Incense Meditation

Meditating with incense can offer many benefits; embers become shooting stars, and the silver ribbon of smoke becomes unraveled clouds.

When we focus on incense sticks during meditation, we move into a mystical space that is both physical and spiritual. Like us, the incense stick is earthbound with an ember that burns for only a finite time, but the diaphanous spirit it releases is unbound by time or space. Rather than shutting down our senses to focus on an inner realm, incense involves our senses as we follow whirling smoke upward and outward while we take its scent into us, filling us as we breathe.

The journey starts with a flame, and then a glowing ember releases smoke to rise above us in an ethereal dance. Ashes fall below, purified by the fire. We can use this to imagine negative thoughts being changed from darkness into the beauty of warm gray snowflakes and a scented spun-silver plume, lighter than air. We can watch as our atmosphere is altered to become reminiscent of the heavens and lifts our thoughts: Embers become shooting stars, and the silver ribbon of smoke becomes unraveled clouds. Altered senses may guide our inspired thoughts to travel along new, perhaps undiscovered, pathways.

We can also imagine our physical selves being represented by the incense stick, our inner fire releasing magic into the world. That part of us emanates outward, expanding to mingle with the breath of those around us as we ride the wind to become part of everything. We can also see in the swirling smoke our life’s path, not a straight line but a twirling, meandering ballet that moves us ever onward and upward. We may leave a bit of ourselves behind as we bounce off of our surroundings, working through them, but no matter what we do, we cannot avoid our final destination: oneness with all that is. As spiritual beings enjoying the physical experience of life, incense meditations can help us remember the beauty and wonder of our existence, where heaven and earth, body and spirit, are all available to us in every moment.

We will be 24 degrees and you cannot see in the back or front of you. We made it to Mass
safely as the snow was just starting I came home and had to go back out and all heck broke
out in no time. I feel for that young lady because it was a perfect day and we had to drive
right by where she had her accident. I hope I see her again I will I know I will because both her
and parents live in my area. Sad her car was totalled. I am just glad I was not in the way.

Now when I go on my Moonwalks at night I go a different way with no people or traffic. ♥
Cherie the Moon was great guess what I had a dream about Heidi Daus. 🙂 We were working
together in a luxury hotel. We were doing a jewelry show. Heidi looks and sounds just like
she does on TV. I did not want the dream to ever end. ♥ The power of the Moon.
I am still at it with the decorations I need another day. So worth it in the end. 🙂

Cherie I remember those dolls how cute. 🙂 Hey I skated from my steps to the curb and that
is all the skating I will ever do. My brothers are very agile and they practice enough on the
white powder of Colorado. Brothers would love today’s weather and they like to show off.
I say go right ahead I will watch. 🙂

My husband listens to that station everynight before bed and in the daytime too.
We got hit big time. I had to go back out after Mass this morning and it is a mess.
Honest you cannot see in front or back of your car and we had to drive by the street
where the young lady had a terrible accident yesterday in perfect weather.

Get this I have to have lab work done early in the morning. Good god I have a full schedule
this week. The snow I just can’t let that bother me now. Most appts. have been set for months.
Well it’s that time of year. 🙂 We just don’t get this kind of storm in our neck of the woods this
time of year. Brrrrr……

Hi Sheba;

Thank you for sending me this bevy of beauties. One cannot get enough of contagious cuteness. Today, I will look for doggie presents for those sweeties in our life. My dear friend lives in a suburb of Newport News and has cats so they will also be on my list.

Are you staying inside today with your tea, treats and technology? Anytime you want; come find me and bring your doggie. It is very foggy out. Jerry is waiting for the fog to lift before his bike ride.

Today is very mundane. Believe me, mundane is good. New Passport photos and a trip to Costco. How do we know when to take a Costco run………we are running low on….toilet paper. How much glamour can I take? Going with Jerry always adds to the bill. One thing I no longer look for are vitamins. Andrew Takes care of that on HSN.

Speaking of which……the nearest HSN outlet is about a two-Hour drive from here in Naples. I wonder if that one has Heidi. A new Chariot is coming in a few weeks. How about that for a test run? However, if a future fur baby is here…..I will gladly skip it.

Time to take Fa La La out of his box.

Oh No .. Cherie is NO Wonder Woman …. Our Tree Trimming Party Guests (Mostly family with strong nephews and nieces) get the decorating tasks done for Cherie. MOM (Kisses) keeps house spotless, Guests Gobbled up All the Turkey and Trimmings (YEAH) and they go to town on decorating. Even though it got up to 75 degrees today … our house looks like a Winter Wonder Land … minus Snow like OZ! That’s an incredible event Sheba (I enjoyed the way you wrote up that story) … Cherie is Glad the Girl is safe (You gave her Great advice) but Very Very Glad You were not a victim of her carelessness! EEK .. Sheba♥ & @mightymouse …. Last TWD episode! LOVE that “Colorado Ski” look Sheba … the shoes reminded Cherie of my daughter’s dolls (BRATZ .. take a peek) that have BIG shoes …. LOL!
