Oh I know! It was his father who moved him and the family to Ireland. I thought the same as you… How could a man who was an officer possibly have the wealth he amassed unless it did come from all the people they murdered? You wouldn’t believe where this man lived! He let out the truths about his life a little at a time and when I figured it out I was disgusted. And frightened. Maybe he thought I wasn’t intelligent enough to figure it out, or maybe he was just arrogant enough to think he was too impressive. He seemed like such a nice older gentleman at first until he started voicing his politics and insisting on things that I knew to be lies. I felt so sickened that I had once considered this vile being as respectable, kind, and someone I considered to be my friend! I was mortified. He was a man of position and highly respected in his community and in a place of influence. He was also friends with powerful US politicians! He would fly over here and attend meetings and dinner parties with them! I saw a photo of him with some of them in the paper. I’m not saying names. It still frightens me. There is so much corruption we don’t even know about. End of subject.

I understand your heartbreak about leaving little Ari. I can’t bear to leave mine! It is also hard to find someone to trust to take care of them, even for a night! Whenever we have gone somewhere we always go when my daughter can be here. Soon my MIL’s 90th will be coming up and we would like to surprise her by flying our son and his fiance down here and all of us making the trip down there. That is going to be a long day and we will have to come back on the same day unless we can find someone we trust to do a great job with the kitties. We would probably feel better boarding Chewey at vets for the day so he will get his medicine, possibly Gracie too. It is going to cost $$$ by the time all this is done. I just don’t know if we can do it. But I hear you on your apprehension. Make sure when you go that you leave your nightie on the bed for him so he has your scent. I have always done that and it helps them feel better.

My request from Fiddler would be Anatevka. It is sung at the end of the show with the entire company as they are cast from their village. Their destinies are unknown. Some will go to America, Europe or elsewhere. The song touches me. The show had a wonderful score.

My family was all in the United States long before the First World War. We, to our knowledge, did not lose anyone in the Holocaust but I have known many who did. We also know or have known survivors. We knew a man who lost his wife and children In the Holocaust. After liberation he met a survivor in a detention camp. They married and started a new family. I cannot imagine his thoughts in the middle of the night.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Anne Frank House will effect me deeply. I am sure we will have access to WiFi. I will send my thoughts but we have a while before I go,

You were corr3ct not to keep contact with that evil man who moved to Ireland with money that was probably not his but stolen from people who were murdered at the hands of his Nazi heroes. There will never be a good word that comes from me about Nazis or their sympathizers. Never.

As for the letter os the day….with all the changes…we hope these threads will continue. I am, however, a believer in having backups and being proactive.

My packing is depressing me since I will miss my little critter. I know so many people who take long holidays and are away from their furbabies on a regular basis. My hearts aches at the thought of being away from mine. However, if all goes well and he adjusts perhaps Jerry and I can have a weekend or holiday now and then. Of course, after this trip….which for us is a very big trip although under two weeks door to door. Yes, I will have Heidi’s with me. I wish I had someone to wave a magic wand and pack me sensibly with just enough fun thrown in.

As for Marla…it all goes on sale. I will read reviews and see what makes sense. I hail from a generation where shirts sticking out is considered unkempt. I need longer jackets rather than short. I like v necks and collars. I did get the leggings. So much on sale.

Anyway, I didn’t Ask about your furbabies or how you feel. You are tired…climb into bed and relax. Eat an orange. Revel in the sweetness. Be good to yourself.
