Conversation – 18

  • Sheba2011
  • 01.09.23 4:36 PM

Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 18 out of the series. I created and started this thread 9 years ago.
I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread. ✨😎

I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

    @oodiebom,

I am just tickled to find people in Florida have the A/C on. Hey still winter here in OZ.
I have the heat on. LOL! ✨😎

Glad you can wash your house I know you want everything just right when your husband
is home. Good luck with all the repairs and it seems like things are coming together.

Were you able to schedule an appt. with Spectrum?

So glad your husband enjoyed his Ice Cream. 💕Little things means a lot.
Enjoy your evening and just relax tomorrow is another day.

    @xango,

I think I am like Shoelady60 I did see maybe three great movies this year the top 2 being
Top Gun and Elvis. 😎I have not seen many of the movies up for an Academy Award but
I will and I will start with Everything Everywhere All at Once. Michelle Yeoh is one of my
favorite actress and I do watch her movies because she had done a lot of martial arts films.

I like the Marvel Movies with strong women and Anglea Basset was really good as the
Queen Mother. I do love action movies. I wanted to be in the Air Force after graduating
from school but I was young and my parents would not sign me up. How l always wanted
to fly planes and do all the stunts before they were popular. 😎😎

I like this year’s variety and there was lots of it. Jimmy was funny and then some of his
routines did not sit well with people I will leave that for another day well at least no one
got hit this year. ✨✨I will check out Viola Davis film the Woman King. All the women I have
    mentioned are Leos. 😎

    Under the Sea
    Song by Samuel E. Wright

    Ariel, listen to me
The human world, it’s a mess
    Life under the sea
Is better than anything they got up there
    The seaweed is always greener
    In somebody else’s lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
    Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin’ for?
    Under the sea
    Under the sea
    Darling it’s better
    Down where it’s wetter
    Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
    While we devotin’
    Full time to floatin’
    Under the sea
Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain’t happy
They sad ’cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who’s gon’ be on the plate?
    Oh, no, under the sea
    Under the sea
    Nobody beat us
    Fry us and eat us
    In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
    We got no troubles
    Life is the bubbles
Under the sea (under the sea)
Under the sea (under the sea)
    Since life is sweet here
    We got the beat here
    Naturally (naturally)
Even the sturgeon and the ray
They get the urge ‘n’ start to play
    We got the spirit
    You got to hear it
    Under the sea
    The newt play the flute
    The carp play the harp
    The plaice play the bass
    And they soundin’ sharp
    The bass play the brass
    The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul
    (Yeah)
    The ray he can play
    The lings on the strings
    The trout rockin’ out
    The blackfish she sings
    The smelt and the sprat
    They know where it’s at
    And oh that blowfish blow
Yeah, under the sea (under the sea)
Under the sea (under the sea)
    When the sardine
    Begin the beguine
It’s music to me (it’s music to me)
What do they got? A lot of sand
We got a hot crustacean band
    Each little clam here
    Know how to jam here
    Under the sea
    Each little slug here
    Cuttin’ a rug here
    Under the sea
    Each little snail here
    Know how to wail here
    That’s why it’s hotter
    Under the water
    Ya we in luck here
    Down in the muck here
    Under the sea

    Kiss the Girl
    Song by Samuel E. Wright

    Percussion
    Strings
    Winds
    Words
    There you see her
    Sitting there across the way
She don’t got a lot to say
    But there’s something about her
    And you don’t know why
    But you’re dying to try
    You wanna kiss the girl
    Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
    Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
    It don’t take a word
    Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl
    Sing with me now
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
    My oh my
Look like the boy too shy
    Ain’t gonna kiss the girl
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
    Ain’t that sad?
    Ain’t it a shame?
Too bad, he gonna miss the girl
Now’s your moment (ya, ya, ya)
Floating in a blue lagoon (ya, ya, ya)
Boy, you better do it soon
No time will be better (ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)
    She don’t say a word
And she won’t say a word
    Until you kiss the girl
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don’t be scared (sha-la, sha-la-la ya, ya, ya)
You got the mood prepared (woah, woah)
Go on and kiss the girl
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don’t stop now (sha-la, sha-la-la ya, ya, ya)
Don’t try to hide it how
You want to kiss the girl (woah, woah)
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
    Float along (sha-la, sha-la-la)
    And listen to the song
The song say kiss the girl (woah, woah)
    Sha-la-la-la-la-la
The music play (ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya)
    Do what the music say
You got to kiss the girl
You’ve got to kiss the girl
Oh, don’t you wanna kiss the girl
    You’ve gotta kiss the girl
Go on and kiss the girl

Part Of Your World – The Little Mermaid

(Maybe he’s right. Maybe there is something the matter with me.
I just don’t see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.)
    Look at this stuff
    Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl
    The girl who has everything?
    Look at this trove
    Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
    Looking around here you think
    Sure, she’s got everything
I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore
    You want thingamabobs?
    I’ve got twenty!
    But who cares?
    No big deal
    I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancin’
Walking around on those – what do you call ’em?
    Oh – feet!
Flippin’ your fins, you don’t get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a – what’s that word again?
    Street
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin’ free – wish I could be
    Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
    Bet’cha on land they understand
    they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women sick of swimmin’
    Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask ’em my questions and get some answers
What’s a fire and why does it – what’s the word?
    Burn?
    When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that shore up above?
    Out of the sea
    Wish I could be
    Part of that world

I was also disappointed that AB didn’t win but so it goes.🙁 I saw Top Gun and Elvis but none of the other movies. From the clips they showed, they all looked either dull or depressing, nothing exciting. Thanks for the gown pics, there were some lovely ones.

Got some snow showers off and on today, feels like winter.❄ Mom and sis stopped so we sat around the dining room table and gabbed.

Sending hugs to you and Poppy.🤗💖

Sheba, Hello. Didn’t watch so appreciate the fashions from it. Tried doing some lunges a few days ago. I just about forgot how to do them since I haven’t been to a gym for ages. Was a little sore for 2 days after so those lunges work.
Hope you and Poppy had a great walk.
Roof is mostly done with some rain expected Tues and Weds. Today was nice and the sun came out.

    • OODIEBOM

    @sheba2011

Rain??? Thunderstorm???? I didn’t see or hear anything. Driveway was bone dry. Guess we will wait for the next cold front.

I started clearing the desk today to get ready to do the taxes. Missing a couple of pieces which will probably come next week. One of those pieces could be in a pile of papers that I started to go through. But, for now, the kitchen beckons. I still have one counter left and items in the sink, so guess I will put the desk on hold for now.

The roof came out real good. I just hope it holds together if we get severe weather. I would hate to go through this again.

I saw hubby this afternoon. He asked for ice cream numerous times and so I brought it. I used a
zippered, insulated bag that I purchased from Costco. I used three ice packs. I found a small, glass bowl that had a cover. and scooped vanilla and then peppermint something or other into it. Covered it and threw in a couple of plums. That ice cream never melted. Oh yes, I included a teaspoon and napkins and a couple of wash and dry. He loved it. It’s been months since he has had any. I left about an hour later. Hubby fell asleep. Tomorrow I will fill the gas tank and will try to get to the Farmer’s Market. Probably will return home to put things into the frig and then see what care package I can come up with for both guys. I have a feeling that the roommate is a permanent fixture at the rehab. Have no idea what his problem is, but for some reason he seems OK.

Today, I was going through things in our living room/great room. Actually, I was looking for the outdoor pillows for the lanai. I am missing a few pieces. Have no idea where they are. And speaking of the lanai. I think someone was here looking at the area that needs to be repaired. Some of the things were moved. My main concern are the pipes for the faucet in the kitchen. Hoping that they look at that area as well.

Oh, I’m not going to power wash. What I will do is pour some Clorox bleach into a bucket. I will sponge mop the paneling in the lanai and then rinse with the garden hose. I do have a wand that puts a little punch with the water that just may do the trick. At the Cape house I have done this numerous times and it glistens when finished. We have a person that we use, but he is too busy for us right now, so will wait until we return from the North (if we go). Hubby wants to head North tomorrow, but our physician has put his foot down until whenever.

The sky tonight had some pink hues against a dark sky. Not sure what the weather is for this evening. At least I know it won’t snow with the temps in the mid 70s. A/C is off. Hope y ou three will have a nice walk. It’s too cloudy here to see the moon or the stars. Now back to the kitchen.

    @Sheba

Hello Sheba, I hope you had a good start to a new week. Taking to my cousin, we were both surprised it’s already mid-March.
Woke up to rain this morning, before 5AM it started, then just ss hubby was to leave for work, buckets full with thunder and lightning.
The entire morning we had much needed rain. Then the Sun came out, heat and humidity was back. It rain throughout the afternoon doing the same. After not having any rain for many months, we got it all in a day😆.

Delivery problem not resolved yet, will keep you updated. I don’t think I am the only one. Tried calling Headquarters got redirected to customer service 😒 It’s a Tech Dept and IT area that needs to resolved the problem. Just hope they get the memo 😄

I think the Oscar’s last night was one of the best I have seen in a while. I was surprised The Woman King wasn’t mentioned. In my opinion Jimmy Kimmel was pretty mellow with his comedy and pretty respectable.
I liked many of the dresses and gown the celebrities wore. There were several very beautiful.

Take care and enjoy your walks with Poppy. ❤️❤️🌷🌷🌷

    The Purpose of an Altar

The purpose of having an altar in your home can be as simple as reminding you to take time for serenity each day.

If you didn’t grow up with an altar in your home, having an altar now may seem like an exotic and unattainable idea. Yet having an altar does not have to be complicated or difficult, nor does it need to be based on a religion or a set of ideas that don’t seem to relate to you. An altar can be a simple, personal expression of what you want to focus on right now. You do not have to build anything or take up a lot of space. You do not have to buy anything new or follow a complex set of instructions to create your altar. All you have to do is have a general understanding of what an altar is and the willingness to allow yourself access to this wonderful, ancient tool of transformation.

At its most essential, an altar is simply a raised structure that serves as a resting place for meaningful objects. It focuses the eye and provides a place for contemplation and, if so desired, ritual. All of these elements can be quite simple. One idea for a simple altar is a pot with a bulb planted in it, set on a box. This altar to growth can act as a reminder to you that all living things bloom in their time. A simple ritual might be to write down dreams you would like to see come to fruition on scraps of paper. You might place these scraps of paper in the box, or under the flowerpot, or in an envelope you prop against the pot. As the flower grows, so will your dreams.

If you look around your home, you may find that you have already created altarlike arrangements without even really thinking about it; this is something we humans do quite naturally. A candle, a decorative box, and a vase of flowers are just a few of the common household objects that lend themselves naturally to the creation of an altar. Simply add intention and intuition, and you have created your first altar. Remember that it isn’t necessarily about the objects you place at your altar—it is the time you spend with it daily, taking the time to be with it for your sacred time. AMEN! ✨✨
