Hello Peeps time for a new Conversation Thread. This is
number 16 out of the series. I created and started this thread nearly 7 years
ago. I will change it often from now on. This is just a knock around
thread about things in life. My life and others. I am an avid Heidi
Daus Collector, former singer, model and so on. I do this thread because
I enjoy what I do. I love fashion and music and HSN is a little of both.
I cover a lot of music and fashion on this thread.
I am going to wish Happy Holidays to all the Peeps out there and please
stay safe.

Think of it as the beginning… not the end. Tis the season for change to appear. The ending of the summer, beginning of the school year, new chapters, seasons changing…when something is sad and it feels like the end maybe see it as a beautiful new beginning and you are the author…a new chapter and new adventure awaits….good luck with your beginnings and keep your endings in your heart as you open new doors this month. 💕🌸 – ✨✨

Happy Wednesday…Remember this….The beauty of making a mistake or something you may see as a failure is you never know where something will lead you…life is full of experiences that shape us. Sometimes what we label a failure is helping us grow in ways we never thought we could or would. ✨✨

Good afternoon in Florida and I hope it is a good one for you. 😎✨
Xango thank you for sharing your family story I found it so interesting.I bet your mom was a good cook. 💕I am doing alright today and hopefully OZ
will get a little rain my flowers and plants need it. I am keeping busy. You enjoy the day I want to thank you for your support during this difficult time.
-
Good Afternoon Sheba, it’s a sunny day here and hope you are having one too with some rain for your garden. Sounds like it will be a busy day for you. I am so sorry to read the passing of your second aunt.As I said before, it’s not an easy part of life we go through. My husband too lost his aunt in Texas, she had been ill for a long time. The funeral was last week and he could not attend. My mother did have a very difficult and interesting life, and there are many stories. She was a very good cook, I really didn’t cook while she was alive. I worked and didn’t want to do anything inside the house. I learned to cook more after she passed. I liked her chicken soup the most, and miss it alot. I tried to make it but, it doesn’t taste the same. Enjoy the rest of your day Sheba, take care.
-
I am sure you are a great cook. My mother is a great cook so were my aunts and I paid
attention when it came to making food from scratch how I loved to in the kitchen as
a child. I feel as long as I remember the Aunts they will live through me. ✨ -
Thank you for your sentiments on the holiest of our Holidays. As I am writing his I have the television on for the evening service which is absolutely beautiful. Again, there is no congregation but in these times we do what we can and make do with what we have. The service can also be seen on the Internet. This is the time we ask for forgiveness for our sins and transgressions and ask G-d to enter us in the Book of Life for another year. The service is done in both Hebrew and English.
-
You brought back memories of my grandma who made chicken soup every Friday for our Sabbath. It was a ritual with me to be there on Fridays just to enjoy the flavor of her cooking and to be there with her when grandpa would leave the house and go across the street to join a small congregation for services. After I became a married lady and would stop at the house she would ask if I was a good cook. I had to tell her the truth that I was horrible. Cooking was not my forte. And she would smile and say, “someday, when you least expect it, you will be a better cook than me.” Of course I can attest to the fact that it still hasn’t happened. But, at least I can smile at the mistakes and can do whatever. I am positive that your chicken soup may not be the same but at least you try. In some respects it may be better and healthier. My grandmother used to add the feet of the chicken to the soup and remove them before serving. I do not do that part. I also use an electric stove and oven in Florida while at the Cape house I use gas. Believe me when I tell you there is a big taste in the gas over the electric. It also takes less time to cook. I’ll never forget the time I made a beef stew for the first time. It said to add a clove of garlic. At that time I thought a clove was the entire bulb. No wonder I had to throw it out. At the time I cried. Today I laugh. Go figure.

I am so sorry to hear of your aunt’s passing. So many times in life we hear of illnesses and never suspect that a life will be taken. It doesn’t matter what age the person was because death comes in all forms in all age brackets. Even when we feel that death is imminent our heart and brain says differently. It is always a surprise and in most instances never expected. At least not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. Sometime in the future., maybe. But not now. Think of the good times, the jokes, the times together, etc.. Right now, with everyone on this thread, we are surrounding you with love and hugs. You are not alone. I just want you to know that. I know you are very concerned with your Mom. I know you are there for her and wish you were beside her, in person, at times like this. Take care of yourself and your hubby along with Poppy and your kids. I wish there was a way for me to be at your door. I send you and your family our deepest sympathy and condolescences.
-
Thank you for your post Oodie why does it hurt so bad? I know that in time
this too shall pass. ✨ -
Death hurts so bad because it’s forever. When we love someone so much you never want to let them go. Your aunts were part of your life from the day you were born. They were a second mom to you. They taught you to be a lady, to cook, to clean. They were there when times were bad and when things were good. They held you up when things were down. They helped to make you strong when you were weak. Now comes the hard part. The part we never want to do or go through. There comes a time when we must say goodbye. Forever is a long time. We must believe that the world they have been welcomed into has no pain, no illness. They have left their bodies to soar, to be free. It’s funny in a sense that I believe they are with us. Possibly in another form. They can see us, but for some reason we cannot see them. Your faith will help to carry you through the hard times. Take each day as it comes. Nurture each hour and each day and live it as only you can. She’d the tears for it will bring new growth. Take care, Sheba, you will smile again. I promise.
-
@oodiebom, G’mar chatima tova to you and your husband Oodie. I hope you and your husband will have a meaningful fast. We had some rain last night and a very sunny hot day today. The temperature and humidity has been off the charts. I am ready for some fall-winter temperatures. I was reading your posts, and I am so glad that your husband is getting stronger and better with each day. My right knee give out on me the other day and I had to put my brace on while cooking and baking. Oodie, G’marchatimatova, take care.

“Yesterday”
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be.
There’s a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly. Why she had to go?
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday. Why she had to go?
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.

Peace
Peace starts within us — we cannot bring to the world what we do not have to offer.
Often we look at the outside world and find it in a state of seeming chaos or disorder. We feel compelled to transform the situation from one of turmoil into one of peace, yet we are often disappointed in our best attempts to do so. One reason for this is that we cannot bring to the world what we do not have to offer. Peace starts in our own minds and hearts, not outside of ourselves, and until its roots are firmly entrenched in our own selves, we cannot manifest it externally. Once we have found it within, we can share it with our family, our community, and the whole wide world. Some of us may already be doing just that, but for most of us, the first step is looking within and honestly evaluating the state of our own relationship to peacefulness.
Interestingly, people who manifest peace internally are not different from us; they have chattering thoughts and troubled emotions like we all do. The difference is that they do not lend their energy to them, so those thoughts and feelings can simply rise and fall like the waves of the ocean without disturbing the deeper waters of peacefulness within. We all have this ability to choose how we distribute our energy, and practice enables us to grow increasingly more serene as we choose the vibration of peace over the vibration of conflict. We begin to see our thoughts and feelings as tiny objects on the surface of our being that pose no threat to the deep interior stillness that is the source of peacefulness.
When we find that we are able to locate ourselves more and more in the deeper waters and less on the tumultuous surface of our being, we have discovered a lasting relationship with peace that will enable us to inspire peace beyond ourselves. Until then, we help the world most by practicing the art of choosing peace within. Amen! ✨😎

Good day in Florida I hope you some rain. How are you doing today? I have had an annoying
headache all week. I know it’s stress from the loss of my Aunt. I know this too shall pass. ✨I can’t wait to turn the A/C off and open the windows. 😎
-
Good Afternoon to you Sheba, I hope your headache has gone away. And hope you can take something for it too. I remember my mother when I was a child, when she would get headaches. She would cut thin slices of potatoes and place it on her temples. After a while the slices would turn black, of course now we know its oxidation. But she would show it to me and say see it’s working. My mom only went to school until the 4th grade. She had to stop school and go work to help her family. I never met my German grandmother, she passed before I was born. She had 10 children and they had to eat so my mom had to work. However my mom learned how to speak English, read English, and write in English without going to school here. I was lucky to come to this country with her. I started working at age 12, well just baby sitting for fifty cents per hour. At 15, I took care of a little boy after school and always ended up with a house full of kids watching cartoons are just playing. Got paid for one but had many around me. Take care Sheba

Good day on the Gulf Coast. ✨😎Glad you had rain and a rainbow too that is a good
sign. Oodie glad your husband is feeling better.I do love the necklace by Heidi Daus beautiful. 😎✨
Don’t overdo anything today. 😜

As I am typing we are in the midst of a rain storm. Quite windy as well. Haven’t seen any lightning nor heard any thunder. However, my back until just a few minutes gave me one problem after another today. Nothing accomplished except for my whining.
Hubby is doing better, however I will still make an appointment with an orthopedist.
Tomorrow night begins the holiest of all our holidays. I will be watching the televised version since I’m too scared to join the crowd for the service. Florida still has a high case load of the Delta variants. Do not wish to take any chances.
Made my winter melon soup tonight. Both of us for some reason just wanted soup tonight. I didn’t use the Asian version which calls for winter melon. Their winter melon actually has no taste and is a gourd. Since it looks like the honeydew in color and texture, I used that plus I threw in a couple of sweet plums. I do not add pepper or salt, rather let the spices/herbs do their work. The soup came out really good. and sweet. I use carrots and box choy for veggies. By the way, on the bok choy, I include the green leaves. You can use any meat or chicken . The Asian use pork that is cut up. You may say it is the ribs cut into halves and thrids depending upon the size. Not all butchers are up to dong this, so be aware that you may have to do it yourself or let it be. It won’t hurt the taste. Just will not be bite size.
Hope your headache goes away and soon. Could be a little bit of nerves as well as sinus related. I know the pollen count is high in Florida right now. However, the rain does help. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

Good Morning in S California I hope this day finds you doing well. ✨💕 Enjoy the

Here is to a safe and good day in the ‘burgh. 😘✨😎Rest up for Mom Friday. 😘💕
How is your sister doing and did your mother mention anything about the Country Club
Luncheon? Take it easy today I know you may have some appts. -
Not much happening in the ‘burgh but heat and humidity.🔥 May have some storms tomorrow. I see Texas and the poor people in the south are getting hit again with another hurricane – how much more can they take? Breaks my heart for them.😪
Ran out and did some errands this morning and just finished laundry. I think we will have easy sandwiches for dinner,🥪 not a fan of cooking when it’s hot.
The first thing mom told me about the luncheon was that she didn’t win any money, lol!🤣 She said the food was okay but not great. Coming from mom, this doesn’t mean much as she dislikes so many things now. Who doesn’t like chicken? The only one she likes is KFC.🍗

Good morning in California sending kitty hugs to you and your kittens and family. ✨
I wish you peace. ✨

Sitting With Feelings
Taking the time to sit with your feelings to acknowledge them, will save you much distress down the road.
It can take great courage to really sit with our feelings, allowing ourselves to surrender to their powerful energies. All too often we set our feelings aside, thinking we will deal with them later. If we don’t deal with them, we end up storing them in our minds and bodies and this is when anxiety and other health issues can arise. Denying what our bodies want to feel can lead to trouble now or down the line, which is why being in the thick of our feelings, no matter how scary it seems, is really the best thing we can do for ourselves.
One of the reasons we tend to hide or push aside our feelings is that we live in a culture that has not traditionally supported emotional awareness. However, as the connection between mind and body — our emotions and our physical health — becomes clearer, awareness of the importance of feeling our feelings has grown. There are many books, classes, workshops and retreats that can help us on our way to emotional intelligence. We can also trust in our own ability to process what comes up when it comes up. If sadness arises, we can notice its presence and welcome it, noting where in our bodies we feel it, and allowing ourselves to express it through tears or a quiet turning inward.
When we simply allow ourselves to fully feel our feelings as they come, we tend to let them go easily. This is all we are required to do; our feelings simply want to be felt. We often complicate the situation by applying mental energy in the form of analysis, when all we really need is to allow, as the earth allows the rain to fall upon it. As the rain falls, the earth responds in a multitude of ways, sometimes emptying out to form a great canyon, sometimes soaking it up to nourish an infinitude of plants. In the same way, the deeper purpose of our feelings is to transform the terrain of our inner world, sometimes creating space for more feelings to flow, sometimes providing sustenance for growth. All we need to do is allow the process by relaxing, opening, and receiving the bounty of our emotions. Think about it. 😘✨
