Conversation – 20

  • Sheba2011
  • 08.24.23 4:50 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 20 out of the
series. I created and started this thread nearly 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

      RIP Jimmy Buffett 🌹

      Jimmy Buffett -Margaritaville

      Nibblin’ on sponge cake
      Watchin’ the sun bake
All of you Parrotheads covered with oil
And feathers, and signs, and pins
Strummin’ my six string on my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp, hey they’re beginnin’ to boil
      Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble
      Wastin’ away again in Margaritaville
Searchin’ for my long lost shaker of salt
      Salt, salt, salt
Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame
And I know this is somebody’s fault
      I don’t know the reason
      Stayed here all season
With nothing to show but that brand new tattoo
      yes, it hurts
      But it’s a real beauty
Oh, I think she might be a Nantucket cutie
Or maybe she’s from the Vineyard
      I haven’t got a clue
      Wastin’ away again in Margaritaville
Searchin’ for my lost shaker of salt
      Salt, salt, salt
Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame
      I agree with that
And I know it’s all you women’s fault
      Coming soon
      Old men in tank tops
      Cruisin’ the gift shops
      The lost verse
Checkin’ out chiquitas down by the shore
I found ’em, I found ’em
They dream about weight loss, oh
Wish they could be their own boss
Those three day vacations become such a bore
I blew out my flip flop
      Stepped on a pop top
I broke my leg twice, I had to limp on back home
But there’s booze in the blender
      And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on
Hang on, hang on, hang on
      Wastin’ away again in Margaritaville
That’s where this ship is headed
Searchin’ for my lost shaker of salt
      Salt, salt, salt
Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame
But I know it’s my own fault
      That’s what the therapist said,
Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame
      They’re always in
And I know it’s my own fault

Hi. Read your post that your doctor’s visit turned out to be really good. Congrats to you. My appointment was cancelled the morning of the storm and rescheduled the end of this month. I didn’t realize how busy our physician was until this week.

Well, last night I never ended the way I usually do. I fell asleep at the computer and awoke in time to start a new thread. Not sure if it was around 5 am or later. Now, I am running behind schedule and will leave to see hubby within an hour. I have decided to either use Outback or Culver’s for an order out. They are close to one another (one block away to be exact).

Have a great weekend and hope your hubby has a safe return.

      @oodiebom,

Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie you had a great group last night in Trivia.
We are all concerned how this change will look as far as the Arcade itself.

I am hoping they keep Trivia I have millions of tickets and I know I will not spend them
all and I have never won ever. LOL! I am sure many can say they have not won either.

Let me know how your day goes and how your husband is. I am glad you had a couple
of days just for you. 🌹

      @sheba2011

Sorry to say I fell asleep during Trivia in the desk chair in front of the computer. I awoke early this morning and pos ted a new thread pertaining to Trivia. So far no one has responded. But when one starts, maybe others will follow.

Our house is extremely hot during the day since the A/C is not working. I contacted the Techs and it is a catch 22. What happens is when there is a rainstorm, water collects in our driveway and backs up to go under the house. The driveway dries, but the sun does not reach under the house, so that becomes standing water. The humidity doesn’t help either. To regrade under the house is impossible. To redo the driveway may be the answer and this is something I will be looking into. It’s been one expense after another since February and thus far I have put this on the so called back burner. The tech is hoping to return sometime next week, but the rain chances each day are over 50%. So far we have seen just the dark clouds that dissipate in a matter of a few minutes or go in a different direction.

The Terminix person showed up yesterday after 6pm. By the time he left, it was too late to take a ride to see hubby. The receptionist area closes after 7 pm. You could stand outside for over a half hour waiting for someone to acknowledge the ringing of the door bell. Contacted the head nurse and explained the situation. I was just distraught over the thought that hubby may not have eaten all day. He told me had to return hubby to his room. He made it to the front door in his wheelchair using his legs and arms. The receptionist said he needed to go to Publix. She mentioned that in the position he was in, it would take hours to get there. He said no problem, he would thumb a ride. He said I was in Connecticut when asked where I was. Not sure if this was dementia or a cry for help because he was hungry. I was going to stop at the Farmer’s Market, but, may just go to Culver’s instead. I think I will try their hamburger on hubby while I will have their chicken cashew salad. I will also add their custard to the takeout.

I shopped on HSN this morning. I purchased the Shark Wandvac. I’ve been using a tiny brush with it’s own scooper for scraps. I also checked out the reviews from other websites and they were between a 4.6 and a 4.8. HSN has the best price plus free shipping. I should be able to start the recleaning sometime next week if all is well. “Knock on wood” everything has been quiet for 48 hours. I was told by Terminix that the problem initially came from across the street. They are monitoring both areas (mine and the neighbors). Hopefully, I will be able to contact the plumbers, electricians and an appliance repair person in a few days.

Our temp is in the 90s today with 100%+humidity. Yikes!!!!🍦🍧🍨🥡🌴

Hope you three have an enjoyable and safe weekend.

Sheba, you too. Have a good Labor Day weekend. Is your daughter doing ok? My son is a bit sick and tested negative for Covid. He said some people at work have Covid. It might be time to break out my masks, and I still have a lot of them leftover from the Pandemic.
I did hike despite poor air quality and a lot of humidity. Only did about 40 minutes since I exercised a bit at home.
Hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!
Love how you feed the animals, it is very kind and endearing.

      @xango,

Good Afternoon in Florida I hope this is a good day for you as far as the weather goes.
Glad you only had mild raining I am sure you needed it.

Hey I saw my bunny in another yard and I know where they live now. ✨💕
The moon was full and beautiful last night I slept like a baby. My black cat
came and I was able to give him a good meal I mix some tuna with his catfood
and he ate every bit of it. ✨

What are you cooking for labor day? Hubby is off for four days and we will make the most
of those days. 💕😎😘 Hubby will do the BBQ and I will do the sides.

      Happy Labor Day Weekend. 😎✨

      See ya in Trivia. 🌹

      @Sheba🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Hi Sheba, Happy Labor Day weekend. What a lovely Full Moon 🌝 last night and
Hubby also arrived last evening and is off until Tuesday.
Glad your hubby is off and with you for these days too.

Right now I have some sweet potatoes in the oven. Sweet potatoes are good just on their own and no brown sugar 😋. I might just put a pat of butter on mine, but hubby eats his plain.
I already have a roasted chicken, just will place it in the oven to warm up a little. Hubby doesn’t like cold chicken but I do straight from the refrigerator or room temperature 😋.
We had salads for lunch and still have some to add for our dinner menu. I picked some fresh Oregano early in the day. Soaked it in water and a teaspoon of baking soda for 10 minutes. Then dried it and marinated in Olive oil for a salad dressing and or cooking.

Not sure yet what we are considering for Labor Day.

See you in Trivia Tonight. 🌹

      • Sheba2011
      • 09.02.23 2:47 AM

      @xango,

Nice group in Trivia and lots of ideas to go around. I do want to see what the new changes
are and I hope there are games all of us can play and enjoy.

I love your food and the moon is beautiful.

The black cat came early for food and so did the possums at one time I was feeding
six cats. 💕✨I am very busy at night.

Hey have a good evening with your husband I have a slight headache. I don’t know why.
I am going to watch a French sub titled movie Belle De Jour I understand every word.

      @oodiebom,

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie I am so glad you had some time
with your husband. I know he enjoyed his meal with you.

Glad all is well with your home and you are moving forward.

Oodie see ya in Trivia later I am sure it will be interesting.

Hi Oodie, glad to hear good news from you.
I am glad you stayed in the hotel, and that you had the opportunity to rest. You had been going strong like the Energizer bunny.

Thankfull your home was not touched by the hurricane. And that your husband was not moved, able to stay in the rehab. I am sure your hubby was happy to see you.
It’s always a good sign when your hubby eats all his food. Glad he enjoyed the pizza, fruit and his Mexican style dinner.

Hope to see you in Trivia.
      Take care Oodie.

      @taci,

Good Morning in S. Cali the moon was so beautiful last night.

I basked in it in our front yard and Poppy and hubby was right there with me.

My little black cat came by to eat and I was happy to fed him. This baby was so
      hungry.

Taci I wonder about Kittengirl too if I lost my son or any of our children I would never
be the same. I do pray for her. ✨🌹

New changes are coming to the HSN Community I hope it is all good.

      Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

Sheba, Change is a part of life, right? I told that to my hubs after telling him 30 years is a long enough time for my bed. I know he liked it and it was in good shape but it was time. New technology, update materials, all sorts of changes and I am very happy with this change. Maybe the Arcade needs a refreshing. I know you all love the Arcade and game night. It seems like it was a fun run. Hopefully that will continue in its new phase. I am going to try to make it over there tonight.
♥ you feeding the cat! You have a great heart.
Hope your daughter is feeling better today.
Can’t believe it but we have very poor air quality today and a high heat index so I am staying in again. Good thing I have a new book for later.

      @taci,

Good evening the moon comes out late in my area but all the cats and other critters
come as well. I feed about five cats a night. Taci some are really beautiful.

My favorite is a feral cat that is all black and beautiful on freezing nights I try to get
him to come into the house but I make sure he eats every single day.

The bunnies stay in the backyard and they love the grass and the fresh carrots I give
them hubby helps with the feeding. I miss the cat Charlie I think of him often. 💕

If I am out late watching the moon I make sure Poppy is around to warn me of other
critters Poppy does not bother the cats.

Enjoy your book I am going with the French Film Belle De Jour. 💕😎

I have a slight headache and I am jumping into the shower and watch my movie. ✨

Good afternoon in Oz. The moon was so bright last night that it looked like a light was on outside.🌕 Today is our last perfect day before hot and humid for a week.😣

If all goes as planned, mom and sis should dock tomorrow morning and be back in the ‘burgh by late afternoon, early evening. Sis will be leaving on the 13th and be back near the end of October so I will be running back and forth for six weeks.

Hope you, hubs and Poppy have a long, relaxing weekend. No labor on Labor Day!!🤣

      Calling On Friends

When we include our friends in the full story of our life, we build authentic relationships in which we can be who we truly are.

When we are going through a difficult time, we may hesitate to call even our best friends because we don’t want to burden them with our troubles. This can be especially true if we’ve been going through a series of challenges, and we’re starting to feel as if we sound like a broken record. It is important to remember that at times like these our friends sincerely want to be there for us whenever they can. We can always check with them to make sure it’s a good time for them before we start talking, and if it’s not a good time, we can call back at another time, or call another friend.

We know for ourselves that when we have a good friend, we don’t want them to suffer alone when we are just a phone call away. We want them to call us and share their sorrows with us, as well as their joys, because this is what sharing a life through friendship is about. It is at our lowest points that we really need to rely on our friends without worrying that we are a burden. If you are feeling self-conscious about having a tough time, you can bring this fact into the conversation by acknowledging it. Chances are your friend will reassure you that she is happy to be there for you. In fact, rather than feeling taxed, most of us feel better when we have helped a friend simply by listening empathically while they share their feelings.

Without our friends, we would be hard pressed to get through the tough times and celebrate the good ones. If we leave our friends out of our process when the going gets tough, our friendships can begin to feel shallow. On the other hand, when we include our friends in the full story of our life — the good, the bad, and the ugly — we build authentic relationships in which we can be who we truly are. When we do this, we invite our friends to bring their whole selves to the relationship as well. AMEN! ✨✨

Wake Me Up When September Ends – Green Day

    Summer has come and passed
    The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my fathers come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
    Here comes the rain again
    Falling from the stars
    Drenched in my pain again
    Becoming who we are
    As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
    Summer has come and passed
    The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
    Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends
    Here comes the rain again
    Falling from the stars
    Drenched in my pain again
    Becoming who we are
    As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
    Summer has come and passed
    The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my father’s come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends

Hello Sheba, Sorry you are having problems with this site.
It started as a beautiful sunny day after all the rains yesterday. But in the afternoon the clouds came in and the thunder started. We had a gentle rain and the day is still cloudy.

I hope your child recovers well and soon he/she will be feeling better 😊.
I suppose Covid-19 is here to stay, just like the seasonal flu. Yes it’s much more dangerous and if we don’t use extreme caution we will be getting more often than not.

The Sun is trying to come back out, yesterday the Sun set was just marvelous. The colors were so beautiful, at night the full moon was stunning.

      Take care Sheba 🌹

      @sheba2011

I stayed at a Sleep Inn. I started looking at hotels Monday and everything was booked. Tuesday morning is when I checked and I surmise some people had cancelled. I was able to get the Sleep Inn which is not one of the best hotels to stay in, but I had no choice. I was pleasantly surprised. The lobby was cheerful and even had a sitting area. It was situated off the main road and in the back that was surrounded by trees and shrubs and flowering plants. Next door was the Ritz Garden. My room was spacious and everything was in working order. The hotel is in the process of being renovated. It was a very relaxed atmosphere.

I was up at 7am and out the door by 9AM. Went straight home. Relaxed a bit outside and met with the neighbor next door. Then got some things together and went directly to the Rehab. Hubby was in the TV room fast asleep in the wheelchair. I immediately went up to him and blasted him for sleeping on my time. He was absolutely stunned. No one told him that I was safe. He had been a nervous wreck and ever so glad to see me. First thing I told him was that the house was intact. I had found out last night in a phone call to the head nurse that they had not evacuated the Rehab. Everyone stayed put. Guess I was concerned that they had gone to Orlando. Hubby was hungry around 4pm and wanted a pizza. I ordered a pizza and had it delivered along with an appetizer of calamari. Both were delicious. His dinner arrived from the Rehab and it was a Mexican dish. Pulled chicken with black beans, Spanish rice and taco shells.
I rook a smidgeon and it was good and told him to give it a try. He ate the whole thing including the appetizer and one slice of pizza. He was very coherent. Later he wanted to return to his room and when we got there one of the aides/lpns helped him into bed. He fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow. I watched some TV and must have fallen asleep in the chair. A nurse awakened me. It was after 10 pm. Hubby was awake and hungry. I cut one of the slices of pizza and he decided to finish the slice. Then he had the watermelon cubes as I got ready to leave. I was amazed that there was absolutely no sign of dementia. I hope and pray that it stays this way.

Now, I will get some rest. Need to put some things away. At least I have something to smile about. And, yes, I am again watching the tropics. Three more storms out there. A never ending battle during the summer months. I just hope they stay out to sea.

Never ending with Covid. Glad your daughter is on th e road to recovery. Just hope that there are no repercussions following. The nurses at the Rehab think hubby’s dementia stems from Covid. There are no signs of strokes or anything going on in the brain after some of the tests.

I am also having problems with recaptcha. Hate it.

A perfect day in the ‘burgh, sunshine, mid 70’s and a little breeze.😎 Good for relaxing on the deck. But starting tomorrow it be warmer and climb into the 90’s for the first half of next week.🔥

I guess mom and sis are having a good time since I did not hear from them. Hopefully the waters are calm.🌫

Is this a second daughter with covid or the same one from last week? ‘Tis the season, I see numbers are up again.😣 I thought about that at the wedding last weekend since it was indoors.

The recaptcha has to be a HSN problem since, like you, I have no trouble on other sites. Just like tickets not showing up, people having trouble with games loading, etc. Maybe something with the new changes taking place. I try once and if it takes clicking on 30 pictures, I don’t post.

Hope you have a calm evening, hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

      Enjoying Your Age

Wishing to be younger or older is a denial of the joys that have been and the joys yet to be, as well as the beauty of your life in the present.

In each stage of life, there are wonderful experiences one can savor and valuable insights one can absorb. Every new decade and, in fact, every new year brings with it wisdom, transformation, and growth, as well as ends and beginnings. Many people, however, believe that there is one age that eclipses the others. They expend energy trying to reach it and, once it has passed, trying to retain it. But wishing to be younger or older is a denial of the joys that have been and the joys yet to be, as well as the beauty of your life in the present. Holding on to one age can make it difficult to appreciate each new milestone you reach. Taking pleasure in the delights of your age, whether you are in your 20s, 40s, 60s, or 80s, can help you see the magnificence and usefulness of the complex seasons of your life.

Each new year gifted to us by the universe is replete with exciting and unfamiliar experiences. In our 20s, we can embrace the energy of youth and the learning process, knowing it’s okay to not have all the answers. As we move through our third decade, we grow more self-assured as the confusion of our young adulthood melts away. We can honor these years by putting aside our fears of aging and concentrating instead on solidifying our values and enjoying our growing emotional maturity. In our 40s, we become conscious of the wisdom we have attained through life experience and are blessed with the ability to put it to good use. We are not afraid to explore unfamiliar territory or to change. In our 50s, we tend to have successfully navigated our midlife reevaluations and have prioritized our lives. In the decades beyond, we discover a greater sense of freedom than we have ever known and can truly enjoy the memory of all we’ve seen and done.

Try to enjoy the age you are at now, for each age presents its own unique wisdom to savor.

Hi Sheba, everything ok here. Our area only had storms. We just had rain and wind nothing like last year, very mild compared to Ian.
I am just somewhat tired from staying up and very little sleep.
I don’t have to cook anything today. I roasted a chicken yesterday with vegetables.
Also cooked some oxtails for the freezer. I have plenty of fruit, so my meals will be chicken and fruit.
I hope Mr. Oodiebom is back from Orlando. And Oodiebom is able to see him. Also that their home was unharmed.

Hi xango and thanks for your concern. I am staying another night. It is still raining on and off and thunder is in the background as I type. Have tried several times to reach the head nurse and all I get is his voice mail. Have gone to the rehab website and the storm info is still runing. I assume they may return tonight or tomorrow morning. I hope to check out before 10 am tomorrow. I forgot to add my thyroid pills for Thursday. I also disconnected the WiFi and A/C before leaving. I was afraid of losing electricity and having a power surge. Thankfully, the storm was nothing alike Ian, though it was similar in direction. Also, the wind direction seemed to be more northerly which meant my home was. Or seemed safe. I am now praying that we are done with this weather until ……..🌋🌋🏝🏜🏖⛪🎺🎶🎵

Sure miss being with hubby during this time. I know you miss yours. Take care xango.

      @oodiebom,

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie have your plans changed again?
I don’t know if you are on the move are staying put. I know you have heard it a million
      times stay safe.

I hope you are able to check on your husband and property. Let me know when you can
      how things are going.

I hope all is going well for you. ✨

Hi Oodie, I hope you are resting in your hotel room, you deserve a break from all the work you do.
I hope your husband is back to the rehab from Orlando by now and you are able to see him. Also no damage to your home this time.
We only had some rain and very little wind, nothing like last year. It has rained off and on throughout the day. But now the Sun is trying to peek through the clouds.

Take care and be safe ❤️

      @sheba2011 and xango

Here,s one for the record books. I finally reached the head nurse and found that the rehab never evacuated. Even the website said they evacuated. It would have been nice to have seen hubby before and after the storm. Well, at least I know he is OK. I will run home to check everything inside and to replug and take the thyroid pill. Will drive to the rehab soon after. Not going to stick around or do any work outside.

I am still at the hotel. TV has been working sporadically due to a satellite connection. The hotel never lost electricity. I had enough food for breakfast and all meals for today. Think I will have fun with a Kindle jigsaw.

      @oodiebom,

I don’t know what to say I can’t believe your husband never left the rehab center.
Alright let us know how he is doing.

Oodie I am glad you are staying the extra day because you don’t know what you will
find at home. I bet it felt good to be away if only for a couple of days. I hate it is under
      these weather conditions.

Oodie take a look in the Arcade something new and different is coming the notice
is on the Rewards Page. Trivia will be no more after the end of September.

I wonder what is coming this could be good. ✨

Add your Manuka Honey and this will be right as rain. ✨

No more points is a good thing and continuing with the Arcade is fun and a great way to relax and unwind. Hope they do not take community down. I may start something in lieu thereof for all who came together on Friday nights. We have a month to make a decision.

The head nurse stayed all night at the rehab. I didn’t ask why he did not say anything. He may have tried to reach me. My cell was off entirely except when I used it. I disconnected the landline and the WiFi before leaving. There actually was no way for anyone to leave a message. Maybe that’s a good thing. Anyway, I will leave the house as soon as things are in working order. I am just so thankful that hubby is ok.

No garbage pickup until Friday. Recycle will restart next week. I will start with the lanai on Friday. I cannot wait to try those rugs. Furniture will be washed and c!earned thoroughly and I will power wash the lanai with a good disinfectant. Just hope the weather will be favorable. Thankfully, the rugs are for outdoors and supposedly will not take long to dry out.

A new beginning in the Arcade and in our home. WOW!!!!!

I have another daughter with Covid-19 she is on meds and is fully vaxxed.

My nerves are on edge with this Covid-19 Beast I wish it will leave my family alone.

Sheba, Oh my, another daughter with Covid! What is going on out there? Was she at the Concert as well? Hope she has a speedy recovery. Read an article about how some people with Covid do not ever test positive. It was interesting.
I watched the weather channel coverage on and off about the hurricane. It’s a lot for people in it’s path.
Well, no hike again, it’s just too hot and I am not good with high temps. I can’t live in FL ever or the SW and hubs sighs as he wants to move to AZ, but I just can’t do it, not yet anyways.
The good news is my new bed frame and mattress get delivered Friday (had this set prior to knowing my husband-true!). The bad news is our solar went out for the 1st time ever. The good news 🙂 is its covered by the company. The bad news is it costs a lot of money every day we don’t have it. Like you and Dragon say… always something. We just roll with it.
      Regards to Mr. Poppy.

      Your Body Is a Temple

Like yin and yang, spirituality and physicality are two sides of creating genuine well-being.

The popular phrase “your body is a temple” shares a concept found in all the spiritual traditions throughout the world. As a metaphor, it signifies the body’s role as a vessel that houses our soul. Our physical body is the vehicle that carries our life force, and through it, we experience the world around us and interact with others.

Imagining our body as a temple can inspire us to be more mindful and loving in the ways that we treat ourselves. When we acknowledge that our spiritual self deserves a well-cared-for physical home, it motivates us to tend to our body’s needs, to give it respect, and to allow the body to express its true authenticity.

There are many ways we can treat our bodies with love: choosing nourishing, wholesome foods — we eat with consciousness and care; prioritizing our sleep and times of rest — we can recharge and feel ready to meet life’s challenges; moving and exercising our muscles, limbs, and cardiovascular system — we build strength and confidence; being attentive to our body’s aging and evolution — we give it the healing and care to support our soul’s radiance.

Spirituality and physicality are both needed. Like yin and yang, they are two sides of living a fulfilling life. To neglect one in favor of the other leaves us feeling off-balance. By caring for our physical health, we cultivate more inner peace and happiness. It is through this harmonious flow that we create genuine well-being. ✨✨✨

Hello and how are you doing?
Got good results yesterday from the doctor. I stopped in Walmart on the way home. Got some groceries and the Cuban bread I like a lot. Even though I bake bread, I can’t get that bread just right, it’s so fluffy and tastes great. I also had ordered from Kroger to be delivered today. I did modified the order and removed items I got in Walmart. The heavy items such as water, milk etc, I just left for it to be delivered.
I am getting ready for the hurricane, cooking and baking today. Getting the outside ready so nothing flies away. Hubby is in Minnesota visiting his mother. So it’s me and the hurricane, but I am used to this. Had many hurricanes by myself.
Not sure if the power will stay on once the high winds hit us. Last year we lost power.

      Take care Sheba 🌹

I arrived at the hotel/motel around 2 pm after making a stop at the farmer’s market. Had a huge yen for a meatball grinder and it was on sale this week. Saw they also had a lobster sa!ad roll and could not resist. Happy person I am. Now have meals for two days. No cooking needed.😀😀😀

When I left home it was partly cloudy and continued to be that way when i arrived at the market.. As I exited the market a very light rain with dark clouds coming our way from the ocean. I had time to put everything in the car and be in the driver’s seat before the delugre. Good news it didn’t last long and I was able to see the road ahead without a problem.

Though the storm is following a similar path as ian, it does not carry the same punch. I do not expect any damage but one never knows until the return. It will be mainly a rain event. The wind will be no more than 50 mph at any given time. There will be storm surges along the coastline with some flooding. I signed up for two nights just in case. Using this time as a mini awaycation which I sorely need. Definitely will check the house tomorrow and may visit hubby if he has returned from Orlando.

      What Makes People Tick?

Many people are very different from ourselves and coming to a place of acceptance can make the road easier.

All people have their own way of being in the world. It is easiest to comprehend this basic yet profound fact when we consider that every human being on the planet occupies a distinct role in the universe. We grow up in different environments, affected by a unique range of influences. The preferences, values, and beliefs we embrace are frequently related intimately to our origins. And the need to individualize our experiences is instinctive, as doing so enables us to cope when we must face challenges on our own. Consequently, each of us has developed a perspective that is uniquely ours. Interacting peacefully and constructively with people from all walks of life is a matter of first understanding where they are coming from. Then we can adjust our expectations so that we avoid making undue assumptions about what they are about.

In the face of emerging interpersonal conflict, it is easy to assume that others are being difficult, unreasonable, or stubborn. We are apt to grow frustrated when someone in our environment does not share our opinions or feel compelled to support us in our endeavors. It is likely that the individual or individuals before us may simply possess differing notions with regard to what is and what is not important in this life. We can ease the tension that exists between us by reaffirming our belief in the fundamental right of all beings to determine their own destinies. To foster a harmonious relationship, we need to do our best to relate to the unique universes they inhabit. And as we discover what makes them tick, our ability to find a mode of interaction that is pleasing to both of us is enhanced.

When there are barriers keeping you from connecting with someone else, think of questions you can ask them to gain a more thorough understanding of their point of view. You may discover that in addition to the differences in perspective dividing you, they are subject to insecurities and other personal issues that influence their way of seeing the world. It is likely that you will never fully grasp the myriad complexities embodied by humanity, but you can go a long way toward encouraging mutually satisfying relations by reaching out to others in the spirit of sympathetic comprehension. AMEN! ✨✨

      NATIONAL RED WINE DAY
On August 28th, National Red Wine Day ushers in the flavors of fall. As the grapes ripen and signal a time for warmer sips, wine drinkers know reds mean tailgating and spicy foods.

      National Red Wine Day
Throughout the year, wine days afford us the opportunity to taste and learn about the differences between wines. Earlier this month National Prosecco Day gave us the last bubbly rays of summer. Now we savor the best of the season with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot noir, Port, and Syrah.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day on August 28th sets aside a day to remember the pet companions we’ve lost.

      Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day
The death of a pet, whether furry, feathered, or an uncommon variety, is felt deeply. They become family and a familiar part of our lives. Mourning their death is different for everyone, and the observance provides a way to help heal the ache of loss.

The pain of loss is real. As each person travels through their grief, we remember the companionship and comfort they provided to us. Don’t forget that part of the relationship included care provided by you. The empty space left by the loss of a beloved pet is sometimes a difficult void to overcome.

Celebrate the home you provided and the joy your beloved pet brought you in return. When you are ready, you will know the time has arrived to find a new ‘critter’ to replace the emptiness felt. There are many animals yet to find a home. In time, you can be their new home. 💕

Received a phone call early this morning that hubby will be headed to Central Florida tomorrow morning. I spoke to the head nurse, and as of now, I have no idea where he will be in Central Fl.. All I hope for is that he will be safe. Next phone call a few hours ago was from my physician. My appointment for tomorrow has been cancelled until the end of this month. Oh well, I expected this but the next appointment not so far away Oh well. Tampa International Airport will be closing around midnight tomorrow and I have booked a hotel reservation for two nights. This is just in case the storm lasts longer than expected. I am watching the reports closely and will also fill the tank before visiting hubby. Right now I am OK. Just a wee bit nervous. Wouldn’t be so bad if hubby was with me. I now need to check the lanai and to bring in anything that can hurt the homes next door and across the lake. Still no A/C and maybe that’s a good thing since I will be shutting that down along with the overhead fans. I will send an update when I can. Guess we won’t be seeing the super blue moon.

      @sheba2011

Good morning. I am getting some things together for the overnight. Bringing some food items for snacks. I probably will stay one night instead of two since this storm will most likely be over and done with by Wednesday afternoon.

I did see hubby last night. Gosh, he was just three hours ago when I left. Filled the tank up on the way home. Hubby will be leaving the rehab center around 6 am or so today for a stay at another rehab facility in Orlando and will return sometime the next day. The Rehab overlooks the Manatee River and though it’s on the bay side, it’s considered to be in a flood zone. This is the first time that the two of us will be separated and he is not a happy person. If he had the ability to walk, he would be home. When this storm is over, I have decided to start with the cleaning process with the lanai and then work towards the carport. The rugs for outside have been rolled up in our living room for months and I need to see what they look like. The wicker furniture needs to be deep cleaned and this is the perfect opportunity to move them outside. I have a person that will come in and power wash the lanai and the carport. loopholes. The new table and chairs will be near the carport. I am now looking for either a settee or loveseat for the same area. It will be an area for getting together or for just the two of us to sit outside with a cold drink and a book.

Looks like the inside of the house will need to be recleaned as well. Oh well. At least I have the Clean Boss which will rid the rooms of germs and Covid. When the house is done, may take a look around for a special furry animal from a nearby shelter. Not sure at this time if it will be a dog or cat or one of each. It will be something to look forward to. My only concern will be the ride North and the return. But as you know I won’t be making that decision until the house is ready and the homeowners association gives the OK. Getting a pet is not that easy even if you have a disability. In my case, hearing loss. There are other alternatives that want me to try. One is having a light go off if someone is at the door or if the phone rings. But, what happens if you are not anywhere near that light source. I could be doing laundry or sitting on the lanai. Guess I will cross that bridge later.

Oh. Almost forgot. Something good happened today. I was removing the small things in front of the house when I felt something touch my forehead. I put my hand up and saw the most beautiful butterfly. It actually kissed my forehead and then flew away. I was hoping it would return, but did not. It was a Monarch. I have to admit that it was very peaceful and serene. It just fluttered across the street and then disappeared.

Guess I will get some shuteye and now that I know what I will bring, will take the overnighter and pack. D-Best is in the van and all set to go if I need it. I will use the Kindle so I can play the games and have fun with a jigsaw or two. I will also let everyone know how I am doing unless we lose electricity. Have a great today and a better tomorrow.

Thanks for the note about walking around. I’m sure you can walk long distances with all the dog walking and such. Generally i am good for 5 miles. After that I get cranky. Guess I won’t be doing any marathons. We have heat advisories so I skipped the walk / hike. Hope all is well. in Oz.
Sounds like FL will have some storms.

      When Doors Open

Our lives are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces.

When a door opens, walk through it. Trust that the door has opened for a reason and you have been guided to it. Sometimes we have a tendency to overanalyze or agonize over the decision, but it is quicker to simply go through the door and discover what’s there as that’s the only way to know. Even if it doesn’t seem right at first, opening this door may lead to another door that will take us where we need to go.

Doors open when the time is right for us to enter a new space, metaphorically speaking, and we can have faith that walking through is the right thing to do. Sometimes we linger in the threshold because we are afraid of leaving our old life for a life we know nothing about. We may have voices inside of our heads that try to hold us back or people in our lives saying discouraging things. These voices, internal and external, are known as threshold spirits, and they express all the fears and doubts that arise at the beginning of a new life. Nevertheless, none of these voices can hold us back, and they will fall silent as soon as we cross the threshold.

There are many doors that open in the course of our lives, leading us into new relationships, jobs, friendships, and creative inspirations. Our lives up to this point are the result of all the doors we have walked through, and our continued growth depends on our willingness to keep moving into new spaces. Every time we walk through an open door, we create a sense memory that encourages us to move into the new fearlessly. When we enter the new space, we almost always feel a thrill and a new feeling of confidence, in ourselves and in the universe. We have stepped across the threshold into a new life. AMEN! ✨✨
