Good afternoon in Florida and I hope you are much cooler than I am. OZ is near the century
mark as far as heat index goes. Shizzle! 😎✨

We may have much needed rain later. I hope so I got up with hubby at 5:00 a.m. and so
many critters on my front porch waiting for food. I had a racoon seriously, a possum,
four cats. What was I to do? The animal kingdom seems to know where to come in the
wee hours of the morning. I do not like the racoon only because he likes to challenge hubby
I have not seen my bunnies in a while. Hmm..

Well we are in the dog days of summer it is what it is. ✨🌹

Hello Sheba 🌹 You woke up to an audience of furry friends. You must of been very happy 😊 and glad to see them waiting for you and the love you give them.

The heat is on here, there and everywhere and it’s only mid July. I suppose we just going to have to get used to Summers being extremely hot and Winters extremely cold.

Made hubby dinner with marinated chicken breasts in yogurt, paprika, garlic and salt. I baked it in the oven, on a metal skewers. I stuck the skewer into a whole onion and then I placed the chicken pieces skewered on top. Came out pretty good. Made green beans and broccoli sautéed in olive oil and garlic 😋.
I had a healthy dinner, then Panna Cotta for dessert with a topping of Blackberry 😄. Oh well can’t be all healthy eating 🤣

Oodie I did read your post from last night. Oodie seems like a lot of medical
staff take a part of July off. My own Doctor took off after the first of July.

I hope your husband is doing so much better and eating regular that seems to be
part of the problem. I think you are doing a great job keeping an eye on things plus
trying to take care of repairs and work at what your three homes. YIKES!

I think it is time for you to have a real vacation and soon. ✨😎💕
I am working on projects and so much to do never a dull moment taking
a much needed break as I type this thread today.

Hubby was in a wheelchair when I arrived and eating dinner. The person trying to help him gain some weight came into the room tonight. Hubby is losing weight and is now 138 lbs. He is 5’9″ and that isn’t good. He has asked for a grinder from our new place and I will do that today since it is now Thursday, Today is garbage and recycle and everything is all set. I have an alarm set for 9am and will bring everything to the curb at that time. Following will now go to Lowes to check out lawn furniture and to purchase other things sorely needed. I have one area on the lanai that was not completed and have contacted the roofer who has sent a note to the owners. What is missing is the downspout from the roof and the overhang. Also one section of the screen is coming away from the wood. This part should not be happening at this time. The wind has not been that fierce. Oh yes, the screened door is another issue. The new screened door has a lock mechanism. However, It is at the top of the door. I would need a step stool to go up and down. Since I am alone, will not be doing this part unless a neighbor is nearby. So now I wait.

I did enjoy the two days of the prime event with Amazon. You really needed to remember prices to make it to your advantage. Hubby enjoyed being part of it as well. He was very focused. I need to get him out of this rehab situation. There are a few things that are stopping this from happening. 1. He needs to be able to get himself in and out of bed. 2. He needs therapy to help him stand and walk so he can get in and out of the van. 3. He will need to climb stairs, though a ramp can easily be built at all our homes. And where there are quite a few steps, a sit down elevator will come in handy. However, if he is able to go through the reconstructive surgery on both knees, all of these things will not be necessary and probably will help him more rather than being a hinderance.

Starting today, I will be totally working on the house in the am. I decided to start with the front door and go from that point. Looking forward to using Clean Boss. I also need to be with hubby earlier to see what is actually going on and also make more time to pick up in between snacks besides fruits to give him more energy and strength. And speaking of this, just decided to purchase bagels and bring a toasted bagel with cream cheese and lox. Guess you can say that this is my way of starting to bring better nutrition as well as something that tastes good.

You’re right. I do need an awaycation. That will happen when hubby is out of rehab and we can again do things together. A new adventure awaits.

Taci I do think people do not mind you looking at their dogs. I have no problem with people
looking at Poppy as he is a beautiful dog. I worry when the kids want to play with him he
is very protective of me I keep him on a leash when we go for long walk. ✨

Hey in these parts and most places those little shoes are paramount when you have a animal
on hot pavements. ✨

Hello Sheba! The Trails were Happy (and hot). I guess we have warmed up here, lots of heat warnings. No one wanted to hike with me today because of the heat but I still had a great time.

Seems like the local animals know you will help them out.
We have been seeing ants, teeny tiny black ones and it’s probably due to the heat.

Love, love the pooch pic!💗 Looks like a blonde Jake. Ran around in the morning and staying cool inside this afternoon. Had a hankering for chicken salad so made that for dinner. Something a little lighter for the warm day.

Watch out for those raccoons, my husband has caught a number of them over the years in a cage he has. Puts it in the car and drives a couple miles to a wooded area to let them out. They dig up our lawn and make a mess.😣 We’ve had two killed on our road in front of my house and the neighbor’s in the last week. I did see our groundhog yesterday and a bunny today.🦡🐇

Take it easy this evening with a cool drink. I enjoyed my favorite blue-tini last night.🤗💖

Acknowledging Your Growth

Creating a written list, in a journal or otherwise, of those strengths, aptitudes, and inner qualities you now have can help you accept that you are not the same person you were 10 years ago, five years ago, or even a year ago. Your attitudes, opinions, and values were likely markedly different, and these differences can be ascribed to your willingness to accept that you still have much to learn. If you have difficulty giving yourself credit for these changes, think about the goals you realized, the lives you touched, the wisdom you acquired, and the level of enlightenment you attained over the past years.

I went to rehab without food and found hubby finishing dinner. Then he became shaky and I asked him if he missed any meals and he said breakfast and lunch. He told the staff he wasn’t hungry so they took the food away. An hour later he said he wanted a pizza. I had the cell and decided to check and found all the good ones were closed both Monday and Tuesday. The only place opened was Culver’s and he didn’t want a sandwich or a salad. So today I will cover all the bases. First to the Farmer’s Market and then Culver’s for their ice cream. I will not purchase anything for the house today since I will be going straight to rehab with one extra stop. The head nurse/unit mgr was not there and Administration’s offices are closed for the week. I also tried to contact the urologist and guess their offices are also closed. And then I really need to see our physician and guess what, their offices were closed last week and this week. Guess I will resort to the walk in if things get worse. The doctor’s offices did have someone covering the phones, but that was it. I am very concerned with the shaking and it does disappear after eating and then the brain is there as if nothing happens. I will be buying quite a few things in fruit and also a salad for both of us. Now to check on another place for pizza and if open, will put an order in while still in the parking lot of the Farmer’s Market.

Oodie, hope you get some answers soon. Maybe your hubs has low blood sugar between meals and needs steady snacks or boost type drinks. I know you have it covered.

I decided to venture to Aldi’s instead of the Farmer’s Market. I was able to find cut up watermelon and pineapple and also strawberries. Picked up some cookies that I know hubby likes and a salad for me. I was in Aldi’s all of 15 minutes and then packed everything into a market bag and slid it into the dbest pouch. I ordered a pizza while in the parking lot and it was ready by the time I arrived. Hubby’s dinner was on his table. The food had not been touched. He was in bed and not sitting up. His knee was giving him pain and I could sympathize because my left ankle was giving me a problem and a half. It is just as swollen as his knee. Anyway, his dinner consisted of a nice portion of ham with macaroni and cheese and over cooked broccoli. For dessert he had a small container of canned pineapple with juice. Even though I had the pizza, his dinner didn’t look all that bad. I cut up the ham and then dipped it into the pineapple juice and added a pineapple to the fork. He loved the combo. Didn’t like the macaroni and cheese (it was overdone) and hated the broccoli. Why the nurses didn’t help him to sit up a bit is beyond me. His position was awful and the pain in his knee was unbearable. Anyway, a little later he tried the pizza and his comment was that I didn’t go to our newest place. Had to remind him that the new place was closed. He was right, the pizza was not as good as the other one. But, at least he ate one huge slice and I was happy. Washed the fruit and left it on his table to he can enjoy it during the early morning hours. I stayed until after 10 pm.

We had rain twice yesterday. The first storm was around 5 pm and the second one after 8pm. Both were hard hitters. We need the rain so it was a no fuss no bother thing. Rain was in the forecast for early evening. Nothing happened. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. I hope to get some work done on the house. I found a rather large box and have no idea what is in it. It will be like Chanukah in July. LOL. Yes, I did do some shopping at Amazon. Bought light bulbs. Sorely needed. Saw a small crockpot that is a plug in and thought it was a good idea and then changed my mind when I realized it was on the small size. There was another model that looked good. I will sleep on it tonight. It could come in handy while traveling (if we ever get to that point), and awesome for reheating a meal in the room. I was thinking it could hold my winter melon soup and some other items as well. Nothing like a home cooked meal from time to time.

Think I will now sit back and relax. May play a game or two in the Arcade. Have a great evening and try to stay cool, It’s on the cloudy side here. No stars or moon seen.

I took Poppy out extra early you will not believe what I saw yesterday right in front of my
house there was a lady walking her huge dog and that dog had the cutest dog shoes
I have ever seen she was smart to put shoes on the dog because the pavement is hot.

Poppy has a cute pair I put on him when it is super hot like this even in the back yard. 😎✨

Sheba, I love watching people walking or hiking with their dogs and seeing how much they love them. Those little booties sound so adorable.
I have seen the warnings about the heat on pavement burning paws.
It makes me laugh when the dogs stop so we hikers can say hello and pet them. Some people bring treats. I never know if people want me to pet the dog or if they are training the dog not to stop. Guess this is a dog area.
We were hot today and I hiked early to attempt to go somewhere at 5pm but things came up and I didn’t get there, then I sort of napped since I am still a tad off with a slight cold or something,

Hi in hades🔥. We are very warm today and tomorrow but don’t think as hot as you. Upper 80s rest of the week. Staying inside with the A/C. Have some errands to run in the morning. Need to stop and see mom and sis by the end of the week. Mom has a picnic at a country club on Sunday so sis is taking her to get her nails done.💅

Fighting Against Our Gifts

Continually fighting against your gifts may bring about a louder knock at your door that you won’t welcome.

We often have a tendency to fight against using our natural gifts. Many stories of success start with an individual who is ignoring the call of his or her inborn abilities. There are many possible reasons for this resistance, from fear that the calling will be too difficult to a disbelief in the very work one is being asked to do. We may feel too small, too distracted by other people’s ideas about what we should do, or too uninformed. Whatever the case, the resistance to actualizing ourselves has very concrete consequences, and many of us have been called out of hiding by an illness or a twist of fate that unequivocally dismantled our resistance. In other words, the universe knocks, and if we don’t answer, it knocks louder.

For example, if you are meant to be a healer and are trying to be a lawyer, you may have trouble getting or keeping a job. This doesn’t mean that you can’t still be a lawyer, but perhaps integrating your gifts into your work is what is calling you. On the other hand, you may simply feel an underlying anxiety that you are not on the right path. Pay attention to this feeling, and ask for guidance from the universe, being open to all its communications, from subtle internal yearnings to powerful dreams. As you begin to risk opening the door to your natural gifts, your life situation may shift in a powerful way. However, you may find that small steps in the right direction, such as taking a class or setting aside one night a week to paint or write is enough for now.

The first step on the journey to our calling in life is to listen to our internal voice and respond to the universe knocking at the door. As we do, the symptoms and anxieties that have haunted us will fade into the background, replaced by opportunities, both big and small, to open the door to what we are truly here to do. AMEN! ✨

On the way to rehab I picked up a sausage and pepper pizza along with an antipasto salad. The salad is enough to feed a small army. Too much food. It’s a good thing I did this because I found hubby shaking all over. He had not eaten anything all day. He could barely hold on to the pizza. Why the nurses didn’t give him something to drink and to nibble is anyone’s guess. He had no water, yet there was unopened soda on top of the dresser. There were cookies on the night- stand, yet no one thought of opening the cellophane. This is something I do not worry about during the week. Administration will get an ear full on Monday. There is no rhyme or reason for this to continually occur. Long story short, he loved the pizza and after a couple of hours there was no more shaking. I also brought strawberries, blueberries and grapes which he ate. Before leaving, I put everything into a bag and left them on the tray table. I surmise the nurses will throw these away even though they were purchased the day prior at Costco.

On the way to see hubby today will make a brief stop at our favorite Asian takeout. I may also pickup some ice cream from Culvers. Or, may go without culvers and go directly from take out to rehab. Culvers is only two miles from the rehab, so going out later is no big deal.

Just heard that one of my favorite stores is going out of business. Christmas Tree Shops is best known on Cape Cod where they began many years ago. One of my favorite places to stop when the traffic was heavy, was the Windmill at Sagamore Bridge. This one and the one in Falmouth were closed recently. A husband and wife team on Cape started their business in Yarmouth, Ma.. A small building with a barn and very little parking. But, it wasn’t the buying that got me there, but rather the hometown feel. There were no strangers, only friends. These stores all felt like home and the people who worked there became like family to their customers. The couple sold their business to Bed,Bath and Beyond to an all cash deal of 200k., Though they had children, none of them wanted to work seven days/wk.. Just about a year ago, BBB sold the business to another Ma. couple and just as recently as yesterday, found they are selling out.
I am now hoping that this once family business will again return. The husband and wife team is now a single. The husband past a few years ago with cancer. One of the sons did open a gift shop in the very first building in Yarmouth. So many changes since the pandemic, and to lose even one store on the Cape is extremely sad.

This thing with the shakes really bothers me. As I said earlier, there is no reason for this to occur. He is fine during the week, that is, Monday thru Wednesday, when the food is better and pretty good. On Thursday and Friday, the head nurse/unit mgr watches what is going on and actually does the same the rest of the week. However, comes Saturday and Sunday, they are short staffed. But that is not an excuse to take food away from a patient who needs to eat. The staff Monday thru Friday knows my hubby may not eat the meal right away and keep it there until he decides one way or another. Sometimes he enjoys the sweetness of a dessert prior to eating the meal. Other times he is not that hungry, but may want it later. I will be going in person to speak with someone. Tonight he was almost OK. Thank goodness I did stop for Asian takeout. At first he wasn’t hungry, but when I mentioned they had made his favorite appetizer, that was all that was needed for him to start digging in. About a hour before leaving I started cleaning. I emptied the tray of all food and water. Of course that is when he needed something for thirst. Mentioned that I had forewarned him and now he had to wait. I washed everything with soap and water and then dried it with paper towels. Before moving everything back, I rang for the nurses to help move him into a better position, They were there within seconds and had to change his bedding . Not an easy feat when one leg cannot move the way it should. Anyway, they brought in clean sheets and other bedding. They were able to move him into a better position and I was able to quench his thirst. Anyway, the tray was back in place and I put some fruit in front along with a couple of drinks (water & sugar free soda). Hopefully, I will make a trip to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow, return home and then proceed on to the rehab. Still need to stop at Lowe’s. And, yes, I will rest before tackling any project. Tomorrow is garbage day, but I had a huge load on Friday. May wait until Thursday.

I have no idea when hubby will be released from the rehab. Suffice to say that we have one more test for urology and this is only as difficult as they make it. Right now hubby cannot stand on the left leg and he needs to do this so he can have the procedure at the doctor’s office. The bed or whatever he needs to get up on ‘is 24″ from the floor. He needs to be able to get from the wheel chair to the bed. If he cannot do this then the appointment will be at the hospital in Tampa. Since the rehab does not drive that distance and because of the endless construction and tie ups, I will need to find someone to drive him to that appointment. I am checking with our health insurance to see if that is covered. I am also trying to see if someone can be with him to help him on to the table which I think will be the better process. I also do not know if surgery for the reconstruction of that left knee is available to him. Both knees are in pretty bad shape. That’s the hold up.

Hubby enjoyed the hotdog yesterday. He fell asleep before enjoying the ice cream which melted. I put a straw into the plastic dover and also a can of soda beside that. I had no way of contacting him once I left the rehab. He can dial out, but the phone is on top of his overhead light. For some reason he leaves it there. Once in a blue moon he will surprise me with a phone call. Up until 7pm I can call and be connected. After that the nurses and aides resort to their cell.

Today I am in the mood for an antipasto salad and pizza. I will order both as I leave and it should be ready by the time I get to the new restaurant. Hubby enjoyed their hot pastrami sandwich. The way his eyes lit up when he took that first bite says it all. Well, I will now get a move on. Currently in work clothes so need to change and then be on my way. Hope you all have a great evening and I hope your daughter had a great birthday a few days ago.

No rain as yet today. There is a chance in the next couple of hours. I won’t be holding my breath. Have a great evening. And, Trivia was fun last night. It felt good to see everyone. Funny, yesterday was chocolate day and I forgot to bring in the boxes for the nurses. I will do so today.
The roommate looked better yesterday and seemed to be more talkative. Just hope he will be able to return home soon.

Good afternoon my friend. So happy you are feeling well.😊 Very nice day in the ‘burgh, temps and humidity are a little lower. Warming up again next week.🔥 Had a power outage for about an hour, glad it’s back on since the house was starting to feel stuffy.

Taylor Swift sold out both nights here back in June. It was estimated that over 400,000 people were in the area around the stadium for two nights. Lots of money made in restaurants, bars, hotels, etc., and many boats on the rivers. She also made a donation to the area food bank.👍💗 You can say she sure is a crowd pleaser.

Did some errands this morning and stopped and picked up Chinese so dinner is made!🥡 Hubs is golfing tomorrow probably between the rain drops. “Swift” hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Good evening beautiful evening here in OZ over the Stateline is where Taylor Swift she is
playing in Patrick Mahomes Stadium. Taylor is in her second night and what a crowd.

My goodness every hotel and great place to eat is packed. Taylor has plenty of fans in
Kansas and they are all over the Stateline enjoying her right now. So much traffic this is
all the local news is reporting I am playing her songs and just having a good time with
hubby. 💕😘😎
