Winter Wonderland
Michael BubléSleigh bells ring, are you listening
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We’re happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
As we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say, Are you married?
We’ll say, No man
But you can do the job
When you’re in town
Later on, we’ll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we’ve made
Walking in a winter wonderland
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with mister snowman
Until the other kids knock him down
When it snows, ain’t it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We’ll frolic and play, the Eskimo way
Walking in a winter wonderland
Walking in a winter wonderland

@Sheba,
Oh my gosh! That cat looks just like my late Ernie! So adorable! And I always wanted to put him in a red beret! I just KNEW he would look that adorable in it! Cats Fifth Avenue shopping bag! That is too cute! Lol!
Have a good one today! Glad you got the chicken soup, always helps me! I make it often. Glad you are feeling better! 😀 Grandson will be here today! 😀 Gotta get to work around here… -
@bichon,
I agree whole-heartedly! There are so many animals (aka fur babies) who need love and a good loving home! 😀 I grew up with cats and Shelties but unless I found one (a Sheltie) at a rescue, I will never have one. That’s just me. I know there are people that want pure breeds and that’s fine, but maybe go get one from a shelter too! 😀
I help a no kill shelter here and they rescue cats who are about to be euthanized for no good reason from the SPCA. In my area, SPCA does not have a no-kill policy. Up until recently, the cats didn’t stand a chance! It is so horrid that many people drop off animals there thinking they are doing a good thing because they don’t understand what really happens. I am hoping whoever stole my kittens didn’t later turn them in because they were older and their fuzzy cute factor wore off when the reality hit them about just what it takes to responsibly care for them. I still check to see if anyone has turned in any kittens (older now) matching their description. I just pray they are in a loving home and being spoiled with love! Most of my cats have found their way to me or have been rescued or born to a kitty that came to live here. And by rescued, I have one that was literally rescued! Off the street! Her name is Gracie because it was only by God’s grace that I found her! She was a tiny kitten who fit in the palm of my hand. She is dark grey and her eyes were closed shut due to infection so it was really a miracle I even saw her when I drove by her sitting on the curb on a very busy street about 10 pm on my way home. I pulled over and ran to her and picked her up. She sat in the palm of my hand and then I cuddled her close and brought her home and then we took her to the ER because she was not in a good way and had been injured. She couldn’t walk. Vet said she was hours from dying and couldn’t promise she would make it through the night. She was injured, severely malnourished and had an eye infection preventing her from opening her eyes. We have no idea what happened to her mommy or how they got separated, Gracie was 3 weeks old. The ER kept her, gave her fluids and antibiotics and explained she had been injured somehow but if she survived she may not be able to walk. We were allowed to take her home the next day and she lived in a liltte box with heated water-filled medical gloves and little blankies to keep warm. We fed her by drops and used wet cotton balls to clean her and to mimic her mommie’s tongue. We continued her meds and “exercised” her back legs so her muscles would get stronger. Dr. didn’t tell us to do this, it was instinct and we wanted to do everything to help her survive.
Well, I am happy to say she is alive and well and a source of much joy and love in this home! She is beautiful dark grey with yellow eyes and a black nose, red tongue. She waddles instead of walks, and she scurries instead of runs but at least she can use all her legs and it doesn’t stop her from getting up on the bed, sofa or the desk. She loves to talk by smacking her lips together and everyone that meats her falls in love with her and just starts laughing because she is so cute and feisty! 😀
I know we rescued her, but really I think it was the other way around. My Walker was born about the same time and the two of them were best buds through all his life. 😀 She has been such a sweetheart and all the kitties have loved her and look out for her. 😀
I am so happy for you and hubby with the new addition to your family. I hope you have many, many wonderful and healthy years together. 😀 -

Good Morning Sheba and Ladies,
@Sheba,
Hope your day is going well and you are feeling even better today! Just a few more days until you are through with your meds! Yay! 😀
Glad to hear your 3D mammo went well. I have never had one of those. My sister had breast cancer too. They caught it on a routine mammo and it was very aggressive and she had a biopsy the next morning. My Dr. mentioned that gene blood test but I know me and I would just sit around worrying about something that may not happen. I’d rather be proactive with my health concerns and make sure I eat healthy (no hormones, additives), keep sugar levels and cholesterol down, use green cleaning products and skin care products (or at least avoid the harmful chemicals), exercise, stress management (that’s a hard one), live with gratitude… all these things help my heart too. 😀 Maybe I should bring up the 3D mammo with my Dr. All my mammos have been normal, THANK GOD! I am more concerned with colon cancer since I am high risk and concerned with heart/strokes. Trying to live as healthy as possible and just enjoying life! 😀Are you getting any closer to having everything done for Christmas? Not me but I keep hoping. I still have a lot of shopping to do too and make my grocery list for meals I still have to plan. My son will be here for 3 or 4 days. 😀
Glad to hear your MIL is doing fine but I am sorry your daughter broke her ankle! That’s horrible and what a rotten time of year to be laid up! Is she done with her Christmas shopping? I hope she has help around the house! I also hope she mends quickly. You be careful too! 😀
@Cherie,
Lol! No, the tree is not crooked or laying on the floor with ornaments everywhere! Lol! When we had the house renovated we put in a wall and french doors to close off the living room. The tree is safe and the kitties can look at it through the glass panes in the doors. When our kitty family grew…and grew, we stopped putting up a tree because there was no way to keep them away (plus with all the losses of family we just couldn’t get into the spirit). Christmas has always been important to us so the living room project was the first of the renovation and we are so happy to enjoy putting up the tree again. When we had just Alexi for all those years we used to have to constantly put water in the tree because she would drink it all! She also had a favorite ornament – a knitted santa. We would put it at the bottom of the tree so she wouldn’t climb up the tree and she always batted it down and played with it. We STILL put that ornament at the bottom branches of the tree in her honor. We used to wrap gifts for her but the thing she really loved was playing with the wrapping paper! Oh, she was a doll and very much loved. A grey and creme Maine Coon with almost periwinkle blue eyes! In fact, if you are familiar with the blue flower on Plumbago capensis, that is the exact color of her eyes! She had a pink bubble gum nose. She was very spoiled and we loved spoiling her! We lost her at age 14 1/2 when her kidneys failed. We fed her Iams and there was an outbreak of e.coli among cats who had a bad batch of Iams. They recalled all of Iams for a while but our Alexi was among all those kitties who died from it. I will not buy Iams to this day nor will I buy any food made outside the US or whose factory shares space with other companies that use by products from foreign countries. Purina (this includes Friskies) is the only company based entirely in US and is purely made by them. Science diet and Hills are also made in the US and don’t share space with other pet food companies. My vet only recommends these products.
I am glad you like the Jonnie story with her beanie baby “Baby”, but it gets even cuter than that and I will have to share it later. I know you will love it! 😀@bichon18, I will post to you where you posted earlier.
Shout outs to velvet and Taci! Hope all is well! Have a good day all! 😀

Good Thoughts For The Day
In the morning, send yourself love for the entire day and be sure to collect that love along the way.
When things go wrong, it is easy to get into a bad mood, and that bad mood has a way of spiraling out and affecting our life for days to come. In the same way, when we feel badly about ourselves, we tend to act in ways that have repercussions, again creating a negative vibe that can negatively influence the next several days. While it is important that we allow ourselves to feel what we feel, and to be genuine, we do not have to completely surrender to a dark mood or feelings of self-doubt. In fact, the more we simply allow and accept our darkness as one part of the picture, the more easily we can also allow and accept our light. In this vein, we can temper our grey moods with an injection of sunshine in the form of sending good wishes to ourselves for the next 24 hours.
If you feel a bad mood coming on or find yourself plagued with negative feelings, take a moment to acknowledge that. At the same time, recognize that things can and will change, and that you can still have a good day, or a good week, especially if you take the time to visualize that for yourself. This is a great way to support yourself when you are working through tough times and hard feelings. When you visualize good things for yourself, you are sending yourself love and warmth, as well as encouraging yourself to keep going.
Before you even get out of bed in the morning, you can take the time to send good wishes to yourself all the way through to the next morning. As you picture your day, take the time to fill in the details – where you are going, who you will see, what you will do – and send love and good wishes ahead to yourself, as well as everyone you encounter. It will be like arriving in a new place and finding that an old friend has sent a bouquet of flowers from back home to welcome you and remind you that you are loved.

“Greatest Love Of All”I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride
To make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to beEverybody’s searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on meI decided long ago never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignityBecause the greatest love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all inside of meThe greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of allI believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride
To make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to beI decided long ago never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignityBecause the greatest love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all inside of meThe greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of allAnd if, by chance, that special place
That you’ve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love -
