Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

What I forgot to mention is that all retail as well as businesses including the State were shut down for five days. My husband was stuck at his mom’s during this time because his car was covered in white and he had to wait for someone to help him plow out. The lady who took care of his Mom had a police car pick her up at her home until she was able to dig from under as well. She told the police department that the lady she was taking care of was blind and also was a diabetic. My husband even told her it wasn’t necessary to be there since he couldn’t return to the apartment. I do not recall if we lost electricity. I know I couldn’t get out to market, but because we were in an area that would not be plowed, we had a helicopter that brought care packages because there were children and elderly in the area. Luckily I had stocked enough food for our cat so he was happy and content. He would go out for short periods and do what he had to do and come back in. There were no cell phones or computers in those days. It’s amazing what we have today in comparison. Who knew…..😎😎😊🤣😍

Both my computers in Florida are rather old. I could do zoom if there was a way to chat using the keyboard. Neither computer has a mike or camera. The new computer will have all that and more. As far as my cell goes, I probably could do face time as well as zoom. However the sound quality isn’t there. No, I do not have an I-Phone. Just have a LG that I do not keep on 24/7 because the battery runs down quite fast. Who knew we would have a pandemic and I would not be up to date.
I heard about the Noreaster when we returned from shopping. Seems that in our homes up North they had tons of rain. So, no worries. When I was looking for a home on the Cape, we used to notice tons of flooding, so we were very careful where we looked and finally purchased. It took us over three years to find a home in what we think is a perfect location for us. Our home is fine and we are fortunate that the street does not flood.
Did we ever experience a Noreaster. OMG, Yes. The blizzard of “78” comes to mind. All week the weather people were warning of a huge storm. One person even said the storm was the largest he had ever seen. So, when I awoke the morning of the storm, I expected to be able to stay home and sleep in. Not the case. I woke to full sunshine and a gorgeous morning. There was no storm. Matter-of-fact, I don’t remember it even being cold enough for snow. At that time I commuted over 20 miles one way. Arrived at the office where everyone was laughing and wondering if this large storm went out to sea or just never existed. What we didn’t realize is that it was a real slow mover. Around 1 pm we were told to clear our desks and leave. Being that the only windows were the front door no one realized what was going on outside. When I managed to get to the car there was at least three inches of white everywhere. And, it was very windy and tons of drifts. I was prepared. Boots were in the car. My heavy coat with gloves and hat were there also. I had a suitcase as well just in case (I always traveled that way). Changed into heavy coat, gloves, hat, boots, etc.. Cleared the car from dry snow and then proceeded to return home. The drive wasn’t bad. I had a major highway that was well plowed. On the way, I stopped at McDonald’s and picked up hamburgers, milk shakes and fries. My mother in law was blind and had the beginnings of dementia. So, she was home with a caretaker and my husband would stop at the house in the morning to give her the insulin shot and then go to work. He was only three miles from her home. At the time also, my husband was on crutches with a knee injury. Normally I wouldn’t have stopped at McDonald’s, but felt it was a good cause. I made it to her home without any problems. Delivered the hamburgers and then proceeded to our apartment which was on top of a huge hill. I prayed that my car would make it as we had over 10 inches of white by that time and none of the roads were plowed. I did make it. Put the car in lower gear and was able to do the hill without any problems. At that time I had Felix the cat and he was waiting for me on the ledge of our kitchen window. No worse for wear, just cold. Hubby stayed too long at his mother’s, so he spent the next few nights there. We had over 35″ of white when everything was said and done. This storm was before the house on the Cape. I think I told you the story of the storm on the Cape sometime ago, if not, will tell it again later.

O Holy Night
Mariah CareyOh holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error, pining
‘Til He appeared and the soul felt it’s worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn’
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Angels’ voices
Oh, night divine, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn’
Fall on your knees, oh, hear, hear the Angels’ voices
Oh, night divine, yeah, oh, night when Christ was born
Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
Oh yes, said rise (oh night divine)
It is the night of the Lord savior’s birth
Oh, night divine (oh, oh, Lord, baby)
Oh, night divine (it was a holy, holy, holy, oh)
Oh, oh, oh, oh (oh night divine)
This is a (oh night, yeah, yeah)
Oh night divine, oh night, holy night!
Oh night divine, oh night, holy night!
Oh night divine, oh night
Oh night divine, oh night, holy night! -

Hi. Just returned from marketing and putting all the goodies away. So good to finally sit down and check the day’s events, Yes, I saw the note from John and your response and his following. I also left a note and hopefully he will see that as well. It was really nice to get out for a few hours.
I really feel bad about my cousin, but saddened that her mom is in assisted living and not too happy being there. Sometimes I wonder why children do not think of turning a room downstairs into a bedroom and enlarging the guest bathroom into a master. I had kept that wish for my mom when her health changed. My mom lived in a ranch house where everything was on one floor. The only thing I had to do was convince her to find people to help clean and prepare meals. We did this together, even putting an ad into the local paper and interviewing first over the phone and then in person. Doing it this way we were able to find the right people to work during the week and others who wanted weekends. Hubby would take her marketing when needed and also to the hairdresser since I was still employed at the time. So sad when a child goes first. And speaking of this, I will not be receiving this new computer until sometime on Tuesday. As soon as I am up and running I will be looking to doing face time.
