt like winter. Hubby was curled under a sheet and two summer blankets. I removed everything including the two pillows so hubby could move up a bit. His feet were near or on the foot board. He was shivering and making him move a bit would enable me to fix the sheets and put the blankets on him. Yes, he got his pillow back. I also had a Sherpa blanket there and folded it over to give him extra comfort. I actually wished that there would be enough room for the two of us on that bed. It was freezing. I guess keeping the temps low reduces the chance of viruses. I don’t know. Whatever. However, one thing I did notice was that the real bad leg was moveable. That leg was not bent to the side, but was straight out. Will he be able to use it????? I don’t know. All I can say is that he was moving that leg as if it was OK. I have tons of rethinking to do.

Another thing I happened to see on the news on line was something new on knee surgery. Seems that some part of the surgery can be done as an out patient. Best of all, it is non-evasive. Not sure if this will help hubby. But you betcha I will be watching. This is adding the cartilage that was lost due to falls and arthritis.

Hope you four have another wonderful evening. and a better tomorrow. Good night. Stay safe.

      NATIONAL CAREGIVERS DAY

National Caregivers Day on the third Friday in February honors the healthcare professionals across the country providing long-term and hospice care.

      National Caregivers Day

Around the nation, dedicated healthcare professionals serve those who require long-term or hospice care. They provide vital services, reassuring patients and the families who care about them. Often loved ones require care we are unable to provide due to our inability physically or not having the skills or means to provide the care. Expert caregivers are trained to provide round-the-clock services in safe environments. Their care enables the family to focus on their loved one’s healing process. In hospice care, a caregiver allows the family to spend time with their loved one without worrying about medical responsibilities.

Caregivers deliver a variety of duties from personal care to medical services with compassion and professionalism. Their days may be long and demanding, but they provide support to those who need it most.

The celebration recognizes caregivers who provide quality, compassionate care every day.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman killed in the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, has caught the attention of Taylor Swift.

Swift made donations on the Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan Memorial page totaling $100,000 early Friday morning.

Vigil held to remember woman killed in Chiefs Super Bowl rally shooting
Along with the donation was a note that said, “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift”

When Swift donated, the page was almost at its $75,000 goal. As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, the page has reached $183,648.

Around 1,300 people had made donations when Swift pushed the total beyond the goal in the early hours of Friday morning, first making a donation of $50,000 and then making a second donation of $50,000 eight minutes later.

Swift’s team confirmed to Variety that the donations by the singer appearing on the page were hers. 💕😘

      Carolina
      Song by Taylor Swift

      Oh, Carolina creeks
      Running through my veins
Lost I was born, lonesome I came
      Lonesome I’ll always stay
      Carolina knows
      Why for years I roam
Free as these birds, light as whispers
      Carolina knows
And you didn’t see me here
No, they never did see me here
      And she’s in my dreams
Into the mist, into the clouds
      Don’t leave
I make a fist, I’ll make it count
And there are places I will never ever go
And things that only Carolina will ever know
      Carolina stains
      On the dress she left
      Indelible scars, pivotal marks
Blue as the life she fled
      Carolina pines
      Won’t you cover me?
Hide me like robes down the back road
      Muddy these webs we weave
And you didn’t see me here
No, they never did see me
      And she’s in my dreams
Into the mist, into the clouds
      Don’t leave
I’ll make a fist, I’ll make it count
And there are places I will never ever go
And things that only Carolina will ever know
      Oh
      Oh
      Oh
And you didn’t see me here
They never did see me here
No, you didn’t see me here
      They never saw me
      Oh, Carolina knows
      Why for years they’ve said
That I was guilty as sin
And sleep in a ‘s bed
      But the sleep comes fast
      And I’ll meet no ghosts
It’s between me, the sand, and the sea
      Carolina knows

      NATIONAL CABBAGE DAY

National Cabbage Day on February 17th recognizes a delightful garden staple that provides some of the best recipes for the Celtic holidays coming up next month. It’s an excellent day to test your corned beef and cabbage skills alongside other delicious seasonal dishes.

      National Cabbage Day

From the French caboche, meaning head, cabbage comes in a variety of forms. The cabbage family is quite varied and includes Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, kohlrabi and kale. Cabbage is an ancient food with origins in Asia Minor (Turkey today) and the eastern Mediterranean.

French explorer Jacques Cartier was the first to bring cabbage to the Americas.

When selecting a cabbage, the head should be firm and dense. The fibrous leaves of a healthy cabbage should be shiny and crisp with no browning or bruising.

Cabbage is versatile and can be eaten raw, steamed or sautéd. A popular ingredient in Asian, German, Irish and Latin recipes, it’s a culturally diverse food. Having low calories (6 per leaf) makes cabbage a popular diet food as well. It has no fat or cholesterol, is low in sodium and carbs, and is a good source of Vitamin C.

As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind a silver screen
      And all its sad good-byes
      I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
      Though it’s easy to pretend
      I know you’re not a fool
I should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’d been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you, oh
      Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
      To the heart and mind
      Ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
      Pain is all you’ll find
      I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
      Though it’s easy to pretend
      I know you’re not a fool
I should’ve known better than to cheat a friend (should’ve known better, yeah)
And waste the chance that I’d been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you, oh
      Never without your love
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
      Maybe it’s better this way
We’d hurt each other with the things we’d want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But now, who’s gonna dance with me?
      Please stay
And I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
      Though it’s easy to pretend
      I know you’re not a fool
I should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’d been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you, oh
      now that you’re gone
(Now that you’re gone) was what I did so wrong, so wrong
That you had to leave me alone?

George Michael wasn’t just an incredible singer, but a generous philanthropist – this was just one of his secret acts of kindness… 💜

A woman who appeared on Deal or No Deal was given £15,000 by an “anonymous donor” after she talked on air about her reasons for applying for the TV show.
Lynette Gillard appeared on the game show with the hope of winning enough money to fund her IVF treatment.

George Michael had been watching the show and secretly called Channel 4 call the next day, offering to cover the whole cost of the procedure.

It wasn’t until Richard Osman tweeted the story that Lynette found out who had donated the money.

Taking to Twitter she wrote to the presenter saying: “For many years I wondered who had donated this money, and now I know. Thank you. RIP George what an amazing person.”

Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh. Lady OZ is frozen and I mean frozen.

Well it is winter I knew she was not done not even close.

The Region is slowly come out of a deep fog I still play it back in my mind.
I can’t watch the local news just yet.

So many in the NFL are stepping up and helping individual families that were affected.
I am happy to see this happening. I feel both KS and MO will need time to heal from this.

I am wishing your mother and sister a great trip. 😘💕🎈

It’s been five years since we had the shooting at the synagogue and it is still talked about on the news and in the papers. Yes, it will take a while but that’s okay.

Cold here, too, wind chill will be about 7 tonight.🥶 Got about three inches of snow last night. A little warmer tomorrow and in the 50’s next week. Did a lot of nothing today, worked on taxes and watched some hockey and golf.🏒🏌️‍♂️

Yep, just like you, still searching, lol!🍷 Hugs to you, Poppy and the kitties🤗💖.

Sheba, those cats are lucky to have you and your family looking over them. Good job.
Even though I hear 2 under age people are being held for this, and most likely there are more, lets hope they are treated as adults and convicted to the full extent of the law.
It’s cloudy here and misty. I will force myself out in a while i hope.

      Jesus to a Child
      Song by George Michael

      Kindness
      In your eyes, I guess
      You heard me cry
      You smiled at me
      Like Jesus to a child
      I’m blessed
      I know
      Heaven sent
      And Heaven stole
      You smiled at me
      Like Jesus to a child
      And what have I learned
      From all this pain
I thought I’d never feel the same
      About anyone
      Or anything again
      But now I know
      When you find your love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
      When you’ve been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there’s no hope in sight
      Sadness
      In my eyes
      No one guessed
      Or no one tried
      You smiled at me
      Like Jesus to a child
      Loveless and cold
      With your last breath
      You saved my soul
      You smiled at me
      Like Jesus to a child
      And what have I learned
      From all these tears
I’ve waited for you all those years
      And just when it began
      He took you away
      But I still say
      When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold, cold nights
      When you’ve been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you when there’s no hope in sight
So the words you could not say
      I’ll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
      I’ll make it for two
      For every single memory
Has become a part of me
      You will always be
      My love
      Well, I’ve been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
      Is always by my side
Oh, the lover I still miss
      Was Jesus to a child

      Mad World
      Song by Adam Lambert

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out spaces, worn out places
Bright and early for the daily races
      Goin’ nowhere, goin’ nowhere
And their tears are fillin’ up their glasses
      No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
      No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dyin’ are the best I ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very, very
      Mad world, mad world
Children waitin’ for the day they feel good
      Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what’s my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dyin’ are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very, very
      Mad world, mad world
      Mad world, mad world

      White Rabbit
      Song by Jefferson Airplane

      One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
      Don’t do anything at all
      Go ask Alice
      When she’s ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you’re going to fall
      Tell ’em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
      Has given you the call
      Call Alice
      When she was just small
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
      Go ask Alice
      I think she’ll know
      When logic and proportion
      Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s off with her head
      Remember what the dormouse said
      Feed your head
      Feed your head

      Entering Into Partnership

In partnership and relationship, we harness the power of union.
The purpose of partnership is to create something greater than we can create alone. Not because of any deficiency or incompleteness in us, but because each of us is unique, with our own talents and abilities, and in partnership we increase the efforts and talents available for creating something meaningful together. All partnerships, whether romantic, creative, or professionally-based, can be powerful relationships for personal growth. In partnership we harness the power of union.

It is important to choose our partnerships consciously. Sometimes forged quickly during times of need, we may find ourselves rushing into unions with perhaps not the clearest intentions. Partnerships created from those starting points might serve our immediate needs, but the repercussions of a union so quickly fostered without much thought can be difficult to recover from. Granted, there is something to learn from every relationship, but looking to another to fix or complete us can turn a partnership into a dependent bond. If we can stay clear about what we want and what we need in a partnership, while staying grounded and remembering that we are our own source of happiness and fulfillment, we can create partnerships that support and enhance the best of who we are.

Everyone in our lives is a mirror reflecting back the parts we love and dislike about ourselves. If we have the courage to recognize our reflections in each other, we can grow through our partnerships. A partnership that offers both acceptance of who we are and an opportunity for personal transformation can be fertile ground for growing a healthy, lasting union. When we find this kind of partnership, we are more likely to want to keep it, invest in it, and nurture it.

      NATIONAL LASH DAY

National Lash Day on February 19th each year promotes the love and need for true and false eyelashes. The day offers an opportunity to explore the benefits and fashion of lashes.

      National Lash Day

Eyelashes are a staple item to every makeup look and beauty enthusiast. Lashes have always been known to make your eyes pop and stand out from the crowd. As important as how they make us look, they also help keep dirt or substances from entering the eye and aid in preventing infections. Another important benefit eyelashes provide is preventing eye moisture from evaporating. Lashes shade our eyes in a variety of lengths and colors, too. Needless to say, eyelashes are a true necessity for every person at any age. 😎

      PRESIDENTS DAY

On the third Monday in February, the United States celebrates the federal holiday known as Presidents Day. The day takes place during the birth month of the country’s two most prominent presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. While the day once only honored President George Washington on his birthday, February 22nd, the day now never lands on a single president’s birthday.

Across the country, most Americans know the day as Presidents Day. More and more of the population celebrates the day to honor all of the past United States Presidents who have served the country. Throughout the country, organizations and communities celebrate the day with public ceremonies.

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
      Song by Aretha Franklin

Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
And when I knew I had to face another day
Lord, it made me feel so tired
Before the day I met you
      Life was so unkind
      You’re the key
      To my piece of mind
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      You make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it
I didn’t know just what was wrong with me
Till your kiss helped me name it
      Now I’m no longer doubtful
      Of what I’m livin’ for
And if I make you happy
I don’t need to do more
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      You make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
Oh baby, what ya done to me
      (Whatcha done to me)
Made me feel so good inside
      (Good inside)
And I just wanna be close to you
      (Wanna be)
You make me feel so alive
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      You make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      You make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)
      ‘Cause you make me feel
      You make me feel
      You make me feel
      Like a natural woman
      (Woman)

Good afternoon to you. Sunny and cool today, still have snow on the lawns.🌞🥶

Went to the hockey game yesterday afternoon. The game was boring and lost it in the last few minutes.😣 But there was a special ceremony to honor and retire the jersey of one of our great players from the 90’s. It was wonderful! Lots of videos, humor and sentimental memories. I could have watched that about five times instead of the game.😊👍

Not much else happening. Mom and sis should be in the Bahamas today.🛳🏝😎

Enjoy the afternoon with your husband and son. Sending love and hugs from me and Jake.🤗💖

Good evening I love your post. I am watching Oppenheimer this week.

I love Cillian Murphy I have Irish Family and yeah there is lots of drinking and smoking. 😎🎈

My favorite movie is one he did with Liam Neeson Breakfast on Pluto. Great film if ever
you want to watch something interesting it’s not for everyone. I like his Irish buddy
Barry Keoghan from Saltburn now that is a movie I highly recommend and it’s not for
everyone. The Brits and Irish don’t mess around. I dare you to talk about the ending. LOL!

I love films from London and Ireland.

      Send in the Clowns
      Song by Judy Collins

      Isn’t it rich?
      Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
      You in mid-air,
      Where are the clowns?
      Isn’t it bliss?
      Don’t you approve?
      One who keeps tearing around,
      One who can’t move,
      Where are the clowns?
      There ought to be clowns?
Just when I’d stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
      Sure of my lines
      No one is there
      Don’t you love farce?
      My fault, I fear
I thought that you’d want what I want
      Sorry, my dear!
      But where are the clowns
      Send in the clowns
      Don’t bother, they’re here
      Isn’t it rich?
      Isn’t it ?
Losing my timing this late in my career
      But where are the clowns?
      There ought to be clowns
      Well, maybe next year

      Out Here on My Own
      Song by Irene Cara

Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been,
      Who I am,
      Do I fit in.
      Make believein’ is hard alone,
      Out here on my own.
We’re always provin’ who we are,
      Always reachin’
      For that risin’ star
      To guide me far
      And shine me home,
      Out here on my own.
When I’m down and feelin’ blue,
I close my eyes so I can be with you.
      Oh, baby be strong for me;
      Baby belong to me.
      Help me through.
      Help me need you.
      Until the morning sun appears
      Making light
      Of all my fears,
      I dry the tears
      I’ve never shown,
      Out here on my own.
But when I’m down and feelin’ blue,
I close my eyes so I can be with you.
      Oh, baby be strong for me;
      Baby, belong to me.
      Help me through.
      Help me need you.
Sometimes I wonder where I’ve been,
      Who I am,
      Do I fit in.
      I may not win,
      But I can’t be thrown,
      Out here on my own,
      Out here on my own.

      In the Raw
      Song by The Whispers

In the raw, in the raw
In the raw, in the raw
      Don’t choose too fast
You can’t judge a book by it’s cover
Make sure that what you see is what you get
      And read between the lines
      Don’t place too much faith
      In someone else’s reputation
Watch closely, they might be just a shadow
Of the person they’re supposed to be
      Just can’t fake it
Gonna see what you’re made of
      (In the raw)
      I can’t change it
      Everybody’s got their own way
      In the raw
      (In the raw)
      In the raw
      (In the raw)
      Girl, you look at me
But only see what’s on the surface
And I might just be what you expect of me
      There’s that possibility
      Just strip away your thought
And only speak what’s on your mind
      ‘Cause whatever I tell you
You know it’s from the heart
      And that’s the bottom line
      Just can’t fake it
Gonna see what you’re made of
      (In the raw)
      I can’t change it
      Everybody’s got their own way
      In the raw
      In the raw
There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
From what you really are inside
You never gain from tellin’ lies
      The truth wears no disguise
That’s the only way to find out
Some try their luck at love for years
They waste their time and so many tears
To make sure love’s on solid ground
You’ve got to break it down
That’s the only way to find out, oh, oh, ooh
      (In the raw)
So let’s break it down to the real thing
      Girl, you look at me
But only see what’s on the surface
And I might just be what you expect of me
      There’s that possibility
      Just strip away your thought
And only speak what’s on your mind
      ‘Cause whatever I tell you
You know it’s from the heart
      And that’s the bottom line
      Just can’t fake it
Gonna see what you’re made of
      (In the raw)
      I can’t change it
Everybody’s got their own way, yeah, hey
I’ll show you just what I am made of, ooh
      (In the raw)
      Right from the heart
Is where I’m coming from, yeah, yeah
      I can’t help it
      (In the raw)
      I can’t change it
There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
From what you really are inside
You never gain from tellin’ lies
      The truth wears no disguise
      (In the raw)
That’s the only way to find out
Some try their luck at love for years
They waste their time and so many tears
To make sure love’s on solid ground
      You’ve got break it down
      (In the raw)

      I Sing the Body Electric
      Song – Fame

      I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet come
I toast to my own reunion
When I become one with the sun
And I’ll look back on Venus
      I’ll look back on Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire
      Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
      We will all be stars
      I sing the body electric
I glory in the glow of rebirth
      Creating my own tomorrow
When I shall embody the Earth
      And I’ll serenade Venus
      I’ll serenade Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire
      Of ten million stars
And in time and in time
      We will all be stars
      Yeah (ooh)
      Ooh, yeah
      Yeah, yeah
      We are the emperors now
      And we are Czars
And in time and in time
      We will all be stars
      I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet come
I toast to my own reunion
      (My own reunion)
When I become one with the sun
And I’ll look back on Venus (back on Venus)
I’ll look back on Mars (back on Mars)
And I’ll burn with the fire (burn with the fire)
      Of ten million stars
And in time and in time (and in time)
And in time and in time (and in time)
And in time and in time (and in time)
      We will all be stars

      Misty
      Song by Johnny Mathis

      Look at me
I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree
And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud
      I can’t understand
I get misty just holding your hand
      Walk my way
And a thousand violins begin to play
Or it might be the sound of your hello
      That music I hear
I get misty the moment you’re near
You can say that you’re leading me on
But it’s just what I want you to do
Don’t you notice how hopelessly I’m lost
      That’s why I’m following you
      On my own
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left
      My hat from my glove
I’m too misty, and too much in love
      On my own
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left
      My hat from my glove
I’m too misty, and too much in love
      Look at me

      @xango,

Good day in beautiful Florida I hope all is well with you and hubby. Xango I am doing
so much better. Xango I went through something strange yesterday. I was in a store
shopping and I looked up and saw two well dressed Nuns from the Catholic Church
the minute I saw them I felt like I was going to faint. My hands instantly did a cross
I smile at them and they smiled at me it was a wonderful feeling. Rare in Kansas do you
see Nuns in a store. 💕❤️

Xango don’t tell anyone but I have mentioned it before during my high school years
my goal was to be a Nun. 💕 Well as you can see my plans changed but not my faith.

Enjoy your day OZ is alright we have the sun. 😘

      Things We Can’t Control

We develop grace as we learn, with the guiding hand of the universe, life will unfold exactly the way it should.

The idea of trusting the universe is a popular one these days, but many of us don’t know what this really means and we often have a hard time doing it. This is partly because the story of humankind is most often presented as a story about struggle, control, and survival, instead of one of trust and collaboration with the universe. Yet, in truth, we need to adhere to both ideas in this life.

On the one hand, there is much to be said about exerting control over our environment. We created shelter to protect ourselves from the elements. We hunted for animals and invented agriculture to feed ourselves. We built social infrastructures to protect ourselves and create community. This is how we survive and grow as a civilization. However, it is also clear that there are plenty of things that we cannot control, no matter how hard we try, and we often receive support from an unseen force — a universe that provides us with what we cannot provide for ourselves.

It is a good idea to take responsibility for the things in life that we can control or create. We work so we can feed, clothe, and shelter our loved ones and ourselves. We manifest our dreams and visions in physical form with hard work and forethought. But at a certain point, when we have done all that we can, we must let go and allow the universe to take over. This requires trust. It requires a trust that runs deeper than just expecting things to turn out the way we want them to. Sometimes they will, and sometimes they won’t. We develop equanimity and grace as we learn to trust that, with the guiding hand of the universe, life will unfold exactly the way it should. We are engaged in an ongoing relationship with a universe that responds to our thoughts and actions. AMEN! 😎

Another sunny but cool day, should be in the 50’s for the next few days.🌞 Still have snow in the backyard since the sun isn’t high enough to melt it quick. Rain on Thursday so that should help get rid of it. Hate looking out and seeing all white.

It was so great to have your son home for the last few months. So kind of him to stay that long to help you out.💕👍 It will feel like an empty home once he leaves and I know you will miss him.☹

Went for a haircut today.✂ Hubs and his best friend left for the hockey game tonight so I will relax with a cup of tea.☕ Eating back to normal, just trying not to eat too much. Good for the waistline!

Glad you are feeling a bit better.😊 Sending huge hugs to your son on his way home and love to you, hubs and Poppy.🤗💖👨‍👩‍👦🐶

      @shoelady60,

Good evening everything is getting back to somewhat normal. I can’t believe what both
cities experience exactly one week tomorrow. A Tale of Two Cities. I feel for the victim’s
family. I know certain things but I am not going to post about it. I will just keep all the
victims in my prayers. Lady as far as the shooting goes both people who pull their guns
did not know each other. What concerns me is why in the first place you would bring such
weapons on a day of celebrating in a Parade with young babies and children. I can’t wrap
my head around that. My family was there they saw and heard a lot.

I am going to take a nice shower and just chill. Thank you for your support I was so out of
      it for a few days.

      @sheba2011

I have been getting home too late to post. And, yes, I am resting. It is now after 4 pm and I will be hopping into a shower soon and will take off to be with hubby. Today, I will be bringing potato soup. The huge Thermos I ordered finally was delivered today along with the new patio dining table in sky blue. Tomorrow’s temps will be in the 70s so will work on putting that table together and remove all furniture and things from the lanai (including the rugs) so I can sweep and wash the floor from all the mud and dirt. At least now I can have one room totally done within a day or two.

Hubby is doing good. However, the new radio does have some problems and I will try other outlets to see if that helps in hearing a few FM stations. AM is good and thankfully, hubby enjoys the talk and the banter. At least we have some fun debates that are not one sided. Due to our weather over the weekend, he was in tons of pain on Sunday and kept refusing the meds. I completely understood because the lower back and left leg from the thigh down was giving me a headache. Though the pain was dull, the fact that it kept on going, made it unbearable. Aspirin hit it.

I did a recheck on the mileage to and from the rehab. I thought it was 8 + miles. It is actually 5.5 miles from door to door. But, it does feel like 20+ when you miss the 8 lights. One in particular will stay red over 5 minutes.

Hope you 4 enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Have a great evening as well. The days are getting longer. We had sunlight until 6:45 pm yesterday. I think when we push ahead an hour, Florida will be keeping that time permanent. I do like the extra hour. Seems I get more done. Oh well. I am almost positive that the kids won’t enjoy getting up in darkness and racing to the schoolbus while it is dark outside. And speaking of that. Many ride their bikes to school in dark clothing. No orange vests or bike lights. One really needs to observe the speed limit and even then you need the brights to be sure.

      @oodiebom,

Oz has been a wee bit warmer in the past two days and I am happy about that. 🎈😎
Poppy had a wonderful time out and about.

Our son will soon leave in a few days we will miss him. The girls will make visits and I can’t
wait to see them again. The girls we saw in Colorado for Thanksgiving with my mother. 💕😘💕
Oodie that trip was planned just right. The blessing was our son was able to stay the time
he did. I remember my mother would stand in the door looking as I left home and the look
in her eyes haunt me to this day as I now do that with all four our children.

When our kids are young they lay on our hearts when they are older they are on our mind.

Oodie as always you have your hands doing a lot of things. I don’t know where you get
the energy. I seem to have more energy at night I don’t know why. I am busy days every
day now some days are slower but I stay on the move.

Things are calm on both State Lines KS/MO with all that happened at the Parade.
I am so thankful they have two adults who are responsible for the actual shooting.
I hope they get their just desserts.

Oodie be careful out there driving I am glad your husband is doing well. I hope he loved
      the soup. ❤️

Time to feed the cats. MEOW! 😎

      FYI:

The story behind the song What A Wonderful World. 🎈🎶

It’s a happy song. A song of hope to be specific. It was written at a time when racism was persistent and when Louis Armstrong was a popular black performer among white audiences. Hence it was written to tackle racism in hopes of forming a society where people were equal despite their differences in colour.

      What a Wonderful World
      Song by Louis Armstrong

      I see trees of green
      Red roses too
      I see them bloom
      For me and you
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      I see skies of blue
      And clouds of white
      The bright blessed day
      The dark sacred night
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      The colors of the rainbow
      So pretty in the sky
      Are also on the faces
      Of people going by
      I see friends shaking hands
      Saying, “How do you do?”
      They’re really saying
      I love you
      I hear babies cry
      I watch them grow
      They’ll learn much more
      Than I’ll ever know
      And I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      Yes, I think to myself
      What a wonderful world
      Ooh, yes
