Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Raspberry Beret
Song by Prince and The RevolutionOne, two
One, two, three, uh
Yeah
I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn’t like my kind
‘Cause I was a bit too leisurely
Seems that I was busy doing something close to nothing
But different than the day before
That’s when I saw her, ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door
She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her
Built like she was
She had the nerve to ask me
If I planned to do her any harm
So, look here
I put her on the back of my bike
And-a we went riding
Down by old man Johnson’s farm
I said now, overcast days never turned me on
But something about the clouds and her mixed
She wasn’t too bright
But I could tell when she kissed me
She knew how to get her kicks
She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her
The rain sounds so cool when it hits the barn roof
And the horses wonder who you are
Thunder drowns out what the lightning sees
You feel like a movie star
Listen
They say the first time ain’t the greatest
But I tell ya
If I had the chance to do it all again
I wouldn’t change a stroke
‘Cause baby, I’m the most
With a girl as fine as she was then, oh, oh yeah
Raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store (the kind you find)
Raspberry beret
If it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I, I think I, I think I love her
Raspberry beret
(No, no, no)
The kind you find in a second hand store (no, no, no)
Raspberry beret
(Tell me where have all the raspberry women gone?)
If it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more

Last night’s program was amazing. Dick VanDyke mouthed the words to several songs. I think if he was invited up to the stage he would have danced the night away. I had no idea this was the program following 60 minutes and I enjoyed every minute. Wish this was a weekly thing.
Technically, the kitchen is now done and I can devote the time this week to the bedroom and the laundry. Hubby said he would do the floor. I just have a few things to put away that will take all of ten minutes. The counters look wonderful. We now have room to do whatever.
Went to Costco this afternoon. After looking at the books I started not feeling that well. I picked up a few food things and we left. Stopped at the Farmer’s Market but decided to go home instead. Will try again either tomorrow or Wednesday. I think I was just completely dehydrated and I was going to pick up an energy thing but forgot. Made it home. I’m feeling better after drinking water and eating something. Will look for some summer shoes. The heat and humidity got to hubby as well. Right now, heading North is on the back burner until the both of us can sit in the car for at least 7 to 8 hours.
This morning, received a phone call from the father of our next door neighbor. He mentioned to a friend of ours who is also a neighbor on the Cape that he is very much interested in purchasing our home. This is because we didn’t make it all last year because of the pandemic. She must have given him our phone number. Anyway, guess I will return the call in the AM. I do not think we could clean out two houses at the same time. Besides, we both love the Cape when we are there. We just have to think how much.

Good afternoon, busy today but it will be a lot more the rest of the week. Project at home, project at neighbor’s, mom and sis, etc. So if you don’t hear from me…..assume I am out on the couch!😴
I did know about the golfer. From what I heard, he had been tested since Monday and all were negative until Saturday. He was asymptomatic and I read he had his first vaccine last week so, no, he wasn’t fully protected yet. He was six strokes ahead and probably would have won the tournament so that one covid test cost him $1.6 mil.😩 But that’s the rules of the PGA.
Going to make something simple for dinner, too hot to cook today and most of the week. Dinner will be made via the telephone!

Reading for Pleasure
Each time we read for enjoyment, the empathy awakened within us creates entire landscapes in our mind’s eye.
Every book has the potential to touch the human soul deeply, arousing patterns of thought that might otherwise have lain dormant. The pleasure we derive from the written word is unique in that we must labor for it. Other forms of art provide us with stimulus and ask nothing more than our emotional response. Reading is an active pastime that requires an investment of emotion as well as our concentration and imagination. The words we read are merely a starting point for a process that takes place largely within our minds and hearts.
There are few activities as comforting, relaxing, and healthy as perusing the pages of a good piece of fiction or nonfiction. Curling up with a book and a cup of tea is one of the simplest ways we can remove ourselves from the confines of reality in order to immerse ourselves in the drama and intrigue of the unfamiliar. The pleasure of transcending reality is only one aspect of the reading experience, however. Each time we read for enjoyment, whether we prefer the fantastic nature of fiction, the empathy awakened within us by memoir, or the instructive passion of nonfiction, we create entire landscapes in our mind’s eye. The books we choose provide us with the inspiration we need to accomplish such a feat, but it is our own creative reserves that empower us to use our imaginations for this unique and beautiful purpose.
The tales you lose yourself in can lead you on paths of discovery that take you out of your own life and help you see that existence can unfold in an infinite number of ways. You can learn so much from the characters and mentors who guide you from page to page. Your emotions are awakened each time you read, allowing you to become vessels of the passion that pours forth from line after line of print. Ultimately, the books you absorb — those that touch you deeply — will become a part of who you are, providing you with a rich and thrilling world within that you can revisit anytime you wish by simply closing your eyes. If you haven’t read a book for pleasure lately, try and allow yourself the time — you deserve it. AMEN! 😎🌹

Good morning in S. California. Oz is beautiful today. 💕😎 Here is a little info on
the Yams and Sweet Potatoes. That sweet, orange-colored root vegetable that you love so dearly is actually a sweetpotato. Yes, all so-called “yams” are in fact sweetpotatoes. Most people think that long, red-skinned sweetpotatoes are yams, but they really are just one of many varieties of sweetpotatoes. How do you tell the difference between a sweet potato and a yam?
The skin of a yam (left) looks kind of like tree bark, while a sweet potato (right) is more reddish-brown. Real yams are entirely different root vegetables that are more like yucca in texture and flavor. They have bumpy, tough brown skin (that looks almost tree trunk-like) with starchy, not sweet flesh.
This is how my pie looks. 💕This is a sweet potato pie. This is how I make my yams in the oven. They are really good too. 😎
Taci I have used both I do make sweet potatoes pie from scratch love my kitchen
aide mixer for that. The yams I bake in the oven. I can post some more yam recipes for
you during the week. 😘 Both are good for you. 💕Enjoy the hike, the weather and the view. 😎
