April’s Pink Moon will illuminate the sky on Good Friday this year
The final supermoon of this year has come and gone, but there’s still plenty more to look out for when it comes to stargazing this spring.
This month’s full moon, known as the Pink Moon, will appear on April 19, peaking at 7:12 a.m. ET, according to The Farmers’ Almanac. Despite its name, this moon isn’t pink. Instead, the name refers to the first wildflowers to bloom in North America in early spring.
“The April full moon is often called the Pink Moon, named after pink phlox flowers that are the first wild flowers to bloom in spring,” Dr. Emily Drabek-Maunder, astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, told Country Living.
“The full moon in April can also be called the Fish Moon, Hare Moon, Egg Moon and Sprouting Grass Moon. Traditionally, full moons are named from Native American tradition, but many of them also can come from Anglo-Saxon and Germanic origins.”
The Pink Moon falls on Good Friday this year. Easter is always on the Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox, known as the Paschal moon. So, the date for Easter Sunday is Sunday, April 21.
“The moon will begin its rise in the east around sunset, be at its highest point toward south around midnight, and then will make its descent in the west around sunrise on April 20.”
It’s not the only celestial event to look out for this month. Keep an eye out for shooting stars lighting up the night sky on April 22, when the annual Lyrid Meteor Shower reaches its peak.
“The moon will be really favorable for them this year; it will set by the time the Lyrid radiant is high in the sky,” NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke told Space.com. “The moon will be around first quarter, so the moon will have set by the show getting fired up after midnight.”

Working from Center
When you feel you are in the thick of things, tapping into your own inner resources will help bring strength.
When we are “in the thick of it,” overwhelmed by too many things that need our attention, it’s important to remember that we are never given more than we can handle. When life’s challenges make us question this, our best coping mechanism is to follow the reliable and well-known course to our calm center and anchor ourselves there. It is for these times that we have been practicing regularly, so that our mind, body, and spirit will know how to find the peace within. Even in the midst of seeming chaos, a deep breath can help us turn within to find the space to work from, the calm at the center of the storm.
Tapping into our inner resources we begin again, bringing our focus to the needs of the present moment. Asking “why?” shifts our energy away from the task at hand. We can seek answers to those questions once we get to the other side of the present challenge. For now, we accept what is. Once we have collected scattered energy and created space, inspiration will strike, help will arrive, and what seemed impossible will either become possible or we will find it has become unnecessary. The flow of the universe and its perfect order has room to move in our lives when we get ourselves and our extraneous thoughts out of the way.
After the thick has become thin again, we have the opportunity to learn from the situation with a better idea of our true capabilities. We can now ask ourselves the “why” questions with the goal of fine-tuning our lives. Perhaps we have taken on more than is ours to do or made commitments out of obligation rather than insight. It could just be the ebb and flow and life, or we may be receiving life lessons on a fast track in preparation for something wonderful to come. But when we have a chance to make new choices, we know the best ones are made when we work from center. AMEN!

Cherie,
I hope you and the family have a wonderful time. 🙂 What a great trip and treat for the family.
Cherie my neighbor has closed on his house in Palm Springs. I can tell you this he is anxious to
get there he will close on his house here next month. Goodness he has gone through a lot
selling and buying I will miss him and we promise to keep in touch. My little world just got
smaller I still have friends on the side of him now that is where i go to party and I have known
them over 20 years.I hope you turn the music up and ride like the wind. ♥ Cherie I did read up on it and that
is amazing. Cali you can go somewhere exciting without leaving the State. How cool is that?
I love petting Zoo and took my kids often I still go to the Zoo. I may make a trip to St. Louie
for the St. Louis Zoo it is amazing too and I have been there before i love it. St. Louie is a
road trip I have planned and I will see other sights too. ♥ St. Louie is just a few hours drive.
Enjoy the trip and the family. Shout out to the Captain/Le Chef. Cherie Amy named my
husband as Cool Hand Luke. 🙂 I have many names in the Community that people call me
Sheebs and ShebaDaus are some of the names. ♥ -
I love your visits. Stay clear of those snakes. My snake nest had been there all winter.
Thank god they are gone but I think they will be back. Guess what a neighbor posted
that a fox was staring down his cat. The cat got out of the door and there was a fox. I am
told the cat did not move. I had a cat like that. I worry about Poppy because he is a small
dog I keep him on a leash so if anything take Poppy they will have to take me too.I do live near wildlife. I don’t bother them and so far they don’t bother me. 🙂 I respect
mother nature. ♥ Happy Trails today. 🙂
