Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Hey Sheba –
Is posting a link not allowed here??
And where are the ‘posting rules’?? -
Good afternoon, Sheba:
I don’t currently have any pets. I started rescuing stray & feral cats in 1999 because they seemed to be overflowing in my hood. (Woods behind my back fence & I think people must have dumped lots of cats in there.) I rescued 9 within the next few years & adopted one from Ft. Meade, MD. My tortie Star rescued in May of ’99 lived until March of 2019. Most all the others lived to be 17, 18 & 19 years old. My last one – Annie – passed in Nov. of 2020. My totally feral kitty was #5 – Misty Jean – & she really was a purrfect tuxedo kitty. I could write a book about her. She made me laugh every day. I don’t know the secret of posting pics here, so I’ll put the link of my favorite Misty pic below this post. (Let me know if you missed it because it was removed or whatever.)🐱🐈
Have a great week!😊😄🤗

Dental appointment was fine. It is humid and off and on rain all day. I think all day rain tomorrow from Fred.🌧
Stopped and bought some mums for my deck.🌸 My other flowers were a little too large for the pots and were heavy and drooping so threw those out.🥀 Still have a big geranium pot and begonia pot. May still get another giant mum for the plant stand out front. This is the point in time where I am getting sick of tending to flowers.😝
Nieces will be going to the drive, chip and putt contest sometime this month, I think. No tournaments last week. They both do golf and basketball, now one of them is playing volleyball also. Oh, to be young again!🙄
That drink looks great in this humidity.🍈 Hugs to you and Poppy.🤗

Doing good today. Trying to do the kitchen chores and then the laundry beckons. Right now, our dishwasher is not draining properly. Not to worry, I contacted an appliance repair person. He/she will be out Thursday morning or early afternoon. I have a feeling it is a clog issue. Then again I could be wrong.
Hubby is doing OK. Just wish he didn’t have the horrible pain in his legs. I may make an appointment with an orthopedist. But, surgery is out of the question right now. I do not trust anesthesia following a minor or even a full fledge stroke. I just do not want him to go backwards and be worse off. It may have to be a trade off, but for now, will see how physical therapy works out. Should be hearing about that relatively soon.
Well, back to work. I need to do some of these dishes by hand. No worries, found the ole rubber gloves that will save my hands. Hope you find the Dragon fruit soon.
Tomorrow Costco for sure. Farmer’s Market may have to wait a bit.

Reactions to Life Events
Our past experiences, can and do, influence our emotional reactions and responses to present events.
Our experiences color everything. The events of the past can have a profound effect on how we see our lives now and what we choose to believe about our world. Our past experiences can also influence our emotional reactions and responses to present events. Each of us reacts to stimulus based on what we have learned in life. There is no right or wrong to it; it is simply the result of past experience. Later, when our strong feelings have passed, we may be surprised at our reactions. Yet when we face a similar situation, again our reactions may be the same. When we understand those experiences, we can come that much closer to understanding our reactions and consciously change them.
Between stimulus and reaction exists a fleeting moment of thought. Often, that thought is based on something that has happened to you in the past. When presented with a similar situation later on, your natural impulse is to unconsciously regard it in a similar light. For example, if you survived a traumatic automobile accident as a youngster, the first thing you might feel upon witnessing even a minor collision between vehicles may be intense panic. If you harbor unpleasant associations with death from a past experience, you may find yourself unable to think about death as a gentle release or the next step toward a new kind of existence. You can, however, minimize the intensity of your reactions by identifying the momentary thought that inspires your reaction. Then, next time, replace that thought with a more positive one.
Modifying your reaction by modifying your thoughts is difficult, but it can help you to see and experience formerly unpleasant situations in a whole new light. It allows you to stop reacting unconsciously. Learning the reason of your reactions may also help you put aside a negative reaction long enough to respond in more positive and empowered ways. Your reactions and responses then become about what’s happening in the present moment rather than about the past. As time passes, your negative thoughts may lose strength, leaving only your positive thoughts to inform your healthy reactions. ✨😎
