Conversation – 19

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is number 19 out of the
series. I created and started this thread nearly 10 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe. 🌹✨😎

Good afternoon in Florida. I hope you and hubby are cooler today. ✨😎
OZ had just a brief shower yesterday enough to water the grass and flowers. 😎✨We are still in the dog days of summer. 😎✨Hey hubs and I went to our favorite
Italian Restaurant for Lasagna Day which was yesterday. Xango it was too hot for
me to turn on the oven and it was nice that our whole meal was half off. ✨🌹I am glad to see you back on your feet so it seems. 🌹 Enjoy your day and a slice
of Cheese Cake. LOL! One slice is all it takes. 💕💕

@Sheba 🌺🌺🌺
Hello Sheba, I hope you had a beautiful Sunday.
So good you and your hubby had a date out enjoying yourselves with a good meal.
We had some rain, just enough to get things wet this heat is to much.Made chicken broth this afternoon. I didn’t have anymore in the freezer, in my cooking I use it often.
Hubby is off tomorrow, Monday. He has some tests to do in the morning. And I had some appointments in the afternoon. For the rest of the week, he will work from home. That’s a beautiful piece of cheesecake, delicious 😋.
Have a great Monday Sheba.
Take care 🌹 -

Really nice day, windows open, upper 70’s. I even turned the oven on and baked some chops. Looks like a nice week coming up. Mom and sis going to the Barbie movie on Tuesday. Sis is a big collector and buys/sells dolls constantly. Not my thing.😕
Hope Oz is cooling off. Hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Heartwarming story – especially for Simon and Garfunkel lovers like me . . . . . “Hello darkness, my old friend…” Everybody knows the iconic Simon & Garfunkel song, but do you know the amazing story behind the first line of The Sounds of Silence?
It began 62 years ago, when Arthur “Art” Garfunkel, a Jewish kid from Queens, enrolled in Columbia University. During freshman orientation, Art met a student from Buffalo named Sandy Greenberg, and they immediately bonded over their shared passion for literature and music. Art and Sandy became roommates and best friends. With the idealism of youth, they promised to be there for each other no matter what.
Soon after starting college, Sandy was struck by tragedy. His vision became blurry and although doctors diagnosed it as temporary conjunctivitis, the problem grew worse. Finally after seeing a specialist, Sandy received the devastating news that severe glaucoma was destroying his optic nerves. The young man with such a bright future would soon be completely blind.
Sandy was devastated and fell into a deep depression. He gave up his dream of becoming a lawyer and moved back to Buffalo, where he worried about being a burden to his financially-struggling family. Consumed with shame and fear, Sandy cut off contact with his old friends, refusing to answer letters or return phone calls. Then suddenly, to Sandy’s shock, his buddy Art showed up at the front door. He was not going to allow his best friend to give up on life, so he bought a ticket and flew up to Buffalo unannounced. Art convinced Sandy to give college another go, and promised that he would be right by his side to make sure he didn’t fall – literally or figuratively.
Art kept his promise, faithfully escorting Sandy around campus and effectively serving as his eyes. It was important to Art that even though Sandy had been plunged into a world of darkness, he should never feel alone. Art actually started calling himself “Darkness” to demonstrate his empathy with his friend. He’d say things like, “Darkness is going to read to you now.” Art organized his life around helping Sandy. One day, Art was guiding Sandy through crowded Grand Central Station when he suddenly said he had to go and left his friend alone and petrified. Sandy stumbled, bumped into people, and fell, cutting a gash in his shin. After a couple of hellish hours, Sandy finally got on the right subway train. After exiting the station at 116th street, Sandy bumped into someone who quickly apologized – and Sandy immediately recognized Art’s voice! Turned out his trusty friend had followed him the whole way home, making sure he was safe and giving him the priceless gift of independence. Sandy later said, “That moment was the spark that caused me to live a completely different life, without fear, without doubt. For that I am tremendously grateful to my friend.”
Sandy graduated from Columbia and then earned graduate degrees at Harvard and Oxford. He married his high school sweetheart and became an extremely successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.
While at Oxford, Sandy got a call from Art. This time Art was the one who needed help. He’d formed a folk rock duo with his high school pal Paul Simon, and they desperately needed $400 to record their first album. Sandy and his wife Sue had literally $404 in their bank account, but without hesitation Sandy gave his old friend what he needed.
Art and Paul’s first album was not a success, but one of the songs, The Sounds of Silence, became a #1 hit a year later. The opening line echoed the way Sandy always greeted Art. Simon & Garfunkel went on to become one of the most beloved musical acts in history.
The two Columbia graduates, each of whom has added so much to the world in his own way, are still best friends. Art Garfunkel said that when he became friends with Sandy, “my real life emerged. I became a better guy in my own eyes, and began to see who I was – somebody who gives to a friend.” Sandy describes himself as “the luckiest man in the world.”
Adapted from Sandy Greenberg’s memoir: “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: How Daring Dreams and Unyielding Friendship Turned One Man’s Blindness into an Extraordinary Vision for Life.”

Words Are Energy
Each word we speak has a life of its own, a vibratory signature that creates waves into the expanse of the universe.
When we speak or write, we use words to carry our meaning, as well as energy. We may be speaking to our baby, our boss, or to an audience of 500 people. We may be writing a love letter, a work-related memo, or an entry in our own diary. Whatever the case, each word we use has a life of its own, a vibratory signature that creates waves in the same way that a note of music creates waves. And like musical notes, our words live in communities of other words and change in relation to the words that surround them. When we are conscious of the energy behind our words, we become capable of making beautiful music in the world. If we are unconscious of the power of words, we run the risk of creating a noisy disturbance.
Some of us know this instinctively, while others come to this understanding slowly. Most of us, though, speak without thinking at least some of the time, blurting out our feelings and thoughts without much regard for the words we choose to express them. When we remind ourselves that our words have an impact on the world at the level of energy, we may want to be more aware of our use of language.
A fun way to increase our sensitivity to the power of words is to simply make a list of our favorite words and notice the energy they contain. We can write them down and post them where we can see them, or we can speak them, feeling how they reverberate in the air around us. This is like learning to consciously play an instrument that we have been playing unconsciously for most of our lives, and the effect can be startling and delightful. As we grow more comfortable and confident playing the instrument of language, we will begin to compose beautiful messages, creating positive energy every time we write or speak.

Good afternoon in Florida. Did you have fun in Trivia last night? It was interesting.
Hey another day for anything Chocolate and cold. 😎✨I am doing small projects here and there with hubs today. Oz is still in triple digits.
Xango the snow sounds very cool and refreshing. 💕✨I would so enjoy the pics
your friend sends you.
Have a nice weekend with your husband I think we all are having a nice salad during these
dog days of summer. ✨😎 -
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. 😎✨Oodie you did a nice job of hosting
Trivia from the rehab center well done. 🌹I wonder if we will hear from FBN135? Oodie there is a lot missing from the general HSN
Community.I don’t like how you found your husband yesterday that is not good. Did he have any
sunburns that you noticed? This is concerning I am so glad you are there everyday
when possible. I am with you on having him come home soon after he is able to.Oodie get some rest yourself you have three homes to take care of and then some.
I would treat myself to something good be it food or anything else. ✨🌹
-
I stayed longer than planned yesterday. I was fuming on how I found hubby and how he looked. It would have been very traumatic if I had stayed home. He was somewhat delirious for a few hours Kept thinking someone was at the door to his room. The door was opened. No one there. Later, when I was about to go home, he wanted to go to the living room. It is actually the library and TV room. So I stayed watching the wrestling matches which I do not enjoy. One thing I have to say is that those guys are great athletes and actors, but it’s not “my cup of tea.” He finally went back to his room when the evening nurse came to get him. He really wanted to stay in that area even though he was falling asleep in the “chair.” It’s when I said I would return with him that he gave the OK. He fell asleep as soon as I covered him up for the night.
I have no idea what to bring tonight. I know he would like ice cream. Guess I will make a stop at Culver’s. They have a nice fudge and the ice cream is made daily. And speaking of ice cream, that new chocolate one from Turkey Hill sounds amazing. We have only two supermarkets in Bradenton, Winn Dixie and Publix where the ice cream is almost double the price of the Northeast and rarely goes on sale. I do not enjoy Walmart, yet that may be the best bet.
The sky in the East is quite dark. Probably means some rain for someone, but probably won’t reach us. This is why xango’s back went and my left ankle is giving me problems. Hubby’s back was hurting yesterday, yet he didn’t want a pillow or meds or to be in bed. Because I left so late, the night nurse phoned me at home to make sure I got there safely. I phoned him this morning. He had already contacted the sheriff’s office to make sure my car was in the driveway and I wasn’t in it.
Gees, the sun is out. What did I tell you just moments ago. It probably went North. Guess it is safe to hop into a shower. Hope you have a good afternoon. Don’t forget those sinus meds to offset the headache later.
-
Thinking of you tonight please get some much needed rest. My sinus are fine tonight.
Today was Pasta Day so hubby and I went out to our favorite Italian restaurant.Been a hot but nice day. I hope you get some much needed rain.

-
Good morning in S. California and I hope you like your Heidi Daus Necklace. 💕🌹😎
Taci I do buy her pieces often and most are on sale on her site or HSN. 💕🌹I always wear my hair up and sometimes with a big straw hat when I am working outdoors.
I have to put Poppy little shoes on when we go for walks during certain times.I remember when your son had that incident with his bike. I have a huge kit in the house
that has come in handy.
Oz is in triple digits and this will not let up soon.
I will wish you Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶I think you know I love doing that. 💕😎
-
Sheba, Poppy in the little shoes sounds adorable. Your hair sounds lovely in a bun.
I don’t straighten my hair more than a few times a month because I don’t want to damage it. Some people do this every day. According to my hair dresser it can cause breakage in some.
You know all this already given your background.
The necklace arrived, light and easy to wear. Would love her to re-stock them.
The bunnies have been on the trails. So cute. -
Good afternoon in the ‘burgh. Hey just relax and have a good day. 😘✨
Let me know if your family made it back home safely. 💕🌹Here is to cooler days and I can’t wait. 🌹😎
Sending cool vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas. ✨😘

-
Everyone on their way home after a good week. Storms last night into the morning so got a good dose of rain.⛈ Temps slowly falling and looks like I will be able to turn the A/C off and open some windows tomorrow, yay!
I think I will crash the rest of the weekend. Getting too old to be running to parks and events with these young ones, especially in the heat.🔥 But I did enjoy the restaurants and cookouts, think I gained ten pounds.🍔🌭🍕🍨😣 And that worked out well for my friend, didn’t do much cooking.
On my way to relax in front of the TV. It will most likely be an early night.🤗💖 Still having problems with the recaptcha???😝😫
-
Good morning in California Kitten please stay cool and safe. Thinking of you always. 😘✨🌹😎

Trivia of Elizabeth Taylor
*Taylor had “Violet” eyes and a double set of eyelashes.Taylor’s eyes are typically credited as violet, they were more likely a deep blue with an uncommon amount of melanin in the irises, which made them appear violet when she wore specific colors. This inspired her to often wear black eyeliner with blue, purple, or dark brown eyeshadow to bring out her trademark color. When she was filming Lassie Come Home (1943) at the age of 9, Taylor was accused of wearing too much mascara, and when production members tried to clean it off, they realized the dark shade was her own eyelashes. As Taylor’s Lassie co-star Roddy McDowall remembered, “Who has double eyelashes except a girl who was absolutely born to be on the big screen?”.
*In her early career, MGM studio wanted to make sure she looked and was named a star. First, they had two baby teeth pulled out, then ensured she wore braces to correct her teeth. Although the studio wished to shape her eyebrows, dye her hair, and give her a new screen name, Virginia, both Taylor and her mother expressly refused.
*She was a close friend of Montgomery Clift until his death in 1966. They met for the first time when Paramount decided that she had to accompany him to the premiere of The Heiress (1949) because they were both to star in the upcoming A Place in the Sun (1951). They liked each other right away. Clift used to call her “Bessie Mae”. When he had a car accident a few years later that disfigured him, he had just left a party at Liz’s house. It was she who found him first, got into the wreck and removed some teeth from his throat that threatened to choke him.According to biographer Charles Casillo, Taylor never loved any of the many men she bedded and married — including even Richard Burton — as much as she loved Clift. Even Burton knew it, once telling ‘Monty’: ‘She likes me, but she loves you’.
*First actress to earn $1,000,000 for a movie role (in Cleopatra (1963)).
*Elizabeth Taylor starred in over 50 featured films and was rated one of the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema. According to rankings movie, Taylor’s top five films are Butterfield 8, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Cleopatra, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Father of the Bride.
*She was the first celebrity to create her own fragrance.Taylor stated that she dreamed of having her own perfume 25 years before she really did it. She was the first celebrity to create her own perfume line in 1987, and she called the perfume “Passion.” A few years later, in 1991, she came up with another line known as “White Diamonds,” in collaboration with Elizabeth Srden, Inc. Her perfumes are still one of the most popular with making a $1 billion revenue worldwide.
*Along with Julie Andrews, she was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II on New Year’s Eve, 1999.

NATIONAL MILK CHOCOLATE DAY | July 28
On July 28th dive into the ever-popular National Milk Chocolate Day. When it comes to chocolate, this sweet easily pleases.MilkChocolateDay
On average, we recognize three chocolate holidays a month. Interestingly, July celebrates chocolate as often as February.Solid chocolate, when combined with either powdered, liquid or condensed milk, is known as milk chocolate. While candy bar makers use milk chocolate to make their most popular candy bars, the treat isn’t the healthiest of the chocolates. Dark chocolate takes home the honors for nutrition. With added sugar and fat, milk chocolate packs on the calories. Add to that, milk chocolate’s popularity in baked goods, and the calorie count keeps going up. Don’t forget, we add it to specialty coffee drinks and other beverages, too.
In fact, we’ve been adding milk to chocolate beverages since the mid-17th century. But, in 1875 Daniel Peter invented milk chocolate by mixing a powdered milk developed by Henri Nestlé with the liquor. It’s been milk chocolate bliss ever since.
Since the days are heating up, melt that chocolate down. Drizzle it on some ice cream or mix it into some popcorn. Nobody said this holiday would be difficult.

Good day in Florida how are you feeling today? I do hope that pain is gone.
Still I would take it easy for a few more days. I pray for rain all over the States.I love hearing about the snow from your family and friends. So cool. 😎✨
If OZ had an afternoon of snow I would welcome it. 💕
Hey Milk Chocolate is something we all can enjoy just one piece will not hurt you. 😘✨
-
@Sheba🌺🌺🌺🌺
Hello Sheba, it’s Friday and the weekend 😎 I hope you get some rain to cool oof a bit.
Lately all we get is dark skies, rumbles and few drops. We need a good down pour.Ecuador has many Volcanoes, my friend lives about an hour and a half from one of the many Volcanoes in that country. He often sends pictures, it’s very pretty with snow covered top.
Milk chocolate is my favorite. I don’t like dark chocolate, I don’t like the taste and it gives me heartburn. Aldi’s has the best milk chocolate from Germany. We always get lots and keep it handy for a fast dessert.
Making a large salad and grilled chicken for dinner today 😋
Here’s wishing you, your hubby and Poppy a great and cool weekend 😎
Take care Sheba 🌹 -
Good day on the Gulf Coast of Florida. ✨😘😎Oodie we are in the triple digits already.

Hey get your beauty rest Trivia tonight and it will be a hot one.
Oodie let me know how your husband is doing today.

I have family members whose birthdays are coming up and they are gone way too
soon so they are on my heart. 💕🌹 -
Hi and good afternoon. I am in rehab and been here since 4:20pm. Picked up a pizza and grinder. Put my things down in his room and then went looking. He was outside with the sun hitting his head. The wheelchair was stuck in a rut and it took some doing to get him out. I have no idea how long he was in the hot sun. No nurses were around. I brought him inside to an area that was cool before bringing him to his room. His body is having some problems differentiating from hot to cool. I am makIng him drink loads of liquids. Otherwise we are both ok.
That KS for the info on chocolate. Find me a Hershey bar and I will be a happy person. On the chocolate milk, been using Aldi’s. Add ice cream and soda and I’m good to go. Tomorrow is chicken wing day. Tons of specials and a few freebies.
Trivia is all set. Hope to see everyone .
-
Good morning in S. California how are you today? OZ is in triple digits as I type this
note to you. 😎🌹✨It’s National Milk Chocolate Day I might have some chocolate milk or shake later
today.Hey Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

-
Sheba, Yum, what a great day! National Chocolate Day! Agree with those who say Aldi has some good chocolate selections. I usually pick up their 70% dark chocolate bars and one or 2 others or the others in my house.
Darn, I didn’t make it back in time to try and join trivia. Hope you all had fun.
My HD initial necklace arrives tomorrow.
Hope Oodie has her necklace by now.
On the hiking stuff, I also have an emergency kit in the car. It’s from CVS. I has one in the house, but my son snagged it after a Mtn Biking fall. Glad that was all he needed.
Have a great evening. -
Good day in the ‘burgh. 😎🌹✨I know it may be warm there it certainly is for OZ.
Enjoy this day as your family goes back to Atlanta. 💕Perhaps you can enjoy a piece of chocolate. LOL! 💕✨
Sending cool vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas. ✨💕😘
I am missing @71flowerchild and New Mexico right about now. ✨🌹

-
I don’t think there is ever a day my house doesn’t have chocolate and if there is it’s a mistake. Hubs and I both love it.🍫
Pretty sure today was the hottest day of the year so far.🔥 We are getting a few storms right now and into the morning, yay. Family staying one more day. Feeling pretty tired today from the heat and running around all week.🏃♀️ Time for bed.😴 Hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Heart Meditation
Opening our hearts to another person’s suffering is a beautiful act of empathy that ultimately helps heal us all.
It is not easy to have an open heart in a world that offers us a full spectrum of emotional experiences. This life gives us much joy, love, and light, but it also shows us a fair amount of pain, sadness, and suffering. When our hearts are open, we take everything into ourselves, and we are deeply affected by what we see. We do not hold ourselves separate from the pain of others. In addition, our own personal disappointments may begin to take their toll. We may feel small, alone, and overwhelmed. Most of us may feel like we are not up to the task of living with our hearts open, and we might begin to close down, little by little, so that we can get through our days without having to feel too much.
One thing that can help us turn this situation around is an awareness of the power of empathy. To open our hearts to another person’s suffering is a revolutionary act that has energetic implications. Many experiments with meditation have proven that we can reach far beyond our own boundaries and heal others when our hearts are open. Heart meditations awaken this power and heal the person meditating as well as anyone who is the focus of the meditation.
You may want to experiment with this the next time you see or hear something painful. Instead of shuttering your emotions, resolve to hold your feelings in your heart. Tap into the divine energy of universal love that resides in your heart. This energy makes you powerful, for it is your protection that will transmute the pain of others. Breathe deeply, and let yourself feel the pain of the situation, knowing that your heart is big and strong enough to hold it. As you breathe, visualize healing light emanating from your heart and touching all that are suffering. You will heal your heart in the process. AMEN! ✨🌹

Part of Your World – Little Mermaid
Maybe he’s right
Maybe there is something the matter with me
I just don’t see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad
Look at this stuff
Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you’d think
Sure, she’s got everything
I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I’ve got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see ’em dancin’
Walking around on those, what do you call ’em?
Oh, feet
Flippin’ your fins, you don’t get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a, what’s that word again?
Street
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin’ free, wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet’cha on land they understand
Bet they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women, sick of swimmin’
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask ’em my questions and get some answers
What’s a fire and why does it, what’s the word?
Burn?
When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world

Good Afternoon in Sunny Florida. 😎🌹✨Xango I saw Oodiebom’s suggestion for your
back pain and I hope this helps in some way. ✨Hey OZ is steaming hot period. Triple digits I am putting extra water out for the critters I even
walk across the street where some are known to be. The neighbor that lives there is my friend
the professor and she is in the Ozarks enjoying her cabin there. ✨ I put a big bowl of
water out and when I came to retrieve it the bowl was empty. So today I took a bigger
bowl. 😎Wishing you a pain-free day and just do what you can I would just rest. 🌹

@Sheba🌺🌺🌺
Hello Sheba, it’s another hot day, enough though it’s been cloudy for most of the day.
Funny thing is, my friend who lives in Ecuador, sent me pictures snow ❄️ in the area he lives. Brazil is also having very cold days.Hubby stopped by Publix and got fried fish and chicken strips. I made red lentils pasta and vegetables.

I am sure I will long for a hot day like this when Oz is freezing.
Snow in all those places holy smokes I am missing out. 😘
We do not have a Publix in Kansas. I don’t know what that is except it is a store.
I am so glad you are feeling better. ✨

-
I left you another note in yesterday’s thread. Please be careful. Hubby had a similar problem last month. Do not know what caused it, as last month he was in bed most of the time. Hubby has had back problems since the day we met. Sometimes the pain so unbearable he had to crawl on all fours to get around. However, he did see an orthopedist and he ordered a back brace for him. This physician was also a surgeon and did not recommend surgery. He was afraid that surgery would be worse. Thankfully, he followed this doctor’s advice. Take it easy. When the weather changes, you should be feeling better.

@oodiebom🏝🏝🏝
Hi, hope you are trying to stay somewhat cool in this heat.
I read your posts, thank you for the information.
There’s much I can’t do, due to my hip. Usually the back pain I always get would be a lower back pain. This one was upper back, on both sides. Like having someone grabbing your upper back on both sides. Good thing the severe pain is now is just sore. The farmers market you go to sounds marvelous. I am enjoying all the Summer fruit I can get my hands on. The cherries and chreey-plums are so delicious. I like to eat lots of fruit of my meals. Which pretty much consists of chicken, fish and fruit. A nice piece of grilled chicken or roast in the oven and a large mango or papaya it’s a great meal for me.
Take care Oodiebom 🏝🏝🏝🏝 -
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida and may this day finds you doing well. 😎✨
Please be careful if you are out and about the heat is insane. Oz is very warm I think every
state is warm some warmer than others. Shizzle! These are the dog days of summer.I hope all is going alright with your husband and you are able to get some answers
for his procedure in Tampa. Oodie I am wishing you all the luck. How is the ankle today? I like your cart is it a lifesaver. Oodie great advice you gave
Xango concerning her back pain. Please stay cool and hydrated.
-
I am getting ready to stop at Costco. I need a few things and then some. I met with the person who does our landscaping and asked for two bushes to be taken down. One is at the foot of our driveway and needs to be cut down every other month so I can see the street. The other one has a tree growing inside that the birds must have produced. If I take the tree out, there goes the shrub. I asked as a replacement: an azalea, or a butterfly plant, or a snowball. He and his crew will be out sometime next week to take care of things.
I will try to write more later. Meanwhile, glad you are looking out for the critters. I think a Kiddy pool would be great for the critters while the temps are in triple digits. Though the temps remain in the 90s in Florida, the humidity brings the temps up and the reality is that we are in triple digits as well. We have had some rain, but not enough to make a dent in the drought situation. We are cloudy today with a chance of rain. Humidity is low.
-
We are still warm as I type this I am going in for a shower. I hope you made all
your stops today I am sure your husband was excited to see you I know I would be. 🌹Please get some rest as you know what tomorrow is. ✨✨

-
Good afternoon in S. California. I read your post from last night and I meant to ask you
yesterday what do you take on your hikes. I think you everything you need for an emergency.
Taci you may also have enough supplies if someone else have a urgent emergency. 😎I am sure you will find a nice schedule for hiking glad there are others out hiking as well.
If you see the little critters just keep it moving. ✨
Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶

Keep hydrated and refreshed. 😎✨

Good day in the beautiful ‘burgh. I know you are having a nice time with the family. 💕😘
I am sure your neighbor is very happy to have a helping hand during her recovery.
I think it’s very nice of you. ✨Well it’s National Refreshments Day so you know what is in order. 💕😎😘
Blowing cool vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas. ✨🌹

Leading by Example
Leading by example is inspiring, not only for those whom you lead but also for yourself.
We all know from experience that we can’t change other people, yet most of us have a tendency to try. This is because we naturally feel the need to do something to change situations that we find troubling. It often doesn’t occur to us that the best way to create change is not to try to convince others to change but to change ourselves. When we make adjustments from within, we become role models for others, and leading by example is much more inspiring than a lecture or an argument.
We sometimes look outside ourselves for what’s wrong with the world, but the outside world is really just a mirror reflecting us back to ourselves. When we encounter negativity — anger or fear — we empower ourselves by looking for its roots inside of ourselves.
For example, if you have a friend who is unreliable, observe yourself and notice if there are ways in which you are unreliable. You may be surprised to discover that you have your own struggles with this issue. Once you own the issue yourself, you can begin to work for change within you. This will also enable you to have more compassion for your friend. At the very least, as you strive to become more reliable, you will become more of the person you want to be. In the best-case scenario, you will be an inspiration to others.
You can apply the same method to larger issues. For example, if there is something you see in the larger world that you would like to change — let’s say, greed — try taking responsibility for changing it in yourself. Instead of being angry with those you see as greedy, seek out the roots of your own greed and come to terms with your power to transform it. This may be the best way to lead the world toward greater moderation and generosity. AMEN! ✨✨

Happy Birthday to Mrs. David Bowie. 🌹🌹

HSN IMAN Happy Birthday

Today is model/actress Iman’s 68th birthday (July 25, 1955). She was married to singer/musician David Bowie from 1992 until his death in 2016. Iman first featured in the 1979 British film The Human Factor, and had a bit part in the 1985 Oscar-winning film Out of Africa starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. She then portrayed Nina Beka in the 1987 thriller No Way Out with Kevin Costner, and Hedy in the Michael Caine comedy Surrender the same year. She worked on several film productions. Among them were Lies of the Twins and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, where she played a shapeshifting alien. In 1991, she appeared in The Linguini Incident opposite her then-fiancé David Bowie. She had a smaller part in the 1991 comedy House Party 2 and in the 1994 comedy/romance film Exit to Eden. Iman appeared in two episodes of Miami Vice, playing Dakotah in Back in the World (1985) and Lois Blyth in Love at First Sight (1988). She also had a guest role as Mrs. Montgomery on The Cosby Show (1985). In 1988, she appeared as Marie Babineaux in an episode of In the Heat of the Night. In the mid-2000s, Iman spent two years as the host of Bravo TV’s fashion-themed show, Project Runway Canada. In November 2010, along with her friend and colleague, designer Isaac Mizrahi, Iman began hosting the second season of The Fashion Show. Bravo started the series to replace its former hit Project Runway that has now moved to the Lifetime network.

Shout Out To All The Heidi Girls. 😎✨

I like this necklace. However I think if Heidi could make a similar one with seashells, how awesome that would be. Just a thought.
-
I think that is a great idea perhaps we can pass that message on to her. 😎✨
-
Good afternoon in Florida I am thinking of you and I hope you are feeling better with
no pain. 🌹Hang in there my friend. ✨
-
@Sheba🌺🌺🌺🌺
Hello Sheba, hope you are keeping yourself and Poppy cool.
It’s so hot everywhere, the poor plants outside are just so thirsty. Unfortunately they will have to wait for rain.
My back pain today is somewhat better.
It’s about a little after 3PM, and I need to start dinner for hubby. Shrimp is the fastest thing to make. So, that’s on the menu 😋
Take care Sheba 🌹 -
Good evening OZ had some good rain but we now have triple digits and I am typing this
at 9:46 p.m. this will continue for days. ✨Poppy will go for a run in our large backyard we have a special spot for him and he knows
exactly where it is. 😎I hope you are feeling better try not to overdo any lifting I am sure you know that.
The plants can wait. I pray for rain all over as well as cooler weather.
-
Backaches are no fun. Try putting a pillow behind the lower back and also behind both knees. This may help. Weather could be the culprit. And of course, the humidity doesn’t help. Meanwhile stay off your feet as much as you can. Watch some TV and listen to relaxing music in the background. Hope you will be feeling better soon.
-
@oodiebom 🌳🌳🌳
I hope this Wednesday finds you well.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will try them, the pain has somewhat better today.
Here’s hoping you get to bring your hubby home soon.
Have a good rest of the week.
And take care of yourself. -
Hi again. Here’s something that actually helped me. Find a chair that is stable. With both hands hold on to the back of the chair and then start some stretching exercises. I sometimes do lunges. When out and about I do the same exercises using the car door, just be sure you don’t get too close to the edge. You do not want the door to slam on your hand or fingers. I sometimes pop the lid to the trunk and put my hands on the rug. It may look funny, but those stretches do help. You need to exercise the muscles to take the edge off. I still get backaches, but not as strong. Just need to be careful when out and about. Also, shoes with a good arch support helps as well.
-
Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Oodie how are you doing?
I don’t know if I missed a post or if a post went poof. I had that happen today
and I try to always make sure what I write is posted. I go at a fast pace so most of
the time it is on me. ✨✨Oodie let me know how things are going. OZ had a nice thunderstorm this morning.
We are warming up right about now. 😎
-
Oodie, maybe it’s time to go to the urologist’s office 1st in person and ask the Dr/ directly. No in-between staff. Thanks for the concern about safety and hiking. You would laugh if you saw what I pack in my backpack. Cold water bottle 24oz, a knife, a small flashlight, a whistle, paper towels, antibiotic cream, bandaids, readers, phone, wallet, etc… It’s ridiculous for an hour or 2 hike. It helps me feel prepared though.
Years back, if I saw a snake it would be the last time hiking, but now it’s just a part of the area, along with coyotes, bunnies, and lots of birds. You’re probably right about the weather.Has your new necklace arrived?
-
Just made another phone call to Urology. I have no idea what the problem is, but so far no appointment. It shouldn’t take this long to come up with a day, date and time. There is no way that I would have hubby go to Tampa when the construction makes a 45 minute drive one that lasts two hours or more. I am actually surprised. They know that hubby will need a full replacement on both knees and that t he rehab does have people that can help hubby on and off the table/bed. It’s a catch 22 and hubby is in the middle. I have a feeling that there may be a reason other than the one given.
I did make it to the Farmer’s Market yesterday. Their hot hot hot was fantastic. I even bought pineapple habanero salsa for me. Tried it just a few minutes ago and it’s superb. I also picked up salmon with the habanero sauce. I will have that for dinner tonight. I also picked up mango cheesecake. OH MY>……😃😃😃. I gave hubby a small piece and he loved it. Will bring it with me today. Bought the Italian Grinder and one with all meat.
As I entered the rehab yesterday, one of the aids mentioned that he ate a little dinner. It so happened that I had two ice packs with me on the “DBest.” I am beginning to feel like a St.Bernard with all this food. Hubby was glad to see me. I wonder why????? He finished the entire grinder. I left him with two apples and a bag full of red grapes. I had some of the grapes and they were so sweet and delicious. To think in a couple of weeks or less we will see the pluots. Summer is going by too fast.
My ankle is healing, finally. The swelling is almost gone and so is the pain. The temps and humidity didn’t help much. At least now I can walk without limping. At least for a bit.
Enjoy your walk tonight. Hope you will bathe in the moonlight.
-
Good evening say what about your ankle? I did not know it was that bad. I don’t like that.
How are you doing so much with a hurt ankle? Oodie you need a day off but still have an
eye on your husband. I think we will have a party when your husband is home and his medical
issues are addressed. I pray the medical office calls you with dates for his procedure.I feel he needs to get out of that Rehab. I also have a concerned for his trip to Tampa
they need to get the dates right so you can arrange the transport and help.Oodie I would have so much fun shopping in Florida especially where and how you shop.
I think Florida’s Fruit and food is some of the best. I would love to get my hands on one of those
grinders and I am sure my husband would like anything hot. ✨Please try to rest and stay cool some parts of Florida are very hot according to the national
news. Oodie it is hot all over I am about to jump in the shower and I use Korres and Perlier
as my bath products even at this hour we are in triple digits. Shizzle!

@Sheba
When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my parents sent me to an overnight camp for the summer. This was to relieve my grandparents for a few months. One of my favorite things to do was horse back riding. On one of the occasions, I was trotting in a ring when the horse behind me hit my horse in the leg. This triggered a full gallop. I was able to stay on for a time, but then the horse bucked and threw me and my left ankle got caught in the stirrup as I was thrown. The pain was unbearable, and I was carried to the infirmary. I was treated for a bad sprain. However, weeks later when I still had problems walking, I was taken to the nearest hospital for x-rays. It wasn’t a bad sprain, rather I had cracked the bone. The treatment would now require to actually break the bone and to reset it. My parents were beside themselves and decided to wait until summer camp was over. They took me to another specialist who said the same thing. However, I was able to walk on that leg and my parents decided to let things go. I was happy with that decision. However, that ankle gives me many “I wish I hads”and after fainting in the bathroom several weeks ago I began to think that having the surgery may actually help. The pain was very intense and the selling was around the ankle and toes. However, with soaking and wearing comfortable shoes, the swelling has gone down and I am able to walk without pain. I am still contemplating whether to have the surgery, but then the sulfite problem creeps in and consequently I get a bit jittery when I think about the anesthesia. So afraid of getting a reaction and not able to wake up.
-
Good morning in S. California here is to another good hike. 😎🌹😘
Wow three rattlers on your trail I so glad you went back home.
I have seen people run barefoot I would not recommend that. Taci it seems that
people forget glass, pet dander, and who knows what else is on the ground.I only walk barefoot on my outdoor patio and after I wash it down. ✨
Hey Happy Trails To You. 😎🎶 Oz had a nice thunderstorm today. ✨😘

-
Sheba, I hope you and hubs are doing ok today.
It was hot here so I organized things inside and hiked early evening. One of my neighbors wants to go with me…. last time this happened with another (different) neighbor she declined every time. Her excuses were her dog was sick, she had covid, her dog had covid etc…etc… haha
I laugh about it always because she always asked to go when I saw her. Don’t worry we are good. Honestly it’s quite easy to go when I want, not coordinate someone’s schedules, and just go. and it’s calm. There are people on the trails here and there so it is not that isolated if something happened.
Have a cool evening. -
I think those nasty critters like the cooler temps and that’s why you are seeing them on your hikes. I would probably find other areas that might be snake free or hiking earlier in the day may be a better time for you. I’m not a lover of reptiles so I know where you are coming from. This is why I take the bottled water out of the car at the rehab center. Please stay hydrated.
-
Good afternoon thanks for popping in I know you are having a busy time.
Lady your neighbor is lucky to have a friend like you. I have a cousin who
shoulder surgery and it is not a walk in the park.I hope you and the family have a lovely day. Lady your post on the dog post was hilarious.
I needed that laugh you have no idea how much.
Blowing cool vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas. 😘😎

AMEN! ✨✨

NATIONAL HOT FUDGE SUNDAE DAY | JULY 25
On July 25th, National Hot Fudge Sundae Day takes a turn representing National Ice Cream Month in delicious style. Feast on this tasty ice cream dessert that combines hot and cold with a cherry on top. Even more important to note, this dessert has been served since 1906.
Sundae History
While the oldest known record of an ice cream sundae is an Ithaca, NY advertisement, the originator of the dessert is still debated. The October 5, 1892 ad in the Ithaca Daily Journal spelled the ice cream treat with the conventional day of the week spelling – Sunday. However, Two Rivers, Wisconsin claims Druggist Edward Berners served the first ice cream sundae in 1881. According to the story, customer George Hallauer ordered an ice cream soda on a Sunday. Ordinances at the time prohibited the sale of ice cream sodas on the Sabbath. Even so, Berners came up with a compromise. He served the ice cream in a dish minus the soda.
Additionally, he topped it with chocolate syrup. Given the day, he called it a Sundae. One interesting catch – Berners was 18 at the time the story takes place.
Ithaca’s claim to the ice cream sundae takes place at Platt & Colt Pharmacy in 1892 where Reverend John M. Scott stops to order a bowl of ice cream. When Chester Platt, proprietor, began preparing the ice cream for his customer, he didn’t stop at just a couple of scoops of vanilla. Platt drizzled cherry syrup over the ice cream and topped them with a bright red, candied cherry. The dessert looked and tasted so delightful it required its own name. Since the day was Sunday, it was named for the day it was created. Ithaca also has historical evidence supporting the story, including an advertisement for a Cherry Sunday.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. ✨😎Enjoy the Farmers Market and I hope
you get some good habanero and mangos. I think I would love the Markets in Florida
you seem to have a nice variety of foods to pick from and I like the way it is set up. ✨Oodie how are you feeling? Oz is very warm this week good grief triple digits all week.
I would fill the tank in your Van to make sure you have enough gas you may need to turn

Good day in S. California and may this be a good day for a hike. ✨🌹
Yes I do have some plans in the works. Wish me well.Anything special for your day? I treat myself often with what I love so gifts
are not a big deal for me. Taci this time of year is bittersweet my husband’s
deceased brother birthday is today. Our SIL birthday is tomorrow and my father’s
passing is on a couple days from my day. So just bittersweet and right now I am
missing and thinking of them all. 💕✨🌹I took Mr. Poppy out early and we will go again later when it cools off.
I want to sing Happy Trails To You. 🎶🎶I wonder what you will see along the way
just no snakes.
-
Sheba, Wishing you well with your upcoming plans. Sounds exciting.
Very sorry about your husbands brother, and your Father’s passing. I’m sure you miss them year round but it’s tough on the anniv.
You will be disappointed with my hike then because I saw 3 rattlers. Started out late afternoon, but it was too hot and I drove back home. Went back out early in the evening. Nice cool breezes, and more people were out. Bikers, runners, hikers, all good company. Maybe you see this in Oz? Sometimes I see barefoot runners. I don’t understand this but hey if it works for them. I was always told to never go barefoot and wear shoes, meaning no sandals or flip flop type shoes, so that is my mentality. Even in the Yoga classes I tried; wouldn’t go barefoot. Yogi’s like the bare feet which is why i hike.🤣

Hey, hey, hey, have a few minutes to pop in to say happy, hot Tuesday.🖐🔥 Things going well with my friend. Me and a neighbor helping her after shoulder surgery since she can’t drive, lift, etc. SIL, niece, niece’s son and boyfriend here until Friday. Then things will calm down.
Hope all is well in Oz. Thinking of you and Mr. Twinkle Toes!🤗🐾💖
-
Shoelady, glad your friend is doing well after surgery!
-
Good evening shoelady you are a true friend. ✨🌹😎I love Twinkle Toes that is Mr. Poppy.
LOL! Poppy is doing fine we go walking morning and evening here in OZ.Hey enjoy this precious with your family.

Feeling Stuck
When we feel stuck, it can be helpful to let go of our resistance to the change trying to take place.
When we feel stuck in our lives, it’s important to take stock of what is going on and find out if there is something we are doing or not doing that is keeping us stuck. Sometimes the situation is out of our control, and we need to look within to find the patience to wait until things move forward again. Many times, though, we can find the source of our stagnation in our own hearts and minds. Sometimes we are clinging to old ideas about reality and we need to make adjustments that will bring us back in tune with life, so we can flow again. Sometimes we find that fear of change is what’s keeping us stuck, and we can resolve to find ways of facing that fear.
If introspection does not provide the answers we need, it can be helpful to ask those around you if they notice anything obvious that you might not be able to see. Remember to ask someone whom you can trust to be kind and sensitive as well as honest. Try to let go of your resistance and listen with an open mind, and remember that you are always the final judge of what you need.
In all this, be kind to yourself and remember that we all get stuck sometimes. Think of it as a part of your process, a necessary step on your journey, rather than as a problem that shouldn’t be happening. This can help to keep your frustration at bay and give you the space you need to take a deep breath and really figure out what’s going on. AMEN! ✨✨

Good evening Sheba, how’s everything 😊?
I am a bit under the weather. Woke up with my back in pain. Taking a deep breath and trying to move around makes it difficult. The pain is on both sides of the back, from top to bottom. I had this before, it comes and goes. But this time is very painful.
Didn’t cook today, just sandwiches and snacks for me. Hubby already has his cook cooked for the week.
Take care Sheba 🌹

Xango, hope your back feels better soon.

fridge. Still this is hard when it is hot.Thank you for posting just take it easy and let us know if you need some kind of
treatment.

Good afternoon on the Gulf Coast of Florida. ✨✨Whatever you do get your gas
I would hate to see you run out. Oodie how is your weather? Let me guess very warm.I am glad you got your A/C to work now is not the time for anything to go out.
I love the Heidi Daus Necklace you brought and Oodie wear it in good health.
Glad to hear your husband is getting stronger I know he wants to come home.Raining all morning in OZ and it was wonderful. 😎✨Let me know how things go today.

Oodie, Congratulations on your lovely necklace. The beads look so pretty as well.
Yes, saw your post. Thank you for checking up on me. I was referring to the ring.
Ir is gone and vanished. It’s ok. I ended up purchasing the initial necklace.
The Frog Prince necklace is lovely but too big for me.
My neck can only handle light necklaces.Sorry you are having so much trouble with a urology appt. Are they that busy? I have heard there are some Doctor shortages. Maybe it’s time to look for other options. Your hubs sounds like he is doing a bit better and sorry about his roommate. You handled that like a loving wife.
Take care. Btw, I always wonder how many miles you would log a day with a fit bit? You are always very active. -
Oh how I hate Mondays. Just got off the phone with Urology. I was on hold for almost 20 minutes. I do not know why getting an appointment for the bladder is taking so long. The rehab has people in the wings who can help hubby on and off the bed. Most of the help at rehab wear masks all day. Anyway, they will either contact me or the head nurse/unit mgr.
I do not know why Sam’s Club does not add more pumps. The lines would certainly move faster. I have had no problems with Costco. In and out and on my next adventure in no time. For the most part, after waiting so long, I probably had enough gas to drive to Costco. Just didn’t want to take any chances.
Hubby ate his ice cream and everything else went by the wayside. When I left he still had a Reuben and onion rings to feast upon and also the ice cream I couldn’t finish. I also made sure he had water on the tray table. I will write later.
It is very hot and humid. The temp is in the 90s and the humidity is up there as well. It may rain sometime this afternoon. I will not be holding my breath on this one. Not absolutely positive that it rained near our home. Rain is sporadic and does not always cover the entire area. Rain yesterday seemed to be between Costco and Carver’s. Going West towards Rehab, rain seemed to stop. There were no puddles in the driveway.

I hope you are getting some good sleep. I will check on you in the morning.
Stay cool turn that A/C on it is hot all over. I hope your husband had a very good day.

I’ve been home an hour and had to eat something first. I either eat with hubby or before I leave home. Anyway, I am a happy camper tonight. Around 8 pm hubby started feeling cold from the A/C. Said he wanted to go undercover to get warm, so I used the call button to contact the nurse’s station. The male nurse arrived within seconds and he could see hubby needed to get into bed. Hubby tried to get out of the wheelchair, but couldn’t. So he helped him on to the bed. From that point, hubby was able to move his legs on to the bed. Though he huffed and puffed following, it was great to see. It has been months since he was able to move both feet.
Tomorrow I am hoping to do some shopping at the Farmer’s Market. It is habanero and mango week. Everything is made fresh on the premises. I am thinking that your hubby would love to be here. They will have tons of samples to try. Love that there is no preservatives in their food.
I think I mentioned previously that I do not purchase the meats or fish at Aldi’s. That also goes for your regular markets and Walmart. Seems more and more businesses are using a plastic see through sealer on their packaging. If you read the label, you will notice that the item is good for two weeks on the shelf. This tells me that there is something in the packaging to keep the food fresh for that length of time. If you read the label, there are actually words that are not only difficult to spell, but hard to pronounce as well. These could be preservatives and for me, why take chances.
Hope you had a wonderful day. Good night.

Sheba, run? I had to stop from a distance and take a picture and then text it to my husband. By then the snake scurried off. I will run from anything hissing.
Went back today and only 1-2 ppl were out at that time.
Now I am tired as can be.Hubs and son feel better today.
Our Birthdays are coming up. I can’t believe how old I am. Yikes, maybe it’s time for some denial. I’m 27 in my head.
Hope you have some fun plans. -
So sorry about the ring. Since Heidi was on just a couple of days ago, the ring may still be seen but would say sold out. If you do see this, you can still put it into your favorites and hope someone returns it. Her jewelry is made so well, that I doubt it was returned for any workmanship, but rather size or a dislike. Also, some of her necklaces look heavy, but are not. But, I do understand where you are coming from. Definitely put the ring into favorites and if it is returned in your size then you can make the decision whether to purchase or not.

Good day in the ‘burgh enjoy your family time. Sending cool vibes to you and Jake’s Canvas.😘✨

Staying Grounded in a Big City or Busy World
For a more grounded life, choose not to get caught up in the fast-paced world around you.
1. Live simply and deliberately. By choosing not to get caught up in the details of this fast-paced world, you are doing your part to slow down the rat race and quell consumerism. You will also discover that you have more time to enjoy being alive.
2. Stay in touch with yourself. Soul searching, meditation, and journaling are just a few of the many activities you can take part in to stay aware and learn as much as you can about your emotions, reactions, likes, dislikes, dreams, and fears. Having a solid sense of self gives you a firm foundation for living in this world.
3. Support or teach others as often as you can. This can help you form connections with people while also giving you an opportunity to make the world a better place.
4. Consciously choose what you will allow into your being. The media bombards us with visions of hate, war, and pain. Be judicious about what you read, watch, and listen to.
5. Acknowledge the beauty that resides around you. Whether you live in a sprawling metropolis or a stereotypical suburb, there are natural and man-made wonders just waiting to be discovered by you.
6. Nurture your ties to your community. If you don’t have one, create one that you can belong to. Modern life can be isolating. When you have a community, you have a circle that you are a part of. Its members – loved ones, friends, or neighbors – can be a source of support, caring, guidance, and companionship.
7. See the larger picture. Remember that the way you choose to live is not the only way to live. Widen your perspective by exploring other modes of being through research, travel, and discussion.
8. Embrace the challenges that life presents to you, and challenge yourself often. After a time, even the most exciting jobs or lifestyles can seem routine. Never stop assimilating new knowledge about whatever you are doing, and your life will never seem dull.
9. Move your body. In this busy world, it can be easy to live a sedentary life. Movement reacquaints us with our bodies and connects us to the earth in a visceral way. It also restores our vitality.
10. Make time for stillness, silence, and solitude. The world can be noisy, and we are subject to all kinds of noises nearly every waking hour. We are also often on the go and unable to relax. Being alone in a peaceful place and making time for quiet can help you stay in touch with yourself.
Enjoy what you do. 😎✨
