Chilly and cloudy today, feels like fall instead of spring. I have been thinking of your mom all afternoon. Please let me know how she is doing during the next week.💗

Hockey team plays tonight, they have been off for three days. Hope they didn’t get lazy after all this rest and can bring home a winner without anyone else getting hurt.🏒

Taking mom to the grocery store, bank and her weekly hair appointment. Maybe somewhere else if she thinks of anything by tomorrow morning. I think she wants an Arby’s sandwich and shake🍔🍿 so I will stop for that while she’s getting her hair done. Whatever mom needs.💕

Am I posting this reply in the right place like you asked me to yesterday? Well, here in California the temp will be a beautiful 76, sunny & breezy. I certainly hope I will learn to get to the spot in this conversation faster. It seems that I have to do a lot of scrolling. Is that normal? or am I still not doing things the correct easy way? Good Afternoon. Sunny today on the Gulf coast. Back is giving us some problems, but nothing that will make me sit all day. Hubby, on the other hand, not so good.

Today, I started reading the ads from the markets I frequent in the North. To say I got sticker shock is an understatement. The prices of fruits, veggies and “FRESH” fish are almost tripled the prices here. I am not talking about the fish from the Gulf, but rather the ones from New England. Cod was $8.99 lb, Halibut $14.99 lb, Salmon $9.99 lb just to give you an idea. In some cases we pay at least 50% less and they are not frozen, they are fresh. On the other hand, meat and chicken is a lot less. Romaine lettuce in Ma. is going for $1.49 ea where we pay between $.79 and $.99 ea. Often in New England the Romaine goes by the pound. Guess I will have to purchase the packages again……Ok Sheba, here is a no no for me, but may become a yes yes when we shop. The ice cream at our Farmer’s Market is all home made in there take out area. This week’s special is their home made brownie with ice cream (including sugar free) and hot fudge for $2.99. They even have home made sugar free hot fudge. How can I say no, no and no.
To think, if my birthday was this week, it would be free. YIKES……..

There is a fish I really like that I can only purchase in Florida. It comes frozen from the Pacific Ocean and is called Corvina. The pinker the fish the better the flavor. My first taste of this fish was from Costco. I always thought the price @ $9.99 was OK. But when they went up over a dollar and the taste went I stopped purchasing. Then, last year, the Farmer’s Market brought it and sold it for $4.99 lb.. They had some behind the counter which was defrosted and yes, I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be better in taste and is now a favorite. Another fish that comes frozen is Chilean Sea Bass. A friend of ours who was a fisherman in the NY waters (Atlantic Ocean) got me started on this fish. During a 2 wk period in July, he would catch this fish fresh. He and his wife would make a meal and had me try it. One of the best tasting fish I have ever had. The frozen one sells for $9.99 lb here in Florida. But the price is often $l4.99-$20 lb when not on sale. Our market in Ma. sells it for $15.99 lb when they get it. I had never seen it lower until now.

One of my favorite things to do is comparison shopping especially on grocery items. In Florida we have two markets. Winn Dixie and Publix. How I hated to shop at these markets. It was like going to the “Gold” coast instead of the Gulf. You really could not purchase fresh fish from these markets. Everything was more or less frozen. Then, I found fish markets. Again, prices were up there. Then, a couple of years ago I found an outdoor Farmer’s Market. In New England, Farmer’s Market means fresh. However, fresh also means more expensive than your local grocer. So, when, I heard of the Farmer’s Market here, I thought of high prices. When I finally had the courage to give it a try, OMG, my life changed forever. I think I have said enough. I just made myself very hungry. Going to make a salmon salad.

Evaluating Media News

Balance must be created when taking in news media, not allowing ourselves to BECOME the bad news.

There is a lot of information available to us at this time in history, more than ever before, and it travels fast. We are able to learn in the blink of an eye about something that happened halfway around the world, and it’s natural for us to want to know what’s going on. However, it’s also fair to say that we don’t want to become so caught up in one way of looking at events that we lose perspective. Often, the news comes to us in a very fear-oriented format, and when too many of us get caught up in fear, the balance of the whole is disrupted. It helps to remember that we have a much greater and more positive impact on the world when we maintain our inner sense of peace and joy.

We are aware enough to know when we are eating something that is not good for us, because we don’t feel well after we’ve eaten it. In the same way, we can determine for ourselves whether the sources in which our information comes are ultimately healthful. News can be presented in a way that inspires us to take positive action to help the world, or it can be presented in a way that leaves us feeling powerless and sad. It is up to us to seek out and support media that empowers and informs us, and to say no to media that drains our energy and our hope.

For a time, it may even be of benefit to commit to a media fast, in which we stop taking information in for a time to give ourselves a rest. When we return to the task of taking in and processing the information all around us, we will come to it with a fresh mind. This will enable us to really notice how we are affected by what we hear and see, and to make conscious choices about the sources of information that we allow into our lives.

Good time of year for fruits and veggies. I think I may get some of the plants

My mom is getting her second Moderna Vaccine right now. I have three family
members getting their second shot today. 😎
