Good Morning! Yes, SIL and MIL are both safe and staying at BIL’s house. Just knowing they are not where the fires are is a relief and I was able to finally get some sleep last night! I have no updates until they are able to go back to see if their homes made it. MIL is being calm and optimistic. I think just being away from that situation and even not breathing the air there would help someone’s outlook! I will update when I know. My mind is also on old childhood friends and friends of the family who live down there. They are all resilient and will be fine as long as they are safe.
SO, how are you in your spot in this world? How cold is it? Any more snow? Does your area do a good job cleaning up the roads to make them safe when it snows? I love the snow as long as I am warm and the roads are clean and safe for driving. When I lived in the Pacific Northwest, we had snow but the roads were not cleaned and the whole city (town) shut down. They don’t handle snow conditions well. One day we went sliding down an icy hill onto a highway! I thought we were gone for! I didn’t like living there. It was very pretty though.
Yes, Sheba, we are safe and not near the fires. The smoke travels far. We don’t get the Santa Ana winds here. We do get wild fires but it is usually the result of a lightening strike or an accident by someone in the mountains.

if that thing get any closer. I checked on my niece and she is fine. My sister does not
need to worry. So much is going on. I wish it would rain there.

My prayers are with your State. I am so sorry for your co-worker’s daughter. I saw that
awful shooting when will it end? When will it end? Hang in there we see a lot out here.
Oh Cherie I have seen anything like it. Please take care of your family and it seems you
have your hands full too. Take a breather when you can. I have you in my prayers.

@Cherie, I am so glad you are safe! I am concerned by your words: you are safe but NOT? Well I sure hope you are safe! I am not that familiar with Santa Monica but it’s about a half hour drive from Malibu, right? Do you live closer to SM or Malibu? Or more inland? You don’t have to say, I understand (being the internet) but I sure hope you are not in the path! Like I said, not familiar with that area. My old stomping grounds are Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Westlake, Agoura Hills, Callabassas, Malibu. Zuma, Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, Chatsworth, Sherman Oaks…I hear Zuma Beach is on fire. I used to be there all the time during summer break. This whole thing is so sad. Growing up there, I have been through fires many times but this one is crazy. Is the smoke affecting you? We are starting to get the smoke from the fires north of here.
I am so sorry for your co-worker’s daughter! And what a nightmare for your co-worker to think she could have lost her daughter! I am glad that she had to leave and was spared being another victim! I don’t understand this world anymore.

Taci, the horror of this all. We have been watching. You are so right about leaving the small bowls out for the animals. Are you experiencing the smoke at all?

Cherie is OK but NOT. @taci, Cherie is so glad you are safe. @kittengirl, I am so Sorry for your family, this is horrible. @loaf, Thank You for your Kind Thoughts. Cherie is safe … but Santa Monica is practically my “back yard!” We are busy helping friends … we maybe taking some in soon. I CAN”T watch the T.V. coverage on this or I wouldn’t sleep at all!!! The shooting in Thousand Oaks has hit too close to home …. We are all trying to help console a co-worker’s daughter. Her daughter was at that VERY BAR 45 minutes before the shooting started. She was there with a few girl friends but had to leave early that day. One of her Best friends was shot and did NOT make it. She is so full of Gratitude but has so much Guilt!! Cherie can’t begin to figure this out Sheba♥ ….. Take Care Everyone!!

@Sheba, these fires are certainly very sad and moving very fast. @kittengirl sorry to hear your Family members are in evacuation area’s. I am far south of the fires in SD and safe. It was very warm, dry and windy here. Hope those near the fires evacuate and stay safe. For those who live where animals are fleeing, put out some shallow bowls of water.

Snow already, I think I would like that weather about now.
