Conversation – 16
Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

“Summer In The City”Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity?
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match headBut at night it’s a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it’ll be all rightAnd babe, don’t you know it’s a pity
That the days can’t be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the cityCool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I’m wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftopBut at night it’s a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it’ll be all rightAnd babe, don’t you know it’s a pity
That the days can’t be like the nights
In the summer, in the city

Hi. Just wondering if your mom and sis made it to Vegas. Bet they are at the “tables” playing whatever. Hope they return with big winnings and took the opportunity to see some star studded shows.

I just read your post and if there is anything I can do to help, please, by all means, let me know. I learned quite a bit when my Mom had a stroke and wound up in a convalescent home for rehab. Because I was working at the time, I could not be with her during most of the visiting hours. However, my hubby was already retired and because of his background in social work was able to help with her situations. One thing I did learn was that the convalescent care is just like being in a warehouse. You got fed three meals per day. Help change clothes, etc. etc. Doctors were not your family physician who knew you inside and out. These doctors prescribed whatever they felt was needed. My hubby would come home with a list of meds which I never heard of. We tried to check on line, but back in those days we were just getting used to a computer. So, we resorted to the pharmacist for most things. Of course we tried to get my mom out of convalescent care and back to her own home, but that was made more difficult with putting bars up all over the place (which Mom reneged on), and of course getting her own health care workers. The possibility of getting her home were absolutely ludicrous. Thankfully, hubby knew the ins and outs and we were finally able to get her home where she was able to do things for herself. Of course, the convalescent home lost a bed and a paying customer and that was the reason for all the hoopla in the first place. But, the one thing I learned was to ask tons of questions. Even today, during the visit with our physician I was able to give him pertinent info. Funny, both of us assumed that the other knew about the meds. Thank goodness, my keen eye saw 500mg of the diabetic medication for breakfast and another one with the same amount of mgs for dinner. If I hadn’t seen this or just took for granted that the meds were right, my hubby could have been on a slab in the mortuary. Were the physicians just giving out meds even if the patient didn’t warrant it. Guess this means another phone call to our health insurance company. My hubby is at times a borderline diabetic. That’s why I have the book “Wheat Belly” by William Davis. I can attest that it does work. I guess what I am trying to say is that we are not only an advocate for ourselves but also for our family members who can speak up. But, does anyone listen to them??? Your mom’s physician and pharmacist should have everythng you need to answer all questions. Oh yes, even your mom’s health insurance company can be extremely helpful. Believe me when I say, they do not mind paying hospital bills as long as that everything is legit. Hope I have helped in some way. Take it easy. One day at a time. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sheba, glad you had a great nights sleep. I slept pretty good, although I am a bit tired from working on my Mothers estate. Things are moving along though. Like Oodie and her situation, I am finding that there is real concern on my Mothers rehab care. or lack thereof. Oodie has raised some very valid concerns and you know I will too.
Getting ready to get take my walk.
Have a great week everyone!

Glad you got your plant in the ground, don’t want to do it with all the heat you are having. I decided I wasn’t planting for fall because of all the deer. I will just be buying a few pots for the deck railing and front plant stand.🌸💐🌼
As far as I know, mom and sis got off fine. I do know the flight was not cancelled and actually left the ‘burgh a little early. They should arrive around 7:00 eastern time and sis said she would call to let me know they arrived safely. I hope mom enjoys the 104+ temps while there; she is always cold and will probably have a sweater on in the casino.
I think “Hot, Hot, Hot” is quite appropriate for Club Sheba. That is the staple song for every cruise I’ve been on.🔥🔥🔥

Hi and a good afternoon to you. We are cloudy on the Gulf coast. The clouds are dark but so far no rain. That could happen at any time or not.
Hubby had a doctor appointment this morning. He was able to stand for weigh in. I know he lost weight, but he was able to hide the total. His blood pressure was good. Sugar was something I was concerned with. The doctor at the rehab recommended 1000 mgs tablet to be taken daily. This really bothered me because hubby’s sugar was never high enough for this type of recommendation. So they did a blood test and though not good prior to eating, it wasn’t in the range. When the physician came in I mentioned the Metformin HCL tablets. He was going with the doctors in Savannah and now he is questioning all the meds. He is asking for blood work at the next appointment. For now, he is off the diabetic medication and I will definitely watch his diet. He does enjoy pizza and there are many places here that do not use bread. Instead they substitute cauliflower for the crust or use almond flour. This is something that has not been done on The East Coast. Asian food for the most part has additives like corn starch, corn syrup and loads of salt. Since we are familiar with most of the sauces, it might be better for us to do the buffet route rather than order out. The same could be said for some of the restaurants. At least we will be able to ask questions prior. But thank goodness the Assistant did a finger and his sugar was lower than it has been. But, this prescription was definitely scary for me. This brings me to another point. Why wasn’t I informed about the new meds while in rehab? As I said yesterday, never assume that things remain the same. Why was there no consultation with the rehab physician? He arrived prior to visiting hours. Hmm….he couldn’t be there when family members were present??? And, if hubby was considered to be diabetic, why wasn’t he on a special diet???? I had no time to check on the rehab place. I wasn’t given 24 hour notice. I was told the morning of that he would be transferred and that he would be a patient there for two weeks. I surmise they had a crystal ball that told them that my hubby would need to be ready to leave in two weeks. WOW…….and they never saw him prior. I have already given our health insurance company a heads up. And, as of last week they are no longer covered by our health insurance company. All I can say is that being with him everyday from almost the beginning of visitor hours until time to leave was a good thing. One thing for sure, I knew what he ate and did check off the meals for each day. It is important for family to take an interest. You are the speaker for the patient. And, never assume that they know what they are doing.
We haven’t gone shopping yet. Both of us have been too tired to go out and about. We will probably go around the corner to Aldi’s instead of Costco. Today was garbage pickup. Before leaving for the doctor’s appointment, I cleaned the freezer.

Finding Another Vantage Point
Seeing the world from another perspective can introduce you to all sorts of hidden treasures.
The ocean can look very different, depending on whether you are standing at the shore, soaring above in a plane, or swimming beneath its waves. Likewise, a mountain can look very different relative to where you are standing. Each living thing sees the world from its unique vantage point. While from your window you may be seeing what looks like a huge shrub, a bird in its nest is getting an intimate view of that tree’s leafy interior. Meanwhile, a beetle sees only a massive and never-ending tree trunk. Yet all three of you are looking at the same tree.
Just as a shadow that is concealed from one point of view is easily seen from another, it is possible to miss a fantastic view. That is, unless you are willing to see what’s in front of you through different eyes. Seeing the world from another perspective, whether spatially or mentally, can introduce you to all sorts of hidden treasures. The root of the discovery process often lies in finding another way of looking at the world. The common human reaction to insects is one example. Spinning its web in a dark corner, a spider may seem drab, frightening, and mysterious. But seen up close weaving silver snowflakes between the branches of a tree, they can look like colored jewels.
Sometimes, there are experiences in life that from your vantage point may seem confusing, alarming, or worrisome. Or there may be events that look insignificant from where you are standing right now. Try seeing them from another point of view. Bury your face in the grass and look at the world from a bug’s vantage point. Explore your home as if you were a small child. Take a ride in a small aircraft and experience the world from a bird’s eye view. Just as kneeling down sometimes helps you see more closely when you are looking for lost treasure, so can standing back help you appreciate the broader picture of what you are looking at. In doing so, you’ll experience very different worlds. ✨😘😎💕
