So sorry to hear about your BIL To have a friend for so many years he was probably more like a brother than a friend. I know this isn’t easy for either of you. I had a cousin who made the exact same decision just a few years ago. He was a cousin through marriage and even after his divorce we remained good friends. He had two knee replacements and swam like crazy at his local Y to offset the pain. When his kidneys started to malfunction he made the decision not to go on dialysis. He said both decisions would be painful and he mentioned that he lived a good and beautiful life and even saw a book published. He past two days after our last phone call. Both of us were lucky to have said our goodbyes and to let them know we would miss them hook, line and sinker. A friendship like that can never be replaced, but the memories will linger with us forever.
